We weren't in a hurry to have this completed which turned out to be a good thing, because Chris is backed up about 3 weeks. He did good work.
Description of Work: Chris and his crew widened our driveway. He cleared the area, dug out the area and poured the concrete all in one day. He left the area clean and in good shape.

He had to wait until the weather was OK to do that. As soon as he was able to, he got it done. Everything worked out fine. We would use him again.

Very well. The employees worked hard and were polite. Chris has an excellent sense of humor which made it a joy to talk with him. From a practical aspect, he came up with ideas saving me thousands over another contractor from Angie's List who would have replaced much more of the driveway and sidewalk. The first step was using jackhammers to break up the concrete. This was around a 5 hour project and it produces alot of dust. Once the concrete was removed, forms and rebar were placed and concrete poured. Instead of using wood to separate the slabs, they used a polymer which is more conducive to the movement of the slabs, which happens during varying periods of moisture and dryness. I did one change order which can be quite expensive with some contractors but I felt Chris' additional cost was very reasonable and I liked his ideas to improve the look of the work. After the job was done, I felt I needed some slate to break up the vastness of the rock. I asked Chris for the cost and explained I would set the slate. Chris said "Hmmm. I think I have something around the house." The next day an employee came by with 6 nice pieces of slate and inserted them. No charge! The entire project took 2 days and I didn't drive on the driveway for the following 5 days.
Description of Work: Repaired driveway by cutting and removing sections with cracks. Cut and removed a 4" diameter tree root which had pushed the concrete slab up 3". Landscaped areas against the sidewalk and curb by removing top soil and laying a weed barrier upon which rock and slate was placed.

Chris Roberts got back to me very quickly after emailing him through Angies List and within 2 days was able to stop by my house and confirm how much the project would cost. It took me a week to check a few other quotes and get back to him, but after agreed on using his services he was able to set a time and his crew arrived within 1 hour of the time told and began to work. The entire job took them about 3-4 hours until everything was poured and after leaving a for a lunch break they came back and finsihed the brushing on the side walk and cleaned everything up. From that a point a cone was left to block off the side walk until it was able to be walked on. 3 days after the original visit is crew returned and removed the forms. The new sidewalk looks great. Chris Roberts quote came in a lot lower than everyone, but even he agreed that it probably wouldn't be the lowest. When comparing to a Contractor Job Cost calculator on the Internet his job came within $150 for what it said the job should probably cost in my area. The few other places I contacted were $1,000 more. After asking one of them why it was so high most of them said that they don't do any job less than 2k, and I could gladly get them to do additional work in addition to the sidewalk without increasing the quote. If you are at least needing a walk way replaced I would highly recommend Chris, he was very professional and he seemed to be honest in that he wouldn't try to upsell you on something you didn't need. Also, the new sidewalk looks great. Excellent experience over all.
Description of Work: Original walkway from Street Sidewalk to the house was damaged half of it was uneven (Aka what we call Tim Burton) with a big 2 inch crack where part of it suck due to the typical expanding clay soil in the DFW area. They removed the original sidewalk to the house, approximately 900 square feet, 3ft wide and about 30 feet long. Kept the same curves and step as in the original design and finished with brushed concrete to match the sidewalk. 4inch Deep Concrete, rebar reinforced, doweled into the existing concrete city sidewalk and porch.

Chris came out and discussed the job I wanted done with me. He sent me his bid and after several gotten bids, I decided to go with Chris. He worked with me since I was also having a patio top put up at the same time. His crew was on time, on schedule and had their work done all while waiting on the cement truck to arrive. Due to no fault of theirs, the cement truck never showed and I was due to go out of town the next day for a week which made the timing perfect because then no one would be on the concrete and it would have time to cure and set up. Chris told me that they would take care of it on Thursday of that week and we would settle when I returned and approved of the work. Fabulous job, couldn't be happier...now if I could say as much for the patio top people, still waiting for that to get done.

At that time I just couldn’t afford it. The quote amount was about what everybody else gave me. I thought that they were fine. I was just trying to get some estimates to see how much it was going to cost. The people that I came in contact with were fine. They scheduled well and came out on time. They were professional.

Chris came out to give an estimate of the work as well as some suggestions to improve the work. His estimate was below the others I was given for the work. He came out on a Saturday to complete the work and they showed up on time to do the work. They dug out the flower bed, extended the pipe drain from the pool decking to be under the patio, and poured concrete in the area. They were able to closely match the pattern that already existed on the patio. They also were able to get rid of the brick and mortar on the patio to make it an even smooth service.
Description of Work: They removed 2 retaining walls and put in concrete in a 50 sq ft area where a flower bed used to be.

