Our experience with Statewide Remodeling was mediocre at best. We originally went with Statewide through Home Depot. We liked that fact that the job was backed through Home Depot, that all of their people are background checked, and that Statewide doesn't get paid until the job is 100% complete. For this guarantee and leverage, we were willing to pay a premium. Our initial interactions were very good. They helped us pick out exactly what we wanted, and they use good quality materials. The job started in a reasonable time frame, and work progress quickly at first. But after three weeks or so things started to slow down. One section of the vanity was damaged during installation, so a replacement was ordered. When the replacement finally arrived, it was the wrong side of the vanity and it had to be reordered. All this delayed the project by 5 to 6 weeks. We were without a fully functional bathroom for nearly 10 weeks, which is well beyond the time Home Depot allows for this type of job. Home Depot didn't know the job wasn't complete, because we signed what we thought was a sheet confirming the punch list items still to complete and another stating what had been completed. Shame on us for not reading it closer, because Statewide actually tricked us into signing a completion form. This allowed them to get their month about 6 weeks earlier than they should have. To Statewide's credit, they have continued to back their work and complete the project. Overall, the quality of the work has been good. The finished product looks good and the products used were as advertised. But there are several things that disappointed us about the service overall. First, we had several small errors made by the plumber and electrician that shouldn't have happened. These were just little things that should be easily avoided by and quot;professionaland quot; tradesman. Second, we thought by paying a premium that the most qualified people would be used for each task on the job. I learned after the wall texturing was done (below standard in many areas) that the crew working on our job weren't the and quot;texture guysand quot; as our superintendent put it. The main crew was also asked to do some minor carpentry work that they were unqualified to do and seemed uncomfortable with. Lastly, the biggest issue we had overall was the main crew doing our job. They were very good at certain tasks. But when we hired Statewide we felt like crews would all be top notch and dedicated to quality. While Statewide is dedicated to getting the job right, they hire crews that get paid based solely on work completed, just like everyone else. The result is at times sloppy work, lack of proper clean-up, and people willing to do jobs for which they are not fully qualified. The job is now complete, and we have what I think is a beautiful bathroom. But they joy my wife and I should feel is tainted by the experience we've had with Statewide. Based on this job, we feel like we overpaid for what we got. We will not use Statewide again, and I would not recommend them to anyone. ***UPDATE*** We are having a minor electrical problem in the bathroom Statewide remodeled. I have called six times over the last month or so, and each time they said they would contact the electrician to set something up. I have never heard from him. Finally, they gave me the electrician's number. I don't trust their electrician at all, so I'd rather hire my own even thought the work is still under warranty. I have downgraded my review of their service.

My apologizes for the bad experience you had with my company. We strive to do the job right every time but we do make mistakes. I am not aware of my company tricking anyone? It would certainly never be anything that was condoned. We also live and die by a VOC survey that Home depot does during and after a job is completed. This is what Home Depot calls Voice of The Customer and we are required to score a 9.5 or better on a scale of 1 to 10. So if they have not contacted you for the VOC survey you will hear from them soon and have an opportunity to respond directly If I can be of further service I can be reached at 214-446-9031 Frank Manzare Co Owner Statewide Remodeling

The entire job went extremely well. We were visited by their salesmen and designer, who spoke to us about our ideas for the remodel. They brought along samples for us to view and decide on based on our budget. They called 2 weeks later arrange a meeting with a construction rep who measured the walls and floor. He gave us a guide to inform us what to take off the walls and how to prepare for the install. He also told us that we would be called when our cabinet had arrived. Two weeks after we received a call from Statewide informing us that the cabinet had arrived and asking for a date to install. On the day of installation we met the Program Manager and Installer, and reviewed the paperwork to ensure that we understood specifically what would be done. The Installer (Carlos) was very efficient and the work area was very clean. We had no problems with dust or debris throughout the process. He made sure to cover our floors and keep any dust/ debris inside the bathroom. He removed the tub, old cabinet and flooring with no problems or marking any of the walls or floors. His tiling next to the tub wall and the floor was beautiful. Unfortunately the replacement tub had a small nick in the porcelain, so Carlos removed and replaced it. Throughout the process we were called by Statewide Reps and visited by the Program Manager to ensure that the installation was going smoothly. I was somewhat concerned about the cost of the project, but could no be happier with the result and attention provided by both Carlos and Statewide staff.

