Mr. Richard Deatherage came and gave me an unpressured estimate. His price fell in the middle of 4 other companies. All the reports on Angies List of The Dan Keenan Paint Company were good with no negatives. Mr. Deatherage actually listened to what I had to say ahd was able to accomplish the job in the time that I requested to have it done. He recommended Sherwin Williams Stain/Paint but when I mentioned that I would prefer to use Behr (see June 2011 Consumer Reports) he agreed and offered no argument. He also came out and removed the signs that I had on the fence and put the ones back that were permanent. The job was completed as promised and there was no mess nor spots left behind. He also left a can of the paint for touchup and/or referral purposes.

We had a problem with our steam shower's paint peeling and becoming discolored over time. After reading the wonderful reports on Angie's List, I called Dan Keenan and spoke with Richard. He came by the house the next afternoon, and advised that as he'd have to devote a crew for full block of time, we should have more than one repair/job done to make it worth the set fee. After getting to know our simple need, however, he offered to send his crew by in a couple of visits, to take care of my job while traveling to/from others. As I was flexible with our scheduling, this worked wonderfully for me; they came by one day for an hour to set up, repair some drywall, and prime, then the next morning for an hour to finish painting! Everything was meticulously kept clean, and his crew was so careful with my home. We would hire Richard and his crew again in a heartbeat - thanks so much!

We had an excellent experience with Dan Keenan Painting. They painted the walls of our large master bathroom and ceiling, as well as closed in a large (over 4' x 6') hole in the ceiling from where we used to have a skylight. They matched the texture (orange peel?) on our ceiling perfectly. They also painted our exterior trim and chimney (some of which are very steep) and our front and back doors and garage doorr. All work was done by hand (not sprayed). We were very pleased with the results.

Very professional, arrived and gave a thorough and thoughtful estimate. He thought of things that others did not think about. We were very impressed. Other circumstances made it impossible to use him at this time, but we would definitely call him again in the future.

Overall, I was very pleased with the end result. Dan was very professional, punctual and considerate of my budget. His staff were dilligent and completed the work in a timely fashion. Dan was honest about time frames, and offered his professional expertise to make the end product blend with the rest of my house. I am very happy with their work. I plan to use them again for exterior painting on my home.

I contacted the Dan Keenan Painting Company after reading reviews on Angie's List. I was looking for someone in the area with a good reputation for quality work. Dan came by and discussed our options for covering this very dated stained wood found throughout our newly purchased home. His recommendations were most helpful. After receiving his competitive bid, we awarded Dan the work. Dan sent one of his fine crews to do the work but he supervised their progress on a daily basis. The successful project met all our expectations. We will happily call Dan and his team for any future painting needs.

Rich gave us a bid on the work to be done two months in advance. Due to the holidays we elected to wai till Jan. The bid was lower than some others but we felt more comfortable with Rich and his explanation of how the work would progress. All floor areas and doorways were covered to minimize dust through out the rest of the house. Rich checked the progress daily. All personnel were pleasant and accomodating. Dan Keenan also checked the progress frequently. The final result was more than satisfactory considering that the walls needed extra work. We were more than satisfied with the final results. Having worked with subcontractors and contractors previously the experience was above average. Rich gave us bids on other areas of the home that will be done later. I would not hesitate to recommend Dan Keenan painters to anyone. The experience was very pleasant.

Excellent. I used this company 6 years ago when I last painted the exterior. I was very pleased with their work the first time. This time around, I put them to the competitive bid test and they did quite well. They were not the least expensive, but they were far from the most expensive. Given that, I went with them again. This time they performed another excellent job. They were at my home for three days. Keenan's project manager, Richard Deatherage, was on-site at the the beginning of the day, and the end of the day, and in-between. It was evident that he trusts his people. On the last morning, I walked around the house looking for any final touch-ups that needed to be done. I found only 3 - 4 minor ones. When Richard arrived, we did another walk-around in which I pointed out the items I had found. He found another. All these were corrected before they left. The cleanup was excellent. You'd never know they had been there. A couple of other quick notes...richard is excellent to deal with - very punctual and very customer oriented. The painters are very detail oriented and very thorough. They are also very neat. No paint on the bricks.

Currently they are finishing up the woodwork but we are extremely pleased with the work that has been done especially where repairs had to be made and where walls had to be textured. Dan and his workers were all very pleasant to work with, were industrious and careful to protect furniture etc. We highly recommend this company. Although they are not the cheapest company, the workmanship is excellent and we think you will be well satisfied with the finished product. We are!

Contact was made quickly - estimate was reasonable. Painters actually came earlier than expected. There was a bit of miscommunication between workers and me concerning removal of border (language barrier). Wallpaper initially bubbled in a few places, but receded after a few days and looks great. The workers cleaned up very nicely and the contractor made a helpful suggestion concerning the rehanging of a large, heavy mirror.

