Dallas Gutter & Repair

I was looking to correct a few problems from a recent gutter replacement. The work they performed did correct the problems. I called them back for a very minor issue. They resolved the issue in a willing and expeditious manner.

Overall experience was great. They put up the new gutters & downspouts per the estimate (no hidden charges). They re-used some of the old downspouts that were in good shape. The yard and bushes we all cleaned and the old materials hauled away.

I called Dallas Gutteer and Repair and spoke to Rachel. She scheduled a gentleman to come to my home and leave an estimate for a full cleaning of the gutters as well as a few small repairs. The total estimated cost was right around $360.00 which was in line with other companies I spoke to. I then called the company and asked them to schedule the work on June 7. I did ot get a call back from the Salesperson as promised so I called back on June 9 to check. Rachel stated that she would have someone call right away. As of June 20 I still had not gotten a call from anyone. I called Rached back and asked to be removed from their schedule due to their complete lack of response. I would have been fine to wait on the work since there is no rain forecast for several weeks if they had bothered to have any communication back to me at all.I selected another company from angies list and while there willb e a small delay on starting the work, they have communicated very well and have given me solid dates and times.

Arrived right on time, explained repairs needed, delivered price immediately.

First, let me say that it's likely a tribute to this company that Kevin was my salesperson 10 years ago and today, since turnover is the norm in a lot of companies today. He's an extremely knowledgeable and professional guy and a pleasure to work with. Kevin looked over my gutters, and the only gutter repairs that I should make to sell my house are portions of two downspouts on the garage that vandals smashed in for the fun of it years ago (they work fine but a home buyer would want them fixed). I've had a roofer and painter here just before Kevin (because I'm working on my curb appeal and punch list issues to sell), and Kevin also gave me helpful advice about the eaves, soffits, trim, fascia, etc., in terms of areas that I can make sure the painter's carpenter repairs. We also discussed the roofers repairs, since gutters and the roof and eaves are interrelated. Kevin also didn't pressure me in the least to fix the downspouts. In fact, he commented that I might want to leave them so that the inspector can find them, since they'll likely want to find things to show they're worth their fee to inspect. To be truthful to other Angie's List Members though, there was a problem with scheduling yesterday because the company's scheduler routed him to Plano, then West Dallas I believe, then to here in Carrollton (they should try to always schedule geographically). However, Kevin called to see if he could meet with me earlier, after his Plano appointment. When I couldn't, he tried to accommodate our appointment time, but called to say that he couldn't be on time from West Dallas, and so we rescheduled for today. Kevin began our appointment by apologizing for the scheduling problem. Overall, 10 years of gutters that are still fine . . . and a great salesperson who still works there.

It went great. There was no trouble and the expectations were met.

Ok. so I am updating my response. Here is the real story behind their cryptic response. So their response is "that they did make an error" more like two or three or four errors.... I was scheduled to have the work completed. When they did not show up on time and on the day THEY scheduled, I called them. They did not even have me scheduled or on a list as evidenced in their response "I did not realize the error until we received a phone call." After several (3-4) phone calls from this "very frustrated customer" I told them that rescheduling was not an option and they needed to get out here as they promised. I kinda feel that since I took a day off from work and they did not show up as promised I had the right to be fustrated. Their clerical errors are not my fault. They did get a crew out here that day (about 2 hours late). Pretty sure if I had not called they would not have come out at all. By the way.... had to call their office twice to get a return call from their operations guy who does the scheduling.. So when they did show up they started the process of putting up my gutters. They were missing 2 parts for my gutters. Their solution was to spray paint some of the parts that were in a different color. I did not allow this to happen and they seemed quite put out that they had to have the right color parts delivered to my house. Had I not been watching them, then I might not have caught their short cuts and what I consider "shotty workmanship." I was even told by the owner that they were to "get the job done anyway they could. They did offer me an "generous discount for my inconvenience" which was initially a whopping $36.... I settled on $64, WOW!!! that was generous! Yes the owner did call me directly, as he should have with all the problems I had. It's the least he could do. Also got a call back when he read my first Angie's list review and I think he was pretty upset with it. I informed him that I would update the rsponse, but it was going to be an honest response. I really hope he didnt call me to get me to lie about it. What they did not tell you is that "clean up" was due to his inconsiderate crew throwing their cigarette butts in my yard. Not to add insult to injury. NICE and CLASSY huh? They also left screws exposed and one strap on a downspout was not cleaned up. So yes, they had to come out a second time to clean up what they should have done the first time. As for satisfying this customer, there is little they can do at thi point. I consider myself to be a pretty reasonable person and the owner even stated that I experienced several problems. Did he take care of them, to be fair, Yes he did. Should I have ever had the problems, NO! Also, their response says immediate, no, it was not quite immediate. My last phone call took about 3-4 hours before it was returned, but it was returned. However, I did not call on a Saturday, the call was Friday afternoon and I talked to the owner with my additional concerns friday evening. They did come to clean up their mess on Saturday when they did have crews out. So I am pretty sure he is going to respond again to this posting. But remember I don't have anything to loose with what I say and is he really giving you the full story in their cryptic response. By the way, the owner did not write the response! I would seriously consider what I, as a normal customer, had to go through with this company. Is it really worth it to take the chance? Your call. *****Update 08-31-2011***** So i finally get an invoice from the company some six months later... The note attached reads: "Our apologies for the delay on billing. We thought the invoice had been revised to reflect the discount you were gven and mailed to you already. " Kind regards, Kristye McDonald The letter is dated 08-08-2011..... they did not even ave the courtsey to spell my name right. Really... 6 months later you bill me for the terrible service you provided and offer these lam excuses as your respons to my posting. This further supports my original posting. This compant is HORRIBLE to work with....my recommendation ****FIND ANOTHER CONTRACTOR****

I am probably going to use Dallas Gutter Cleaning. I thought he was very personable and professional.

