This house came with its own disk monitors, windows and doors. There is a peace of mind that if something goes wrong or somebody tries to break in, the alarm is going to sound and that they will be on the phone to me. We had a window sensor go off at night in October. It was 2 o' clock in the morning. I heard the alarm go off. They were making a phone call to me to see if everything was okay. It turned out that the window sensor had a bad battery. When it happened the second time which was last month, I did not get a call. But I knew what was wrong, so I replaced the battery. When I was replacing the battery, they called and said that they were getting evidence of tampering with one of the window sensors. I told them that they didn’t call the night before. The price is about average around here. When they say that they are going to come out and check something, they are always here on time. I am using them right now until somebody else comes along and says that they have something better.
Description of Work: I use Monitronics Security LP for alarms. In the sub-division I live in, every house has a built in alarm system. They just monitor it.

Sensors are much smaller than competitors which I like because they are less noticeable. Color touch pad controller is very smart looking and very user friendly. Monthly cost was higher than competitors which was largely due to little up front cost which I preferred being able to pay a larger monthly and little down and defer my costs. Very happy at this point

Since my first contact this company, I have been receiving phone calls almost everyday with someone trying to convince me that they have the best deal. I told two separate sales representatives not to call anymore but still receive frequent calls. If I were considering them initially, I have since changed my mind due to their aggressive sales calls.
Description of Work: I contacted this company for alarm rates. I spoke extensively to a representative but was not ready to make a commitment at that time.

we were with this co. for a few years and everything was ok until we actually had a alarm go off then the response time was 3 plus hours when I complained they said they weren't responsible for response time after the second time of them having no response and being charged . I have canceled this acct ... I suggest you use a alarm co. that has a good local response team Bobby

Great service for last 51/2 years. Service is though DSSI here in Crossville. One sentor stopped working and they sent out person to exchange the day I called. Only 1000 for full installation and full service for 4 yrs. and then 800 for renewal for addition 4 years, truly a great deal.

Can't proceed if they won't meet me face to face. Have several questions regarding placement of senors and control boxes. Need a Sale Rep HERE at our home. Best bet for everyone is to use a competitor of theirs like I will.
Description of Work: Called the 800 number. Simple request is to get a real live Sales Person to come to my house to walk through what is required for a new alarm system. Basic answer was that the local rep REFUSES to come out at all without me first agreeing to sign up for 12 months of monitoring service. Call ADT. Within 4 minutes a Sales Rep was scheduled to visit us this coming Saturday face to face. Monitronics is disgusting with very poor customer service. Business must be very good to refuse to sell your products and services face to face.

Not thrilled by this company and extremely disappointed in the process. I have this alarm system and was not happy with the service - too many hidden costs. They make it extremely difficult to cancel your account even after the contract has expired - they charge a month to month cost plus you have to have a hand written letter stating you want to cancel and another 10 steps to get it cancelled. Not thrilled with this company.

It has been a good service and it is doing what it needs to. I have set the alarm off before and the police have showed up each time- that is a good sign. I have a sun porch that has glass and we even have glass protection for our windows.

High pressure salesman (sales manager) who lied about the service and costs. The sales people I talked to before getting this person were not knowledgeable but tried hard. I would not wish this person on my worst enemy. He was rude and argumentative and would not allow me to talk. I finally had to hang up to get him to stop talking.
Description of Work: I was trying to get a home alarm system for my home but the sales manager did very little but try to sell me on something that other people who worked for him told me I did not need. I was trying to get their alarm system already installed in the home transferred to me. The first people I talked to about the system said it was possible and gave me the price and procedures for doing this. When I later called to set it up, I was rerouted to the sales manager who said "no way, his people were wrong ".

I have been with Monitronics for over 5 years. We switched to cellular service and started having problems with the alarm randomly going off at all hours. Called Monitronics to have them come and check the system and were charged for the visit to check the alarm. They checked the alarm and we still continued to have problems. We then called Monitronics back spoke to representative and she cleared the system and said everything was fine, 2 hours later alarm starts beeping for no reason. So we called back which was on a Sunday, when I reached a representative I told him I wanted the system turned off until I could have someone come out and check the system out. He told me someone would be in touch with me within 24-48 hours. As of 4 days later I still had not heard from anyone from Monitronics, so I called back explained what was going on and told them I wanted system turned off completely and to cancel my service. The lady I spoke with was extremely nice and tried to reason with me and said she could get a rep to our house by the end of day or next day. She asked what would be the best number to reach me and I said cell, I gave her my cell phone number so technician could call me with the time he would be there. I thought o.k. Im getting somewhere, WRONG the tech never called me and when I got home that night a message was on my answering machine. So I called monitronics back angry at this point and the rep I talked to said "I see on the system we have you set up for service on Tuesday of next week", Are you serious you didnt even speak to me to set up that time and I was told that a tech would be out today or tomorrow. So I again told the rep never mind shut this system down and cancel service. I am so disappointed!

