Overall, he did exactly what he said he would do and provided us with an explanation of how a leather sofa should be cared for. He also had some product that he'd used and we bought a container. He also showed us how to and how often to clean the sofa. He did a great job.
Description of Work: Came on first visit and looked at our sofa which needed cleaning and he told us what he would and gave a firm price. He came on time, was detailed and reviewed the estimate. When he came to clean and work on the sofa, he was on time and did the work necessary. He did have to answer his cell phone several times, obvious that he is the owner and operator of the business.

Larry showed up very promptly and proceeded to work on the furniture he had previously given me a quote for. The chairs and ottoman look like new and I hope to get many more years of life out of them. I would definitely recommend Precision leather. Larry was very knowledgable and shared with me how to take care of the leather in the future.

I have a leather sectional that is about 10 years old. The seat cushions and armrests had become faded and my dog had damaged the seat of the corner cushion. Larry came out promptly to provide an estimate. We scheduled the service for about 3 weeks from that day. He explained that the repair on the damaged area would be imperfect because the dog had scratched the leather all the way through the top coats down to the bare hide and the tear was really tattered. I give Larry an A+ for service. However, I am not terribly happy with the end result of the restoration. The color looks good, but the restoration product didn't end up working very well on my sectional. 1) The product appears to be latex based and it only adheres to leather. My seat backs and seat tops are leather, but the treatment peeled off of the vinyl sides and fronts of my seat cushions. I don't fault Larry at all for that. Just wanted to not it in case anyone reading this is considering restoring furniture with any non-leather parts. 2) The restoration appears to be wearing off on the front edges of the leather on the seat cushions. It's not fading, it looks like it is getting scraped off completely where the backs of our knees contact the cushion. 3) The restoration treatment did not adhere to the area that was repaired. I knew up front that the repair might not work. Larry and I discussed this. I was just surprised that the color he sprayed on that area peeled off so quickly. I guess it is because the repair was so large that there was no leather for the treatment to bond to. Again, I think Larry is incredibly professional and honest. The restoration just didn't work very well on my sectional.
Description of Work: Restored color to faded cushions and armrests of leather sectional. Also repaired a tear in the leather on one cushion.

Larry of Precision Leather is a very easy going kind person. He came out for the initial visit/quote and quickly assesed the situation with each piece of furniture. He was not high pressure at all rather he let us take our time to decide. Upon giving him the job he made it easy by stopping by our home and picking up the small pieces he could (4 cushions and the ottoman) and starting the process off-site (his workshop/office) with those units. He then scheduled the actual on-visit to our home..he arrived on time, took the amount of time promised, was conscious of family schedules and completed the job. The units look brand new and reflect the kind of care we take in our home. We would recommend Precision Leather to anyone who needs to restore leather furniture items!
Description of Work: Took a very expensive couch, chair and ottoman set that had fantastic shape and TONS of life left in it BUT its leather had been parched of hydration/lubrication and had faded badly. He restored the hide/leather back to new and we will have many years ahead with 3 pieces of furniture!

Larry came to my house (on a holiday weekend none-the-less!) to clean and restore a leather bench. WIthin five hours, my soiled leather bench looked like a brand new piece of furniture. NO ONE knows leather like Larry. He educated me on how to care for the leather furniture I own, questions I need to ask when purchasing new leather furniture, products I need to order to keep my furniture moisturized and clean. It was educational and informative and I would recommend Precision Leather for ALL your leather needs!

Larry was great, he called and was always on time, he even called to ask if he could come earlier. Larry made our couch look better then brand new! He was clean with his equipment and very detailed. He educated us about leather and how it's manufactured and the care it needs. Very informative and helpful, I would definitely recommend him.

