+ 0 moreI was concerned about getting the old heater out since it had to come from the attic through the den and out over the deck in back. I was concerned about possible damages. The men arrived as scheduled on time and went to work draining and removing the old heater. They were able to find an outlet in the attic to drain the heater so that a hose wasn't needed through the house. I was working on my PC in a nearby room and really never heard when they removed the old heater and brought the new one in. They installed the new heater with a new pan and cleaned up all areas. There was no damage and the work was finished in a timely manner. I would not hesitate to use them again.

+ -1 moreI was able to get an appointment quickly (the next day). He (I wish I remembered his name) arrived on time and was clean, professional and prepared for the job. He went to right to work on the shower. No additional explanation or hand-holding required. When it was completed, he explained what he had done and alerted me to a potential problem that may arise due to the age of our pipes. He then explained how they could access the pipes without tearing out the shower tiles. Next, he tackled the dishwasher. An old water cut-off valve prevented the dishwasher from going flush under the counter. Dallas Plumbing removed the dishwasher, cautious not to scratch the tile. He then carefully measured the clearance required to properly reset the dishwasher. When it went back in place, he was meticulous about getting it level and securely attached. I am delighted with Dallas Plumbing. I feel as if they put the same care and attention into my repairs that they would on their own home repairs. Plus, I received a senior discount!
Description of Work: Fix a leak in the shower stall plus pull dishwasher out, remove old water cut-off valve and reset the dishwasher.

Description of Work: Aaron arrived on time for several projects. He replaced a kitchen faucet, changed out an aerator on a faucet, replaced a flapper on a toilet, installed a new shower head, replaced washers & seats on shower valve. He cleaned up after each project. I was very pleased with his work. He mention that it looked like my hot water heater might be rusting out. He will get an estimate about possibly replacing it.

+ -1 moreI was told the plumber would be here between 8:30 and 9:30 on 7/16/2010. He and his helper arrived approximately 8:45 (the company had called to let me know they were on their way) and evaluated the situation and saw that they would need a jackhammer. They had to go back to the company to get one and immediately started on the job when they returned. Aaron, the plumber, kept me apprised of what was going on and explained what they were having to do and why. I thought he and his helper, Garrett, were very efficient in use of their time. I think they probably did a very thorough job on the repair and I am very pleased with the results. They also cleaned up the area very well after the work was finished. They both were very professional and "customer service" oriented. I have a few other non-urgent plumbing needs around my house and will definitely be calling Dallas Plumbing to do the work. And, if at all possible, I will be asking for Aaron and Garrett to do the work. I did not get an estimate of cost prior to the job, but feel the charges were probably fair. I was very pleased that not only did they honor a $50.00 coupon I had printed from their site on Angies List, but they also gave me a 10% senior discount.
Description of Work: Repaired a leak on my side of the water meter. Required breaking up the sidewalk with a jackhammer and making a hole of approximately 18 to 24 inches. The leak was 8 inches from the meter.

+ 0 moreI had something stuck in my garbage disposal. The plumber came out, fixed it with no problem and also looked at my dishwasher. The problem with the dishwasher was not plumbing related, but the plumber made some helpful suggestions that worked to fix the problem. The plumber came exactly when he said he would be there; he was quick and professional and very helpful.
Description of Work: The plumber got something unstuck from my garbage disposal. I was also having trouble with my dishwasher and thought it might be a plumbing problem and the plumber took a look at this as well.

Description of Work: I completed as much as possible on two bathroom renovations, and left the heavy lifting/plumbing to them. The roughed in pipes, replaced 1960s drains/vents, faucets/shower heads, replaced toilets/tubs, shower pan, etc.... basically, all of the plumbing required.

+ -1 moreoverall it went very well. This guy knew his business, got up there did the work and charged me a fair amount. The amount charged includes a new toliet bowl. As everybody knows it is important if you have a plumbing probolem to have a company that stands behind their work, and has been around for a long time. Dallas Plumbing people fit these requirements.
Description of Work: toliet bowl in upstairs bathroom was leaking at base and at top. It was put in during a remodel 10 years ago and we have had problems with it over the years. Mr. James Roebuck, Dallas Plumbing took one look and said the reason you have had problems is one of the parts at the base is missing. Based on cost estimates, I decided to buy a new bowl. Mr Roebuck went over my options related to the types of bowls out there. I made a choice, he told me that he could have it ready by the following morning.. He was here this morning at 9am and was done by 10am. He had applied a 10 percent senior discount and also applied the Angie's list discount. I liked that part!

