+ -1 moreMr. Capote arrived exactly on time. After introducing himself, he described the procedure he was going to use to check the foundation. Altogether, he spent nearly two hours (1) inspecting the the foundation outside, (2) examining the foundation in the crawl space under the house, and (3) taking measurements all around the interior ground floor of the house. He then wrote up a report, including a detailed diagram of what he saw, and explained his findings to me in detail. Bottom line, he did not find any problems. Because of the time and care Mr. Capote took with the inspection, and the extreme detail of his report, I feel assured that our foundation is in good shape. He told me that he was charging only $30 for all this excellent service. I gave him a much bigger tip. I will definitely use The Foundation Company again for another periodic inspection, and I highly recommend him to others. He is meticulous, courteous, professional and highly knowledgeable about the subject.
Description of Work: Based on Angie's List commentaries, I made an appointment with the Foundation Company for an inspection of the foundation of our home with Mr. Luis Capote. I was not aware of any foundation problems, but our house is nearly 30 years old, built on top of North Texas clay, and I wanted an expert to inspect the foundation and determine whether any repairs were necessary.

+ -1 moreThe appointment time was set for 11am. Around 1110 the employee called me to tell me his last inspection took longer than expected and wouldn't arrive to my home till 1145 and asked me if that would be ok. I said I didn't mind ( I was home all day so it didn't really matter). After showing him my concerns, he began taking measurements at a minimal number of points inside the house. He did not write down any of the measurements on a worksheet. He also inspected the exterior foundation. After about 15 minutes he explained verbally the measurements of the 4 corners of the house and concluded there was nothing wrong with the foundation. He did not write anything down nor gave me a copy of any measurements. To note, this was the 2nd company I had come out to inspect the house and I felt he was rushed and did not do a thorough job. Fortunately his conclusion coincided with the first company and that I did not have foundation issues...merely cosmetic. I obviously cannot say if he would have done it differently had he been able to make it to the site at the scheduled time.
Description of Work: An employee came out to inpsect my foundation for a free initial evaluation. I had noticed cracks in the bricks on the exterior and some minor cracking in the drywall in the interior.

+ -1 moreThey called the day of the appointment to let me know they were on the way. The showed up and looked at everything I showed them and we talked about a few of my concerns. They ran some test and took measurements. In the end they said that there was no work that was currently needed. They were nice and seemed was able to give me some good news that nothing was needed. I would call and use them again in the future.

+ -1 moreAfter contacting four companies on Angie's list I sent out my Engineers Report for a bid and only two responded. Mr. Capote of The Foundation Company called me early that evening to let me know he received the report and that he was working on the bid. He explained that he would be giving me a discount for being a member of Angie's List and for having my own Engineer's Report. I received the bid that evening and it was very competitive and I recieved a copy of their liability insurance and warranty. Their Reviews, Price, Warranty as well as the timely & personal manner in which they responded helped me in decision to go with them. I followed up with Mr. Capote to let him know I needed a little more time past the bid deadline to raise the money for the repair and he was very accommodating. The day of the repair Mr. Capote and his crew showed up early and Mr. Capote explained the process to me and answered all of my questions as they arose. They even went a more difficult route (for them) to install two of the eleven piers so as not to damage the brick in my front entrance way for which I am very grateful to them. The job took two days and my shrubs were put back in place and they poured concrete in two areas in which they had to break the concrete. One area was pebbled and they replaced that with pebbled concrete. I am thankful for having a good experience as I was extremely stressed at the sight of two slight cracks in my walls prior to repair and nervous at the thought of the cost. Mr. Capote also advised that I get a final inspection from my Engineer and provide a copy of the report to him. My final inspection confirmed that the repairs were made as recommended in the report and that the piers were properly installed. I just want to note that my Engineer is in no way affiliated with The Foundation Company whom I independently sought from Angie's List.
Description of Work: Eleven concrete piers were installed around my house.

They started the work today. So far every thing is fine. Will give final review when they are finish. It looks like everything will go as planned. Everything was wonderful. Description of Work: Recomender by Angie's List. Called and made appointment to come by. The day the company was to come by I was put in hospital, Called and left message to cancel. Have called 3 times and left message to reschedule and will not return calls. I guess they have plenty of business and do not want anymore. When we were able to finally connect I was satisfied with price and time frame. They finished the work today and did a wonderful job. Clean up was like they had never been here and they had and there had holes and dirt ever where but when they left there was nothing left. The crew was great.

