The person who came out was very professional and very knowledgeable. I liked his professionalism and integrity. It was a very good experience overall.

It went very well. The tenant was notified every time the Handyman showed up and his working times were well coordinated with the tenant. The handyman recommended the materials needed, procured those items. The demolition of the old ceiling was done without much debris, then the new materials were cut and nailed to the ceiling. A popcorn texture was applied then the ceiling was painted white to match the other unharmed ceilings. The old warped front door was removed and a new frame and metal door was installed. After the knobs and locks were added, the door was painted. A new screen door was added to the same frame in front of the front door for appearance as well as added functionality during 70 degree days.

Deshon was the workman who did this job. He did an amazing job. My exterior back door threshold and wooden slope extending to the outside by the threshold were caving in. It turned out to be a challenging project. I have an old house, so was not surprised to find, when Deshon removed the existing threshold and wooden slope, that the sub-floor/underlayment was rotted. Deshon thought about the problem for a little while, then went to Home Depot & came back. I heard hammering and sawing sounds for awhile, while he worked on this problem. Then he called me, and when I looked at what he'd done, I was amazed at the quality work he'd done, esp. with such a screwed up situation. He'd cut a new wooden slope with good pre-treated thick wood, and nailed it in, nice and solid. We were able to re-use my old metal part of threshold. The wooden slope was now sticking up an inch over my back step, which is what it is supposed to do (before, when it was sinking, water was flowing in under my storm door, over the threshold area). What a professional job! Esp. since he had to wing it and try to fix an unusual problem. Then he noticed my storm door was skewed (I hadn't noticed...but it sure was, once he pointed it out). He figured out why that was, and fixed it. Then he replaced rotten casing around my back door. Good as new! It took him several hours, longer than we both anticipated. But he did an outstanding job. It's good and solid. Now I have a back door like everyone else, without water coming in underneath! (Tip: I always get and keep ice cold water in bottles for the workmen, just in case they run out. It comes in handy, esp. when a job lasts longer than the repairman thought it would.) I will definitely use this business again. (Also, the people who arranged things over the phone were very pleasant, professional people.) The cost I put that I paid includes supplies.

I had been told that my floor was not level. He came out and put something on it and leveled it. He did a good job.

I was extremely pleased with Deshon's work. He was most courteous and polite and worked from the minute he arrived until he finished the services.. This was my first time to hire a handyman and I was so pleased that I will definitely be calling Handyman Matters again.

I was fortunately able to schedule a Saturday appointment. The appointment was schedule for 1:00 pm, but I was warned that it was possible for Chuck's morning appointment to run long. Chuck called around 12:45 to say that he was running about an hour behind, so I am glad I was prepared. Chuck set to work on my list immediately. He was very personable and efficient. Fixing the screen door went more quickly than I had expected, and I had purchased the wrong size registers for three rooms (so I'll need to install those later), so he didn't actually have a full 2 hours' worth of work to do. Definitely worth the money, though. Those items had been on To Do list for quite a while, and I finally realized that I wasn't going to do them myself. Chuck let me know about some of the other services the company provides, but he did not try to push anything on me. I will probably use them again in the future - especially if there is another "Big Deal"

Overall, they over-delivered on services and exceded expectations.

The job was done very quickly and professionally. The size and depth of lumber used originally on our house in 1973 is no longer available, and the service professional moved lumber from another area and pieced together boards around the windows in order to fix the problem and make the repair as inconspicuous as possible. He had purchased brown caulking that matched our house paint, and he used that to make the repair waterproof. The work was very inexpensive to us, since it had been purchased through an Angie's Big Deal.

He was very honest. He was very good at explaining what needed to be done. He informed me what tools to use to fix the doorknob. He was very imformative on what he was doing. He called me the night before to make sure the time was okay, and he showed up on time the next day.

I needed some handyman work done around my home, and I decided to use this company because they were offering a Big Deal through Angie's List. I set up an appointment. I browsed through their consumer guide on their website and saw that they suggest that I check the proof of insurance, liability, and bonding information of any company that I hire for any work done around my home. I asked them for this information, but the company was reluctant and mentioned that no one usually asked them for this information and that it was provided by Angies list. I let them know that I didn't want them to do work in my home until I had that information. First, the secretary told me that they don't give out that information, and then she sent me an email as well. After answering numerous questions and calling back and forth with this company, I finally received that information. The handyman that arrived to get the work done was courteous and polite. The first task was to fix the rollers on my patio door. He was having a hard time figuring out how to get the door out of the frame to replace the rollers, and finally, after 3.5 hours, he got it but not at one point he wanted to give up and when you are paying by the hour, I wanted him to continue with the job since several hours had passed at that point. He finally got the door fixed. He bothered me that he was so willing to just give up on the job and pretty much say that it just couldn't be done. When I set up the appointment, I let the secretary know of the work that I needed done, so I think they should've planned accordingly. I also wanted him to replace a ceiling fan for me. The handyman put the black box (remote transmitter) outside of the fan so that it was attached to the cap that's attatched to the bar of the ceiling fan. I was questioning the installation, since that black box was visible and detracted from the appearance of the fan. He told me that's the way it's installed. And if I did not like it that way, the only way that it would otherwise operate would be off or on. Again, the as far as the Handy Man was considered, the job was done and he was giving up. I refused to accept this and I called the manufacturer of the fan and they told me the black box should be in the ceiling. After speaking with the manufacturer, I handed the phone to the Handyman and the manufacturer had to tell the him how to install the remote transmitter. He also replaced a light fixture in my kitchen, which was quick and fine. Overall, the experience was okay, but I won't call them again. This is an update. I feel that Stacy went above board in refunding me $75.00 and a request to come back and work on some of the other things on my list, but I take umbrage with comment 'that occasionally our craftsment are presented with challenges and it appears that on this day, he was presented with 2.' Maybe since the door was a little patio door was a little older (90's). I made it very clear how old the door was and there is nothing unusual about the door as stated by the HandyMan. Regarding the the ceiling fan it, fans with remotes are the norm these days. I might consider using HandyMan Matters again but I will request that I do not have the same Handy Man or I will inquire more as to the experience level of person coming out to help.

