We were not happy at all. Time wise, there were just all kinds of problems. They didn't have things that matched. The work was sloppy. They have people come back and still it was not always done correctly. That project should have never taken too long. It took them about 3 to 4 months. I felt it was not done by professional people that knew what they were doing. Otherwise, a lot of these errors, mistakes and sloppy work that they had to come back and redo sometimes. It was unwarranted. You had to wait another several days before they redo the things they need to do. There wasn't anything that I can recall that they did the first time that was done correctly and professionally. The whole total thing was just a disaster. They said they like to order their stuff and have it all ready to go. So when they come out to start doing the job, the customer doesn't have to wait but that did not happen to us. It was that type of thing that just went on and on. We were just extremely dissatisfied.

[member name removed] Sounds like we defiantly missed the mark here. We strive to have complete customer satisfaction on every job but I will admit because of the volume we do it doesn't always happen. Our satisfaction survey usually puts us in the 97-98% range. When we do have issues like in your case we try to make up for it with free material upgrades, additional work at no charge or a discount off the contract price of the job. I will review your job folder tomorrow to see what went wrong and what we did to try and compensate for it. I will assume you where satisfied with the finished product? If you would like to discuss this with me my direct number is 214-446-9031. Frank Manzare VP/Partner

The salesman was a little late but very apologetic. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told the salesman would have a variety of options for me to see. He had lots of notebooks but very few options. The books were filled with information about the company and comparative studies of Statewide's products with their competitors' products. It was very informative but I felt completely exhausted after 2 hours of that. He finally got around to measuring the windows and writing out the quote. Both my husband and I felt it was exorbitant for 19 windows. We found it interesting that if we signed immediately, we could drop the $27,000 price to $21,000 or we could confirm the sale within 30 days for $24,000. It was definitely a hard sale tactic which was a total turn-off. Repeated explanations of the price/quality/warranty connection did not soften the price blow so we are moving forward to get another quote from another company. Would I use this provider in the future? I selected no because I only had two options but the jury is still out on that one. A hard sell and a high price will still have to be weighed against the overall quality. And I have to consider the reviews that indicated a problem with the actual work completed.
Description of Work: I was contacted in a timely manner to schedule an appointment. I was told that my husband would have to attend and that it would take a couple of hours to complete. I thought it odd that this was a requirement but did not question it. I was more concerned with the time element as I'd already had one estimate done by another company that did not take that long. I wondered if there would be a strong sales pitch.

(deleted member name) Thank you for taking the time to address your concerns on this forum. I would certainly never make the claim that Statewide Remodeling never has a problem with any of our jobs. We install over 300 jobs a month in Texas. My comment would be is we make every attempt to have flawless installations and when something is brought to our attention we address it immediately. We where the first and probably the only company I am aware of that gives you a written workmanship warranty that lasts as long as you own your home. We have been in business since 1994 so I believe that warranty means something. Every issue that has been addressed on this forum or anywhere that I am aware of has been personally dealt with by me. I am a founder of the company and still consider every job as important as the first one I sold in 1994. My concern with your situation is that it appears our representative did not do a very good job of explaining what I call our first inspection discount? It appears he did quote the job correctly. The top price would have been off our printed retail pricing. The middle price is our current offer price which is always good for 30 days and the lowest price is our first inspection discount. We offer the lowest price on our first visit as a courtesy to our customers who are ready to move forward and want the lowest price possible. This program is not for everyone and we understand that. There is no pressure to buy if you are not ready and satisfied with everything you have heard during the presentation. The first inspection discount roughly equates to the savings that is gained from us having to come back to your home a second or third time to consummate the sale. When this happens we have to reschedule other appointments and as you can imagine this upsets people and oftentimes we do not get the opportunity to get a second appointment when we cancel the first one because the rep is called back to a previous customer. We do not charge for our estimates and subsequently ask that all interested parties be at the appointment so that we can again reduce return visits as often as possible. I hope my attempt to explain the process has helped. If you have further questions I can be reached at my office most weekdays at 214-446-9031 which is my direct line Thank you for the opportunity to bid on your project. There are many good companies out there and I am sure you will find someone who can serve your needs Frank Manzare VP/Partner

On time and continually worked to finish the job.
Description of Work: I had all windows in my home replaced with double hung aluminum windows. The team arrived on time began working quickly and efficiently. Worked from 9am til 7pm but got the 14 windows installed. Cleaned up inside and outside and all windows were placed and sealed well. I feel the price was higher than I wanted but since I used them before I trusted their work was good quality.