Like other reviews, it was high pressure sales. Guy spent THREE hours at the house. Played the guessing game, too, after showing the national average price of a patio cover (over $10,000) and in Texas (over $9,000). After all the "discounts", my price would ONLY be $6,794 for a 200 sf cover. But I was given NO estimate of the cost of the materials or the labor. I was also told it would cost an EXTRA THOUSAND DOLLARS to have the old cover torn down and taken away. REALLY? For $6800 you don't make that included? When I talked to someone who knew a guy who did this kind of work and knew the costs of the materials I wanted - which came to between $3000 and $3300, that left $3500 for labor. For a one day job, $3500 divided by 8 hours = $437.50 per hour labor cost. REALLY? I was told if I didn't sign up "now" to have Statewide do the work (and give $100), it would cost me if the sales dude had to come back out. What kind of monkey business is THAT? I foolishly signed all the paperwork and forked over $100. I subsequently, the next da,y spent money for an overnight letter to be delivered to CANCEL my 'contract'. That bid was EXTREMELY high and I have had 2 others since then, for just as nice a patio cover, at a couple thousand $ less. And don't tell me it won't be as high a quality as Statewide can give. That's ridiculous. You were taking advantage of a single woman and I didn't fall for it. You don't pressure people into making a decision when you're the first estimate. It's a huge turnoff. No other company did that to me.

[member name removed] my apologizes for the bad experience you feel you had with my company but I have to say most of that responsibility lies with our rep who obviously did not explain the process of our appointment saver discount to you. Our representative's are required to quote everyone a price that is good for 30 days. Our estimates are free there is no charge for the time our people spend at someone's home helping them pick out product and in many cases designing a full kitchen remodel or bathroom. It is not high pressure sales as you put it. it is good business sense to get the job started asap if the customer is ready and price is an issue. It saves the customer money and most are happy about that. I have no doubt that you can find many other companies and sales dude's that can give you a lower price and if that is your goal I am happy that you found what you where looking for. As to quality, service after the sale etc I cannot speak to what others will do. I can tell you that my company has been in business for 20 years and offers a lifetime warranty on workmanship among other things. To me that benefit from a 20 year old company means something. As a single woman ( my mother raised me) that should mean something to you. As you probably already know some people will tell you anything to get a down payment. In your case a down payment of $100 is much less than the 20% we normally require. So that would be all the money you had invested in your project from Statewide until it was complete and you where satisfied. That means something to me. Again sounds like our representative did not explain the whole process correctly. So sorry for the confusion and I will deal with that. It does appear they explained the value of the quality product we offer. We do not give breakdowns as to labor, material etc as we only sell installed products. I do not agree with your computations even though your math is correct. There is a little more to running a business that just the labor cost to install the product. If you have any further questions or concerns I can be reached at my direct line at 214-446-9031 Frank Manzare Co-Owner Statewide Remodeling

Thank you for taking the time to right a response. Often times we just hear when there is a problem and I do want to know when we miss the mark so that we can either correct the issue or learn from our mistake. We have been in business for 20 years and we have made some mistakes but have always strived to make the customer happy. We are not the lowest price in town but take pride in making sure what we offer our customers is the best available product and top quality installation. If we can ever be of service to you again please give Statewide a call. Thank you for your business and the trust you placed in us. Frank Manzare Co-Owner

