Samuel White picked up the furniture and did a beautiful job repairing it and delivered it back to me before he had promised to. I highly recommend him. He is very professional and talented.
Description of Work: He repaired the base of an old table that was broken. The leaves of the table slide under this base. He also polished the entire set of furniture.

Mr White is incredibly skilled with wood refinishing. We got the quote on Thursday, and he came Friday morning and work was done beautifully 6-7 hours later. The hardware was hand polished to the original brass perfection. Wish I could post before and after photos. The door had years and years of stain, varnish and just plain age on it. It is such a nice solid, heavy door but we hesitated painting, We did consider replacing but after realizing the astronomical cost to replace, we instead pursued Angies list for a wood re finisher. The Wood Doctor is a true craftsman- an artist in his own right. He mixes his own stain to bring out the best of the wood but one that would also compliment the surrounding brick colors. Very pleased with his skill!
Description of Work: Refinished a 31 year old solid wood front door. Mr White clearly knows his craft and knows how to bring out the best from the wood. He mixes his own stain and patiently, and steadily strips and restores the project. We are extremely pleased with the end result- and delighted with how he was able to restore the hardware to its original shine! We thought for sure that we would need to replace the door handles and house numbers- but not now! Highly recommend this craftsman.

I called The Wood Doctor, Mr. Samuel White to set up a time for him to come out and give me an estimate of the cost and the time needed for the work needed to be done. He showed up on time for the estimate and we agreed on the date, time and cost of the repair work to be done. Choosing Sam, The Wood Doctor to do my repairs was a wonderful experience. He was there at our agreed upon time and he went right to work. His Expert Experience shows in his wonderful work. When he was finished, my Antique Chinese dresser and ceder chest looked wonderful. All of the repaired work blended in with areas of the pieces that did not need repair, thereby keep their antique charm and authenticity. My Antique Dresser looks beautiful and my cedar look like it has been pamperd and procted all it's life. Sam was wery neat and clean, and he was very careful not to damage anything in my home, expecially since I had just had new hardwood flooring installed. Also when he was done with the work he cleaned all of his work areas. My overall experience with Sam and his work was EXCELLENT ! I will DEFINITELY use Sam, The Wood Doctor again. I have already referred several friends and relatives.
Description of Work: Sam, The Wood Doctor, repaired Antique Chinese Dresser which was almost destroyed by movers while being deliverd to my home. The dresser had pieces chipped off (which I saved to be put back on, ) some scratches and one of the two doors was cracked and completly ripped off the dresser along with it's hinge. He also repaired my cedar chest which has been in my family for more than three generations (and you could tell, it looked well worn) but structurally in great shape. It had several scuffs, scars, and a trim piece that had been damaged.

After reading the reviews here, I contacted Sam and one other company to get a quote on fixing our chairs. These chairs were in very bad shape after much use over the years and some of them were so bad you felt like the chair was going to break when you sat on it. Sam responded right away and said he would stop by our house around 4pm to look at the chairs and give me a price. The other company (Aaron's) never even responded to my request for a quote. I didn't think things were going to go well with Sam either after he didn't get to my house until about 6:30pm. I almost turned him away at the door, but I'm glad I didn't. Sam apologized for being late, he didn't have his cell phone with him to call me earlier and he had been driving from one side of DFW to the other to get to my house. So I decided to give Sam a chance even though first impression was that he didn't have his act together. Sam quoted me a very fair price of fixing all 5 chairs for $240. This price included him picking up the chairs to take back to his shop as well as delivery back to me when the work was finished. He told me he could complete the job in one week. Exactly one week later, Sam called me and said the chairs were ready. He knew that today, being Valentine's Day, might be busy for most people so he offered to bring the chairs to my house at 8:30pm instead of me having to wait another day or two to get my dining room back in order. He arrived right on time and all the chairs look very, very nice. He installed additional support/screws around the base of each chair and they all seem to be sturdier now then when they were brand new. He also polished them all up and the wood looks great! Sam did such a good job I threw in a $30 tip. He saved me a ton of money that I didn't want to spend to replace the chairs and I hope to get many more years out of them. If we need more wood/furniture work done around the house, I will be calling Sam again and so should you. Give him a chance.
Description of Work: Fixed 5 wooden dining room chairs, 13 years old, that were loose and falling apart.