[member name removed] Thank you for taking the time to submit a survey. A lot of people only seem to do this when there is a problem. I am guilty of this myself sometimes. I look at the finished project and think to myself this is what I pais for and expected, I thank the company and move on. So a big thank you for allowing us to work on your home for a second time. I will always agree that our prices will usually be higher than most other contractors. Without excuses from me the reasons are obvious. My business partner and I search for only the best products and demand that our installers do only top notch work. These products & quality labor cost a little more. We also offer a lifetime workmanship guarantee for as long as you own your home. With going on 20 years in business I believe these things are important and we will be here in the future if you need us. Thank you again for your continued trust in my company. During the sales pitch in our home, I perceived a red flag. I was informed that I, as the homeowner, was expected to go to a local hardware store and provide replacement wood and insulation should any rot be found during demolition. This seemed odd because I was paying $8240 to do the remodel. I contacted Statewide Remodeling and insisted that they provide the necessary material. I was promptly mailed a letter stating they would provide the necessary materials should any rot be found. When the installer arrived, he came with 2x4 lumber and a roll of fiberglass insulation. Demolition revealed damp lumber and insulation but no wood rot. After a problem with the drain installation that required the plumber to leave and retrieve a heavy duty electric hammer to break through the concrete, the 4 piece, vacuum formed, heavy polymer, faux tile remodel was completed in 3 days. When asked who would get the permits from city hall, let them get whatever permits are required. They know what is needed, and you are paying for them as part of the remodel. We were asked to spray bleach on the wet lumber and let it soak overnight instead of the promised Kilz product I was assured would be used as part of the remodel during the sales pitch. The Microban anti-mold treatment built into the polymer and silicone sealant used during installation should keep scrubbing to a minimum provided the cleaning instructions are followed.
Description of Work: Replaced bath tub and tile surround with a four piece shower pan and surround.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH A REP FOR STATEWIDE REMOLDING. Home Depot put me on their red beacon. I received a call from a phone rep. After I told her what I need done. She told me that bathrooms are 10 to 15 grand. Huh they don't even know the size of my bathroom. To make it short the walk through was a piece of paper he circled on. For example counters he circles. Next the estimate. 30 day price two bathrooms already done just need cosmetics. Easy stuff. kitchen, stain custom made cabinets already installed and granit counter tops. Total 30 day price 30,996. Sign right now 29,887. Where this number came from. I CANT SAY. He would look at circled paper then use calculator. Nothing broke down and nothing in detail. He told me any fixtures I purchased my self the contractors would put in. I pay labor. Ummm what the labor charge. So if I just wanted to pay each room this is the 30 day price master bath 14,916. Sign right now 11,932. Guest bath 30 day price 14,944. Sign now 9,351 with out walk in shower, leave bath tub add tile on wall. With walk in shower no tub no glass doors 10,460. Kitchen 30 day price 9,560. Sign now 8,604.They do not break it down. For example, like floor trim this much. Tile floor this many sq-ft this much. Then on the estimate sheet at bottom it says and quot;Do to high demand for our product we are not able to hire enough designers personnel to see everyone who inquire about our product. We do not like to miss any appointments this up sets many customers and they will not reset their appointment. To maximize our coverage we have authorized our designers personnel to offer a discount to those who are willing to make a decision on their first visit it seems fair to those customers who help us save money that we pass the saving back to them. We appreciate your help in this matter. This offer must be further accepted or declined on the day of initial appointment. Thank you for your considerationand quot;. Then below you sign accept or decline. I told the guy I was not making any commitments today. This was an estimate visit. And I felt pressured by just the writing. But then the difference in the price. The better deal I would think I would get. I stepped out, took a picture of the estimate sent via text to send to my boyfriend so we could discuss. The rep told me that people that don't sign the today price never call back. Well duh it's the hook and reel process. If the fish comes off the hook you lose it. So you HAVE to get it the first try. An this gives you NO chance to get other estimates. So the price stayed in the 10 to 15 grand range. They new from the first call I had no problem with this amount. Then he Lolly gagged me.... Came back with a high ball price an made it look good in lowering it, making me think I am getting a deal if I sign now. But really I would be getting rapped and not know it. My bathrooms are small. So is my kitchen. No way am I going to pay Home depot to get their cut then statewide remodeling cut. Nah I am cool. I can spend 2 to 3 grand on each bathroom and have it done pretty much the same way. There is no break down in the numbers. My opinion For example. The job is 2 grand in reality. Statewide remolding offers 6 grand they discount maybe 1 grand and you think you are getting a deal so you sign right there. I am thankful I did not sign. I believe I saved my butt A LOT of money....... Search Statewide remolding ripoff report and its the one from Garland... You will then know part of why I decided to share my experience with Angie's List and any other search engine I can find.

