Description of Work: They came to our home to do an in home estimate for window replacements. The "one hour" demonstration turned into 4 hours. They basically refused to leave until we signed a contract. Very unprofessional, pushy, and the worst kind of salesman. No trust in them. Would never do business with anyone trying to force me into a payment plan for 2 windows that will take longer to pay off than a new car!

I'm sorry but i can't understand this at all. Our minamum window job is 4. We tell our customers when we set the appointment to allow 60-90 minutes for the appointment depending on the amount of questions they have. I'm guessing the estimate started out for more windows and this customer did not want to invest that much money in the project so the reduced it to 2. We do not finance 2 windows for long periods of time our banks will not make those kind of loans. I am sorry that this customer was not satisfied with their experience with my company. We sell and install thousands of windows all over Texas with a high satisfaction rating. I also apoligize that our free estimate took more time than they wanted to spend investigating their options for their project Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Description of Work: Due to heavy spring rains this year, we had two leaks develop in our sunroom. Robert came and within an hour had resealed and recaulked several seams in the metal roof. He did an outstanding job. We are under warranty, so no cost was involved. However, I will not use Statewide to do any more new construction again. Since the room was added in 2003, we have had at least one or more issues with door knobs, ac/heating units, breathing holes for proper roof drainage, plastic gutter guards, etc. about every 18 months, give or take. I find this annoying and unnecessary, as the replacement of items cost us more money (they were not under Statewide's warranty). They should do a better job on their initial product and at least replace things that break over a 15 year period for these kinds of things. Besides, by using Angie's List, we have found other contractors that do a much better job...guaranteed.

dont quite understand? we have fixed everything that needed replacement? We have a lifetime workmanship warranty and the sunroom parts have a lifetime warranty. What we don't cover is abuse and neglect. Not saying this has happened here. but leafs must be removed from the roof to prevent leaks. Maintance must be provided on mechanical parts and we are not responsible for acts of God. please call me with the name of a sunroom company who has a better warranty and has been in business for over 21 years Frank Manzare 214-446-9031

Description of Work: Installed complete new shower in 11 yr. old home. Three years later (and new owner) the shower is leaking. Their own employee came out, tried to test for leaks, but was unable to do so due to mistakes in the plumbing from 2012. The employee said the actual plumbing was done incorrectly thus hindering his ability to even test for the leak. He took pictures, wrote everything up and took them back to his employer. He could actually tell how it was leaking by looking at the original bad plumbing. We have asked them to come back and repair their mistakes and after some run arounds gave us an estimate of $5,965. More than half the price of the original installation. Their response to the incorrect work that was done was to say, "well, the city approved it at the time". We now have another bid for about $3200 to do the job. We would have been happy to pay them to do the work, but feel that we should have a discounted bid since it was their mistakes in the first place.

this is another first. We did not do the work for this customer they bought the house from our customer. Our workmanship warranty is not transferrable. So please lets be clear we do offer a lifetime workmanship warranty to the original home owner. This job was permitted so the city inspector signed off on it. There was no problem with the plumbing. When we inspected it we found an issue with the seal leaking. we quoted a price to replace all materials with like product. The product is exclusive to my company and by having us do the work would have reinstated the lifetime workmanship warranty. This home owner has decided to take a different route to get the repairs done therefore there will be no warranty from Statewide Remodeling. The price we quoated was discounted from or normal price. I hope this makes sense to members trying to understand what has happened here. If anyone has questions please feel free to contact me directly at 214-446-9031 Frank Manzare VP/Partner

When I started my business in 1998 my dad told me when you do someone a good job and they are happy they will usually tell a few friends. When they are not happy they will tell everybody they know. Description of Work: I contracted for a bathroom remodel. First worker brought in 3 friends to do ceiling work. Made the biggest mess. He left after 5 days. New worker came next week; had to tear out most of previous work. He was great and meticulous about fixing things and making it right. Supervisor kept coming by to hurry him up on the job. Job took about 3 weeks in all. About a month later someone in the "office" called to schedule a city inspection which I informed them had already been done. The company has terrible communication with their underlings. I will not use them again.

