I've been using them for years. They're good, and always let me know when there's a problem. They're very good about their response. If they get a faulty signal or a battery is down they call right away. They have a tech support number available.

I was referred by a neighbor and they also solicited door-to-door. I have been using them a little over a year and they usually call me if there is an issue. I have had several problems with the system getting cobwebs on it and getting dirty which causes it to go off, but other than that I have had no problems. They responded promptly to one issue that needed fixed during installation and the pricing is not bad. I will use them again in the future.

We have been using their services for a couple of years. It is a cellular based service and is not tied to a land line which it makes it very convenient. They are extremely responsive. I have set the alarm off accidently a few times and they’ve contacted me right away. I am very happy with their services.

We've been using them for less than a month. They only monitor the system and they have a third party that installed the system. The third party they sent us to was not very good and we haven't it long enough to know about the service. We are in a contract so we have no option but to use them.

They installed a home alarm system for us. We have used them for seven years now. We have eleven or twelve alarms in the house. We have a contract with them. They installed it free if we would put their sign in our yard to advertise. I liked that it was a free installation. If an alarm goes off, they call very quickly.

I am very comfortable with this system and it is simpler than the other system I previously had. They follow up to make sure everything is working ok, to make sure I understand the system, and to remind me of the need to test the system once a month. They are very friendly and very concerned. I like the service; however, I do not like the idea of having a contract. Even if I did not have a contract I would still use them!

They are fine, they do a good job, and they are hawk eyed. They are definitely the best. Monitronics is based elsewhere, but they are the provider, and have local people come and sell the services. They are very responsive, when we have problems and call them. They will have somebody come out to my place. They are reasonably priced. Its like ADT is a big company and they have little people in the area. They are reasonably priced. I get a discount from Monitronics when I also have a home insurance. I took it for the fire protection and the burglary. My husband broke in when the power was out because of the wind storm. I got a call from them immediately. I am happy with their services.

Although my alarm system is monitored by Monitronics, it was originallly installed by Pinnacle. Pinnacle sold to Monitronics. I had problems with the system from Pinnacle but continued to experience these and more with Monitronics, hence my posting this as a Monitronics report.I've had the system almost two years now and am highly displeased. Among the issues I've experienced: One of the sensors on one of the garage doors often would not get good contact. When I would arm the alarm, the arming did not actually take place even though the LCD panel said the alarm was armed. The second alarm panel installed in my detached garage was almost always able to arm the alarm. However, it was also almost always NOT able to disarm it. Thus, there were frequent frantic phone calls to Monitronics to get them to cancel the alarm. Sometimes the system will not disarm, either at the control panel or through the keyfob Sometimes the system will not arm, either at the control panel or through the keyfobIf you accidentally hit the panic function, you cannot stop it via the control panel or keyfob. From a safety standpoint, I can understand this. Waiting 5 minutes to speak with someone at the alarm monitoring center because there aren't enough people either at work or on staff, resulting in police swarming the front yard, is unacceptable. Getting told "I don't know why it did that" by the alarm monitoring people and then being told no one there would be able to help is unacceptable. About the only good thing I can say about Monitronics is that when they deem a dispatch of a technician to my home is necessary, they were always able to schedule it within a day or so. With over 10 visits due to the issues listed above (many of them recurring multiple times), it is impossible for me to give Monitronics lots of "good points".

They said that they product was made by GE so I figured it had to be good. The guy that came out was very nice, he hooked everything up, and he taught me how to use it. I don’t use it all the time and I forgot what the code was but they said they couldn’t do anything for me over the phone. They sent me a medical alert button but it was much too heavy to hang around my neck. I called because I wanted out of the five year contract since I’m on a fixed income but they said I would have to pay over $1,000 to get out. They said they could send me a wristwatch for $75 and I started to get annoyed because there was no one there who could help me try to get out of my contract. They money automatically comes out of my account but now I can’t remember how to use it anymore. I’m not stupid, but I can’t figure this thing out and the written instructions don’t help. The price would be okay if it was the only one I had.

The salesman and the installer were very nice. What I don't like is that there is no contact. I called and asked them what kind of service they provide so that I could compare with another company and they didn't call me back. I think you should understand the contract before you sign up. Some of the other company's service calls are free but with them it is not. I am thinking of upgrading and I would call them and some other companies.