Customer Satisfaction/Completion Form (As of March 25, 2014) Bottom Line: If Statewide Remodeling is not happy unless they get a “10” on a customer satisfaction survey, the company has a long ways to go. Project: Two Bathroom Remodels I am writing this review rather than checking off blocks, which tell you nothing. Because of the complexity of the project and the different people involved, I will provide a score for each person. 1. Overall Shopping Experience: 6 of 10 a. Tracy (Salesman) was personable and fairly well-informed. He did not use pressure tactics. One of his main selling points was that Statewide Remodeling is not a “Chuck in a Truck” operation. b. Tracy provided samples of products and materials. c. I rate the overall shopping experience a “6” because of the measure/consult and communication sections described below. 2. Measure/Consult Overall: 3 of 10 a. When we agreed to use Statewide, Tracy began the measure/consult process. My understanding was that we were setting out a generalized scope of work. Tracy told me that an “estimator” would visit us after his initial sales work. Tracy filled out what I thought were planning documents. We later learned that these sheets were the final contract. Tracy did not explain that to us. b. Tony, who I thought was the overall boss of the project (general contractor) came to our home about two weeks later (after three appointment resets). He looked into the bathrooms with me. Tracy had told me to leave the soffit in the master bath shower; but Tony told me to take it out so that the shower surround could be taken all the way to the ceiling. c. Tony had no paperwork or forms in hand. He made the comment that “it looks like we’re doing some electrical work for you.” d. The old ceramic-tiled walls were still intact when Tony visited. We discussed how difficult it was to remove the old concrete/wire meshed ceramic tiles and that the sheetrock would be destroyed up to the top of the tiles. All the walls in both bathrooms were tiled four feet high. e. I can’t imagine how anyone came up with the idea that only 50 square feet of drywall work would be required when all the sheetrock had to be removed up to four feet from the floor. f. The actual “consulting” process was non-existent (explained in the Communication section). 3. Product overall: 10 of 10 All the materials used so far have been high quality and fully met my expectations. 4. Value Overall: a. The Installer (Joe) 10. Joe has been superb. He is a hard worker and a craftsman who obviously cares about the quality of work he does. b. The Supervisor (Tony) 4. The other supervisor (Roger Norman) 5. Roger was only here on two occasions and then apparently left the company; but he did consult with Joe about some techniques to use in the master bath shower remodel. More about Tony in the communications section below. c. The first Plumber (Andy) 1. Andy seemed okay when the job started; but it turned out he lied to me about pulling the building permits from the city. He also told me on two ocassions that he would be here at certain times/days and then did not show up. (When the work was done, I stepped in to enjoy my first shower in the new bathroom, only to discover that the hot and cold supply lines were reversed. So the valve works backwards, which does nothing to protect anyone from being scalded.) d. The second Plumber (Scott) 5. At least Infinity Plumbing did get the building permit mess straightened out. Gina, who called me from Infinity a few times, seemed very capable and went out of her way to answer my questions and to follow up with promises. When the plumber came to set the toilets, he was in and out quickly. When I checked his work later, I found that the toilet in one bathroom was like sitting on a rocking chair. In the other bathroom, the toilet flooded the floor when it was flushed. (Wax seal not set properly, I guess.) I called Statewide, and the plumber came and fixed the toilets. e. Statewide Remodeling. Up to this point: 5 Statewide’s sales pitch was that I wouldn’t be working with a “Chuck in a Truck.” Except for calls from Samantha at Statewide and Joe, the Installer, I really can’t see how Statewide has contributed much value to this remodeling project. I hired Statewide to avoid working with irresponsible subcontractors. I feel very fortunate that we had Joe working in our home as the installer. But the first plumber was a “Chuck in a Truck.” And Tony, in my view, did not add anything to your value proposition. The second plumber was, in the end, not much better. I wouldn’t call them again. 5. Communication Overall: a. Joe (Installer) 10 . Joe kept us informed about what would happen next, when he would arrive, what he planned to accomplish for each day, etc. He also sought my feedback on each step of the process. b. Andy (Plumber) 0I can’t imagine why a person in business for himself would lie to his customer about something as mundane as pulling a building permit. c. Statewide Overall 5 When I think of the word “remodel” I think of a package deal: tear out the old stuff, fix the plumbing and structural issues, rewire as needed for current code, install drywall, tile, acrylic panels, top out the roughed-in wiring with switches and receptacles, paint, install baseboards and moldings around doors that had to be removed in demo process. In other words, provide a “turn key” operation. When the work is done the bathrooms are completely finished Tony had told me in a phone conversation that “we (Statewide) will paint before the cabinets are installed. Then I find out, “that’s not in the contract”. “Moldings are not in the contract.” “Nothing that is not listed on those yellow copies is in the contract.” Quite honestly, that business model is pathetic. It would be like buying a new car and then finding out that it had no spark plugs. “Well, you didn’t ask for those.” You can run your business however you wish, but you should present the customer with full disclosure: “If it’s not on these spec pages, it’s not included.” For example, the customers should know that if they want an outlet cover, they have to specify it. And one thing I definitely do not want is someone calling me from Statewide to quibble about the way I have rated your work. I will be more than happy to give more details about why I don’t think you provided professional installation services. 6. Workmanship Overall: a. Joe: 10 If I had found Joe when I began planning this project, I would not have needed Statewide at all. b. Plumber: 5. i. Tony did say that the plumber would install new pipe nipples for the toilets and sinks. I am hoping that will include valves and lines to the sinks and toilets. ii. Tony also said that after the countertops were installed, the plumber would come back to connect the sink supply lines and drains. 7. Completion on-time overall: This is all because of the foul-up on the permit for the shower and tub and the inspection. Joe has been working around the delays in the plumbing process. 8. Satisfaction Overall: a. Installer: 10 b. Plumber: 4 c. Statewide Remodeling: 6 I might use Statewide again, but if YOU don’t have any experience with remodeling/construction, keep looking. 9. Installer on Time: 10 10. Installer Courtesy: 10 11. Installer Cleanup: Not rated pending completion, but I’m confident Joe will do this job equally well. 12. Installer Complete on-time: 10 Joe was delayed by others, factors beyond his control.

It turned out to look very nice, but it took longer than I expected. My husband was not too pleased about the price, because he has been in construction for 30 years, and he thought that it was exorbitant, and so at that point, we didn't have them do any more, and he ended up doing it himself. He did around the bath tub and the tiles, and he put down the floor tiles as well. We saved a lot of money with him doing it. The quality of work was excellent. Some days we waited, and they didn't show up.
Description of Work: I used Statewide Remodeling to remodel a shower in our bathroom, last summer. They took down the old tile, and put a new pan in the bottom. The adjusted where the drain was, and they build a half wall on one end, and put in a seat on the corner. They put new tile on the bottom, and the side, they put in a new shower glass, faucets, and shower heads.