I contacted my Austin office and they explained their side of the rest of the story The project manager was coming by frequently not to rush the crew but to make sure no further mistakes where made on your job. We do not call to schedule city inspections the inspector will do that. We where calling to make sure your finale inspection was done and satisfactory It would appear by your rating you had a bigger issue with the price? My understanding from talking to my Austin office was you signed off on the job as satisfactory If i can be of service please contact me directly at 214-446-9031 Frank Manzare VP/Partner We appreciate your business and strive to do the job right the first time I understand this did not happen in your case

Description of Work: Had a 9'x18' engineered concrete patio poured. The sales process was drawn out and frustrating, but they are selling a luxury-quality when most people want "just enough", so they are trying to express value. Product was high quality and done right. I think they could have done a better job cleaning up the mess or not making it in the first place (concrete drippings in lawn).

Description of Work: Installed a covered back porch with tie in to our existing roof. The overall job went well and was performed in a timely fashion. Their were some mis-communications from the people selling the job versus the people performing the work, but in the end Statewide made it right. The only reason they are getting a B on the quality is because we have had issues with our shingles twice. One time they blew off 2 days after the installation, but we did have a good cross wind. Statewide came back out and re-installed them, but they do not seem to be adhering well. My husband had to seal them down himself because they were lifting off the roof. Overall we are happy with the covered patio and enjoy their product.

Description of Work: I had contacted Statewide Remodeling and has 2 scheduled appointments. They cancelled both of those appointments. My husband was going to be there. The 3rd appointment was confirmed in the am, about 2 hours before the scheduled time. I notified them that my husband had to go out of town so he wouldn't be there. Every person at Statewide told me it was mandatory he be there. The salesman came to the house and left promptly when he found out my husband would not be there. |I felt they treated me as insignificant, as if I couldn't make the decision by myself. I believe it is a sexist attitude. I called the manager and told him the situation. Of course he apologized, and he said that it is not there policy for both of us to be there. I told him they better retrain their employees, b/c everyone said we both had to be there. I would rather not remodel if I had to use Statewide.

Ms. [removed member name] My apologizes for the confusion our policy is that all interested parties be present for the free estimate. We do make exceptions when the customer requests it. We typically do not charge for our estimates so we like to cover everything on one visit. This is very important in our opinion especially on a kitchen or bath design. If only one home owner is there weather it be the husband or wife we usually end up having to go back a second or third time to go over the design with the missing party. We are extremely busy that is probably the reason your previous appointment was rescheduled. I am sorry you feel we are a sexist company which is not the case at all. Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Description of Work: They broke tiles, put a toilet in the bathtub with nothing under it and it stained the bottom of the tub (made you want your grandkids to take a bath in). When they broke a tile they just tried to cover it up. Did not have walls cut square. They left a lot of holes in the walls. They did move some lights and did that well except for the holes left around the ceiling lights. It was a waste of money. We had a sliding door removed from tub and they could not remove the resin. I had told them I would tape but I did not know the would leave it in such bad shape. They said they would fix that for another $600. This was over 5 days and only one day did they work a full day on it.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I encourage all customers to post their reviews weather positive or negative. We strive for high customer satisfaction but unforneantly we receive more negative reviews vs. positive. Our customer satisfaction score on a scale of 1-10 consistently runs in the 9.5 range. Seems like a lot of folks that are happy with their job feel they got what they paid for and don't feel the need to spread the word of their good experience. It's what they expected. Also it often comes down to price. They did not like our price quote so they post a negative review. Thanks Again Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Description of Work: Company claims to do "custom" bathroom remodels. After talking with their saleman and first inspector, I realized that what they are selling is a "canned" bathroom system. No deviation from their canned systems approach is allowed. They wanted 18 thousand for one bathroom and 16 for the other which is way to high for a "canned remodel". They do have some nice choices of materials within their packaged deal but their is no way to call out specific changes or specify light fixtures, faucets, shower heads etc. Avoid these people.