[member name removed] I am sorry we did not meet your expectations and it appears our estimator did not explain the process properly. The average price of a bathroom remodel we install is around $13,000. This is usually a complete remodel. without seeing your exact job I cannot tell you that your projects fall into this range. From you explanation of our visit it appears you have already had some remodeling done? I won't attempt to explain every step of your process but I can assure you we use an estimate sheet and we have a printed price list. It's not just some circles on a piece of paper. All our estimates are good for at least 30 days and yes some people do call us back. Again my apologies for our rep. telling you they never do. I will follow up with his manager to make sure he gets some re training and no other customers have to go thru your experience. We do offer a first inspection discount but it's not because we cannot hire enough designers. It is because if a customer is ready to get the work done and the price is the only issue by not having to reschedule a second or third appointment prevents us from cancelling current appointments when the designer has to return to a previous appointment. As I am sure you can understand when we call a customer at the last minute to cancel and reschedule their appointment ( because their designer got called back to a previous customer) they often times get upset and will not let us re schedule. This is the short version of how this works. We know this process does not work for everyone but it is our policy and we offer it to everyone. Sounds like your designer did not do a good job explaining it in your case. I am curious as to why you gave us an F for quality when we preformed no work? I can tell you that Home Depot demands high standards for the work we do for their customers. They have a process called VOC or voice of the customer. For our work to be considered satisfactory we have to achieve a score of 9.5 or higher on a 1-10 scale. I am happy to say we seldom fall short. Again my apologizes for our short comings in your case. If I can be of further service to you or your boyfriend in this process my direct number is 214-446-9031 Frank Manzare VP/Partner

[member name removed] Thank you for taking the time to do an Angie's list survey. I really appreciate it when a satisfied customer who actually had us do the work responds. Most of the time happy customers understand they got what they paid for and move on. I believe that is they way it should be and after almost 20 years of remodeling homes in Texas I believe that is the case with 90+% of our customers. They look at the finished product, smile and get back to their lives. The best part for me of your survey was the fact that we had an issue but it was corrected to your satisfaction. I personally handle customer complaints when they go beyond our normal channels of field supervisors/project managers. When I do get one, although rarely the first thing I do is review the file and talk to ever person in my company who is involved. So my point here is our people know that customer satisfaction is #1 on my list. I can't make the mistake go away but we can sure show the customer we are committed to make it right. Thanks again for your business and the time you took to write this survey Frank Manzare VP/Partner