I saw Statewide at the TX fair and I really liked their display. I agreed to have a free estimate at my house. The salesman did a wonderful presentation when he talked about the quality of the window and the installation process. I really wanted energy efficient windows that also had safety features built into to it. That is what sold me. I like knowing that someone needs to use a sledge hammer to break into these windows and someone can't just pry them open. I also love energy efficiency. Our house was built in the 90's and just leaked energy like crazy. My husband and I decided to purchase windows for the entire house. We have a custom home with a lot of very long large windows. The back the house is almost all windows. It's beautiful when the sun shines in, but was bad for energy efficiency. After we signed the contract the windows were measures within a few days and were installed about 4-5 weeks later. The installers were very nice guys and it looked like they knew what they were doing. It took them 2 days to install the windows. I was so happy with the way the guys installed the windows that I bought them some coffee on their second day as a way to say thank you and warm them up because they were working in the cold. They showed me how to use the window and operate all the moving parts. One of the windows that needed replacing, was letting some water into the house and you could tell by the water stains. They notified me of the problem and made sure to put some extra silicone in place so water could no longer enter. They also found that the reason water was getting into my old window was because of a gutter that was not secured properly. These installers went above and beyond and fixed my gutter for me by securing it in place and using silicone to help the water flow properly. I'm no longer worried about future water damage in that spot because I know that the problem was fixed. Thank you installers! I have small windows in my back door and I haven't replaced them yet, but if you hold your hand on the door glass and hold your other hand on the new window glass you can feel the difference. I've also noticed that I can feel the heat coming into the house from my back door and not the windows. These windows seem to be doing their job. I am very happy with my windows. They are beautiful and they operate smoothly. I can tell that I'm also saving money because my energy bills are lower. I waited a few months to write this review because I wanted to make sure the windows were working and nothing strange happened after installation. I'm looking for problems with these windows and I can't find any. They are simply awesome. Thank you!

The Sales pitch was fine, of course you get the additional discount if you sign today, so we don't have to make another trip. I wanted references since I was chaging style of the two large windows. I had to call back but was able to drive by a house with simular style. My mistake was not walking up to take a close look. The service manager did call to let me know when the windows were ready to be installed. The installation was on-time and the crew was nice. I'm happy with the Windows, but it's the silicon around the window. It just look sloppy and more like finger painting and not very professional. (see pictures) I did ask the Lead Installer about it at the time of installation and he said that is just the way they do it. I then emailed Frank Manzare to forward to the FIeld Manager and Received call back from Field Supervisor. I explained to him and requested he come look and let me know if that was correct. His voicemail said that Yes it was correct. So, I feel I have given Statewide several chances to make corrections, but even though the service tech said on the phone they have had this complaint before, it was just the way they do it. So I'm certain it is sealed and it's all correct, but the method is just different than other installers. I have comparred to several of my neighbors, which looks nice and clean lines and they agree my don't look right. I still have the back of house to install new windows, but will probably use someone else. If you want a look that I would think of as a DO-IT-Yourself look, then you will be happy. UPDATE: After I did review, Statewide came out and said they wanted me to be happy. The installer put another piece of trim over all the silicon which provided a much cleaner and professional look. I personally think that is the way all installs should be done. Very happy now.

We have had multiple break-ins in our neighborhood. These two punks probably worked for STATEWIDE but this is also a nice way to CASE homes for later attack.
Description of Work: Two unshaven so-called SALESMEN came to our door on a Saturday, IGNORING the NO SOLICITING sign prominently displayed. I would never do business with a company so shady as to disrespect a homeowners obvious wishes for privacy and quiet. UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 14, 2014. I have now confirmed with at least two neighbors that these kids were wearing STATEWIDE REMODELING shirts and representing themselves as being with STATEWIDE REMODELING. Our neighborhood H.O.A. crime/police chair is gathering more info. Please do the research, this company is well known for high pressure sales tactics aimed at the elderly. As per Statewides request, since they will never have the huevos to admit what they do, we are indeed gathering more evidence.

Our sales people do not go door to door. Without names ( anyone that works for Statewide Remodeling is back ground checked & wears an ID badge) I cannot verify that they where Statewide employees. If you are having burglaries in your neighborhood and strangers are ignoring your no solicitors sign I would suggest calling the police not filing a derogatory review on Angie's list. If you have more information you would like to share on this matter I can be reached at my direct line 214-446-9031 Frank Manzare VP/Partner

We have used them before to do our windows in our house. I like their services, and the end results. We had gotten a special price from the state fair. We are happy with the results. They are very responsive, and on time.
Description of Work: We used Statewide Remodeling. They resurfaced the bathtub and shower and installed new fixtures.