Description of Work: I should have followed my gut when during the initial appointment call, I was continually asked if I was the sole owner of the house. The sales consultant was prompt, however, that was the only positive of his visit. Not only did he never go up inside the attic to review what might be necessary to install radiant barrier, he didn't ever take any specific measurements! He based his quote on my estimation of the square footage of the house, not even the actual measurements of the attic. He was more interested in finishing his binder presentation going page by page. After 45 minutes, I finally asked for the quote. He calculated his price emphasizing the discount structure if signed on his first visit. The quote was 2.5x-3x more than the professional presentation I had received an hour before he arrived. If he is a true representative of Statewide(letting me know he had been in the business for 10 years), I would stay far away from this company.

Description of Work: Called Home Depot for bathroom remodel as had used them before in kitchen. They told me that Statewide would be the contractor unlike the kitchen where Home Dept was totally in charge. When the salesman showed up for the estimate, I thought I was buying a used car. Kept trying to convince us what a nice guy he was. 30 min conversation before he looked at the bathroom. 2 major issues 1. he only wants to install product that he has prices for at his fingertips as he prices right away.. we wanted cast iron bathtub and Silestone trim and shower. Convinced us to let him bid on Acrylic tub and another product for trim. Kept reminding us he was on comission so I guess we were supposed to feel sorry for him 2. After almost 2 hours he gives us a verbal offer at $47,000 and then says he will take 20% off if we sign up now ,if not he will not come back again...and this is still without anything in writing. Im sure with Home Depot backing the deal it would have been satisfactory in the end but who would spend that kind of money without the option of getting a second bid?

Response from Statewide Remodeling
I apologize that our representive came across as a used car salesman. Statewide Remodeling is the service provider for Home Depot bath remodeling for most of the state of Texas. We have been providing this service to Home Depot customers since 2009. We have been in business since 1994. I agree we have a limited product base when we come to a customers home. So i understand your frustration on not being able to get pricing on the exact items you where interested in. Our salespeople do recieve commission on their completed projects. No reason to feel sorry for them that is just the way our business is structured. Of course I was not there so i am just giving my opinion. We will return to a customers home as many times as it takes to get the design process complete. We also have a showroom north of DFW airport with a pretty extensive product selection. Many of our customers choose to meet their designer there to complete the design & product selection process. We are currently having a 20% sale on all bathroom remodeling. The prices quoated are good for 30 days. Our designers have what we call an appointment saver discount for folks who are ready to move forward with their project on our first visit. We know this is not for everyone but we do offer it to everyone. It will usually save the customer 5% or so of the 30 day bid. We offer this because our designers have 2-3 appointments 5-6 days a week and when we have to reschedule daily appointments to return to previous appointments to complete transactions it often upsets the current appointments we have to reschedule. This is a little difficult to explain. It does save us money by reducing lost opportunities so we pass that savings on to try and be as competative as possible with our pricing. We do not leave a written proposal until a customer has decided to move forward with a project. We do not charge for our estimates or have a design fee. Most companies charge a design fee so they have no problem leaving you a detailed bid that you paid for. Again I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. If we can be of further service please contact me directly. My phone number at my desk is 214-446-9031. If i do not answer I will return your call within 24 hours week days. We did not use them.
Description of Work: We are remodeling our bathroom and master bedroom. We met a representative from Statewide at Home Depot. We accepted an offer to get a free estimate for our project as we were in the process of retaining bids. This project we expect to be between 30-40k. The following Saturday a very nice man appears on time to discuss and prepare an estimate. While a very nice person, it took him 2 hours and 45 minutes to gather all he needed. I thought that was rather long compared to other contractors, but thought maybe he was really gathering lots of details that could be useful. As of today, we have yet to receive an estimate. A company representative followed up by phone with my husband three weeks after the consultation to see how it went. Even after reporting then we had not seen an estimate they still have not gotten back to us. Needless to say even if they get anything to us at this point we will not use them. To me this is a reflection of how the job might go, which would not be efficient or organized.