[member name removed] First let me thank you for your business and the trust you placed in my company to do your project. It's always great to see a positive response from a customer. It seems most of the negative responses we get are from home owners who we did not do work for. Their complaints usually revolve around the price or that we asked for both people to be there for the estimate. As you know we do not charge for our estimates and I believe some people don't appreciate the fact that our designers have a family to support and their time is valuable to them as well. So thank you for taking the time to sit down with us so we could explain your project and ultimately do a great job for you as you have stated here. We typically always get high marks on everything with the exception of price. I have never stated in any ad & I speak on the radio on a regular bases about my company that we are a low cost provider. We do provide top tier work and use " best practice" procedure's. Thank you again for business and please keep us in mind in the future if another project comes along on your home that we can help with Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Overall, this was a very poor experience with this company.
Description of Work: Like other reviewers have posted, there is a representative in Home Depot. I made an appointment but the initial phone conversation went wrong. They wanted my husband present, due to the expense of the job, even though they had no idea what we wanted done. I called the store manager at Home Depot and complained. The company Statewide showed up the next day, with a "throw out" estimate of 14,000 to remodel a shower stall with tile. What a joke. I do not understand who would be dealing with these people. we had a bad experience before the job was even estimated. That was enough for me. It was obvious they did not want our business whatever it was.

[member name removed] I will assume that the address shown is not the present location of your homes? Statewide Remodeling does not service any area outside of Texas. Having clarified that let me please explain that we do not charge for estimates or designs so we do ask that all parties interested in the bath project be present when our representative comes out. This seems fair and 99% of the customers we talk to agree. I don't know your circumstances but again it appears a designer came to your home and gave you a bid on your project? It is our policy that we will stay at the customers home as long as necessary to get them the information they need. We do not do complete designs without all parties present and do not leave these for the customer unless they are doing the work with us. We do the design and give the bid. At that point it's up to the customer to decide. All our bids are good for 30 days. I am sorry we did not supply you with what you needed. These are the people walking around Home Depot trying to get your business. They wouldn't make an appointment with just me. They required that my Husband be there too. I got multiple calls regarding the appointment - A little excessive. And they kept asking me about the and quot;sunroomand quot; estimate that I needed. I needed a bathroom remodel, not a sunroom -- Get it right. The estimator showed up on time. He listened to what we wanted in the bathroom remodel. THEN we sat down to listen to his speel. He immediately went into the whole thing about an average bathroom remodel costs $50K...blah, blah, blah. He spent 15 minutes telling us more than we ever needed to know about the company, the history, etc. Then proceeded to show up tile samples that we could choose from. I asked what the price per square footage was and I got a blank look. He then admitted that he didn't know. So, if you don't know how are you going to provide us a quote. He said the price is and quot;built inand quot;. Ok, whatever. Yada, Yada, Yada...got to the quote and it was TWICE as much as any of the other quotes that we got for the same scope. HOME DEPOT you should be ashamed of yourselves for partnering with these crooks.

(deleted member name) I apologize that you feel my company is crooked but I can assure you we are not. Do we charge the same prices as everybody else in the remodeling business, no? In most cases I would agree with you we are higher but I personally have studied what 80-90% of our competitors ( who are still in business) offer and they cannot match our experience level or the options we include in our projects. In most cases they don't even know things like weidi board exists. We have to pass extensive background checks before we can even hire a person to represent Home Depot. Most contractors hire anybody who can lay tile and send them out to your home to give you a bid. I am sorry our representative did not give you the square foot pricing. He should have explained to you that we bid by the complete job and not the foot. That is why he took the time to explain the Home Depot process and who Statewide Remodeling is in reference to Home Depot. We also install sunrooms for Home Depot so that may explain why it was mentioned. No excuses here we should have got that right. Again my apologizes for not getting you the information the way you wanted it and a price that was more in line with you wanted to spend. We do try to have all interested parties at the appointment. Our estimates are free but as you can imagine our time is limited but we want everyone who wants an estimate to get one. We will do a design on the largest bathroom or even a kitchen with no charge to our customers. Ask most other companies to do that and they will tell you they have a "design fee" One last thing Home Depot surveys completed jobs. On a scale of 1-10 they require we maintain a 9.5 or better or we have failed in Home Depot's eyes. I am proud to say we very seldom fall below that mark. We were at the FW stock show and discussed a bathroom remodel with their representative. They scheduled and appointment and arrived when they agreed to. The young man they sent was extremely knowledgeable about the product and the company. He measured the bathroom and quoted us a price. We are sure we could have had a cheaper price, but with the warranty and large company ‘Statewide’, we chose to move forward with them. They followed up letting us know when the products were arriving. Scheduled the install and were here when they agreed to be. They were concerned that our hardwood floors were covered. Installation was a major task but handled professionally. We are very pleased with the installation.