Statewide Remodeling employees did not provide me their own booklet of instructions for how to prepare for the work they were going to do. I was not even aware of the booklet's existence until the day I was paying the project manager. When I told her that I had never seen one when she referenced it in response to my complaint of their making such a mess in my house. She went to her truck and got me one. After reading it, it would have helped some but my wife and I feel it needs to be updated with more specific information included to prepare the customer for the work to be done. After we scheduled (during the last week of July) for the work to begin on September 9, 2013, we did not hear from the company until the workmen showed up for work that day. I called the production manager on Friday, September 6th to confirm the scheduled work start and to ask a question but she was not there and did not call back. The workers made such a mess in our entire house (I did not think to take pictures at that time but would have been more than glad to include them in this had I done it) - not only from the dust (since we were not told to remove our clothes from cabinets, drawers or closets, our clothes had to all be washed or cleaned after the job completion) but they did not carefully cover the carpet on their path to/from the work area. They tracked the popcorn throughout my house after scraping it the 2nd day of work. After they left for the day, I vacuumed the house from my kitchen to the master bathroom where the work was being done before my wife came home from work and saw the mess. When they were removing the wallpaper, the lead worker pulled the toilet in order to get the wallpaper behind it. In doing this, he replaced the shutoff valve but left it leaking to be found after leaving for the day. He also spilled water from the toilet on the carpet in front of it. I discovered the wet carpet when I got on my knees to check the dark wet square of carpet below the shutoff valve. I kept a pan under the valve all night, emptying it more than once. I called my project manager that night about 7 PM and she told me she was with a customer and would call me back. She did not return my call until the next morning about 7:15. My project manager's boss offered (promised) to have the carpet shampooed (due to the tracking of the popcorn and spilling of water from the toilet on my carpet) when the job was complete. I waited half a day for the man who was to shampoo the carpet without him showing. Again my project manager's boss made a promise (still not kept) - of a $200 gift card from Home Depot to compensate me for my time. At the completion of the job (on September 24th after 15 days for what was initially supposed to be 5-7 work days), I told my project manager that due to my experience, I would not allow Statewide Remodeling back in my house for any other job and I still feel that way. A month after paying for the job and after the gift card was promised, I had not received it so I called my project manager about it and some areas in the paint job where I was dissatisfied with the appearance of the paint. She came to my house, assured me her boss again had arranged for a gift card a second time, and attempted to fix the paint job herself. At that time, I told her the toilet rocked following their removing/replacing it. When a plumber came to reseat the toilet, he pulled the toilet, revealing there was no texture or paint behind the toilet. While he waited, I painted the wall behind the toilet even though I didn't have any texturing mud to apply. I am writing this on November 21, 2013 (after a 2-month wait) and contacted my project manager today about not receiving the promised gift card once again. After we talked, her boss called to tell me and quot;I bought you a gift card with my own money today. It is another department's responsibility to send those cards out.and quot; To me, it was his responsibility because he made the promise but didn't have the integrity to accept responsibility for his own promises and admit that he had not insured that I had received the card. During the time I was typing this, the quality control officer from Statewide called, asking why they were buying a gift card for me -- he said that signaled that something had gone wrong with their service in his mind. I shared my story (as detailed above) with him and he admitted that an apology was weak at this point but he wanted me to know he had seen the gift card and promised it will be hand carried to me tomorrow morning. While we talked, I told him that I am still not satisfied with the paint job and he offered (if I will allow one of their workers back in my house) to have his production scheduler call me to schedule a painter to paint the bathroom to my satisfaction. That has been done. It will not remove my overall opinion of my experience with Statewide Remodeling -- in fact, this is only what they should do. Their scheduler called and immediately offered to have a painter come out next week (Thanksgiving week). I refused that offer but accepted the first week of December. She then offered the typical 2-hour window (8-10 AM) for the painter to arrive on the date we had agreed upon. I told her, and quot;If your company is sincere in wanting to satisfy me in any way, you will make an appointment to show at my house at a certain time, not ask me to wait through a window of time. When I make appointments, I leave early enough to arrive on time, not asking the other person to wait while I deal with traffic.and quot; She, then, did make an appointment for a specific time for the painter to arrive at my house, not a window. Statewide Remodeling advertises they are an 8 year winner of a and quot;Consumer Choice Award for Business Excellenceand quot; award but they have not shown that to me in my experience. They now appear to be scrambling to respond after I told them I would be writing this review. Why did they not respond previously? I have a pretty new shower that I like and hope is quality built without future problems. Why did I have to put up with all the problems with Statewide and their employees to get it? I am hoping to get a better paint job on my bathroom on Dec 4th but why did I have to raise the issue with their quality control manager before getting that scheduled? I am not impressed with how Statewide Remodeling does business and treats customers. This company was paid for this job on September 24th and now 2 months later the job really is not completed.
Description of Work: Tore out our old shower in our master bathroom, opened the doorway to the entire width of the shower, built a new one using porcelain tile; stripped the bathroom of wallpaper, removed the popcorn ceiling and painted the walls and ceiling and replaced the existing light fixtures with new recessed LED floods.