We found Samuel on Angie's List and definitely recommend his service to others. He can restore severely damaged furniture as well as wood panels. Samuel is polite and professional and his work is top-notch. He always gets it right and can match stain perfectly!

Sam (owner of The Wood Doctor) came by and suggested that he take the table top with him. This was due to needing to go through a couple of stages of repair at his office, where he could give it some TLC. He picked up the top on Friday and anticipated it would be Monday or Tuesday (since I was not available to accept delivery on the weekend) before it would be ready. When it was delivered back to me, I had to ask Sam which corner I should be inspecting because I simply could not tell. The grooves in the design looked great, the color was blended in perfectly as well. More than anything else, Sam cares about his customers and their satisfaction. You could tell by the way he talked over the damage with me, the care he took in moving the piece, and the pride he showed when dropping it back off to me. If you have furniture that has either real or sentimental value that needs someone who cares and can do the job, I would not hesitate to contact Sam. I assure you that he will be straight with you on what to expect and will treat both you and your furniture with the utmost respect. Thank you Sam!!
Description of Work: I had a table that had been dropped on 1 end, crushing the corner. Due to the table being partially wood and partially particle board construction, plus having several grooves in the design, I thought it may be ruined. I was told that this could be repaired in a couple of steps to get the shape right and the color right. As you will see below, I was amazed at the results.

Mr. Wood and his crew came to my apartment to pick up the furniture, we discussed what needed to be done and what I wanted. The table needed to have the gouges filled and be refinished, and the four chairs need to have the screws that hold the seats redone. Despite recovering from recent surgery, my table was ready sooner than I expected and it looks wonderful. I can not tell where the gouges were, the table top is smooth and shiny and all my seats are firmly in place. Mr Wood understood what this set meant to me and treated it with love. I've had this table refinished before so I know what that costs and I think the price for the amount of work was extremely fair. I would use this service again; in fact I have a couple of projects in mind.
Description of Work: My beloved solid oak table had several small gouges from a previous move, and also water stains. The seats on the four matching chairs were loose.

Furniture was picked up in September. Explained the color of covers for chair seats that I wanted. Due to some health issues he had the furniture was not returned until November. It was worth the wait as it was evident that he handled my treasures with great care. The price was really reasonable when you consider the small pieces he had to work with as well as the style of my dinning room chairs. Put a small down on pick up with payment made in full upon delivery. He had told me that the completion of the work may be delayed due to his scheduled surgery.
Description of Work: Antique furniture repair. Dinning room chairs damaged in move. Used original pieces and fixed like new. Replaced seat covers on all six chairs as well as seat replacement on two. Had two old rockers that had boken parts, one in multiple small pieces. Was able to do a remarkable job on the one in pieces. You would never know. To make the other rocker safe for use he replaced the rockers on both legs. They look like they came with it. Had feet replaced on old love seat and it is quite sturdy. Also repaired an old child's chair that was also in poor shape and did an excellent job of making in useable. Will use him in the future for other repaira and some refinishing.

Sam was the best price, and also provides FREE pickup and delivery, which was a huge plus. He was in an accident and had to have surgery, so my night stands were a little delayed, but not a big deal. When he finished them up (old Drexel night stands that we had painted white), they looked amazing. He does great work. If you need to get a hold of him, calling him is the best method, then text, then email. Really nice guy that will make the problem right if something were to happen. Best value for the money and the service. Thank you Sam!

The pieces look new now, and beautiful! The hardware was discolored as well, and he shined them up to look like new. It was completed when he said it would be, he notified us when it was ready. He gave us great advice on the color of the stain and finished the piece to keep its historic look. He's personable, professional, and did a great job. Best of all, he was far more reasonable than any other refinisher I contacted. I will use him again.

Started good. Then he was in a car accident which delayed the finishing of my chest (which is understandable), but he did not contact me and I had to pursue him and I was affraid that I would not get my chest back. When he did bring it, it was not finished. You could see where the varnished ran down the side.

I called the wood doctor about repairing my daughter's headboard. It was a Saturday afternoon when I called. We made an appointment the following Thursday for him to come inspect the work to be done and provide an estimate. I started out having the table top stripped and refinished, but discovered he could also repair our upholstered couch. The springs had become very "saggy". We had it repaired before by another company, but the repair didn't last very long. The table top looks great and matches the legs well. The couch is also firm again, but time will tell how long it stays that way. From the description of the repairs made, I'm confident it was done right.

