I really liked this guy & I wish we could have worked together. The estimate was fair but the warranty was pretty poor compared to other companies I received estimates from. I had to weigh my options & this one wasn't the best at the time. I would recommend and contact Wood Doctor for future work.

James first patched chewed areas on the feet and apron of a very elaborate pool table in my home and then took with him 2 adult rockers, one child's rocker and one side chair. He did a phenomenal job of repairing the very old rocking chairs including a beautiful refinishing job with a hand-rubbed patina that will make anyone looking at the chairs doubt that they had ever been touched. The only problem was it took quite a while. Since I do not use the items daily it didn't matter. After I saw the quality of the work, I did not care at all how long it took . It was worth it.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They showed up without notifying me to pick up my furniture. The furniture I needed refinished was not even in the home at the time. It was very unprofessional. They were very nice and friendly.

Sam and his wife arrived when they said they would; he repaired the drawers (which now glide as smoothly as silk); and charged a very reasonable fee for his time and expertise. This is the second time we've used The Wood Doctor. A year and a half ago, he refinished a dining room table for me; refurbished an heirloom trunk whose finish had been damaged; and refinished my wood entry door. His work has always been superb and his word is his bond. I highly recommend him.

He was very professional and he is a nice person. He did a table top and he repaired some furniture spatches. He did exactly what he said he would and in the time he said it take.

The overall quality of all his work was excellent. What he was able to do with a ratty old painted antique trunk was nothing short of amazing.

I couldn't get a response from them after I had purchased the deal, and they never contacted me or anything.

He's very good. He was okay. I think trying to get the right shade of colors was a little bit of a job. He didn't have a shade chart. He didn't have all of the stuff that we really need to make this work properly. We had to go by the seat of our pants to try to get things done. That was the only drawback or glitch. Otherwise, the guy did good work. One time, he did the shading and I didn't like it on the test sample. I told him to put a little more brown in it or something, so he did that. He adjusted it the best he could. It would've been better if he'd had more professional material. He could do the job. There was no doubt about that. I thought the price was a little bit higher than what I expected. These were simple bookcases that I was trying to get done. He charged me $1000 for these small five-shelf units. They're not very deep and open-faced regular bookcases, such as in an office. I thought a couple of hundred dollars less would've been better. His responsiveness was nice. His punctuality was good. I would use him again but I would really have to know exactly what I want and be able to show him that. I would have to show him my own color charts, etc. I would have to be able to show him what I really want and give him the run down on that.

He was great. It turned out perfect. He's very pleasant. He's very friendly and a nice older couple.

I spoke with them on the phone and he was very nice and easy to work with. He has been very responsive and very quick at getting back to me. I am looking to have the work done in the near future.

I have a Century light oak washed breakfast table that they refinished. The first time they brought it back the 2 leaves and the table were different colors. One of the leaves was grayish and the other a light honey color. There was also border wood sections on the table that were too dark and looked totally out of place on most of the pieces of the table. So they took it back a second time and today when they brought it back the colors did match. Now the problem is there are places where the table meets the leaf that are lighter and looked like the color has been scratched off. I told them I was not happy with this and Samuel told me that to strip it down again might damage the wood veneer. Now I'm really unhappy and so they change the story and say they can take it back and make it match but I just don't think they know what they are doing so I declined to send it back. They were very prompt in trying to get the table back to me the second time but that really doesn't matter if they do not have the ability to refinish a wood table and make it look right. I would never use them again as I think they overlook obvious problems and just hope the customer will settle on a bad job.

Finish product is sturdy but the neatness of the repair leaves much to be desired.

I have called them several times and left messages but now response.

It took him 3 months to get it back to me, but it was during the holidays. He didn’t fix it all the way when he brought it back the first time, and had to come get it and re-do the work. I’m satisfied with the finished product.

Everything was great. We started this project right around Christmas, but I was in no hurry, so I told him to take his time...did a great job! I recommend the Wood Doctor!

All said and done I am satisfied. The Wood Doctor refinished a desk and credenza for me for $1100. I had gotten a second quote for $2500 so I think I got a good deal. The quality is okay, I can notice some problems with the staining. Sam is nice guy to work with. Since the price was good I would consider him in the future for smaller jobs.

It went well and the table color was matched perfectly. I would use them again.
