We are very pleased with the results.

Overall: excellent. Javier knows what he's talking about. He knows a ton about lawns/plants/weeds and has great advice about maintaining and improving the health of lawns and gardens. He offered me a choice between approaches: more pro-chemical or more pro-organic . At my house we decided to follow the pro organic route to restore the lawn to health via composting and other things that will make the ground/lawn healthy. Also, when we were discussing needing to lay down sod vs. improving the soil and waiting to see if the lawn would come back on his own, he suggested waiting to see if it comes back rather than me paying $$ to resod. It has come back very well.

Javier came by after 5 the same day I called him to consult with me. I appreciated that quick response. I called him because he had good reviews on Angie's list. We spent about an hour going over what I needed done. He was going to give me a bid, but never came back. He also said he didn't have the kind of mowers that you stand on (ones made for big areas) and wouldn't be able to provide a bid for weekly lawn mowing. I subsequently hired another Angie's List provider with whom I was delighted (DLG Landscaping - David Ulmer, owner). Javier had suggested removing a large branch from an old knarly oak tree. It seemed like good advice to me because it was rubbing on a branch below it. He also suggested removing a big part of a mountain laurel because of it's shape. When David came, he told me that in regards to the oak tree, he could save the limb by either cabling it to lift the weight off the other limb or trimming some of the weight off of it so it would lift naturally. He also said this wasn't the time to do any trimming because of the danger of oak wilt. I REALLY appreciated that advice! Also, he was able to trim the mountain laurel in a way that would encourage it to grow straight up. Overall, I feel like Javier didn't have a good knowledge base (at least where trees were concerned.) He did know the names of garden plants and their habits. I also think the job was too big for him to handle. Our beds and lot required many man hours from another provider whose crew worked daylight to dark for three days.

Javier did some work for us other than the standard lawn care. He was prompt and did exactly what he was supposed to do.

Javier and a fellow worker came over to my house and pulled weeds in the backyard for more than 2 and a half solid hours. Javier called me and told me that if they pulled all the weeds, I would have to look at dirt! So we have worked out a maintenance plan and at my suggestion, Javier agreed to grass seed instead of laying sod. The $180 covered the cost of pulling (and pulling and pulling and pulling) weeds - not only in the lawn, but in the flower beds too! They bagged everything and cleaned up the area. Javier is easy to talk to, honest, a hard worker, and exhibits a good deal of knowledge in landscaping. I especially appreciated that his company does not use great big heavy mowing machines on small residential areas - I have experienced plumbing damage in the past when a different lawn service used their heavy machine on my lawn. Javier is personable and enjoys his work. I'll check in again later to tell you about Javier's regular lawn maintenance service, cutting, blowing, edging, the usual. The one time he's done it so far I was quite satisfied, and his price was very competitive - $45. He will come twice a month.

Javier did a great job on a quick lawn care request. His schedule allowed him to do the job a day early, and he completed the task with only phone instructions from me and did a thorough job. He cut what he was supposed to cut, and left what was supposed to be left alone. He simply left an invoice which was paid promptly.

I called, and Javier came out to look at the work that needed to be done. He doesn't give you a written quote and only said he could get it done later in the week or the following week and that it would only take a couple of hours and he charges $30 per hour. What he failed to say was this was 30 per man hours. The following Monday I followed up with him and he said he had time to complete it tomorrow. It took them less than 2 hours but I was still charged for 2 hours worth of work because they had to leave for 30 minutes to go and get the mulch they were supposed to have brought with them. The completed all the work requested, but their pricing was really high, (I had another quote for 80 less than what he charged me) which was partly my fault since they don't give you an actual quote they just give you an estimate by hours of what it will cost you and tell you plus the supplies. They had to purchase the bark mulch and only charged me a small markup for what it cost them. If you don't mind paying a little extra to get the work done ASAP, these guys can probably do it for you, but shop around and get them to write down an actual estimate.

They did a fantastic Job . I am going to hire them for the summer season to cut and edge my yard.

I recently purchased a house that had been vacant since March of this year. Due to the extreme heat this summer every bush, shrub, grass, and most of the trees on the premises had died. Javier and his crew showed up and took care of all the trimming of the remaining trees, mowed and pulled weeds, took out a pond consumed by algae, pulled out all the dead shrubbery, and when finished took the time to seed with weed and grow. Did I also mention that once completed he removed all the dead branches and shrubbery on his trailer :) I received several quotes and not only was Javier the least expensive but took the extra time to discuss options moving forward since I wasn't from this area. Because of his true professionalism and diligence in helping me achieve a yard both my neighbors and I would be proud of I have chosen him to maintain on a bi-weekly basis. Since the trimming and brush removal I have had several neighbors on the street come over and introduce themselves as well as note how exceptional the yard looks since the previous owners have vacated. I am very grateful for the work Javier performed without the need of trying to gouge and nickle and dime myself and would recommend him to anyone needing work completed.

He was terrific. My space is difficult and he was trying to guide me against doing some of the ideas which I had as there wasn’t enough light. He wanted me involved in the process. We would go to the nursery together for the trees. I could pick up the flowers and he would give his recommendations. He was very good and very thorough. He kept in contact with me and followed up. I thought to change the whole concept. He didn’t charge me anything and he came in three times. He was excellent.

Javier and his crew showed up on time and worked like madmen. They tackled the horrible cat claw vines and weeds in a side lot that hadn't been mowed for over a year and made it look great.Their price for the job was more than reasonable so I was more than glad to give them a nice tip. My wife and I agreed that we will use them from now on in the future. A+. Thanks Javier and thanks Angie's List!

I thought it was high and then he came down with the price, but never came out to see me. Maybe he said for me to call him.

From the first contact to the end of the job, I found Javier to be extremely easy to work with. He listened to my needs, told me potential problems that might arise if I had landscaping ideas that might not work out the way I envisioned, and gave me a lot of information on maintaining my yard. Javier is polite, professional, always returned phone calls, showed up as scheduled, and was patient and willing to share his knowledge of lawn and landscape care. His employees did an excellent job, and finished on schedule. I would recommend Javier very highly to anyone needing lawn or landscaping services. A complete pleasure to work with!

Excellent experience. The only issue has been that Javier is occasionally late in invoicing for the work.

He is great and is very reasonably priced. He is responsive, even when I get him on the phone. He is good all around. It is hard to grade the quality but I think it is fine. I would recommend him to anybody and would use him again in the future.

They make weekly visits. It was very easy to set up because I was in a hurry to go on a vacation. I think I spoke to Javier. He was very accommodating and gave me a good quote even though I couldn?t really meet him anytime because I was in a hurry and had to leave. He made it really easy. I had a house sitter who said that he was very thorough and very polite every time he spoke to her. It was a great experience. My husband would have him do lawn maintenance all the time for us. He is very reasonably priced too.

He spoke with my husband. He came ready to do the job if we wanted him to, but the quote was too high compared to the other quotes we got. We talked with him on the phone and he said he would come one day, but then didn't end up coming until the next day.

I called several people to get bids for a spring yard and landscape clean up. Javier responded to the request for a bid quickly and arrived exactly when he said he would. He bid the job and I called back later to confirm. A date was set and he and his crew arrived just as promised. They completed the job faster than originally planned except for composting. He ran out and had to return the following week, which he did. He is doing regular lawn care now and is punctual and the work is very good.

I ve used J & L Lawn Service for five or six years. He s flexible and works with my schedule. He does a very thorough job and keeps an eye on the details. He picks up the trimmings and blows off the sidewalk.