The salesman came out and in hind sight I can see all the high pressured sales tactics he used. But I guess that is their job and I can't blame him for my stupidity. When the project started I was introduced to the contractor. He was a friendly enough guy but was late most of the time and usually didn't bother to call me to let me know. and he was a no show no call 3 times. When we were about two days from finishing I was asked if it would be ok if I go ahead and sign off on the contract and pay but that an amended contract would be written. The purpose was so the contractor could go ahead get paid. despite the tardy issues we did like the guy and wanted him to get his money so we fell for it. This is where my project began losing priority. Two days turned into nearly 4 more months. The biggest delay was a damaged bathroom counter top was installed - . They sent two companies out to fix it but was not successful. So they ordered a new one and it was finally installed Sept 26th. I was having 2 pocket doors installed and I couldn't tell you just how cheap they looked - horrible - but they changed them out for 6 panel doors. The contractor used different hardware to hang one of the doors and I have had nothing but trouble with it. He said the original hardware broke but I found it and it ain't broke. A warranty does come with the contract so the next time it falls off I will have them fix it. I am not a hard person to please but aggravations mounted and for the money we paid - the quality of materials just don't add up!! Don't get me wrong - I love my new bathroom but I feel like I had to fight for it. It just seemed to take the fun out of the whole thing. The charge to do this job didn't include shower doors. But I was assured by the salesman they were only $525 - try $875 !!!!! And I didn't order anything special and I really shopped around to get the best deal. I am sorry to say I will not use them for any of my other projects and I have several. Just don't pay till ALL the work is done!!! They will offer to write an and quot;amended work orderand quot; so you will still be under contract - BUT they will have their money and begin losing interest. I stand behind everything I have said in this review but I have to tell you that I did contact Mr. Frank Manzare to address my grievances. After emailing back and forth for just a few days Mr Manzare offered to send his Quality Control Manager, Dave to my home to hear and see first hand just what my issues are. Dave and my field manager arrived and we reached an agreement. It is Statewide's policy to fix the problem - not pay for it so be ready for that. I hope that anytime you hire hire a company and are not satisfied - you take your grievances to the company before posting reviews. I found Mr Manzare and Dave reasonable to work with. they both were equally concerned about my grievances and were eager to resolve them. I stated I would not hire Statewide again but they will reason with you if you are patient.

I did have several email conversations with this customer. I agree we made some mistakes and yes we do want to fix any problems we have and not just discount the price and walk away. Our primary reason for that approach to doing business which is different than most contractors is that we own our work and stand behind what we do. We have been in business for almost 20 years and install more bathroom remodeling than anyone else in Texas. I always want to be fair with our customers. We are not a high pressure sales organization. We do ask for the order on our first visit and after we have answered all the customers questions and quoted a price down to the penny we feel we have earned the right to ask for the order. I have explained on this review forum more than once why we do this and how it works. We do not hold a gun to anyone's head. It is a simple yes or no. The circumstances that created the problems on this job would have been the same if the customer made the buying decision on the first visit or the third. Bottom line for me is it appears we got the problems resolved and the customer stated they love their new bathroom from Statewide Remodeling. Although they may not call us for the next project we will be here in the future if they need us. That cannot be said for many other contractors. Thank you for your business. Things were delayed more than a bit, but financing and construction went fairly quickly when there was forward progress. The guys dug footings but left the clay they dug out in random piles around the yard on top of grass. Frustrating that they increased the landscaping costs fourfold simply because they did not ask where to put the dirt nor did they even attempt to clean up after dumping the dirt on the grass. The deck poured was good quality and the patio cover is a good all weather no-maintenance aluminum and vinyl top with shingles to match the rest of the house. The side of the top was built into the side of the garage roof so no water comes down between the two.
Description of Work: Statewide poured a new patio over the existing patio to make it bigger then put a all weather roof over the top.

We are currently remodeling due to water damage throughout the house. I called Statewide to get a quote to replace the windows in the house. Due to the extensive damage we thought we might as well replace the windows at the same time we remodel. The sales person was professional and on time. He was very detailed in measuring, explaining the process and we liked what we saw. Statewide seems to have good quality windows and workmanship. He told us we could replace a few at a time instead of replacing the whole house, which we thought was a good idea. He quoted us a price to replace 6 windows that were considered high priority. What we did not like or appreciate was having to sign the contract that day to get the best rates and discounts. He said that we had to put 20% down and sign today so we can be guaranteed the quote and have the lowest rates. We were not ready to sign the contract that day because we were waiting on bids for the remodeling due to the water damage. This is a huge project for us, we are already stressed and did not need the added stress of making a $7000 decision to replace only six windows based on a 45 min discussion. We have other appointments with different divisions with Statewide and are cancelling them because we don't want to be rushed into making a huge financial commitment on the spot.

