Riverside Lawn & Landscape

Called during normal working hours on Saturday (08/17/2013), but got answering machine. Requested a call-back to schedule a time when provider could inspect the work I wanted done and to give me a quote. Did not receive a call back so called again on Tuesday (08/20/2013). Spoke to Matt, and made an appointment for him to be at my home on Thursday (08/22/2013) at 3 PM. I scheduled time off work to be there as agreed. Received a v-message from Matt on Thursday 08/22/13 at 2:40 PM asking when he could come and see the property... Called back within 15 minutes and got voice-mail again, saying I was expecting him at 3 PM and would wait for him. He never showed up nor called back. I was hoping this service provider would prove to be a good one since I have been disappointed before by providers not showing up, but unfortunately it was not to be.

They weren't actually able to do the work because they're two hours away but the gentleman I dealt with on the phone was a complete sweetheart! I wish I lived in the area so he could do my work! He was totally honest with me and apologized multiple times. I couldn't have asked for better!

Everything has gone well. Typically they are on time and responsive to inquiries. They have been late to cut some weeks and sometimes slow to return calls. No matter what they do call back and they do get the job done.

Matt took the time to listen to our concerns and provided an outline that addressed them. The quality and work performed was first rate.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it turned out fine.

Nothing has happened.

Met with their representative and was given drawings of recommended flowers, etc. for my landscaping project. Did not decide to go with his company as I felt their cost was more than I projected for the job.

Went well he was nice and to the point good design. Not high tech but likes simple drawing spend hid time on things that matter.

Provided quality trees, Crew showed up on time and job completed ahead of schedule. Matt gave us a plan we could complete in phases according to our budget and planting season. Can't wait for him to start the next phase!

Good. They did a nice job on the design and new plantings.

They did a good job with the landscape design. They were a little pricey on their bid for the work. So I ended up hiring somebody else to do the work. Otherwise it was just fine. There were no more charges beyond the big deal amount. The person that ended up doing the work made a few different suggestions on plans. I liked that better. But it's not a significant difference. I was able to find somebody for about $500 less for the same work. His response was slow but he also was upfront that he had a whole lot of work and he came as quickly as he could. He was on time when we had the appointment.

It did not go very well at all. I needed landscaping and a design. I called them and told them that I had purchased the package deal through Angie’s List and we set up the appointment for them to come out and do whatever they do. I was lead to believe that they would come out and do a design and would include a few drawings and a plan and a layout. It took me a long time to get the guy to come. Finally, he came out, we walked through it, and I told him that I had a problem with drainage. He left and several more weeks go by and I finally contacted him and he came out again, had a hand sketched drawing, and said that he was going to put some things here and some things over here. He did give me a list of the different types of plants that he would put in and marked it on the sketch. I did not feel that he had addressed my problem. I was not happy with that all, I could have done that myself. What I was thinking was going to happen, I thought he was going to give me some computer generated drawings and dimensions and an overhead view and a horizontal view. With the retainer wall and where he was going to put the plants and the drainage system. I did not get that. I paid $100 for 15 minutes. I did not have a problem paying $99 if I had gotten $99 in value. If I was to use his company, I would have gotten $99 in credit. All I got was 14 attempts to get him out here and then some Mickey mouse drawing that a 10th grader or a 5th grader could have drawn up. I want nothing to do with this guy. If he offered to come out and do it for free, I would not let him. He misrepresented his company and misrepresented Angie’s List; I do not think that he should be allowed to be on Angie’s List. He did not do what I needed. I do know what he did for me. I will never use him again.

We loved working with Matt. He did exactly what he said he would do, in the time he said he would do it for the exact price he quoted. Would use him again in a New York minute!!

Contacted provider, however it took a while to schedule appointment because I was actually out of his service area. But his men arrived on time and did an excellent job. Would use him again if I was in his service area, but he did say to call If I needed work done again and he would try to fit me in.

Company never followed up with the design plan, so the work was never started.

I felt that the whole experience was very unprofessional, when I first had communication with the company both parties were aware of the distance needed to travel out to my property. The provider was only showing concern of when the best time would be to leave to come out. After getting the appointment set up the provider waited till the night before to call and cancel since he now thought it was too far away. I had to take time off of work and re arrange my schedule to make this appointment happen just to have it not work out.