He did a spectacular job. He gave me a really good price on the work. The company was really PROFESSIONAL. He came 15 min early and very nice work. I liked him so much i am going to have him do more work for me. Very well mannered. He didn't try to sell me on things I didn't need. He cleaned up after himself too. The project turned out perfect. It was better than I expected.

I have a metal balcony and originally they were supposed to torch those off and re-weld them. They looked at the job and told me they could do it. It became very clear that they didn't have the expertise because they didn't have the tools and that's when we reworked the scope of work the day they showed up to do the work. I thought that was a little disingenuous on their part. I was looking at what they were doing to redo the doors to caulk and shield them, it was really work anyone could do - I didn't really need an expensive painter doing it. In the garage they charged me $500 for the sheet rock repair. My bill was eight or nine hundred dollars but I finally talked them down from around thirteen hundred dollars with a little bit of fight on my part. The only thing I could measure the work on was the sheet rock in the garage which probably anyone knows how to do. They charge an arm and a leg.

He arrived a little early and went over my list. He went back to the truck to get what tools he needed and went right to work; he worked efficiently and with a great attitude. Even if I had the proper tools and the strength, it would have taken over 2 hours to complete my list. He finished in under an hour. It was $75 well spent!

Jose arrived at the appointed time and worked through until all projects were completed. His work is professional and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

I had a DIFFERENT handyman come out to install my curtain rods and they failed? horribly. My walls were a mess by the time they were gone and the curtain rods were falling off the wall 30 minutes after they were gone. The same day I saw that Angie?s List had a coupon from Handyman Matters for 2 hours of work for $75 so I figured why not? and I?m glad I did because these guys are AWESOME! The receptionist was courteous and booked me without a problem. The handyman ran early (but called first and the timing worked for me) had a positive attitude, and knew what he was doing. He was proficient and professional it only took him 1hr 10min instead of the full 2 hours. I don?t know how long it normally takes, but I had two windows and I know that there was some difficulty due to the material behind the wall being either too soft from multiple residents doing the same and softening up the walls or too hard from the structural materials behind the wall. Despite all of this, everything went without a hitch and I feel very comfortable recommending Handyman Matters to everyone and using them again.

First let me say, this is a very professional organization, and they are prompt, with fair pricing. Jobs performed: Hung the towel bars, toilet paper holders with no problem. When installing one of the robe hooks, on the back of a brand new solid wood door, he put screw went all the way through to the other side. He made every attempt to repair it i.e. patch and paint, but because the door was originally "spray" painted, his brush marks did not quite blend (to his credit he came back the next day to try and make it right, but couldn't). Also asked if he felt competent to install a new faucet set in our powder room, decorative trip lever for the toilet and supply line (flex hose) for the toilet. He was very confident he could do those jobs, but took forever and just couldn't do it because of (a) "a bad part we provided" and (b) "the way the house is built (flex hose replacement)". My lesson, don't ask a handyman to perform plumbing functions, no matter how confident they seem. To their credit the office did follow up to inquire if we were satisfied (very professional), but I was so frustrated with the experience, I didn't respond.

It was fantastic! We have worked with Deshon 3 times, and Chuck came this past time as the insulation job was a 2 man job, I would HIGHLY recommend working with either person. They are quick, efficient, so great at keeping their work clean and cleaning up after. Always in communicaiton with what is going on, what may need to be done. I feel like, even if there was a cheaper person out there, the quality of this service is worth every penny. Oh the cost, the labor was $1300 and materials were $600. The Handymen will go to Home Depot and purchase what is needed (at their hourly rate). They had already measured my attic sq. ftg. so when they came to my house at our appointed time of 9:00 am, they were already loaded up and ready to start.

Our dish washer stopped sending in water. I called Handyman Matters and left a message for them. My call was almost immediately returned and I was able to set up an appointment for the next day. My original intention was to find out if the machine could be saved. The repair person showed up on time and called just before he arrived. He was able to accurately diagnose the problem (the water valve) and recommend a dealer for the part. After purchasing the part, I decided I was not up to the job of replacing it. So I called the company again and they were able to schedule the same person to come out and do the install. He was able to do the job very quickly and we have a working dish washer again. I am very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff members of Handyman Matters. I will be using them again.