All of the items that Mr. White repaired and refinished for me were pieces that my grandfather made so I was extremely tentative about letting anyone work on them. Mr. White looked over the hutch pieces and we discussed a price for repair and refinishing. I had Mr. White work on the hutch first to gauge his work. I had originally wanted the hutch pieces left unfinished, but they did not look right. Mr. White was more than willingly to take them back and apply a stain. He talked with me about what I wanted and was able to guide me into picking a color of stain. I knew the surface of the hutch base would remain scarred, but those were marks that my dad and my siblings and I had made so they were memory marks and did not want them fully removed. When Mr. White brought the hutch back, I was so moved by its transformation and beauty that it brought tears to my eyes. There was no doubt that I would continue doing business with Mr. White. I was not specific about a timeframe for having him finish my items as I was not under any time constraints, but he did not take long to complete them. I found Mr. White to be knowledgeable, skilled and responsive.
Description of Work: Mr. White refinished and repaired an antique chair, cedar chest and a hutch top and bottom. Mr. White had to fix a crack in the wood in the bottom of the cedar chest, polished up the wood, applied a finish, and repaired the footings. Mr. White had to strip the many layers of paint off the chair, repair a split in the arch of the seat back and refinished it. The hutch top and base were in bad shape. My mother had painted the hutch top red and used it as extra storage shelving. My father had used the hutch base in his workshop as a base to perform all sorts of work on so it was badly scarred. Mr. White was able to strip all the red paint off, smooth out and repair, as best as he could the hutch base and stain both pieces.

I had 4 kitchen dinette chairs repaired--they needed the base structure joints to be taken apart and reglued. He did a great job. I also had a cabinet drawer that was coming apart from its face. It had been previously "repaired" by a cabinet shop on the access road to 635 and plano rd. the previous repair was not done right but THE WOOD DOCTOR did a great job. He also helped me with a water spot on my dining room table. He did not charge for the hint he gave me for getting rid of the spot, and the hint worked. We discussed different levels of repair for the table and his helpful action prevented me from spending additional $. That was very nice on his part.

Look in previous for the story of our excellent experience.
Description of Work: I called Samuel White on Tuesday, January 3. He came that afternoon to offer a free estimate. He estimated the job for hundreds less than others who had only given estimates by phone. We only wanted the top of a 36X36 table and the seats of 4 chairs. All the other bids were rediculous given the limited scope of the prodject. Mr White picked up the table and chairs that afternoon. We offered to bring him the stain to match the cabinets we had just had redone. He used our stain, but he was dissatisfied with the results so he resanded and used his own mix. Mr. White returned our table and chairs yesterday afternoon after only 7 business days (and 3 of those were waiting for us to bring the stain). The results are lovely. He is an expert in his field and I'm so glad we went with his experience. The table is beautiful and the match to our kitchen cabinets is amazing. I would happily recomment Samuel White, The Wood Doctor of Coppell, Texas, to anyone.

After debating whether or not to have our sofa repaired or replaced, we decided to have someone look at it for an estimate. Sam was very reasonable and took the sofa with him that night. We didn't expect it to be ready for a couple of days - He called us two hours later and said it was finished! We were pleasantly surprised. He had rebuilt the internal structure of the sofa and added reinforcements. The sofa was delivered to us the next morning and he had done a great job. We will definitely use him again with any future projects we may have!

Mr. White and his wife arrived exactly when they were scheduled to. He looked at the vanity and gave me a very reasonable price. He took the vanity, asked me about colors and varnish and gave me some advice. He took the piece and within a few days called me for an update. In less than 5 days he was finished. He returned exactly on schedule and the piece is truly beautiful. It is exactly the color my daughter wanted. The stain and finish are smooth and beautiful. It looks better than I ever remember. My grandfather made it, so I was concerned, but he did an outstanding job and charged me exactly what he said. He and his wife were professional and friendly. They also brought along another vanity that I am interested in for me to look at. It was also beautiful. I could not have been more pleased. In fact, I gave him another piece to refinish for me. I highly recommend Samuel White, The Wood Doctor in Coppell.
Description of Work: Mr. White picked up a vanity that has been in my family for years. It was covered with several layers of paint and varnish. He had to strip the layers and refinish. The piece was old and probably is not very good wood, so I was worried that it would not look good because of the wood quality. He stripped and stained and varnished the vanity and the stool. He also refurbished the three mirrors.
