Reviewed AL looking for someone to repair the skylight that was damaged in a hail storm. Found Southwest Skylights and gave them a call. Talked with Chris and explained the situation. Chris listened to what I had to say and immediately suggested a skylight option of tempered glass with a material within the skylight that would diffuse the light. He came to the house and surveyed the damaged skylight, then provided an estimate. Once we decided to move forward, we called Chris and he came out on a Saturday afternoon, showed us samples of our current skylight and the new skylight. This was excellent as you could see the quality of the new one versus the one being replaced.Since it was over 105 degrees out, we suggested he come back the following week in the morning, but the next thing I knew he was up on the roof and changed out the old skylight and had the new one installed. We highly recommend Chris to all Angie List customers, (and non AL) to give Chris a call. He was professional, knowledgeable of his product, provided excellent customer service.Thanks Chris!

Looked them up on AL and gave a call. Talked to Chris and explained we needed the two skylights replaced. He asked the size and I gave him an estimate as I hadn't actually climbed up to measure them. He called the next day or two to tell us he had checked his inventory and found he didn't have what we needed on hand and would need a few days to get them in. I gave him what I thought were the correct measurements and waited. He called a short time later to say the parts were in and he could place them that afternoon. He came over and we determined I had given him the interior measurements and not the roof side measurements. No sweat, just added a couple of days to the process and we weren't in a bind with broken skylights, just ugly ones. Chris did do us a really big favor. He talked us into using white translucent skylights as opposed to the smoked/clear ones we had thought about. They are great!! They allow so much light into the kitchen and master bath that you basically need no additional lighting during daylight hours but the heat transfer from outside is zero!! They are great!! Did I say that? The price was more than I first expected but that was only because the darned things were actually bigger than I had guessed. Much bigger. This is why I hire some things out, I'm not a craftsman. Chris is definitely a pro. I may never need him again, but you can darn sure bet he'll get my referral if I'm ever asked.

I was very pleased with Chris. He immediately responded to my Angie's List email. He was friendly and didn't try to upsell me but was also very knowledgeable and prepared when I asked about and subsequently chose an upgrade. He didn't waste time but I didn't feel it was rushed, either, and he cleaned up what little mess was made. His price was very reasonable and exactly matched the written estimate. In addition, his written warranty was on his invoice and he provided the separate certificate that was needed for manufacturer's warranty - nothing "forgotten". Two things really sold me on Chris, though ... when he came for the estimate, he taped the holes and cracks in my skylight without me even thinking about whether it was possible. He did not yet know whether or not he had the job, he just did this as a courtesy, which I greatly appreciated. Also, his integrity shined when I initially wasn't sure if I could be home when he had a last-minute availability and, when I voiced concern about getting him paid, he said that I could just mail a check to him. You just don't find that anymore! I instead made it home in time and am very glad I did. I did have to follow-up with an email and phone call to get the actual estimate a week after he had been to inspect my skylight but this is certainly not uncommon and doesn't really affect my high satisfaction level with Chris / Southwest Skylights.

Overall, good value for the money. Chris isn't the most email/web-knowledgeable person on the planet - but working with skylights, do you really need to be? I just had to re-set my communication style to be phone conversation based vs. email. Regarding the process, I called Chris and setup an appointment to have him come look at the work we wanted to have done. He was able to quickly assess (and jump on the roof to measure and double-verify) what we had/what we would need. He didn't try to upsell me on anything - I had done research ahead of time to know I wanted to upsell myself on a blackout shade. Had I not wanted the blackout shade, Chris was ready to install the week we first talked. He gave us a rough quote right then and there. He said he would follow up with an emailed quote - but that took some time to obtain (see paragraph 1). I did eventually receive the detailed quote. Once the quote was accepted, I followed up the week the project was set to take place. In the mix of travel and other projects, Chris forgot to order the blackout shade so we had to push installation a week. That wasn't a big deal as I had been expecting to wait a few weeks anyway. I called back the following week to see if the blackout shade had arrived. Lo and behold not only had it arrived, Chris was able to install the day I called - which was awesome. Chris and his employee did a great job installing the skylights. He asked if I could tarp the areas underneath the skylights as it could get messy underneath (not too bad at all). Next thing I knew, I had three new skylights. Everything went smoothly and I got everything I wanted. It's amazing now having replaced the bubble skylights. I didn't realize how much noise and air was coming in through the old skylights. I can't wait to see the difference on the next electric bill.