I had been with these people for a few years and wanted to upgrade my system to a wireless with no phone line. The charge was $450 to buy a new panel with cell phone capablility. I told them I would do it. Two weeks later a tech shows up to install the system. The tech informed me that she had never installed one. After she had been at my house for 3 hours she announced that the new panel was no good and would have to order another one. It would take about 2 weeks. I called Monitronics and told them that this was unacceptable and I wanted to stop my service with them. They said I had to give them 60 days notice in writing with my account # and password. With my signature on the notice. They really know how to treat a long time customer and I would advise anyone to stay far away from their dispecatable business practices.

We placed a call a week ago to get a sensor repaired and we are still waiting. The first agent called and said it would take one week to send someone out and when we said that was too long they hung up on us. We call Monitronics back and they apologized and said another service company would be in touch with us and that they could do the repair faster. Well the second company hasn't called and Monitronics still hasn't made things right. On the phone with them again and they say that they only have the two service providers contracted in the area. Not good.

I would stay away from this company as it appears they still use some of the horrific tactics I experienced many years ago. First, I am making this review long after i had this service. I am looking into having home security again ,and when looking through Angie's list, I came across several monitronics reviews that mirrored my negative experiences. My system was installed and after a few months, it had 4 false alarms in the middle of the night. over 3 nights I called the customer service number every time. The 4th time, they told me to pull it out of the wall to disconnect it. I did. When the year was up, and I thought the contract was up, I called to cancel the service. And Found out: 1) it was a 3 year contract . I had not known that , I thought it was for 1 year, and truly feel that this was not made clear or even mentioned ,originally . 2) they said I should not have disconnected the monitor; ..the person I was speaking to insisted that I should have called them...but I had called the CS # listed on my paperwork,,!!!!,, apparently, there were 2 or 3 separate businesses involved in running this company, and none knew what the others were doing 3) this applies to the payments /financial matters of the company as well. I had paid a full year in advance, but the local company had no record of this. Not only did the local reps treat me disrespect, disbelief and use accusatory and abusive language, they actually called me 8 times in a row on one evening, up to as late as 10 PM. They were demanding immediate payment , and actually yelling at me, saying that I had not paid them The parent company did have record of my payment, (but it was not easy to reach them) !!! but they were just not able to communicate this with the local reps for some reason. I had 2 weeks of harassing, unprofessional phone calls based on totally incorrect information. One agent actually threatened to come to my home to collect what they thought i owed them I am not making this up. I resorted to saying I would call the police. I had to get copies of my bank records and send them a photocopy of the check they had cashed /deposited a year prior, a check which paid in advance for a full year of monitoring . At that point, they cancelled my service but i never received any apology or validation from any one in any of those interconnected companies. I did not receive a refund for the 7-8 months that the device was disconnected, at their suggestion. However, I didn't ask for a refund, I asked only for an apology............ Never got one.

MONITRONICS is GREAT!!! I've had a couple of faux pas with my alarm system where I forgot my access codes and code words!! In one instance, the POLICE showed up!!! I managed to call Customer Service, and they were very kind and calm with me. They called the Tech, and patched him in, and the Tech confirmed all my ilnfo, and I was not arrested, or asked to leave Monitronics (thanks, Customer Service! LOL!). I have had wonderful experience with this company, and have recommended them to my friends. I received a great deal from the Home Inspection company I used, and did not have to pay anything up front. They installed my system FOR FREE! All I have to pay is the monthly fee, that's what the 659.00 is.
Description of Work: Monitronics sent a Tech to my home to perform the installation. All I did was watch. He installed the entire system, tested the system, made sure it was working properly, and taught me to use it. I received a booklet with advanced instructions, and was invited to call Customer Service with any questions. I LOVE IT! I didn't have to figure anything out myself.