+ -1 moreAfter reading through some of the reviews I decided to go ahead and give them a try and I must say Im glad I did We were very, very pleased with Luis and his crew. The guys were always hard at work and delivered what was promomised. I highly recommend the foundation company, and their cost was very resaonable. Be sure to use your Angie?s List coupon, they do honor it.. Luis and his crew arrived at 8:30 in the morning and began digging around the house, They were very fast, efficient, and professional. When all the work was done, his crew re-filled the dirt, replaced trees and cleaned up all debris. There was worked required inside which meant digging 3 large holes (which made me very nerves about having to replace our wood flooring) but after speaking with Luis and expressing my concerns he was able to make some adjusments in where they had to dig. Most importanty, the work done by The Foundation Company has given us great peace of mind in knowing that our home has been properly leveled and that its structural integrity has been restored. I have already recommended this company to a few neighbors. Thank again Luis- you are a man of your word and highly respected!!!
Description of Work: My home is a 20 year old model home which started to show signs of foundation issues, so I contacted The Foundation Company to do the repairs. Based on their recommendation, 21 piers were required. Pros: The Foundation company did a gr8 job! Engineering company was very good. I would use them again as well. Cons: They have a plummer they use however, If you require plumming repair i would suggest you get a second opinion.

+ -1 moreWe were very pleased with The Foundation Company. They came highly recommended from our structural engineer, and their cost blew the other estimates away. Cost was about $300 per pier. Their low cost plus their glowing reviews on Angie's List made our choice easy. They were able to use the report the structural engineer gave us, which was important becuase the engineer discovered that three of the four sides of our home had already had foundation work completed. The Foundation Company did only the work that the engineer's report said to do--they didn't try to sell us on additional unnecessary piers. Luis and his crew arrived at 8:30 in the morning and began digging around the house before 9 am. They were very fast, efficient, and professional. All 5 piers were done in about 4 hours, which means we still had our entire Saturday to do what we wanted--we weren't stuck in the house waiting all day for the repairs to be done. His crew left our property exactly as they found it; they re-filled the dirt, moved our yard furniture back to where it was, and re-poured concrete where they had to dig. Most importanty, the work done by The Foundation Company has given us great peace of mind in knowing that our home has been properly leveled and that its structural integrity has been restored. I have already recommended this company to a friend.

+ -1 moreWe were actually on a very tight deadline to have the foundation repaired on our new home, since the work had to be completed before closing... so we were already scrambling to find a good foundation company that could complete the work quickly. After speaking with Louis on the phone several times, we were really impressed with his professionalism and ability to rearrange his schedule to help accommodate our special circumstances. His crew of 6 men came out and completed the work over a two day period. When we came to the property to examine the work they had done with our structural engineer, we all were very impressed with the work they had done on the foundation. The new measurements for the home were dramatically improved and The Foundation Company did an excellent job installing the new piers. When we mentioned to Louis that we were not very happy with how the flower beds had been left (a lot of the large rocks and dirt were just tossed around the yard and all of our bushes were simply placed an inch or so back into the new rock filled dirt, Louis said that he would be out the next day to take care of it.) Although we understand that foundation work is just a messy business, we appreciated that Louis took time to make it better.

Description of Work: The installed 20 pressed concrete piers. I watched the work and was very impressed with the quality and attention to get the piers to bedrock. Hand jacks were used for the initial setting but the final PUSH was done with a heavy electric/hydraulic jack. Lifting was done evenly and cracks were kept to a minimum. The crew was prompt and clean. A lifetime transferable warranty was provided.

