The Wood Doctor

Wood Doctor gave us a good price for the work. The repairs to chair arms was great. The sewing machine was repaired and refinished to look beautiful. Our dining room chairs that were re-finished were a challenge. The first attempt was too light, but the Wood Doctor redid them.

Samuel White arrived promptly after we called, made an inspection, and gave us a price that was reasonable for the work that had to be done. We agreed, and he took the table top to his shop. Within a few days he delivered the top, secured it to the base, and showed us how to care for the finished product. It was fabulous, matched the chairs, and we now have what appears to be a new table.

Dining chair - we had expected him to put in a wood dowel to secure a piece of wood that had fallen off the top of one of our dining chairs. Instead, he used some dark glue that oozed out and is still visible. The end table was stripped down and stained much darker than we asked, and returned to us with the wood very rough - no finish. They re-did it, with not much better results. Stain drips and steaks, uneven tone, etc. Same true for the teak strips on our patio furniture. Not even work, no finish, rough surface. Not what we had expected, and paid way too much for work we will have to have redone.

I sent 2 texts with photos of the job but never got a response back. I gave him a poor score because he never responded to my text after he requested the pics.

It was not the best experience. I got charged $100 more. The guy was not very responsive. It took him forever. He got one of my bar stools forever. He said he would be able to fix it. We knew it was going to be difficult. We had another company that said they really can't fix it because it's engineered wood. They put epoxy on it. But, you can see where it was marred. We could have done that ourselves. We thought he was going to finish it and be able to put the same kind of finish on it. Other than that, it doesn't look any different. It looks almost as bad as it went out the door. I wanted to see how he did on the bar stools first with the deal I got. Had he come through, he would have been over here doing all my cabinets. He was a personable guy. It was very disappointing. He led me to believe he could fix it and he couldn't. We just weren't satisfied. We would not ever use him again.

Work is beautiful and was done on time and on quoted price. Very happy with the results. The work was done at the providers facility but pick up and delivery was included.

First of all, this big deal said on-site refinishing, and that didn't happen. He came and loaded my precious chairs into the back of his truck and took them to his workshop. I was nervous about this. I bought it because it was supposed to be on-site, and I wanted to watch, but he said he doesn't do that. Why is that your big deal then!? My great grandfather made the chairs himself, and I got them when my uncle passed away. He came up to the nursery to see the wood I wanted to match, and then left. It took him forever to finish the chairs, and I had already sanded one myself! It took several weeks and I had to keep contacting him to check on them. When I got them back, the color on one was perfect, one was a little red. The one on which the color was right wasn't shiny like the other, but it didn't look purposely matte. It looked like he just forgot to seal it. Later that week, I accidentally left the window open while it was raining, and the chair dripped stain all over the new upholstery I paid $300 for!!! The finish was ruined on that arm. It was the chair that hadn't been sealed. I am going to have to pay someone else to properly redo these chairs now.

Beautiful job - a little pricey but the results were worth it.

Great service and results. They picked up and delivered the pieces back to my home. Have them working on another antique desk currently.

Product good. The table was picked up on July 3 and not returned till till Aug 7- he did tell me I had three projects ahead of me but no idea it would be a month. I emailed and called. Result was worth the wait. I guess my only point was you may need to check in if you are curious. The result was worth it.

Very nice & friendly. Obviously takes pride in his work. Tried to do everything he could to meet my expectations. Did a nice job on my furniture.

The Wood Doctor did a great job! His work is beautiful and his finished product is great. He and his wife came out and picked up all of the furniture and then delivered them when they were finished. They are very nice people who are easy to work with. I think all of my furniture turned out beautifully. His prices seem a little expensive but I think there is a lot of work involved in what he does, he works hard to give you a great finished product and he is nice to work with. All of that makes a HUGE difference to me! He is also willing to work with you if there is a problem. On some of my outdoor furniture the finish is fading and peeling a little (after about 8 months & a lot of rain) and he is more than willing to come back and help get it fixed. I highly recommend him!

I could not be more pleased with The Wood Doctor. Mr and Mrs White arrived on time as promised. Mr White carefully checked out the benches that are used on the back porch. He clearly and carefully explained to me what he would have to do to get the benches in good shape. These poor benches have been out in the rain, snow, heat and cold. The cost was explained to me and was very reasonable. Mr. White took the benches with him and returned them a few weeks later. We had already talked about the time it would take to remove the rotted wood and refinish the remaining. When my benches were returned as promised, I was very happy with what I saw. Those benches had not looked that good since the year I bought them. Mr. White explained how to care for the wood. In the future, all my refinishing work will go to The Wood Doctor. I would like to post a before and after photo but I don't see how to do that.

He did a great job...both couches were sagging and in need of repair. Very pleased.

I was blown away with the work. The guys did magic with his tools. I will get more work done from them.

Wow. Samuel does exceptional work. He had to fully sand down the original finish the remove all the gloss and then re-apply the darker color that we desired. He had some very good suggestions, was very thorough and professional. I will absolutely call Samuel next time we need anything refinished again.

The coffee table is beautiful! I was so impressed. Sam is really good to work with and I felt very honest too.

Sam White, owner, is outstanding, flexible, professional and kind. He was concerned about the fact that the post needed to be removable for my next move, but handled it with speed and excellence! I could not have been more pleased and would use him again for any wood needs!!!

He was excellent! He upholstered some 75-year-old chairs and they turned out beautifully! Everybody loves them.

re-assembled and refinished antique furniture (3 pieces). EXCELLENT job!!!

The chairs were in his possession from June - September. We were in no hurry so this wasn't a problem. Sam called to schedule delivery of the chairs in October. He delivered the chairs and left. Soon after he had left we realized the chairs had not been sanded smooth nor had the staining been done completely. The underside of one arm had not been sanded or stained. Two legs had not been sanded or completely stained. We called for him to return, pick-up the chairs and complete the job. It was at this time he told us about his medical issues and he apologized for missing the problem areas. A day later we decided after he had had the chairs 4 months and still been unable to complete the job we should not take anymore chances with this company. We have since secured another company to completely refinish the chairs (at additional cost to us of course).