'Greg' was very professional and knowledgeable. He also worked with me in terms of price. He understood that I was on a limited budget and he came up with some resourceful ideas to correct my existing problems while saving me additional expenses.

It went very well. We were informed in advance how long it should take and what to expect would be done. All went as expected.

Dallas Gutter representative came to the house and inspected the gutters and gave me an estimate. From there, I scheduled an appointment...about 2 weeks out. They arrived promptly and did exactly the job they said they would do. They were extremely professional...both for the estimate and for the actual work. I will definitely use them again.

It went beautifully. They completed the project in about 4 hours. The gutters are just what I wanted, and the crew was professional. I think my neighbors are going to hire them too!

The lady that answered the phone took all of my information and told me they could come out at 11:30 the next day. I explained that I worked on the opposite side of the city from where I lived and asked for a late afternoon appointment. She told me it would be a couple weeks before they could do that. I asked her if she could put me on a list in case someone canceled. She told me that they didn't do that. I told her I was going to list my hosue and needed somethiong sooner and would call someone else. With that she hung up on me. No goodby. Nothing. I called back and asked to speak to an owner. She asked me if there was a problem and I told her I thought she was less than courteous. She said she would leave them a message but no one ever called me back.

I was impressed with the estimator that gave us a free estimate. He was very consultative, explaining different options for downspout locations, gutter sizes, and how the gutters should be attached to the house. Even though Dallas Gutter and Repair was not the cheapest, I went with them because I felt they would purposely do the best job. So far, I have not been proven wrong. I could not be happier.

Company originally quoted four gutters; I asked them to do two. They installed covered gutters on the north and south side of house. They were very consultative regarding what would be effective vs. just costing more with not much to show for it. They had previously done work at my house and were also among the lower bidders for this job. The only negative comments I would make is that one recently installed gutter appears to leak along a seam during heavy rains, and in one case they chose to fasten gutter to roof where fascia board had rotted. But I don't think this had anything to do with quality of work as much as uncomfortable surprises that they had no involvement in.

We have two additions on an old house, which means lots of corners and places where old doesn't exactly match new. In other words, it's not a straight shot from one side to the other. The work looks great. They used two sizes of gutters, partly because of water flow off the roof, but mostly to make them "match up" when you are looking up at the gutters, and they did a great job. The salesman, Kevin, was very informative and very patient answering my questions on a cold, rainy day (though he did point out that being out in cold rain comes with the territory when you install gutters). He left an estimate and let us figure out what we wanted to do from there without bothering us. When we called back a month later, they got a crew out within two days. The guys were polite, quick, and left literally only one small screw behind. (My two youngs children were disappointed with their treasure hunt.)

Salesperson, Greg, came out in October for a quote. He was very professional and knowledgeable...took the time to explain exisitng problems with my gutters....told him I was on a tight budhet due to other foundation work that needs to be done and he worked with me knowing that....he came up with a great idea to save me money, and in the end it will likely provide better drainage from my roof during heavy downpours. I contacted company last Friday and they came out today (Thursday) and job was completed when I arrived home at 4pm. Gutters match existing gutters in color perfectly and even though the new gutter is oversized, it blends in seamlessly with the gutters on each side of the 56 ft of gutter installed. Everything looks great and absolutely no mess anywhere.

I was to get a phone call from the scheduler stating what time the workers would arrive on the scheduled day. It was a rainy day, but I didn't get a call until 5:45pm stating that the work would have to be rescheduled. I requested to be the first appointment on the rescheduled day and to receive a phone call when the workers were on their way. I didn't get a call, the workers just showed up at 10am. I was pressed for time on that day, but the workers assured me that the job would be completed within my timeframe. They indeed finished on time and did a great job doing the repairs!

Very well. The crew arrived as scheduled, verified the work order and began immediately. They were efficiient--with some working on leaf screens while others began the tune up. No wasted time. Don't think they took a break. They were all over the roof onto the smallest and most precarious areas of the guttering. Rain prevented them from finishing that day, but they were back on the first clear day to finish. The crew leader explained about some problems and what had been done to correct them. Said to call if we noticed anything not right and they would be back. There is a nice warranty, but it was reassuring to have him volunteer to make things right.

They were excellent. Top marks! They were punctual and reasonably priced. I had gotten bids from others that were rude but these people were great! Very professional!

No problems. Gutters were cleaned and the downspouts repaired.

They came out right on time and they left a pretty detailed estimate for the work. They estimated that the work would cost about five hundred dollars. They responded on the phone and by email.

They were great all the way around, very reasonble in terms of price and the service was excellent.

They were responsive and ontime. They did the work in about three hours. I felt the price was a bit high, but I went with them based on the many good reviews on Angie's List. The only complaint I have is that they didn't do a very good job with the cleanup. I am still finding strips of aluminum in the grass (I run over these pieces with my lawnmower, which makes an awful sound), and lots of screws and nails on my patio and sidewalk. I can only assume there are more nails and screws hidden in my grass.

They were very nice. I know nothing about gutters and they were very patient in explaining it to me. They did it in a timely manner and everything looks good. It was kind of expensive but I have no idea what is should cost. I am sure the cost was comparable to others.