Response from Precision Leather Restoration
When we evaluated the leather upon our fisrt inspection we found the following conditions on the leather; severely dry and cracked arm rests, extensive pet damage - deep scratches, scuffs, and puncutres, and the sun damage from sitting in front of large windows had degraded the leather to the point it felt like cardboard in many area. We provided a written quote as we always do with every customer. This customer did not like the price we quoted. Any reasonable person who listened to our evalution of the condition of their leather would not expect to be presented with a low price by a leather restoration company faced with correcting all the damage they allowed to happen to their leather furniture. We are sensative to what customers say so I made them aware of our 10 % coupon on Angie" List so they could take advantage of some savings. We left without an appointment and I never expected to hear from them again. They called me set up an appointment about ten days later and I explained I would have to come back to review the furniture to make sure the three dogs that were there did not do even more damage than I had seen on my first visit. After that we set up an appointment to complete the work. The transformation of heavily damaged leather by pets, sun, and general abuse was truly amazing. Leather restoration is an art and only a few companies can produce the resutls we can to extend the life of the furniture and save the customer a substantial amount of money from having to replace the furniture. When cutomers decide in their own mind what they think they should pay for our services I can only listen and politely explain our proecss to them. I cannot overcome their resentment on what they think they should pay for our services. The most disappointing aspect of this project is this customer expressed they were qutie happy with our work when we finished. I will let all our reviews speak for themselves.

We scheduled the appointment and Larry came as promised. He made sure the area around the furniture was completely protected,. and began his process on our leather recliner, and leather couch. We had no idea how painstaking a procedure this actually was, but as the work progressed we saw our furniture restored. We were ready to purchase new furniture, and we are so happy we had Larry do the work, and make our furniture look new again. His price was more than fair, and Larry's work ethic is truly professional. We would highly recommend this company.

The owner, Larry, was helpful and professional from the first phone call. Larry went the extra mile to go out to Plano and took a good look at the sofa and reported back in a timely manner. His estimate was free and he waited patiently to be let in (as there was a miscommunication on when the homeowner would be able to be present). He told us we would need to go a few shades darker on the sofa to completely cover any residual staining and offered to send us swatches to show us the color the sofa would be transformed to. He was always prompt for his appointments, and did a fantastic job on the cleaning and restoration. We were very pleased overall with his services and professionalism. Thanks Larry!
Description of Work: To Clean, restore and stain an older leather sofa to new condition We are a design team located in Austin TX and we subscribed to Angie's list to get a listing of vendors who could help us in the Plano area. We chose Precision Leather based on other good reviews and for what we needed accomplished. The job was to clean a older, sentimental, light tan colored leather sofa which had numerous stains and then restore the leather to new condition.

I was very pleased with the result. The owner came to our house and gave us an estimate and then set the date. He showed up exactly when he promised and spent most of the day doing the four pieces. He is very professional and I had no hesitation having him in my house. The end result was fantastic. The furniture looks like new. It does feel a little different, not as soft as before, but the improved look is worth it. There were a few small scratches at the base of one couch that he missed, but it was hard to see everything in the afternoon light. We didn't see them either until later. He left some touch-up paint with us that we can use if we want. I will certainly recommend him to my friends.
Description of Work: We had four leather pieces of furniture restored, one black couch, one blue love seat, ottoman, and recliner. All the furniture had scratches from our dog and just other dings from general wear. The blue pieces were very worn, and I was thinking about replacing them. The color had completely worn off sections. All the pieces were cleaned, conditioned, and then redyed.

We had originally called another company and paid to have them come out and give us an estimate to stain our leather couch. They were scheduled to come out and they didn't show. Then they wouldn't return our phone call. Thankfully they didn't follow through, because I came on here and searched and found Color Glo. I took a picture and sent it to Larry. He came out and looked at the couch and gave us an estimate at no charge. We scheduled him to come out.. right before Thanksgiving and then had the cushions returned to us right after Thanksgiving. It was such an easy process with him and he is a very nice guy. Our couch is at least 10 years old and it looks like new. He did a FANTASTIC job and we couldn't be more pleased. We hope he is around in another 10+ years because we will never use anyone else!
Description of Work: We have a sectional leather couch that we designed over 10 years ago. Larry came out and took the cushions and stained them. He then came to our house and finished the last pieces of the couch. Super easy process and top of the line job!