+ -1 moreOn day one of the repairs, Luis and his crew came out to my house. Luis instructed his foreman what work needed to get done. The guys quickly got started and made great progress throughout the day. One day two, they started digging holes in my home?s interior (living and garage area). (This was the worst part b/c of the noise it created but they were quick about it.) By early afternoon, Luis returned in time for them to begin the lifting process. The house lifted level and the all of my cracks closed back up. Only a few minor cracks occurred after the house was lifted. Once the house was lifted, the guys quickly began filling up all of the holes. They put the dirt in the front on a tarp outside so when it was time to fill the holes back up, the grass was protected. Additionally, one big perk I liked about them was that they took all dirt dug up inside and sat it outside. They did not leave it sitting in my house on the floors. Other than it being a little dusty it was not so bad. The guys ended up staying late to fill up the holes in with cement on the inside and clean up completely after themselves. They were able to salvage/replant my landscaping. It was much easier than I expected. Note to potential foundation repair homeowners ? Buy you some plastic painter tarps and wrap/cover your furniture. I blocked off the hallway to my bedrooms which helped contain the dust from the jackhammering inside the living area. Other than that, the crew did well with cleaning up after themselves. You may want to budget a little extra to have a cleaning company come in one time to do a thorough cleaning for you. Not necessary but would be nice. I got three foundation quotes and while he slightly higher in price, I decided to go with Luis because of how he was quick to respond to my calls, texts, and emails. His service to his customers sold me his company. I highly recommend them! Thank you Luis and his team!
Description of Work: What a pleasant experience work with Luis and his crew at The Foundation Company! Luis came out and reviewed my 1984 house. It was starting to show cracks in the mortar and doors not shutting. He gave me a quote to install approximately 18 piers around the perimeter, two of those in my living area, and two in my garage. He helped me schedule a plumber and pre engineer report as well as after the work was perform.

They were scheduled to be here at 9.00 amd but called and said they were running late because they needed to pick up more supplies and they showed up around 12:30 and preceeded to start their work. Because of the late start they had to return the next day to finish the work.The workers were very through. I had some comcerns and the forman fixed some of the things I pointed out. I'm very satisfied with their work and I would recommend them to everyone.
Description of Work: Luis Capote came out and took measurements and explained what needed to be done and the cost. Mr. Capote said we needed 11 piers and gave me a drawing of where the piers were going to be placed.

Description of Work: We experienced a foundation problem on the northeast corner of our single story house. We realized that we had some type of a problem when we could not get our dead bolt to work on our front door. We checked outside and found that the downspout in the northeast corner of our house had dropped about 1". When we measured the distance, we found that the downspout had dropped about 1-1/2 inches and we found a major masonry crack in the brick on the east exterior wall of the house. We did not have any interior damage. Before contacting The Foundation Company, I had obtained 3 quotes for repairing a foundation problem. The quotes ranged from $1200 to $4800 for anywhere from 5 to 9 piers. When I contacted the Foundation Company, they said that they would come out and see what needed to be done but that they would not quote the job until I had the house inspected by a structural engineer. This was the best advice I got from anyone and was something I was leaning toward based on the previous quotes I received. The Structural Engineer I chose was IFE (my choice not the company's choice). They did a thorough inspection of my entire foundation (slab) and provided a detailed report on the foundation including the number of piers that I needed (7). They also told me that I didn't need a Cadillac job done since the foundation distress did not warrant that much work. The Foundation Company then provided me a quote for the job and were able to schedule the one day job quickly to fit into my schedule. Tim Lowery was the representative for the Foundation Company and was extremely helpful. The job was completed on schedule, very professionally. You would not know that they had done work on the house after the job was completed. They cleaned up everything. They had to cut into my front patio to place 2 of the piers and I was concerned that the replacement concrete would not match the aggregate concrete of the patio. When they were finished, I commented that it was nice that they did not have to cut the patio only to find out that they did cut out 2 portions. The match to the original concrete was near perfect! It has been 3 months since the job was done. I have just had the masonry work completed based on the recommendation of the Structural Engineer to wait at least 3 months. Other than we lost 3 bushes which I expected due to the high temps, I was extremely happy with the job and would highly recommend The Foundation Company. I would also offer these suggestions to anyone with foundation problems. Get your own Structural Engineering report to avoid the wide range of quotes. Prepare a list of questions for each company that you choose for quotes so that you can compare answers. If you don't have one, install a foundation watering system per the instructions from you Structural Engineer. Make sure the company gets a permit from your city and the cost is included in your quote. Make sure that they are insured.