My husband stopped in their store at the mall while he was waiting for something else at the Mall. He spoke to the representative, and then called me and I went to speak to the representative at the Mall and asked lots of questions which she had answers for. We set up a date for the Salesman to come and give us more details on the windows and take measurements. The process went very smoothly. The City Inspector came the next day and inspected the job we did not have any issues, and now we have clear beautiful windows. Overall the time from asking questions to the installation took approximately 4-5 weeks. Statewide remodeling in on your (Angie's List). We did receive discount because they are on Angie's list.

I know how you feel about your new windows. I remember when I replaced the ones in my house. Aside from having to clean them from time to time they really make a difference. There is more to them than just being more energy effecient. Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We work very hard to make sure our customers are happy with our service. 2/2012 This was our second or third estimate on a redo of our master bath, home built by us in 1980. One of our neighbors had the same job done quite well several years prior for around $16,000.00, and has the same floorplan as we do (same builder, same vintage). We spent around 3 hours with the Statewide sales person with the first 1/2 hour dealing with how wonderful Statewide is. When all was said and done, our first estimate from Statewide was for $37,000.00. With our home recently appraised for $155,000.00, it would have cost us 24% of the value of our house to have the job done by Statewide. With some more discussion and several offers from them to drop the price because we had recruited them at the Home and Garden show, we ended up with a price of around $19,000.00 with only half of our needs met. We ultimately had the complete job done by another contractor for around $18,000.00, and done to our satisfaction, although it took twice as long as we were told (par for the course I guess?). I have heard from others that Statewide gives quite high estimates, and I do believe it. Would definately get several estimates and references before signing a contract. I am sure that Statewide does excellent and professional work, as the plan from them looked great, but at a primium cost.

Thank you for your review. I wish our prices where the lowest in town but they are not and never will be. I will not compromise on the quality of our products and our workmanship. I guarentee our workmanship in writting for as long as you own your home. Since Statewide Remodeling has been in business for 19 years I believe that means something. I employ a full time customer service dept. and a quality control manager to watch over every job we do. We install about 200 bathroom remodels a month which makes us the number one bathroom remodeling company in Texas. Unfortunantly these services add to our overhead. But I can assure you will we be here down the road if one of our customers needs us. I am glad you got what you where looking for at a lower price Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Member Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We appreciate your business. I know our prices are higher than the average bear but as you know first hand we don't comprimise on quality. We will also be here if you need us in the future should any workmanship or warranty issues arise. As a long time homeowner myself it puzzles me how people want to compare Statewide Remodeling's prices to the guy working out of his truck but most people don't know that the first disclaimer in every manufactures warranty is workmanship and they will use it every time as an out. So if you can't find the company who installed it to do the repair or replacement most of the time you have no warranty. You have a product on your home that my partner and I hand picked and in our opinion is the best in the industry and it will last for years to come. Thanks again Frank Manzare VP/Partner

My husband and I had a Statewide Remodeling rep come to our house to give us an estimate on windows. Probably the worst consult I have ever had with a contracting company. The rep was very condenscending to me, when we were talking about what we wanted done exactly (doors and windows) I mentioned that I would like a storm door from the laundry room to the garage enterance. The rep's response to me was and quot; Now why would you want that?and quot;. This was his attitude towards me through out the entire consult. When we went on to discuss price, he wrote some figures down on a form. When we told him that we couldn't afford that amount that day, that we still needed to have some other companies come out to give us bids. He grabbed the brochorues and estimate that he had written out and pratically ran out of the house slamming the door behind him. I will never go with Statewide Remodeling. And, having spoken to other contractors and looked at other brands of windows. It looks as if Statewide's prices are twice as high as everyone else's so far.