We found this guy from Google search and he came out to do an estimate to compare with a couple others. He felt he could restore the leather and not need to replace it as others recommentded. His approach and cost was about half the other approach so we went with Color Glo. He also mentioned that he gave a discount with Angie's List so you can thank him for our membership! We're glad we used Color Glo and would recommend him highly to anyone.
Description of Work: He's a real pro at this and did an excellent job. Be sure the estimate covers everything you want done. That said he actually covered a couple items we needed to include. Very straight forward and easy. We just let him do the job and stayed out of his way.

I called and asked that he come have a look at my two leather chairs and let me know if they could be cleaned. When he arrived, he said he probably couldn't get them completely cleaned so I opted to let him dye them back to the original medium brown color. I should have asked more questions but trusted that he knew what was best after reading the reviews. He said the chairs were definitely worth being dyed so I agreed to have it done. He said they were old and very dried out but would be fine with the color if I condition them with a conditioner he sells. I asked if the color would be in all the folds and creases and he assured me it would. When he finished, I saw that there was not color in those areas nor was there any color around the nailheads on the front of the chairs. He uses an airbrush to spray the color on which I did not realize until he started. I thought the color would be wiped on like color would be applied if you dyed a pair of shoes. He explained that he airbrushes to get to the small areas. Well, I would think the areas around the nailheads would be that target. He said he couldn't get to those areas because if he sprayed it there it would run down and make a big mess! The color on the welting on the front of the chairs has already started to flake off. I called and asked him to come and look at these areas along with the ones he missed. He came over and told me that normal wear would wear the color off in these areas. I have a leather sofa that is 10 years old that has some wear but no flaking so I understand wear over time but not in 2 - 3 months and not flaking. He left me some of the color product he uses as I told him I would rather put it no myself. I have put the conditioner on as he told me I should and there is some softening but he said it could take a year to get them back to a soft feel. My friends say they now have a plastic look to them. I don't really trust that these will last long and feel like I just wasted $750.

Response from Precision Leather Restoration
In the course of conducting my businesses over a 35 year period servicing residential customers I have experienced meeting the nicest most sincere people you can imagine. I have also done business with customers who have expectations that are not based on the reality of solving the problem they present us with. This customer bought two used leather chairs that I evaluted for her and this is what I found; 100 % color loss, spewing damage, and sun damage that was so severe the leather felt like saddle leather, and she could not even tell me how old the chairs were. I supplied a written quote and I explained the color can be restored to the leather and they would make a very presentable appearance. The way they looked before I restored the color was donation status. She asked no questions about our process so I explained what we do step by step. I explained we hand rub the first two coats and then airbrush on the last coat. She was in the home all day and looked at the chairs during the process and never asked me one quesion or expressed any conerns. She even complimented me on the work and I discussed with her that I would match the finish to her other two tone leather in the room and she was very pleased with the results. When I was finished with this project she asked me about the areas around the nail heads and in the folds of the corners. I explained the microscopic space around the nail heads can only be touched up by hand and that the leather in the folds of the corners would stick together if dye were put between the surfaces.. The faded areas inside the folds could not be seen at all when you looked at them so a reasonalbe person would have understood the sticking issue. We never create a second problem trying to solve what was not a problem to begin with. Our leather restoration process can overcome some of the most difficult issues found on older leather with significant damage. We have no magic wands we wave over the leather. We supply the customer with a written quote and we tell them the type of result they can expect. If we feel the leather will not respond properly we advise the customer its time to think about replacment of the furniture. When this customer decided to purchase used furniture with all the leather problems these chairs had they have made their own decision to accept a highly degraded leather product. From that point on all we can do is provide a written quote, explain our process and describe the results we expect to achieve. All of this information was provided and this customer is fully aware of these facts. I was asked by the customer to return which I did and listened to all her concerns. The welting on the front of the seat cushion had a few very small places where the dye had rubbed off. I eplained this is a very common issue with leather that was severly worn down because it fibers in the leather are highly degraded and that is what the dye bonds to. The leather sofa she had in the room showed the exact same dye rub off problem on the welting and was at least ten years newer. This totally supported my explanation to her although she ignored it. As with all our customers I offerd to touch up the welting on the chair and she refused. She asked me if I would give her some our dye. I was nice enough to provide this to her and explain how I would apply the dye. That is how our meeting concluded.

