They did the work as promised and did it well. However, the owner complained continuously about how he wasn't making any money on the deal, and he had two young men with him who were obviously trainees. Furthermore, they were only at the house for about 45 minutes, so I don't feel as though deal was of much value.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for them to provide masonry services. Specifically, I had them reset some bricks.

As I recall we did everything you pointed out and then some. I guess as I was complaining about not making enough money I found it in my heart to bust out some urethane and see all your windows under your patio which you didn't even mention. And again for the record and I am not ashamed to say The big deal doesn't make me any money... By the time I take $75 divided up between two trucks three wages and taxation and materials you tell me how can you possibly run a business like that. Obviously I'm trying to see if there are any additional repairs we could help you with and people with the 1950s Price structures in mind we probably will never be a good fit. Times have changed and I realize it's inconceivable for some people to understand how running a business costs money. And if you do it right you will be what is called gainfully employed and have a bit of profit and at the end of the day.

See above. If you recommend this guy I will never use another of your providers. Well I see the company comments reflect the character of the owner. I am a CPA who has owned several successful companies. I know what it takes to run and operate a business and ripping off customers is not one of them. Your consulting amounted to me telling you what my concerns were. You had no solutions. You didn't have the equipment to do the work i.e. a pressure washer. From your comments it was obvious you didn't want to do the job because you had bigger and better things to do.
Description of Work: Showed up with two helpers. Said he charges $100.00 an hour for his helpers. A $300.00 deal gets me 1.5 hours of work by two $12.00/hr workers. He tore off more of my bricks than they fixed. The helpers removed the chimney cover (10 minutes) and one of them repaired two bricks. This was 1.5 hours of work by two men. They said we have used up you time and bye. Never heard from them again. Wasted money. Ripoff operator.

Obviously have no idea what it takes to own and operate a successful business. For the record and for all eyes to see my rates are $112.50 per man hour on my storefront. There were three of us that showed up at your residence and I personally consulted with you for a half hour while you gleaned all of my ideas. Then we started the clock and I explained to you I was leaving the two people there with the other truck and material to install correct where your Mexican funky brick had fallen completely apart behind your paint. They completed the task I explained to them and their time and material fulfilled the coupon. I never billed for my time or consultation. FYI my consultation fee is $85 on my storefront. I will take my business and move forward with people who appreciate the work we do. Heads up to any contractors that might be reading this watch out for this guy.

I bought it on a Friday, he called on the following Monday and came to do the work on Tuesday. The color wasn't right at first, so he called his supervisor and they came back and brought the correct color. They did more than what we thought they would and if we ever need masonry work again we'd call them!
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for $149 for $300 worth of masonry work with them. There were some loose bricks on the hearth that he fixed and covered for me. He also fixed all the grout on the hearth.

You're thinking we might have charged you too much? To be sure we have a formula that we follow when we're pricing a job. You were charged exactly the same amount we charge all of our customers. The issue with the bubbling material was a factory defect and we were there the next day and rectified it. I tried to explain to you we are not the cheapest but we do have a very high level of quality. And as I promised you and your warranty is written when we do not have to revisit your leak in the future consider that in the price you paid.

Within 24 hours, I had all the repairs done after initially contacting Terry. When he and his team came to our home, Terry explained and showed me why the water was leaking into the 1st floor window. He then prepared an estimate which I accepted. All the work was completed that same day with a 5 year warranty. Terry was professional and showed up when he said he would be there. I would use Terry in the future if the need arises.
Description of Work: I called Terry on 1/22/2015 to discuss an issue where water had come through a window when it started to rain. He had me send him pictures of the outside to see if he could tell where water was coming from. When he said it could be from several possible factors, I purchased the Big Deal for $85.00. The next morning he called me and came out that same morning. He and his team started at the 3rd story of our house and worked their way down to the 1st story where the leaking window was located. They removed all the old material, color matched everything, and resealed the affected areas up to prevent this from happening again.