This review is overdue! Chris and his crew put a crushed granite overlay on my crumbling driveway November 2013. He listened to what I wanted--which was an Eco and budget friendly way to make the driveway look better. He cut a lot of cost off the project by suggesting an industrial grade granite that was less expensive than a decorative, but indistinguishable gravel. His crew poured new curbs and put in the entire driveway in 2 days. It looks great. No gravel traveling or slippage. I'm very pleased

From start to finish Chris and his team were great. Chris showed up on time for our first appointment and had the job done by lunch the next day. Although this was a smaller job for Chris I never felt as though I was any less important. The work his team did turned out perfect and price was right in line with what I expected. I will definitely use Chris again!

Originally, I asked for a scored, colored, concrete slab for my rear patio. When Chris Roberts? team installed it, they tore out the existing wood deck and discovered concrete under the old wood deck. They then poured the new concrete over existing concrete, and when complete, the new concrete slab was above the level of the house foundation. This caused water to leak into the family room of my home and to damage the wood siding on the outside wall. Thus, Chris Roberts had to tear out the whole thing (at their expense). At that time, they discovered that the old concrete (which was under the old wood deck) was part of the house slab with post-tension cables running through it and back under the house. Thus, they had only a few choices: 1) Tear out the old concrete (which was part of the house foundation); 2) Pour concrete on the lower part of the patio (to which the concrete foundation did not extend) and install flagstone over both the new concrete (at the lower end of the patio) plus over the existing foundation slab; 3) Refund my money and walk away from the job. To Chris? credit, he chose option 2 and installed beautiful flagstone. He kept telling me how much more expensive flagstone is versus a concrete slab (which is what I paid him to install). However, he never did anything to pull the water (when it rains) away from the patio. The first time we had a heavy rain, the patio collected several inches of water and started backing up towards the house (even though the patio flagstone was graded away from the house). After entering a negative review on Angie?s List, and asking them to intervene, I received a call from Chris. He volunteered to grade the dirt (where my yard and patio meet) so that water will not collect there, and to install a 9-inch grate at the end of my patio plus underground pipe to funnel the water to the front of my house. He did this for free in order to maintain a good rating on Angie?s List. Bottom Line: Chris demonstrated integrity by making everything right. I just wish that the work had been done properly the first time.

Chris and his guys did a great job fixing 2 issues we were having outside our house. 1) We have a sloped concrete patio that would collect/pool water when it rained. They drilled a 3-4 inch gradual slope in the troubled side of the concrete to reverse the flow of water flow when it rained. We?ve had a good amount of rain since then and everything has flowed out as intended. 2) We had a sub-surface drainage system that had two pop up emitters. When heavy rains would come, the drains were unable to keep up and would back up to the downspout. Chris and his team redirected the outflow in order to prevent thisbackup. Very happy with the work and new drainage system. The work looks clean, professional and discrete. We were very impressed and we recommend Chris to friends and neighbors.

We have a large patio nearly 400sq ft. with tile laid on top. There had been extensive cracking in the tile and it looked really bad. Chris tore out the existing tile and slabs. It turns out the old slab had another slab poured on top. This wasn't something that could have been easily detected because of retaining walls build around the patio and tile. Chris met the existing and agreed upon deadlines. He also did a little patch work on the retaining walls to make everything look new. I'm very happy with his work and I have recommended him to others.

Chris showed up promptly as promised and gave us a no-bull estimate. My neighbor extended his driveway at the same time and Chris gave us a discount because of it. The work was outstanding and it still looks great. I had a couple of the "A" rated contractors come out and gave excuses of why they couldn't do the work and gave me that pained look in their faces...you know the one. Chris got to it and didn't waste any time or attempt to BS me. With Chris, you can be assured you'll have your "Concrete Guy".

Chris and his crew did a great job. They poured a 12x20 slab for a shed and a slab for my A/C unit. They did all the work to prepare the yard for the pour so that it would be level. It only took them about a half of day and it turned out great. They also did a small pour for my A/C unit. The A/C unit was left on a wooden pallet by the previous owner. This was by far a harder pour because they had to prop the A/C unit up on blocks and pour under it. Both Chris and I weren't sure how it would turn out. But, despite the difficulty, Chris' crew did a great job and the slab is flat, level and looks like it was done without the A/C unit sitting on top. Out the contractors that gave me a bid, Chris was the most reasonably priced. He gave me a great price for the 12x20 slab and only charged me an extra $75 for the concrete slab for my A/C unit, which a more labor intensive pour. He gave me a bid over the phone and was able to stick to what he originally quoted me. He also was the only contractor to actually come to my property and review the job in person. All in all, I would highly recommend using Chris and his crew. We had such a good experience that we are going to use him again to build a stone mailbox for us. I will let y'all know how it turns out.
