John's Handyman Service

UPDATE March 24, 2013: Two years have passed since the shower install. The floor tile started to become loose and the grout at the joints started to crumble. We needed to hire a different company to remove all of the floor tile. When they removed a few pieces it was obvious that the original work was not performed adequately. The tile was not troweled at the thin set and the shower drain installed is not the correct type to adjust to the thickness of the tile. It was also never recommended by John's Handyman to regularly apply sealer to the grout joints. Needless to say that we will never work with this company again.

John was a find! He was very responsive and thoughtful in his approach, accommodated my unique needs (out of state landlord), and did a quality job at a fair price. I can't recommend him highly enough. Will definitely rehire.

Went pretty well, they cleaned up at the end of the day. Few things got broken. Glass installed upside down, they did come back and fix it.

The paint what they used is not as great as it should have been. The workers are very nice and polite. They don't do all the work together. If they finish one work, they will leave in the middle of the day and they will come on the next day to do the other work, so it took much time for them to finish the work, but they did a good job. In the future, if I find someone else with the same price, I would use someone else or else I would use them again.

He wasn't very punctual and didn't show up for three weeks.

John came out in advance of his crew and walked through the house with me to assure that he knew what I needed. We were happy with the work and will likely use them again.

Great quality, on time, and on budget. John fixed the drain pipe in our kitchen sink and replaced the doorbell battery at no additional cost.

He is golden! His bids are very competitive and he has become our go-to-guy. He is always punctual and he and his crew are very polite and courteous. We had an emergency at the home where I couldn?t be there and they were able to handle the problem for me.

I have chosen John to do the job, but I haven?t yet got the work done and I am going to use him in the next month. He quoted me about $1000. I feel that the price is good compared to two other people who gave me the estimates. I liked John because he was the only one who came over and looked at the problem. The other two responded through phone and gave me a quote and I also sent them the pictures by e-mail. I want to see how John would perform the job and he is good too.

John was flexible with the day and time of the appointment and arrived on time. He was very efficient and fast.

The work was performed as requested for the price that was bid.

He did a good job and I would use him again. He was very friendly and stayed right with the work. My only complaint is that he used some different people and he was experienced but they were not always experienced. He made sure everything got done and he seemed to kind of rush them. He worked by the hour and wanted to get the work done in the time allotted.

We called John to help us get our house ready to sell. We had various parts of the house with pet damage (we have a very easily bored dog), and other things that we just needed to fix. The initial estimate for replacing trim, painting trim, replacing spindles, smoothing a corner of granite, patching 2 cabinets, replacing a high cieling light bulb and fixing an electrical outlet came to $1,600. The final cost was $2,200. This was attributed to the spindles having to be custom made. While John told me this would increase the cost possibly by $200, I was a little thrown off by the $600 increase from the initial quote. But, overall the work was good, they were always on time, and went out of their way to get the spindles made (all the way to a woodworker in Fort Worth).

Went very well. We happened to be out of town during the fence repair and everything went beautifully. If any minor things were left undone, they were there the very next morning and it was taken care of. Extremely satisfied with the work done!

Everything, from intial contact with John right through to arrangement of payment went very smooth. John came over at a convenient time - I discussed what I wanted done -- John let me know what he could do to remedy the fixes and then gave me a written bid and a start/finish time. I accepted. Since it was imperative that the timeline be followed as I was on a tight deadline - needless to say I was more than pleased when everything was finished on time and top notch! His helpers were knowledgeable about all that they were doing - especially the carport ceiling that was my major concern. They were able to answer all my questions and explain all that they had done and the process that they went through to fix it. And cleanup -- when you're working with concrete in the house, the fine dust settles everywhere ! When I got home after they were almost done - the guys had dusted, vacuumed and otherwise taken care of all the messy cleanup - to the point to where I couldn't even tell they had opened a bag of concrete. I was also able to contact John as needed and he kept me abreast of the details as well as when they would be completed. In total, I was more than pleased with the work John and his crew did. They were courteous, professional, punctual, knowledgeable in everything they did. John pricing was also fair for the work done. I will be using John's Handman Services again AND more importantly, referring him to my friends!

John's was professional and high quality. They were very busy, and it took a while to a few days to get an estimate, and then another 2 weeks to schedule them. But, their work was high quality and reliable. Not cheap, but I would use them again for complicated handyman needs.

It went great. The guy is a real find. They came out and did the most extensive preparation I've ever seen for exterior painting. They replaced boards, sanded, caulked, and primed. They did a lot of work. They finished ahead of schedule and the house looks like a brand new house even though it was build in 1964. He's done a lot of other work for us too and he always makes sure we're happy.

I am very happy with the quality of work he did.

They were on time and the price was reasonable. They did a beautiful job. The man who came out was very polite. Everything was great.

Very good service. John's workers were all competent and cleaned up after finishing their work. They arrived on time both days. I really appreciated that they listened to what I wanted done, and followed my instructions.

John and his workers came on time, always kept in touch, and had very high quality standards for all of their work. Workers were very careful not to make a mess in the house, including taking off shoes due to rainy day mud and using drop cloths wherever appropriate. The actual charges were completely consistent with the estimate. John didn't leave until he was sure that all jobs were done perfectly.

John is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He gave information to his crew and then left to pick up more tiles for the bathroom project. Tilework is excellent. Good work on Gutters, but I would have preferred that the missing screen had been replaced. The other work was well done as also.

All I can say is John is a rare find. His crew is very professional, punctual, personable, they go above and beyond expectations to do things right and make sure you are happy. As always, when you are having a lot of work done like this, things come up that weren't in the original estimate or work order, and they just worked them right in and it was seamless. It's nice to know that you have someone that can come and help you with all of your little things around the house and it's going to be done right and it's at a good price.