I had a crack in the brick of my chimney that ran from the top to the ground. I saw an angies list deal of the day for $149 for $300 of masonry work and called the provider. I talked to Terry and told him about my needs. Terry said that they normally charge a consultation fee and that I should sign up for the Angies list deal because it is waived as they do the work the same day. I ordered the angies list deal. Terry called me on a friday to set up the work. He said he wanted to know if I was available on Saturday (the next day) for the work to be done. I arranged for the work to be done at 9am. The next day, the doorbell rang at 8:05 am. My husband and I are late risers and had a baby to get up and get ready. I met with Terry outside and he said that three man hours meant that I got three workers for one hour. I showed him the crack and he said that he should be able to get it done in an hour. He said "It's 8:10 now, so we'll work until 9:10." During the work, I was in the kitchen and watching. Terry smoked and drank coffee the entire time the other two workers were working. Only one worker got up on the ladder to fix the chimney. They started packing up at 8:50 so I figured they were done with the job. I sent my husband out to talk with Terry about what they had done (a mistake on my part as I had been the one directing Terry on the job that needed to be done.) My husband asked Terry how much he would charge to rebuild one of our brick walls. Terry told my husband that he didn't do masonry work but that we could expect someone else to charge a few hundred dollars. I was upset when my husband told me this because the deal was for 3 man hours of masonry work. How can a company sell masonry work, when they tell you whne they get there that they don't do that. The next day, I went outside to see that they fixed the top 6' out of a 24' long crack'. I asked Terry to call me and told him that I was disappointed that they only fixed half the crack. He called me at 8 am this morning. He told me that I only paid for 3 man hours. I told him that they started packing up at 8:50 when I had them until 9:10. Terry told me that he only makes $75 dollars on an angies list big deal and that that is what I got for the money. He said I had three guys working on my chimney. I told him that I would have preferred one guy working for three hours. He said that he used three guys because he really had to hustle on the cheap jobs so he could get to the pricier jobs. He said it just wasn't worth his time. I told him that I wasn't happy and he was unapologetic. I told him that he could expect a negative review from me on this site and he rudely said that he would immediately "fire one back at me." I won't be using this guy again.

There is some truth in your explanation of the chain of events. However all I was supposedly standing around drinking coffee I somehow managed to pop up a ladder up on the front side and did an assessment of the roof side of your three-story fireplace as well as the chimney on the roof and photographed all of it for your husband to see. I tried to explain to you how our process and material differs from normal brick masons. So of course when I was asked how much to rebuild a wall I gave you basic brick masons prices. I never indicated I wasn't interested in doing other work for you, but of course that would be additional cost. I understand that your expiration far exceeds the price you paid for the coupon. However if you look at all of my ratings on angie's list We as a company are obviously providing a service that the majority of the people we have contact with feel as though they got very good deal. Seems that you're just one of those customers that had unrealistic expectations. And furthermore the work that was done was excessive as well as at the third story level we had to manufacture the brick that was messing with our material which was a bit excessive on that end however I do start the clock when we arrive and stop the clock after we have cleaned up setting up and cleaning up is a part of the job. FYI the consultation I gave your husband probably save you thousands because as I had anticipated he was contemplating decking the entire surface with Hardy board I gave him information he did not know and told him where he could find Materials that are far superior with a lower price point. I'm hoping all in all that may hold some value for you thank you for your patronage.

They showed up on time-but they wanted a lot more to complete the job. I misunderstood how much they were charging- it was like 3 people for 2 hours- I thought they would complete the job- guess I misunderstood- but all in all- far too expensive for what they did. Actually not real impressed- they could have completed the job- I think. I wouldn't recommend them but other folks might be impressed with their work. They showed up when it was dark- I had asked them to start later- they were here before 7 a.m.- pitch dark at that time of the morning- maybe they are used to working in the dark- but I'm thinking if it had been light- maybe the job would have been completed.Thought we needed the work done for our homeowners insurance- but it wasn't even necessary- guess that is what soured me on the deal. Like I said- others might be pleased- I thought they were far too expensive for what we got!

I'm sorry for all the confusion and misunderstandings that you had but certainly it wasn't on account of me. I explained it to you when you cold called me that it would be 3 man-hours for $300 and my storefront has a coupon for two hours for $225. That translates into $112.50 per hour. So you got a $37.50 discount from my regular rate. Also you complain about the time I got there it's not unusual for us to start at sunrise. Which was the case at your residence. We've never and will not work with a flashlight or floodlights. We're also disappointed that you have work done for your insurance company that wasn't required there in again you were confused. That was certainly not my fault. If it weren't for the fact you couldn't find our patchwork i'm confident based on your report that you would've voiced for workmanship as well. However our patchwork is most excellent as you are a testimony to it. Thank you for your patronage.