He sounded professional and was initially very responsive to the initial inquiry. After sending pictures of the repair to be done, he quickly give me a quote. He asked, via email on 8.16, for possible dates, to which I offered two weeks worth and the option to choose another date. However, he has not returned phone messages or multiple emails to schedule the work. Based on his response, he seems confused. I was referred to him by company staff from whom I bought the couch (Natuzzi) and only called him. He failed to tell me he was overbooked, which didn't matter anyway. I would have waited, but after two phone calls and three emails, he still did not respond. I will definitely let the company know he is unreliable and apparently gets confused. UPDATED NOVEMBER 27, 2012: Sorry sir, you have me confused with someone else. I called only your company based on a referral from the couch maker. You gave me an estimate and I accepted. I had no reason to call another provider. I left you two emails and one voicemail regarding your availability. You failed to respond and have evidently minipulated your story to excuse your behavior.

This customer called at a time when we were booked up for three weeks. We explained we would try to fit them in a stop at her address between appoinments we already had scheduled in her area. We were not able to get ahead of schedule and advised the customer. We suggested they schedule an appointment for the next open time in their schedule. We did not receive anymore information or phone calls from this customr. Very often some customers will call several companies to request quotes and they do not always keep track of who they called, what was said, and if they did make an appintment. We experiecne this all the time as they will call and ask now what was the name of your company. We provide one free trip to their home for quotes so this is not a matter of anything other than a very confused customer. Our rating and comments by other Angies List customers speaks for our reputatiion, This is is a customer taking out their frustrations on our company. We are known for our quality work and as a result most people seek us out and are patient enough to meet with us as even if they have to wait three weeks.

Larry from Color Glo was on time and just an outstanding individual to do business with. He was good at giving advice and just an A+ kinda man to trust with your furniture. I would definitely recommend him. He is a nice older/mature man who understands the profession very well and he is not at all intimidating or trying to overcharge you just to make a profit. I just joined Angie's list for the sole purpose of finding someone who could fix my furniture that needed repairing and I needed someone who had good reviews and could be trusted not to mess things up. He met all the criteria that I was looking for as far as professional and affordable and finding him on Angie's list was worth every penny. The thing I liked most about the job done was that he did it all at my home and did not need to take my furniture elsewhere to complete the repair.

Larry was courteous, helpful, and wanted to be sure that I was pleased with his work. Upon his first attempt to match the color (it my dimly lit living room), I felt the repair color was a little too dark. He opened the windows and doors to let more light in and remixed the color. This time, he matched the color perfectly. After the repair, we talked about how to care for leather furniture. Though I did not purchase the conditioning product he had for sale (and he truly wasn't pushy about selling it), I did appreciate the information. I would definitely use ColorGlo again or recommend the business to a friend.
Description of Work: About three years ago, an 8 inch area on the arm of my sofa was pretty badly scraped by the brushes on the vacuum cleaner. The leather didn't tear, but it did leave a series of 1 inch "bald spots" in the color. Larry from Color Glo came out to repair the color and consistency in texture on the arm of the sofa. In the end, I was very satisfied with the repairs. He matched the unique rust-like color of the leather perfectly. Nearly two years later, I still can hardly tell where the accident happened.

It was a positive experience with the company. There was some white bleached out on both the couches and he got it to match them exactly.
Description of Work: I used Color Glo Intl of Texas 2-3 months ago to redo two of our leather couches. They also put the conditioner on the couch.