Description of Work: We had an estimate from statewide on remodeling my mother's bathroom and we had the same experience that another reviewer described. They believe in high pressure sales and because of this we will never use their company. Statewide responded to the reviewer that had a similar experience by saying that salesman had been fired. I believe this is the way the company operates. They would only come down on the price if I said they could have the job by that evening. Also, the salesman talked excessively about how wonderful the company was and repeated himself even after I had said I needed to be somewhere. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

As the owner of the company i have stated many times that we do offer a first inspection discount and have explained the reason why. So i won't explain it again. If someone is interested in seeing the explaination please read further down. We will always give a bid on a job and it is good for at least 30 days. I don't understand why some folks have a problem with this? If a customer wants us to lower our 30 day bid we will try to do our best but we ask for a commitment from the customer as well. If the price is good enough can we get your business today? All they have to say is yes or no. Some people get upset and i guess feel this is high preasure sales? We handle many different products and our costs on these can change at any time. To make a comparsion if you went into your grocery store and asked the produce guy if you could buy some potatoes at todays price 2 weeks from now what do you think he would say? The answer is "I don't know what the price will be in 2 weeks" Some people want you to cut your price down and they will think about it. We are a large company and do millions of dollars of business every month. We have warranties that we back up with our almost 2 decades of service in Texas. We work off of a printed retail price. We reduce that price based on any current offers. That price is good for 30 days. Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Description of Work: We asked a quote for a pergola. Wanted to see their aluminum product also. The experience we had was like attending a time share presentation in our home! We wanted to take him to the backyard where it will be built, but he wanted to talk first. Gave presentation using printed material and DVD in his laptop. Finally after an hour he went to the backyard to take a look where it will be built. When we asked question about the post, beam, rafter size, he did not know the answer. Just said it can sustain wind upto 160mph wind. But size was important to us, as we don't have a lot of space. He showed us sample after about 1.25 hour. Then he started calculating price. He asked us if we can guess the price, and if we can guess it within $500, he will reduce the price $250. It is like insulting us. Finally gave a price. And then started the pressuring on signing a contract then, will reduce price by 15% and then even more. It was the worst experience we had. Price quoted was 13k for 150 sq ft.

Response from Statewide Remodeling
Members, I apologize for the bad experience you had. I am not sure I understand the part about we also wanted a price on their aluminum product? We only sell & install aluminum. We do not build wood patio structures. Our full sales presentation usually takes 60-90 minutes depending on the product and the questions the homeowner asks. We try to tell every customer the time required when we make the appointment so there is a clear understanding. If we failed to do that my apologizes again. I will follow up with the sales person on Monday about the guessing the price because i certainly understand your frustration with that. Lastly on the pricing $13k for 150 sq. ft. is several times our printed retail price. So i will talk to the sales person and their manager on Monday as well. They are supposed to work off a printed price list. We do offer a first inspection discount which is less than our current offer and the amount varies by product. We do this to be able to give the most competative price possible. Our sales people have 2-3 appointments a day 6 days a week and although we give bids for comparsion we try to get the order when we are there the first time so we don't have to reschedule. Making second & third trips is costly to us & our customers because we have to cancel current appointments to go back to customers we gave bids to when they call wanting to place their order. We do this daily but it does upset customers when we call and tell them we can't make the appointment today because the sales person was called back to write the order for a customer they visited a few days or weeks ago. Our sales people cover an 85 mile radius from their office so their customers can be many miles apart. our sales offers are always good for 30 days so if a customer needs time to think about it or get other bids they can. We find that most of our customers have a good experience ( unlike yours) and the only thing stoping them from moving forward is the price. The first inspection discount can help some folks with that. We want to be as price competative as possible. we have been serving Texas homeowners for over 18 years. I am not aware of any other home improvement company that offers a satisfaction guarantee or your money back & workmanship guaranteed for as long as you own your home? I am proud of the company my partner & i started in 1994 so i am sorry you had a bad experience. I can assure you i will look into it.
