Description of Work: I've had service with this company for three years, nine months. I called them to ask for the installer password for my system, which was given to me prior but I misplaced it. After asking and explaining my situation and being transferred twice, I explain one more time and ask for the password. Which the lady on the other end of the phone declined to provide. Not only was I declined but the lady talked down to me, which is 100% Unacceptable. She stated she could give me the password only if she were walking me through a technical issue with my system. She agreed that I completed my 3 year contract with the company and the system technically belongs to me but still refused the password. She asked if there were any other "technical" issues she could help with and ended the call. | |I decide it's time to cancel my service with this company so I call them again. This time I tell the lady assisting me I'd like to cancel service. She asks for a reason so I provide her with a list of things that have happened throughout the almost 4 years doing business with them. She focuses in on my previous conversation with the tech gal and tells me there are 3 sides to every story, hers, mine and the truth. She then transfers me and yet another person (sounded the same as the tech gal) is on the line. I explain, again, I'd like to cancel my service. At this point I'm told I have to provide them with a 30 day notice to cancel. Then tells me I have to write, on paper, my desire to cancel and ensure I include acct #, request, signature...and send it through the US mail. Once they receive the letter, someone will contact me and then the 30 day period will begin. | |I'm told this is the ONLY way to cancel service with them. They said they have to compare the signature I provide on the letter with the one in the contract to verify the signatures match. My contract expired 9 months prior to this phone call. It doesn't matter if the signatures match. I want the service cancelled and there is no need to wait 30 days. They have had a nine month notice, since my contract expired. | |Monitronics, It's no longer 1975. We have made great technological advances since then, how about we use them to conduct business efficiently. | |This company has the most absurd procedures, exhibit no common sense and provide rude, condescending customer service. I can say, with great certainty, I'm NOT fan of Monitronics business practices. Next stop...The Better Business Bureau.

Description of Work: I called on a Monday to get an appointment to add 2 sensors to newly added doors by Friday, when I was going out of town. I was a longtime customer at this point. I wanted to make sure my family was protected. They completely dropped the ball, despite numerous calls back from me and broken promises from them. And they blocked every attempt from me to switch providers when they failed to help me. Months later, they are still billing me. Never, ever, ever again. Stay as far away as you possibly can.

IN THE FINE PRINT IT SAID THE CONTRACT AUTOMATICALLY ROLLED OVER INTO A 1 YR CONTRACT AT END OF 3RD YEAR, AND THAT I WAS OBLIGATED TO PAY THEM FOR A FULL YEAR EVEN THOUGH I NO LONGER HAD THE SERVICE. THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT ''ROLLED OVER'' IN APRIL AND I SOLD THE HOUSE IN MAY. WHEN I TRIED TO CANCEL THE SERVICE IN MAY, IT TOOK 3 MONTHS OF NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS TO GET THEM TO CANCEL THE AGREEMENT. I SPOKE TO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE, AND WAS PROMISED RETURNED CALLS WHICH DID NOT OCCUR. FROM A TECHNICAL STANDPOINT THE SERVICE WAS GOOD, BUT I QUESTION THEIR BILLING AND CONTRACTING PRACTICES FROM AN ETHICAL POINT OF VIEW. (NOTE: $26.95 COST SHOWN IS A MONTHLY SERVICE FEE)

I HAD BEEN DOING RESEARCH ON ALARMS. I AM SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED WITH THE PRODUCT AND ESPECIALLY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE DAY AFTER THE INSTALLATION THEY SENT SOMEONE OUT TO MAKE SURE I UNDERSTOOD HOW IT OPERATES. EVEN MORE, TWO MONTHS LATER HE DROPPED BY AGAIN BECAUSE HE CARED ABOUT MY SATISFACTION. MY MONTHLY MONITOR RATE IS $35 PER MONTH. THE DIFFERENCE WITH THEIR SERVICE IS THAT IT IS AN OPEN INTERCOM WITH THE MONITORING CENTER WHEN ACTIVATED. AS A RESULT POLICE THAT ARE CALLED BY MONITRONICS GIVE A HIGHER PRIORITY. THE PRODUCT AND INSTALLATION WERE FREE AS A PROMOTION. BUT NO MATTER THE COST, I'M SO IMPRESSED WITH IT, I WOULD HAVE PAID FOR IT.