First and foremost, both my wife and I agree that Statewide Remodeling did a quality job on our kitchen remodel and their installers and site foremen are really great guys who have our sincerest thanks on a job well done. Except for a couple of times when the foreman or workers were either fired or quit due to issues with Statewide, the workers were hard working, usually punctual on their arrival time, and worked with a great attitude and made sure my wife and I were updated on the remodel and any issues that came up. That being said, while I have no issues recommending Statewide Remodeling to my friends and family, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you go through Home Depot as the primary vendor, the reasons for which I will make clear below. My wife and I approached Home Depot about a kitchen remodel in November 2012 and were told we needed to contact Statewide Remodeling who was their provider for this work. It took several calls and attempts to get a representative to come to our house and there were at least two separate instances where the representative did not arrive and did not provide a courtesy call to reschedule. An appointment was finally made in February 2013, and the salesman came to our house and did a basic room measurement and gave an estimate of about $35K with a discount to $30K if we signed that day. We had other bids on the work that were significantly less, but since we had worked with Home Depot before and knew that they would be there if there were any issues we decided the higher price was worth the peace of mind of knowing the job would be done to our satisfaction. So we signed the contract, paid a 30% deposit, and agreed upon a June 2, 2013 start date (our choice). Between the time of the contract and start date, a representative was to come by and take formal measurements and finalize the material and color choices. However, we were completely and quot;blown offand quot; on the first two scheduled appointments and started to feel that now that Statewide had our money and contract, they no longer had to be and quot;customer friendlyand quot; so we called Home Depot customer service. Within a couple days, Statewide Remodeling suddenly became very customer friendly and assured us there would be no more missed appointments, and there were no more missed appointments. Points to Home Depot and their customer service department. June came and went and the remodel was begun on time and finished within the contract defined time frame. The installers and foremen were great and with the exception of the employee/Statewide relations issues and the one week delay/work stoppage it created, everything went well. The only issue that came up was the tile backsplash. The tile selected at the time of the contract was a matte grey/black 4x4 inch stone tile with some white crystal inclusions (looked like veins). When finished and sealed, it would have a wet look that made the tiles look matte black. However, after the tile sealant was applied, it looked like it was covered with a greyish haze similar in appearance to soap scum on a glass. Only about one tile in 20 appeared as we were shown at the sales meeting and we were told that the soap scum appearance was due to the and quot;natural variationand quot; in the stone and that was how it was supposed to look. My wife and I disagreed and, after some research, noted that the stone was supposed to be installed, sealed and then grouted. Statewide had installed, grouted and then sealed without properly cleaning the tiles and it was our belief that the soap scum appearance was due to the grout not being completely cleaned from tiles before applying the sealant. We asked for the tile to be redone with a different tile. At first Statewide agreed to provide the labor if we would pay for the tile (at dealer's cost). It was not the best deal, but we agreed. However, within two days we were told by the foreman that it was decided by management that we would have to pay for both labor and materials, but that they would do it at cost. This was not acceptable, so we called Home Depot customer service again and within ONE DAY, I received a call from Statewide indicating the backsplash would be redone at their cost. It took a couple of weeks to find a suitable replacement tile and we did pay for some decorative metal tiles and accents, but the work was finally done (including new hardy board drywall to replace the old drywall backing) and my wife and I got the kitchen we wanted. It is a great kitchen and the installers paid attention to the details to insure a quality finish (i.e., while the footprint of the kitchen was unchanged, there were slight differences in floor coverage and the installers spent time cutting some floor tiles we saved from the original floor install to fill in the open areas). Conclusions: 1. Statewide Remodeling can do quality work ; 2. The installers and job foremen are great and easy to work with and make the installation process as pain-free as possible (please note that while we did not like the appearance of the originally installed tile, the tile workers did a very competent job installing them evenly and precisely) 3. The sales force needs to be trained to be more customer responsive both prior to and after the sale - Remember, homeowners put out a large amount of money for your work and we deserve a little more customer service than what we saw. 4. GO THROUGH HOME DEPOT.