+ -1 morePrior to the actual installation of the piers, Luis and I talked on several occasions. I had lots of questions on what type of prep work we needed to do, on the type of repairs we could anticipate after the piers were installed, and how we could avoid damage to my hardwood floors. Luis was very prompt in returning my calls and addressing my concerns. The repairs took 2-3 days to complete and Tim was at my home each day, several times a day, to address any additional questions/concerns I had and to oversee the work. He also provided contact information if I needed to reach him. I was very pleased with the results and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I had foundation issues, so contacted an independent engineering company to perform the inspection. Based on their recommendation, 15 piers (3 optional) were required and a root barrier. I contacted The Foundation Company to do the repairs.

Description of Work: Due to years of foundation issues with my home, I finally decided it was time to get the foundation checked and repaired. My home is 50 years old. After reviewing many foundation companies online via Angies List and the internet, I decided to call The Foundation Company for an estimate because of the excellent reviews received. Luis Capote manages and operates The Foundation Company and came to my home in July 2012 for the initial estimate. Luis took the time to thorougly measure and review the structure of my home. We talked at length about foundations, repairs, process, and the experience for homeowners. Most impressive was Luis' professional knowledge of the business and his patience in taking time to listen to and reply to all my questions. I'm a very detailed, organized individual and very interested in the complete process from beginning to end. After much thought, research and consideration, I hired The Foundation Company to repair the foundation in my home. A scary step for me, but Luis and his crew were very professional, thorough and completely considerate of my concerns. It was a 5-day job in the 100+ degree heat of Texas -- I was impressed to say the least by the crew who worked tirelessly to complete the work. Further, The Foundation Company uses an independent engineer company for a pre and post report to confirm the foundation work for your home is accurate. This is critical for getting a foundation repaired in any home. Also, if you are considering buying a home, you would do well to have The Foundation Company review the property for any potential foundation issues before you purchase it. + -1 moreIn short--I was very happy with Luis and his crew. I would hire them again (hopefully I wouldn't have to...), but also recommended them to others. I reached them through Angie's List, and hired them based on the rating there. Luis is very responsive. If he is not answering his phone immediately--he will call (or email) back. Note that the email address listed at Angie's list might be incorrect. He came quickly and promptly. Checked the area I was suspicious of, and confirmed a foundation problem. Recommended an independent foundation engineer, who came quickly and confirmed the finding in an official report. Luis was able to schedule the work quickly, and in fact told me that they can start a day early (which they did!). He gave me three options: concrete piers all around ($4,500 total), steel piers all around ($9,000), or 10 concrete piers outside and 5 steel piers inside ($6,000). I chose the steel piers all around. His price is based on $600 per steel pier and $300 per concrete pier. I received a lifetime transferable warranty. The independent foundation engineer asked for 5 piers inside the house. Luis had his team only dig two holes and from them he tunneled under the house to get to all 5 locations. This way I had less flooring to fix afterwards. His team did an efficient and clean job, and finished on time. After the work was done, the foundation engineer came back and confirmed that the foundation is now level. Most of the cracks I had in the house have disappeared and required minimal fixes. He also brought an independent plumber, who found a leak in the sewer line. It is not clear whether the leak was a result of the foundation repair, the lifting of the house, the foundation damage, or completely unrelated. When I invited a plumbing company to fix it, they found where the leak was, and quoted me $315 per foot to tunnel under the house. Luis told me that his price was $175 per foot, so I hired him again. He communicated directly with the plumbing company and performed the tunneling per their instructions. When they needed further tunneling, his team came and did that promptly too. He ended up tunneling 11 feel under the house, for which I paid $1,950. Again--overall I am very happy with the results, with his work ethics, his prices, his promptness, and would hire him or refer him again anytime.

+ -1 moreLuis and his guys piered and leveled our house. They did a great job. Only took 2 days, and they cleaned up after themselves. Only problem was the plumber he recommended for our leak under the slab didn't work out, but I don't really blame Luis for that.
Description of Work: We had a water leak under our slab. It caused our slab to sink 3" on one side of the house. Luis and his guys came in and installed 13 piers around 1/2 the perimeter of the foundation, and 2 inside the house.

The house leveled well with no additional damage to the walls other than what was present due to the plumbing problem. They always answered my questions courteously. Luis even came out to make sure the plumbers completed their end in a timely fashion. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. It was the best experience I have ever had getting something major done to my house. Thank you Luis!!!!

