Parrot Head Pool Service

Everything was better than expected.

My pool pump appeared not to be working. I called on Monday and they were out on Tuesday morning. The national company I had used in the past could not get to me until a week later... if I was available when then had time for me. Parrot Head's service man was very friendly and knowledgeable. The issue was not the equipment, but an air lock. He fixed the problem, inspected the entire setup and was on his way. Extremely pleased with the experience!

My first pool, I did not know a thing about them. Inspector did not do a very good job, because several things did not work or barely worked. I find them on Angie's List and decided to give them a try since I had what appeared to be yellow algae growing everywhere. The shock we were throwing in the pool as directed by prior home owners was not working. Tommy came out and gave estimate for pool services, said I really needed a new pump, and they would get it up and running...after several frantic calls to them (ignorance on my part) they had it clean and running nicely. They took care of replacing the basket and at my request purchased a decent "broom" so we could use it if we needed too. I also hired them to do weekly maintenance on the pool at least until I become more knowledgeable and have the time. We did find out that the chlorinator needs to be replaced because it is not working at all - so that is next on the agenda - (must be why prior owner was just throwing shock in it once a week). Anyway, they were kind and patient and have done an excellent job. As to the B for price, it may just be my shock at the cost of owning and maintaining a pool, I am new to this. I will continue to use them as my pool service for both repairs and regular maintenance.

They came while I was at work, called to tell us what was fixed, left an invoice of the services performed and we paid them with a credit card over the phone. Very easy and the pool pump was fixed.

I was so impressed I hired them to do my regular weekly service and maintenance even though they cost a bit more than the other horrible company.

Tommy is good about returning calls, and he promptly installed a high quality pool heater at a good price. But he then took more than a month to get back to me with an estimate to replace some piping and install a handrail on the stairs, which weren't urgent matters. When he finally came back with the handrail estimate, we no longer wanted it. He said they'd be out the next week for the plumbing work, but it was two weeks until the work got done. He blamed the missteps on an office move that messed with his schedule. Tommy's crew does quality work and I'll continue to use him for repairs and vacation cleaning service.

Parrot Head was able to get us up and running again very quickly. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and always offer great maintenance advice on our setup. I would highly recommend them to anyone that has pool issues they need taken care of.

Tommy answered my message 2 hours after recorded and Jeff arrived early the next morning. He checked the pump, left to get a new one and returned within the hour to complete the work. He showed me the pump, the parts that led to the problem, and the screws he had to replace. He was very informative and did not talk down to me, just shared information and maintenance tips. He took time to discuss pool care with me and gave me some good information as well as confirming things I was doing correctly. He was very positive about everything we talked about. He fixed the problem and helped me care for my pool more efficiently. There was no question too stupid for him to answer and he treated this old lady with respect and consideration. When I called back with a question, Tommy was very responsive and Jeff came by to check on the job he did. I now have a pool company for life.

Tom is very responsive, polite and professional. The work was done quicky and to our satisfaction. They quoted us repair on another pump, but when they got to the site they said it didn't need replacing, saving us money.

They were prompt, their communication was good, and he gave us some pointers on other stuff that may need to be worked on. We had some air in the system so he tightened up some valves in our system and didn't even charge us for that. They did a great job and I would use them again.

We required a new pool/spa heater. I work and could not easily be at home for the visit. I contacted them and they came over and serviced my filter system and looked at my heater which had not worked since we bought the house. They came when they said and were able to perform all the work without me needing to leave work. In addition they provided a quote for a new heater and once I accepted, it was installed 2 days later. I am in Sugar Land and they came from Spring to perform the work. I would not consider anyone else for my pool needs in the future. They are punctual and kept me informed of the work at all times.

The service provided by this company is way overrated. We had a difficulty in agreeing when they could come out (a few delays). The technician was friendly but came to our house at the end of the day, nearly two hours late and after several jobs. He was exhausted and was eager to go home (getting a phone call from his wife). When he cleaned our filters (yes they were dirty because we have many tall trees around our house) he used his pressure washer. The worked very well. Unfortunately gasoline for the washer ran out and he had to use a regular head, which did not clean well two of the 4 filters. He attempted to put the cover as soon as possible because these two filters were still dirty (there is already a sign of unclean filters in our pump pressure gauge). The technician did not spend much time (less than 10 minutes or so) inspecting the heater and said that this is an old heater and we should replace it with a new one. I am not sure how he can say that without spending more time inspecting it carefully and finding out what has to be repaired. The repair of the leaking pump was well done and after a couple of weeks it is still working. The price was reasonable. This is the third time that we 'took advantage of' so called "special". None has been good experience for us ( e.g., it is difficult to set up timely appointment, job is not well done). For example we recently signed up for special carpet cleaning deal, but despite my wife's repeated phone calls, we have not heard from the company involved. Angie's list may want to reevaluate and possibly reconsider this special deal business.

