Parrot Head Pool Service

I was very happy with the service provied. I had to have my pool inspected since I am selling my house. They were very helpful in going through the punch list items that the buyer wanted done.

Tom and the guys at Parrot Head did a fantastic job replastering our pool. Our old plaster had cracked and was failing. We got a lot of estimates before deciding to go with Parrot Head. Tom gave a great explanation as to what the problems were with our pool and what we needed to do. He answered all of our many questions, and his estimate was among the lowest we received. We had to get new tile as part of the project, and Tom met us at the tile warehouse on a Saturday morning so that we could review many different samples and choose the one that we wanted. The warehouse was out of his way and much closer to our house than had we driven up to his offices, and this was really indicative of the type of service we received. Throughout the process, everything was carefully explained to us and every question, no matter how silly, was answered. Tom and his crew were very responsive, both in person and over the phone. After the top layer of old plaster was removed, it became clear that whoever had previously replastered the pool had done a poor job (skipped the bond coat), and all of the old plaster had to be literally jackhammered out of our pool. Even with this additional work, the project still moved quickly. Tom also worked with us on the additional cost to keep us close to our original budget. All of the work was done professionally and quickly. The workmen did a great job keeping our yard clean. Now that everything is done and the plaster has started to settle, it really looks fantastic. Tom even did the startup at no extra cost, which was different from most places that wanted to charge us several hundred additional dollars. We've had a number of questions since the work was done, and everything has been answered quickly and courteously. If we ever need work done again, we won't hesitate to call Parrot Head.

Contacted them in the Fall of 2011 after a bad experience with another pool company. Tommy came out to the house to explain to me some of the problems we were having and to give us a quote for the weekly service. It was interesting that there was a "price" for my area of town, but I did not question it. Great regular service! They call if their cleaning date will be delayed and let me know when they will be there. They leave notes on the work they do including what chemicals were added (if any). They encourage us to save their personal cell phone numbers so we can ask any questions. Then a month ago, we noticed our heater stopped working. I tried to find the problem myself but couldn't fix it, so on Monday I called and left a message for my pool cleaning person. We needed it fixed for a party that weekend, they understood and came out within a few days to repair it. It was fixed by Thursday, just in time for our party on Friday evening. A little expensive but definitely worth it to get timely quality service.

I called three pool services in anticipation of having my pool replastered. Parrot Head returned my call immediately and I had a home visit and estimate in hand before one of the other companies called me back! I was so impressed with Tommy, the owner, that I did not pursue any other estimates. Tommy did not try to up sell me anything I did not want or need. He thoroughly explained the process to me and was willing to work with some special needs I had such as daily brushing of the pool during the start up process. The work was done in a timely manner by very skilled workers, who were also courteous. Everyone I have dealt with at Parrot Head has been easy to work with. The pool looks and feels great. i am very pleased with the work done and the very reasonable price. Parrot Head is now doing my weekly pool maintenance.

They did a great job. When they arrived they found something else that needed repairing and called me for approval before fixing it. Even though they were pressed for time, everything was working before they left.

In every case, they have delivered the work on time, on budget, and with the highest quality and customer service. In the case of the re-plastering, there was a miscommunication that ended up costing the company more money to complete the job, but they didn?t pass on a single additional dime to us. I have been exceptionally pleased with their work and customer service. I have finally found a pool company that I can consistently depend for future service needs. Tommy and his crew were wonderful. From the first visit to provide an estimate until final completion of the job, we couldn't have asked for more. Communication is vital when services are being performed and we have never been more informed by a contractor. Our pool went from being in very poor condition (lots of hollow spots and cracks in the plaster) to a pool we can be proud of. Thank you, Parrot Head Pools!

We own a condominium complex within the city of Houston. Due to structural problems the City of Houston issued an order to vacate. This left the complex vacant and subject to numerous acts of vandelism. Recently the City required us to drain all standing water and have holes dug in the bottoms of the pool to allow for drainage. (all pool equipment was stolen). Parrot Pool came to the complex to review the job and then submitted a bid. The bid was a great price and having found them on Angie's list, had a great reputation. Parrot lived up to their reputation. Because there is no electricity, they were required to rent a generator to run their jack hammer. The job was successfully completed in a very timely manner. It was great working with them and I would recommend thier services to everyone. Great job!!!

They charge $150 a month. We chose them because of the ratings that they had been given on Angie's List and the fact that they were warranted and licensed. We've been really pleased with them.

I talked with the owner about a problem with my pool where I thought maybe diatomaceous earth (DE) was getting through my filter and into the pool. I could rub the walls of my pool and make the water change from crystal clear to instantly cloudy. I had replaced all of the filter panels myself just under a year ago, but I didn't know if I might have not sealed something well. So I had them come out to clean the filter and look at a couple of other things. The service man that came out was Jay. He was very knowledgeable. I watched everything that he did and asked him lots of questions to see if I had done anything wrong before. It turns out that the water cloudiness was actually paint on the pool walls coming off. I have a fiberglass pool. We could see it in the filter as well. I learned a few tricks on how to do the filter cleaning better myself next time. I also asked about several other related minor things. I really gained a lot of information just being able to freely ask questions about miscellaneous things to see if they might be a problem or what might cause that problem. Now I have some definitive answers. So I am very pleased because now I have some answers that I was never sure about before. Jay was professional, courteous, very knowledgeable and answered questions I have been wondering about for a long time.