+ -1 moreSomeone came out and gave me an estimate-it was my third estimate and I felt it was fair. The professionalism of the man that came out also made me choose Dallas Plumbing. On the day work was scheduled, two men showed up and worked all day including doing a pressure test. It finally looked good, so the inspection was set for the next day. At 7:30am the 2nd day, one of the Dallas Plumbers showed up and checked the pressure again-just to make sure. The job passed the city inspection with no problems. Within a couple of hours the Dallas Plumbing plumbers came back and my gas was back on in a few minutes. The most pleasant part, apart from the confidence I felt in their work, was that my bill was EXACTLTY what the estimate had been. I highly recommend Dallas Plumbing.

+ -1 moreAFTER the repair had been finished and I had given the plumber a check for the total amount, he informed me that he had used inferior materials to make the repair. Because of the inferior materials used, he said the repair would carry no warranty. He, also, wrote "No warranty" on my copy of the invoice. I feel I should have been told before the repair was made that he was going to use inferior materials which would carry no warranty. I would have insisted he use materials which were up to standard. I gladly would have paid the extra cost to have the repair done properly. After the work was completed, it was too late for me to make a decision on whether to have the repair done properly, or whether to settle for something which I am going to need to have redone. They have offered to return and do the repair correctly at a reduced cost to me. I wanted them to do the repair correctly in the first place. This is not about price. It is about shoddy work.
Description of Work: A water leak between the water meter and the house was repaired by replacing a piece of pipe.

+ -1 moreDay 1 Excessive labor and parts cost to replace worn washers on a leaky tub faucet. Other plumbers quoted me 1 hour for labor. Dallas Plumbing Company took 2 hours. The new washers must be pretty special to cost $60. Also, they mounted the faucet hardware upside down. Instead of turning the knobs down for water, you now have to turn the knobs up. Day 2 The toilet work seems fine. I suspect that they padded the faucet repair labor to make it worth the trip.
Description of Work: Day 1 $300 ($60 in parts, 2 hours labor) to replace washers on a leaky tub faucet. Day 2 $440 to replace toilet wax seal, attach the drain pipe to the floor, and reattach the toilet to the drain pipe.

gas leak repair
+ -1 moreI was extremely satisfied with Dallas Plumbing and would recommend them to anyone. Everyone I talked to was professional and helpful. They would have come out immediately but I was not able to wait so they accomodated my schedule without any problem. After scheduling my appointment, I even called another co. that does NOT do gas leak repair and asked who they would recommend and they said definitely Dallas Plumbing.
Description of Work: Gas co. came out to replace my gas meter and found leak. Called DPC and they scheduled exactly when I requested and arrived on time. Chris performed checks at every gas outlet and amazingly found a gas leak under my house from an old floor furnace that I assumed had been disconnected when it was floored over in kitchen. Chris was very thorough, explained what he was doing and even noted a couple of places that were not leaking but needed to be capped. He put a gauge on the meter and returned early the next morning to be sure everything was still ok. DPC handled everything - city inspection, etc. Chris returned in time to meet with the inspector in case there were any questions.

The repairman explained that the part (a diverter) causing the pressure loss was optional, and showed me exactly what it did. He also showed me how to install it if I decided I did want to replace it down the road. We discussed that the faucet was new and the part could be under warranty from the manufacturer. The leak under the sink (leaky hot stop) was found and corrected. I was pleased with their work and charges.
Description of Work: Found a defective part in my kitchen faucet causing it to have less pressure. Found and corrected a leak under the kitchen sink.

+ 0 moreWe set a date, the plumbers arrived on time, worked quietly and efficiently, and cleaned up afterwards, including removal of the old tank. It was a challenging job because my tank is in the attic (it was a warm day) and requires a special size to get through a small door in the master closet. James even took $100 off the quote because the tank he originally quoted did not fit and the job was delayed while they went and got the right size. Afterwards, James made sure I had everything I needed to arrange the required inspection with the city. He even offered to make the appointment for me.
Description of Work: I called two companies to give me an estimate for replacing my corroding hot water heater with a tankless model. The rep from the first company talked endlessly and spent a lot of time inspecting every nook and cranny, then scribbled some confusing numbers on a piece of paper. The second plumber, James, from Dallas Plumbing, looked in the pertinent places then told me he'd e-mail a quote. The next day I got a very professional, detailed, easy to understand quote, so I went with Dallas Plumbing. Both companies pointed out that it would be very expensive for me to extend the existing gas line for my furnace to support a tankless water heater. Dallas Plumbing said they just started representing a new, very efficient electric tankless system, and gave me quotes for both tankless and traditional. I decided to go with the traditional since the electric tankless had no history.