I live in Sugar Land, and they came all the way out here [I believe they are from Spring] to clean our pool filters; needless to say, that already says 'wonders'! They were prompt, courteous, educational and above all, excellent in their work. I will definitely use them every time I need pool services. I do my due diligence, yes even for pool filter cleaning, and I'm extremely happy with the time spent on this research as well! And thanks Angie's List, you take me to where I need to go for service providers.

Excellent. If I wouldn't have been told about the capacitor check, this repair would have cost double or triple for a new motor.

Told me the day they were coming but did not call before they came out. Technician reported that heater was not working because the gas was turned off on the side of the house. He stayed about 5 or 10 minutes and said the heater was working after he turned on the gas. No repairs were actually done so I cannot comment on quality of work. A few days later the heater wasn't working. The owner, Tom, came out to check it out and it worked. Tom appears to take great pride in his business and makes a concerted effort to provide good service to his customers.

Tom showed up on time and was very professional. Signed up for the monthly service and said he would check things out and call me. He was very prompt and pointed out some items that needed repair and the price was agreed on and repair done quickly and correctly. Found out later that I had a major water leak that was beyond his scope of work and he gave me the name of a company that could do the work. I appreciated the help and would recommend his service.

No problems. Everything went well. We would highly recommend this company.

I contacted Parrot Head based upon their high ratings on Angie's List. Tom Rayburn contacted me promptly & although his company is on the other side of town (about an hour away), he made it easy for me to arrange a service date that was mutually beneficial: I needed service ASAP & he was able to combine it with another service call appointment that was in the same general direction, which not only saved me some money on the trip fee, it saved the fuel & time waste of a service call to a single cross-town customer. When Mark came out to perform the service, he called in advance to give me ample notice & then arrived on time. Mark quickly & effectively cleaned & repaired my pool's filter (including the replacement of a couple of grid elements), while explaining what he was doing & why. I highly recommend Parrot Head: they are prompt, courteous, effective & efficient.

Hired this company last May after the last company would never show up or respond to our calls. Parrot head is always Clean and efficient. Always responds timely to any questions we have and makes recommendations as needed.

Tommy was honest, got the job done when he said he would and had suggestions about keeping the pool looking good. I have moved to a different city and wish I could have taken Parrot Head Pool Service with me. I immediately felt a sense of trust and knew I could count on Tommy to look out for my best interests while getting my house sold.

Moved into a new pre-owned house with a pool in bad shape and unfamiliar equipment. Tom from Parrot Head came out and spent a lot of time explaining my equipment and options. He also matched a retail promotional sale price to upgrade my complete filter unit to a better quality unit. He was very professional and informative while providing a quality service at a fair price. I intend to have him upgrade my filter unit in a few months.

I called Parrot Head because of their excellent ratings with list consumers. I was not disappointed. I received a 10% discount for belonging to Angie's List. Parts that were purchased from their truck stock were not marked up from their supplier. As a matter of fact, I saved $5 a filter grid (x 8) buying from Parrothead than if I had purchased myself from the pool store. Similar savings with other parts, none were overpriced. Be sure to take notes during pool school because nothing is in writing. They take all the time you need to explain, demonstrate and repeat procedures but there are no handouts to refer to. Make sure to understand the difference in "cups" and "scoops" when measuring DE. There was a miscommunication on that but Parrot Head made an extra trip to straighten everything out for me. (I put in too little DE). My error caused them to have to clean the filter again, but there was no extra charge. They wanted to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. They take pride in their work and in customer service. That goes a long ways in any business, but especially when dealing one-on-one with customers. Although I did not hire them for weekly maintenance service at this time (due to my budget), I am definitely calling them for all repairs and any filter pump maintenance. They will work with you to make sure you are completely satisfied and I trust them to do the job right! Honest people.

I called on Friday and Tommy came out to do the work on Tuesday. He had to make two trips to Conroe for the filter parts because the part that was in the filter was not the proper part - it had been cut down to fit. He finished on Wednesday and today Thursday the pool looks great. I appreciate the fact that he didn't try to charge me more than what he quoted even though it cost him more than expected to make the repairs.