I called him one day and he was out the next, quickly determined the problem and had it fixed in less than an hour. His charges were extremely fair and he could have easily taken advantage of my lack of expertise and ability to know what was actually wrong and charged more, or even said the skylights needed to be replaced. Very professional, personable. Great Angie's List member!

They were real nice. The guy came out and installed it with 2 of them. We had one blip and it wasn't his fault. We had to order a special skylight because you've got to go to another place to buy them. This one was almost 30 years old and you can't just order like that anymore they are not plastic. They were supposed to install it in the middle of the ice storm we had and the delivery truck slid and it broke the skylight; so they had to reorder it. He said that the person who was delivering it was a woman who was driving the delivery truck and she was texting and got into an accident in the middle of the ice storm. It took a while and that was the only problem with that, but like I said that wasn?t his fault. I would recommend them and if I ever need to do anything else with skylights, I'd have them do some more.

Great advice as to style and type of skylight to use.

Chris Stathopulo was very professional. He arrived on time, answered all my questions, and installed the sun tunnel in just a few hours. He left the house as clean as it was when he arrived. The sun tunnel brings a lot of light into a room that was previously very dark. I am very satisfied with the work that was done.

The entire experience from my call to completion was only a matter of a few hours. It just so happened that Chris was able to get the screens quickly, then was available to install them that evening. I would definitely call him again if I ever need anything regarding skylights. His price was very reasonable.

I had a small skylight which was allowing tree debris to enter. I had two other handymen look at it, and they could not find the problem. I called Chris, and he told me over the phone what he thought was happening. He came promptly and on time, and fixed the problem at the price he quoted. I would certainly use him again. He is extremely knowledgeable.

Chris was able to come out to my house and email me an estimate the next day. The estimate was detailed and had multiple options as I requested. We had to postpone installation a couple times due to a period of rain but Chris showed up on time for the installation and was done in a little over an hour. He was extremely professional and did a great job. I would recommend Southwest Skylights.

Great experience. I called to get a quote and was asked a few questions about them. Chris explained the price and installation process and gave me a discount since I was changing 5 of them at the same time. He came to the house, measured them and gave sent me a final quote by email. On the scheduled installation date, he was able to start working even with me not being at home. Being so busy at work I can really appreciate that. Very professional and highly recommended.

From looking where it is he did an excellent job. He showed up when he was suppose to.

Chris (owner) spent a lot of time on the phone explaining options and quoting prices. My house is located outside of his normal driving range, but he agreed to come out for an extra fee (reasonable, about an hour north of Dallas). I measured the inside opening so he could tell what size skylight to bring and only make one trip. Everything worked out well. He came and removed the old and installed the new one in a timely manner. Good workmanship. Very pleased. His price seemed O.K. so I did not get other estimates.

I had a broken skylight in the bathroom. Chris responded immediately, on a weekend, to look at my skylight, give me options and pricing for each, as well as recommendations. He recommended a mid-priced solution that should prevent the problem I had with the old skylight from recurring and also would provide me with more insulation from the Texas heat. He came to do the work on the day he agreed to, even though he had been delayed at an earlier job, he still showed up and completed the job, although it was long after normal working hours. I was most favorably impressed and grateful. Additionally, while on the roof, he took some cell phone pictures to alert me to some squirrel-related problems I needed to have corrected, even though it was of no possible benefit to him.

I called him one afternoon and he was here the same day to talk about what I needed and the best solution. He brought pictures of before and after and a sample of what the light would look like inside. His price was the lowest of anyone I talked with including Solar Tube and included all those pesky options other companies kept adding on and increasing the cost with such as a hail resistant cover outside. My final price included all those things and was $100 less than anyone else. Chris came on time, covered everything below the hole he made in the ceiling for the light, worked quickly and did an excellent job. He was low pressure and very helpful in deciding where to put the light and what my options were. He cleaned up and left no signs of his being here other than the great new Sun Tunnel in my previously dark room. I couldn't be happier with the service, the product and with Chris, himself. He is a one-man operation and does it all. I couldn't recommend him or his product more.

My experience with this company was just wonderful. I think the process was flawless. He quoted me a price that I found reasonable. He came within a week and did a great job. He had to do some extra work and did charge me for it.

Arrived on time and completed work efficiently. Cleaned up as he went and was very pleasant to work with. Very happy with result.