The installer was supposed to arrive between 1 and 3pm. He arrived after 4pm and finished around 7pm. Around 530pm I suspected he was installing the wrong system. He assured me it was the correct system, and in any event, he said since it was after 5pm so there was no way to check with the office. The handwritten paperwork from the initial sales person was illegible and confusing, so it's not surprising the order got bungled up. This company needs to send out salesman with a laptop and a printer. The next day the supervisor called to confirm that they installed the wrong system, but "it would be very quick to change over". This was a hassle as I had spent over an hour learning and practicing how to use the alarm that was now going to be replaced with a different system. The installer came back, and again was late close to one hour after the appointment. It was not a fast install, it was another 3 hours of disruption: ear piercing alarms being tested, etc. He had refused my offer to work on it while I was gone running errands. After installing, he explained it was a new system and couldn't go over anything except the most basic functions of the system as he hadn't learned them yet. Another big red flag for the company. The installer placed the doorbell/camera off to the side in a place that nobody would ever see or use, defeating the purpose of this top of the line system. The old, main doorbell was left visible, and that was what everyone would continue to use instead of the camera/doorbell. When I pointed this out, he agreed, but said he didn't have a masonry drill so he installed it on a wood beam off to the side. That was pretty lame, for a high end system. The company has agreed to come out and place the new doorbell/camera in a proper location. We'll see. The company has several names, so it's confusing. The paperwork says Spot Security Inc, DBA: VIP750.com When they call, they say they are from Monitronics. I've never seen a company with such a long and confusing name! Makes me a bit concerned. The Honeywell system seems quite good, so hopefully this will work out in the end.

We are happy with them and they seem to be doing a good job. Their headquarters is in Dallas but they've been very, very responsive at the local level here. They are very good about calling us if it appears that the door is open when it shouldn't be and that kind of thing. So far there's never actually been anyone breaking in. I would say that if you want to home alarm, Monotronics International would work. Their price is about the same as anybody else. It would be nice if they were cheaper.

*PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE STORY AS THE DAY AFTER I WROTE MY REPORT I HAD A MUCH DIFFERENT, POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH EMPLOYEES OF THIS COMPANY that I shared with an update!* Awful. First and foremost the salesperson lied. Looked me dead in the face and told me a bold faced lie as he was lacking in basic intelligence. This person Seth Lucas claimed he was going to update my alarm system at "NO COST TO ME". Of course it was because the mental midget assumed that O was paying ADT full price for my service. I was not as I was out of contract, paying about 1/3 the price he fantasized about. He also lied about the price as he claimed it was $39.99/month (TOTAL MONTHLY FEE). Turns out they now charge taxes. It took the gang of (4-7 installers) a few hours do do basically nothing as all wiring was already done. He conveniently omitted the "Lifetime Service Plan" cost of $30/trip when if memory served when I had ADT and previously had Ranger American neither of them charged me to come out and ensure my alarm operated as advertised. Plus to this day I have no idea how to test this stupid system! With ADT it was simple. Since then the monitoring has been "fair to LOUSY". I get calls early in the morning at least twice monthly waking me up to tell me the system is sending them a "low battery warning". Seems to me that the "SCREEN AT THE CONTROL PANEL SHOULD MENTION THAT FACT"? I asked them very nicely not to bother me with such nonsense especially not at 0730 when I suffer from severe, chronic pain and have great difficulty sleeping. "I will enter a note into the computer" the person said. They must be related to Seth Lucas as they LIED! Last week 1/19/11 I called fed up with being awakened again prior to 0800 and had to request of the representative 5 times to speak with a supervisor I did and she assured me the phone calls will stop. Per my request she transferred me to billing and I spoke to a "flaky puff" girl there who managed to get me my payoff as I fully intend to pay the rest of the monies owed out of my pocket to payoff the contract that runs through Sept. 2011 (39 months total). If someone from this outfit comes to your door slam it in their face! UPDATE- I have done some updating of the ratings initially given to this company. Today I had to call Customer Service as I misplaced the master code to my system. I called Monitronics at 800-447-9239. 1) Fortunately got to a person who was knowledgeable, pleasant and very helpful. DeeDee (I did not get her I.D.#) took a few minutes and assisted me in getting to tech support to solve the issue. Very nice lady. 2) Tech Support- I was transferred to Tech Support dreading the experience. I hit the LUCKY JACKPOT as the tech I spoke with James (ID 3255) not only quite ably assisted me in getting to my master code but checked a couple of things while I was on the phone. I had been getting contacted regarding "low battery" signal as mentioned above. I thought it had to do with the system battery. It did not. It was for the battery backup for the control panel. He then proceeded to tell me how to replace the battery myself, step by step. That will save me at least $30 on the service charge and who knows how much for the battery which should be available at a local battery store. If Monitronics had more employees like DeeDee and James they would rate much higher across the board.
Description of Work: Sold me an alarm system I did not need. Installed this overpriced (?)NOISEMAKER(?) using preexisting alarm contacts and even my back up system battery. This unit burns through batteries at the rate of one per 6-8 months. Basically the gang of installers hooked up their control panel to the existing ADT wiring. House already had hard wired smoke detectors/alarms.