+ -1 moreThese guys were great. Like I mentioned, I initially contacted them to come out to do a minor job on a joist. They told me they'd come out to give an estimate and over the weekend I completely forgot I called them to check it out and went ahead and did it myself. When they showed up for the estimate, I was pretty embarrassed that I had forgotten and didn't call to cancel. Since they were already at the house I figured I'd get them to check out the work I did to make sure it was alright, which they happily did. Again, since they were there anyway, I mentioned the cracks that I had around the door frames and asked if they wouldn't mind checking out the levelness of the house. Again, they obliged with a compete walk around using a device to measure how level everything was. Thankfully everything was fine. Though they didn't do any work for me, they seemed like very straight shooting and good guys. They seem to be the kind of guys that will give you exactly what you need and won't try to upsale you or suggest unnecessary work. If I have any foundation issues in the future they will definitely be hearing from me.
Description of Work: I initially called them for an estimate to partially cut out a joist and add headers because it was in the way of a toilet drain.

+ -1 moreContacted 5 different foundation repair companies, chose Mr Luis Capote at The Foundation Company in November of 2011. He showed up on time and was really knowledgeable about what my house needed for it to be leveled. I live in a 1956 pier and beam. He told me I needed 28 piers around the perimeter and that the interior floor needed to be raised inches. Luis had the most competitive bid and I told him I would be back in touch. I called an independent structural engineer, He came out and gave me a report exactly like the one Luis had given me. I showed the engineer Luis's report and they were compared and 99% identical. I must say that made me feel like Luis is on top of his stuff, so I decided to give him a shot. This is the second time I have had foundation work,The first company was horrible, dropped from BBB, just a real deadbeat of a company. Luis' crew started work February 27th 2011. I was off that week so I could watch, the crew were respectful of the dogs and my property. I thought that crew was an awsome bunch of hard working guys who know their stuff, and didn't have to be told what to do. Each one just started tackling their own task and everything went smoothly. I had old cast iron drainage/sewer lines that had been under this house since 1956. Needless to say I had a plumbing issue also with a cracked drain line, under the house was sooo muddy. It was so muddy that by wednesday when they were under the house shimming the floor, the mud made it waaay more difficult than anticipated. All the concrete pads that support the piers they use to shim the floor were just sinking 6 or 7 deep in the mud. I feel he and his crew went above and beyond when they cleaned out the previous foundation company's and anyone else who had been working under there for the past years trash. I didn't realize how much garbage was under there... I waited a few months before I called the independent engineer so the house could settle a bit before he gave it a thumbs up or down. Well, he said they did a FANTASTIC JOB, and I have to agree. I would definitely use this company again. Hey thanks Luis you and you crew did a great job and I thank you for your professionalism. You CANT go wrong with the Foundation Company folks!

+ -1 moreHe was very nice to talk to, and seemed to have done a good job. The sprinkler systen in our front yard was in the way of the construction, so it was a little damaged, which we complately expected with this kind of work. But he came out and fixed it at not extra cost.

+ -1 moreOverall, I was very pleased with the work that was done. I would have no problem recommending Luis and The Foundation Company for any foundation repair.
Description of Work: We contacted three companies for estimates; We chose Luis Capote and The Foundation Company. He was very thorough with the inspection, explained options and he was the best price. We had to have 19 piers installed. One of us was around most of the time. Service began Monday morning and continued until Wednesday evening. Next, a plumber came and tested for leaks and we had none. Finally an engineer came and checked the level and verified the work. We had quite a few very large red-tip photenia bushes next to our home that they recommended removing. We removed them before they started. We also had several regular size bushes that they had to dug up and lay aside while they worked. We had two of them that died as a result, but we were not too surprised. As a side note, one of the days they were working was the day that the bad storms and tornado hit Fort Worth and Arlington. The guys that were working got in out of the rain and as soon as it passed they were working again. I felt very sorry for them working in all the mud and water.

+ -1 moreNoticed wall cracks in my home and had Foundation Co. come out to inspect. They were very matter of fact. We identified the cracks and then he went around the house doing elevation readings and read out the readings to me. It turns out my house is within spec and so does not need repair. He recommended some maintenance piers to arrest further movement and cracking, which I am considering.
Description of Work: No service. Just an inspection and estimate.