Leak Trackers found and fixed our problem which was a shoddy built chimney and chimney cap that had gaps on both sides. Terry and his crew rebuilt the part of the chimney that was separating from the framing, installed a new cap and replaced mortar in the decorative loop on top that was getting ready to collapse. Extensive repair and they were fast, efficient and did an excellent job of blending the work with the original bricking. Look no further, this is the experienced company to use.

I used the coupon because I was pretty sure that I couldn't get the bricks back in straight and I knew that I'd never be able to match the mortar color. These guys got the bricks back in and, holy cow, they matched the color of the old mortar! They said we'd paid for three man hours, so we got them to fix a hole in a brick where an abandoned pipe came out. Pulled the pipe out, filled the hole... then matched the color of the brick; it doesn't even look like there was a hole in the brick now.

Service provider was very helpful in discussing my issue. Did not use the service.
Terry and his crew were totally AMAZING! I'd had this company do some prior work for me and they were great then. I decided to call them back out after I noticed that the brick archway above my front door had some major cracks and looked like it was apt to just fall on some unsuspecting person! I also noticed that I had a hole in my mortar at a joint in my façade which was hidden by my satellite cable wire. It must've been God who told me to move that cable and inspect the intersection because there's no telling what could have been crawling in and out of that opening! Well, on the day of arrival, Terry arrived first and as usual, was very punctual. I am so glad of that. We spent a few minutes chatting while his crew showed up in the company truck with the supplies. After showing them what I wanted, they went right to work. They don't mess around dilly-dallying. Ladders came out, equipment was set up, and plans were made. I was again impressed. After the job was done, I went outside to inspect the work. Terry pointed out to me that in addition to the work that I had requested to be done, his crewmember - Cody - filled in other cracks that I hadn't even known were there. He said that he didn't feel comfortable leaving them as then I'd be calling them back out soon to fix it! Wow! Impressive! Terry talked to me about the gaps I have above my garage door. They were like an inch wide as a result of shifting clay soil. He provided me an estimate to fix them of $900. I agreed to the work and they came back several times later that day to finish the work as they had other jobs to get to after mine. So, by the end of the day, I had spent $225 for the Big Deal and $900 for extra work. I couldn't have been more pleased with my purchases in my life! My garage is finally sealed, my archway no longer scares me when I walk under it (and they said that there was even a bird's nest behind the brick in my archway!), and it gets even sweeter! The shifting soil has caused and opening on the side of my house between the siding and the brick. Terry came back - on his own time - and brought the materials to seal up the gaps as well as to add some wood to my front bay window for aesthetic purposes! I was absolutely floored! He even replaced some shingles I had missing from my roof after a strong wind storm blew through the area a few weeks ago! This man said that he just wanted to be a blessing to me, and he absolutely was! I thank God for this man and the work that he has done! I even tried to tip him for his troubles and he refused to accept it. Afterwards, we stood around talking about God in our lives and it was like talking to an old friend! I'm going to keep him on speed dial as he has a wealth of helpful information about houses as he's been working in the field for decades! Thank you Terry, Adam, and Cody! You guys are truly blessings to your field!

I bought an Angie's List deal and they repaired some missing and loose bricksin 2 spots. They said they were "artisans". They gave me an estimate of around $2000 to do maybe 6 minor (1/2 inch by 8ft) cracks and some flashing on the roof. I had a contractor who was doing some other work do both repairs for $200. Be careful.

I try to convey the fact that the material and process we employ is not typical material. It does not need to be re-visited in the future and doesn't crack back out like masons mortar. Not to mention the color and texture match I'm curious how long the your repairs will last and what it looks like. You've minimized the "6 1/2" X 8'" cracks that's 48 feet long and any cracks on the scale of 1/2 inch are considered major. Also a good part of my estimates is the cost of being in business you may not realize how owning a business costs $$$. And if you do it right you are GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. I See people standing with signs saying WILL WORK FOR FOOD as an Angie's list contractor I can't employ them but you as a homeowner may . We're glad you've found a good fit for the repair needs you have but a legit company comparison not only isn't on the same page were not even in the same book. Maybe you could sponcer them on Angie's list and he can compete with me on my level one day???