(removed member name) First I would like to thank you for your business and for taking the time to complete the Angies list survey To address your concerns. The down payment you made does not go to my company. Statewide Remodeling receives no payments of any kind on Home Depot jobs until the job is 100% complete and the customer signs off on it. So we are very motivated to get the job done in a timely manner. We also receive what Home Depot calls VOC scores on all jobs. Voice of the customer. We have to maintain 9.5 or higher average on a 1-10 scale. Home Depot contacts the customer directly on these surveys. We see the results on a monthly bases. I apologize that you had to call Home Depot service dept. to get action on delays and issues with the tile problem. I will follow up on that because it should not be necessary. Statewide Remodeling has a full time service dept. We also instruct our field service managers as well as project managers to keep the customer up to date on what is going on. If you where told by a field service manager that certain products where to be installed at a certain price the installer has no authority to change that. I will look into that tomorrow as well Again thank you for doing business with Home Depot and my company. If you have any further concerns with your new kitchen please call me directly at 214-466-1930 Frank Manzare VP/Partner

After 2 confirmation calls to to confirm our appointment, they cancelled at the very last minute. Obviously, we elected not to reschedule with this company.
Description of Work: During a recent visit at our local Home Depot, we were approached to have a representative from Statewide Remodeling come to our home to provide an estimate on a bathroom remodel project we are considering. The appointment was set in a timely manner and we received 2 additional phone calls from Statewide to confirm our appointment. On the day of the appointment, a Statewide representative called early morning to confirm our 2pm appointment set for that day. At 2pm, a scheduler from the company called and told us their Rep would be tied up at his previous appointment the entire rest of the day and had to cancel our scheduled appointment. What a waste of time and inconvenience to leave work to meet at a contractor at your home at 2pm on a Monday for a bid that cancels at the very last minute. Don't use this company. If our appointment (or lack there of) is indicative of how they do business, I am glad we never even received their bid as we would not entertain using a company who does not value their clients time.

Three months later and I'm still seething!! The gentleman sent by Statewide to look at my project (French door replacement for existing door-sized window) came into my home and criticized existing windows and a room addition...and quot;it would've been better if we had done it.and quot; I do not deny the truth in his comments, but found it insulting and inappropriate. Scrutiny with critique was not his invited purpose. He looked at the existing window, took measurements, and proceeded to tell me that I really wanted a sliding glass door and not a French door (I didn't!). When I repeatedly told him that I wanted FRENCH DOORS, he insisted on quoting me a price with a sliding glass door and then hit me with the pressure sell...and quot;if I committed (that day), he would give me a 'deal' and take a percentage off. BUT, if I decided later that I wanted the project done by his company, it would cost me extra. His boss wasn't paying for salespeople to come to the home multiple times.and quot; Rudeness, refusal to quote the desired project, high pressure sales techniques...this company will not EVER be invited into my home again.
Description of Work: The provider "bid" the project, if you want to call it that!

We contacted Home Depot for an estimate for new tub, shower, and bathroom vanity top (plus removing the bathroom wallpaper and painting the walls and celing). Having used good contractors with Home Depot before for new flooring and kitchen tile and backsplash, we thought to try them again. Home Depot sent the request to Statewide Remodeling. They ran late to the first appointment scheduled with us and called to move our time back 2 hours or another day. We opted for another day. Kevin with Statewide came to the house for the second appointment on time and was professional. He spent 2 hours (much longer than needed) to ask our requests, measure the bathroom, give the high pressure company commercial (again, way too long), pick out sample tile and fixtures and then give us our quote. Our concern of the company was the quote itself and the manner in which the quote was presented to us. The line items of the quote were secret. Kevin did not disclose to us the notes or prices. The only item we received was a paper with the total quote on it of $33,397.00 and a side quote notation for the removal of the wallpaper and painting of $4,500.00 that was included in the total HOME DEPOT PRICE. If we agreed to commit the $33,397.00 at that very moment he would give a and quot;initial visitand quot; discount lowering the price to $30,057.00. My husband and I felt we were at a used car lot. What is very disappointing to us, is that Kevin told us that Statewide is the one and only contractor Home Depot uses now. At this point, Statewide Remodeling is $16,600.00 more than two quotes we have received (from other highly recommended Angie's List contractors in which much more work is being considered).

(removed member name) My apologies for the rescheduling. It does happen and we try to notify the customer as far in advance as possible. As to hidden pricing. It should not be presented that way. We only do turn key work. Some customers do ask for a separate price for material and labor and we do not quote prices that way. If you wanted pricing on different parts of the project we can do that. It sounds like the biggest issue here is that our price was twice what others quoted? we have certain guidelines we follow for product selection and most other contractors I have come across do not do this. I am not saying the contractors you have met with do not but most don't. Wedi board tile backer is just one of the differences. We have been in business for almost 20 years and install hundred's of bathrooms across the state with a very high satisfaction rate at completion. As to the used car tactics you feel Kevin used, resetting of your appointment is an example of what happens when we have to return to a previous customer to write the order. We do this often but when our designers have 2-3 appointments a day 6 days a week resetting of appointments can result in some homeowners canceling the appointment vs re setting. This can be very costly so we offer what we call an appointment saver discount the first time we are at your home. We know it is not for everybody. We also quote a price that is good for 30 days so the home owner can get other prices and continue to shop before making their final decision. Again I am sorry that we upset you.