I purchased the 99.00 coupon from Riverside Landscape for landscape assessment/analysis plans.. He came out and looked at my yard in a timely manner. Did not hear further for 6 weeks or so. (I thought I should have gotten a quick email or text with approximate time.) I had told him repeatedly that the main change I wanted was the bed against my house in front. Maybe it was due to the business the coupon had generated and the time element and he just forgot, or maybe he didn't make sufficient notes, but I have 2 rows of hedges now that I wanted changed and his drawing changed the plants in back and replaced the boxwoods in front with, you guessed it, boxwoods. It really didn't matter what they were, I didn't want two rows of plants, but something softer and more modern. I think he knew I was disappointed because I really would have liked to have had an update while I am fixing up the place, so he promised to redo the plans and come back. I haven't heard further. Maybe he thought I wasn't planning to spend enough money, but I would have if he had offered me something attractive. I have had plans drawn up by landscape architects before and believe me his didn't compare. However, that really wouldn't have mattered to me if he had given me something I had asked for. Now I've spent over 4 months waiting for I don't know what, when I should have had all updating done in March when other work on my home was completed.

Found this landscaper through an Angie's list deal for $99 for a landscape layout plan. Our property is full of beds (approx. 15) so I didn't expect a plan for all beds (even though the deal had no limit as to # of areas). Received a plan for 1 bed that was not to my liking. Asked for a quote to clean out all beds and mulch and lay sod and fix drainage in front yard. Bottom line...I paid $99 for a quote. Anyway, we hired this company and they were very professional and on time however, they had some new people on the crew that removed some of my plants that were thriving. I was not pleased as I had pointed out to the owner prior to the work being done that these particular plants were to be kept. Asked the owner how the beds were to be cleaned and he said they would use a tool to clear all weeds (one that would cut below the surface). The property looked great when they were done but now (2 months later) a lot of weeds are back. I expected some to regrow but not this many. Not sure the beds were prepared properly.

Matt did a great job listening to what we wanted, meeting our budget, and completing the work in a timely manner. Would recommend to anyone in need of landscaping work!

I called Matt on Monday morning after seeing his reviews on Angie's List. He set up an appointment for Tuesday afternoon. He not only arrived on time, actually he called and said he was running ahead and wanted to know if he could come early. He was really nice and professional. I gave him my budget and he was willing to work with things I already had in my planting areas in order to keep us within my price range. I am expecting a bid next week. I will update you as things progress.

After purchasing the coupon deal, I contacted Matt at Riverside and scheduled a time for him to come out and take a look at the work I wanted done. He came on time and I showed him the area where I wanted the flower bed and we also discussed having a palm tree trimmed. He was honest with me and told me that his guys wouldn't be able to do the best job on the palm tree because it was so tall. He said he has a tree guy that he would send out to do the work. When he was at my house, he didn't write anything down or take any notes. So when he was leaving I asked if I could get a typed estimate for the work we had discussed. He told me he could email it to us in a couple of days. After a week of not hearing from him, I had to call to ask for the estimate to be emailed. I reviewed it, then called him to schedule the work. He was very vague on the phone and told me it would be a week or 2 before he could get a crew out to do the work. I let him know that I was going to be out of town, so I needed to have a scheduled day. He said he would get back with me about an exact date. Now, it has been 4 weeks since I have heard anything from them! I just called Angie's List to cancel the $249 Big Deal Coupon. I was really excited about getting the flower bed, and having someone to do the labor part for me. At this point, if I would have known this was going to be a 6 week process, I would have just done the work myself.

The original meeting went okay. I told the contractor which areas I was interested in doing some work. He offered some general comments and promised to get back to me with the design and a cost estimate. I waited almost 2 weeks before emailing to ask the status and he promised it in a few days. It took 3 more prompts from me to finally get the design and costs. The design was disappointing and not worth the $99 in my opinion. It has jaded me on Angie's List specials. Mostly this was a veiled solicitation to provide an estimate for landscaping work which is usually offered for free. I did get the hand sketch but didn't find it of much value.

Matt came out to look at our property and listened well to what our needs were. We have kids and dogs and weren't really interested in trying to start and maintain a manicured lawn. A week later, we got a plan with a detailed estimate that addressed the main concerns. Once our work was scheduled, the crew showed up exactly as planned and got right to work. They worked quickly and the amazing transformation of our dirt patch began. The trenches and pipes laid down for drainage hit all the main spots that we had talked about and a pipe was run to deliver water to our vegetable garden. The plants used in the plan are beautiful and are so far holding up well. The quantity of mulch and other materials was perfect -no bare patches but we didn't pay for anything that isn't in the garden. The biggest surprise was that Matt brought in enough mulch to re-mulch all of our existing plantings and his crew trimmed all the bushes as well. It was very nice to have that job taken care of! All members of the crew were friendly and hard working. They were very sweet with my kids who were constantly trying to "help" and had a million questions. Matt's vision for our space ended up being absolutely perfect. The ability to look at a space and figure out how to maximize its assets without breaking the budget were very much appreciated. We love our new space and look forward to working with Matt & crew again.

Great; every efficient work crew. Major project completed in a little over two day. We had to order to pavers and they delivered approximately a week later and installed. We have received a number of complements on the project and would use them again.

Haven't heard from them or seen seen since their initial visit