As always there are two sides to every story. If this homeowner feels my representative was rude then i will assume they where and appoligize. The window rep who came to there home has worked for Statewide Remodeling for many years and i have never had a complaint of this nature on him. It does puzzel me how we also recieved a C for quality, responsivenes & punctuality? They never used our product & we showed up on time. Statewide Remodeling has been in business since 1994 we have installed thousands of windows in Texas with very few problems. We are not perfect but with almost 19 years serving Texas homeowners when we are made aware of a problem we correct it. I have discussed this situation with our representative and made him aware of this homeowners review Frank Manzare VP/Partner

Don't pay them, especially if you have another contractor involved, without a complete accounting of what you are paying for. I do not believe this company is ethical. At all.
Description of Work: They didn't do the work they contracted to do and didn't pay the subs, which added greater than $8,000 I had to pay. I will be suing them. This is not a company I would ever recommend doing business with. I will have to sue them to get my money back. I don't believe them to be honest people. I would recommend that you run away from them.

There are always 2 sides to ever story and this definantly applies here. The rest of this story is that this customer had several contractors involved in this project. This was a fire restoration that Statewide Remodeling got involved in. We have documentation as to one of the customers other contractors doing work we had a written contract to do. They also damaged our cabinets after we installed them. We went back at no charge and did repairs. We have also offered to reduce the price of our contract for the work the customer allowed another contractor to do that was in our written agreement. Customer is asking for more of a reduction than we had charged for the agreed work. I am sorry he feels it necessary to write a derogatory report and use Angies list as a forum to, in what is my opinion slander my company. I stand behind every job we do and contract we write. If he is asking for something that is justified I will give it to him..no questions asked. If he wants to talk about it my direct line is 214-446-9031. I can be reached during normal business hours and return all calls within 24 hours. Frank Manzare VP/Partner

1. Estimator was 10-15 minutes late and did not call to notify me he was running late. 2. He did not seem very interested in being there and seemed quite irritated that I was asking questions. 3. I told him exactly which windows I was looking to replace at this time. When he measured he completely skipped two of them, even though they were on either side of a larger window. 4. He said he would email me the estimate - others have given me an estimate right then and there, even if it required logging on to their computer and taking a little time. 5 I never received the estimate - I checked both my inbox and my spam folder - no email. 6. I had been told twice that this process would take an hour to an hour and a half. He was there 15 minutes max.
Description of Work: I talked with a very nice woman at the State Fair and agreed to have someone come out that week to give me an estimate on some windows and a back door. I've been getting estimates from a few companies and have heard the name "Statewide Remodeling" quite often so I was interested to see what they had to offer.

Member I apologize that you did not get the estimate you had requested from my company. I can think of no excuse for our representative's behavior or lack of follow up. I will find out on Monday 10-15 who was at your home and get the price for your windows to you. At least you will have it for comparsion. Again my apologizes. I requested a quote from Statewide to completely redo my wood siding with Hardie Board. The appointment I was supposed to have on Friday was for the quote. What I got instead was a hard sell on a different product. The salesperson showed up about five minutes early. My wife was at home and invited him to get started. He declined while he waited for me to arrive. When I got home, the salesperson came inside rather than taking measurements or beginning any sort of estimate. For the next half hour, the salesperson tried to explain to us why Hardie Board is a bad product and why we should purchase Statewide's vinyl siding instead. All I can guess is that Statewide's margins on the vinyl are higher than the Hardie Board--hence the effort to push us towards a different product. After the sales pitch, the salesperson showed us a sample of vinyl panel and left. He did not take measurements. He did not even look at the back of the house. Statewide makes a big deal about both spouses being at home for the quote. My wife asked why, and their answer was that they find they have to make a second trip to answer questions if one spouse isn't there for the appointment. Well, now we would have to have make a second trip to get a quote because the salesperson did not do what he was asked to do. Further, if I am going to spend $20K on a project, then two trips to answer questions should not be an issue. Finally, I found that the salesperson was very disrespectful to my wife. He essentially acted as if she had no role to pay in the this process and as if I was the only person he needed to address. That was a gross miscalculation. All in all, the appointment was a complete waste of time that required my wife and I to take off work for a sales pitch on a product we did not want notwithstanding the fact that we invited Statewide out to give a specific quote on a specific product. I won't be dealing with a company that wastes my time, treats my wife poorly, and cannot fulfill a simple customer request.