Dan Keenan came to my house and looked at all the areas I wanted painted and repaired. The next day he emailed me his bid. I accepted the bid, and we agreed on a start date. The crew came on time and began work. The crew was polite and considerate, and cleaned up every day. We did have a problem with matching paint color. However, they made it right and did not charge me any additional fees. They did beautiful, professional work. You can't tell where they patched my walls, it was perfect. I would use them again.

Richard and crew were professional and prompt, from bid, to start up, to finish. When I asked for guidance and suggestions on selection of colors or the job Richard was very helpful. Richard is a perfectionist, an uncompromising worker and a thorough person. When the time comes for painting at my home, Dan Kennan will be invited to bid.

Richard's team was great. They were on time every day, worked non stop to finish as soon as possible and made sure everything was clean when they left. The finished rooms looked unbelievable. Richard even came by the next day to touch up spots that I hadn't even noticed. These guys are great to work with and would recommend them to everyone.

This is a truly amazing company. Dan Keenan has been involved in painting for almost 30 years, starting as an apprentice painter in a family business and now the owner of a large, very experienced company with 4 painting crews. We needed to repaint our home, inside and outside, which had not been done for many years. The last experience we had with painting was a nightmare, so we selected carefully (using Angie's list) this time. We had 3 bids and Dan Keenan was the middle bid - not the cheapest, not the most expensive - but we were impressed with his sincerity and track record. It took a total of 11 work days to do everything - all exterior surfaces prepped and painted, all interior surfaces. This included covering over embossed wallpaper and retexturing the dining room, removing a wallpaper strip in the kitchen, painting over a fireplace mantle (previously wood stained surface), and re-repairing a ceiling in the master bedroom that had been damaged by another painter years ago, and repaired poorly. And lastly, they restained and refinished wood cabinets in the kitchen. During the repainting of our chimney on the roof, they discovered rotting wood that required replacement - they were able to do that also, saving me hundreds of dollars (and time) that would have been spent if I had had to get a separate handyman or contractor. During the entire 2+ week process I was very impressed by their attention to detail, their desire to do a good job, and their expertise. The lead painter on the crew had 10 years' experience and it showed. He not only handled the difficult parts but often went back and reworked areas painted by some of the less-experienced painters, when he was dissatisfied with the results. The owner, Dan, was out to the house at least once and often twice a day, even picking up a brush himself now and then and going over an area he was not happy with. He spent at least 2 hours a day at the site most days. Like most big jobs of this nature, surprises happened, but they were handled at a very minor added cost. For example, they thought one coat of paint would cover, since we only made a slight change in color, but they found that the semi-gloss paint in the bathrooms wouldn't cover adequately with one coat, so it took two in those rooms. And the wood replacement on the chimney, as noted above. After a previous negative experience with a painting company, we found Dan Keenan and his crew very pleasant, very professional, very experienced. I had to remind them on several occasion of small details we had agreed to, but there was never an argument - they agreed and did it - they had just forgotten. On any job this complex it behooves the owner to keep an eye on things and make sure all the details are taken care of - you can't just sit back and wait for it to be finished and hope all the details were handled. In summary, we had a big, complex, occasionally difficult job, but they did it, did it very well, and were always protective of our belongings, our furniture, our carpets and tile surfaces. It could not have gone more smoothly. Dan and his crew are excellent and I recommend them to anyone, especially if you have a large home with potential problems and surprises.

The ceilings were messed up by a roof leak and when the work was completed they both looked as though nothing had ever happened. The job was finished on time, the ceilings looked great and I was a happy camper. This paint company had previously worked on refinishing my front door and I was very pleased with that as well.

They did wonderful. Richard, the main sales contact, was extremely flexible. We had other crews in the home and it was great how much they worked with me. We had things come up throughout the project and they didn't hesitate to take care of it. They also had a phenomenol crew (Abraham and Gregory) - very professional, stayed on track, and much attention to detail.

He came to look at the job, and I think he was very thorough and honest. Everything went according to plan, and he followed through. I don?t have a complaint. He had somebody working with him, and they both were the best that you could want in a team coming to work for you. I would highly recommend him. I have other work inside my house that I need to get done and I have no hesitation in calling him to do the job.

He just did a great job! Everything turned out just fine. He was very professional and showed up on time. His prices were reasonable and I would use him again.

HE HAS A CREW THAT HE SUPERVISES. THEY WERE REFERRED BY A NEIGHBOR. HE CAME OUT RIGHT AWAY AND GAVE ME A QUOTE. HE WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO DO THE WORK WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS. HE THOUGHT IT MIGHT TAKE TWO WEEKS TO DO THE WORK BUT THEY WERE DONE IN LESS THAN THAT. THEY WORKED REAL HARD AND STAYED ON TASK. THEY CLEANED UP AFTERWARDS. THE QUOTE WAS RIGHT ON.