Don't think you know what there is to know about everything (read "pools"). Do solicit and listen to professionals. Ask questions and be prepared to answer in detail. A real pro will listen and advise. A real pro won't insist you need a service call if you can do it yourself with a little education.

Tom went thru the sequence of the work from start to finish. The crew arrived and were respectful and performed exactly as Tom had said they would. The crew took pride in their work and were meticulous in clean-up and trim out of thr finish. Execellent work!

Great work. Came out to look at the pump. Thought I was going to have to replace the whole pump, but it was just a switch. Other pool companies would have switched out the pump and charged me

WONDERFUL! That's all I can say. Absolutely wonderful. We bought a house that had major pool issues to the point we were seriously considering filling it in. It was a foreclosure and the former owners came in and smashed all of the pipes and tossed the pumps (among other things) into the poo. We did everything we could to fix it with no luck. Tommy, Jay, and all the folks at Parrot Head came in and worked their magic and made it come back to life. Don't know what we would have done with out them. We enjoy having them around so much, they now do our pool maintenance on a regular basis.

was a good experience. water in pool looks better than it ever did with chlorine system. no black spots or algae even with all the rain we have gotten. much easier to maintain.

They ordered several parts and replaced them in the heater but in the end it would not function. They took the parts back and charged me nothing for the heater work even though this took them two trips. We decided to switch from Salt to direct Chlorine in the pool and that was done w/out any problems. Lastly, they replaced the motor on one of my Hayward pumps. Overall it was a very good experience - they called me back immediately after I left my initial message and then stayed in touch throughout the order/repair process.

I left a message with the owner to give me a call. He did so promptly and talked to me about what I might expect. He was courteous and pleasant and easy to talk to about the problem. Jay, the service guy, was on time and great as well. We were lucky because after Jay started up the spa a few times it worked. He said there was air in the line and it just needed to have a complete start a few times to clear it out. He showed me some tips how to by pass the tank and help save heating time. He taught me some things about how the system might work better. He was easy to talk to and I discussed other things around the pool that we would eventually call them about in the future, after it warms up a bit. It was a great experience. Parrot Head doesn't charge for the service call/estimates unless service is done. I will call them again if/when needed!

I am happy to have found & chosen Parrot on Angie's List. Service can be a crap shoot. Parrot gave me clear options with clear consequences so I could analyze the situation to make sound decisions bringing our neglected pool back to life . I was not pressured, or encouraged to do more than what was required. The owner did, however, let me know that sometimes the least expensive direction may have more expensive long-term undesirable problems. Since I don't live in Houston, nor at the location of the pool, I had to trust work was being done as agreed. From everything I could tell upon later visits, Parrot made good on every promise and executed the job competently, pleasantly, in due time. The owner takes a personal interest in his clients, coming to the house himself to make the bid, to check on progress of the repairs and remained in contact regarding work being done. He was knowledgeable, comfortable talking about the issues, and kept me informed so that I could stay "on the same page" with him during explanations and decisions. The only part of my experience that was disappointing was he is so busy that the company's billing is done all but manually, resulting in my debit card being charged when we'd agreed upon a check payment for a large down payment. That wouldn't bother me normally but the debit card had a daily limit and I was taking care of estate issues for my dad traveling 200+ miles back n forth. I could have been embarrassed & frustrated at a retail store or stranded at a gas station when the daily debit limit was used. We'd arranged to tell me it's time for a check which I could've given him right away. With the exception of that particular communication let down, most all other communications have been adequate. It is for that snafu in communication and the out dated means of billing that I rated professionalism lower than other ratings. In every other way, he is quite professional and appears to open to learning from any mistakes, always looking for ways he can improve office activities when he can devote the time. Pool service is demanding and difficult managing a team that's spread all over the city. However, he does appear to stay on top of his 'guys'. He expects them to do the job as he would. He tends to hire like minded employees. Recently, I've had to ask for more mechanical additions to enable water to be added in my absence. I was informed of the problem by a respectful call from the employee assigned to my pool's maintenance. I haven't seen the work yet. I would've liked a followup call to say the solution had been put into play. I'll report if there's a prob. I'm trying to say that I felt I could trust solving the problem of evaporation between maintenance visits to have been solved without taking advantage of me while understanding the difficultly of running an elderly parent's pool remotely. I like to communicate with most people with brief exchanges in a text. He seems to gladly use texts as well-or at least for my convenience. I've been out of commission with surgery, resulting in slow pay this fall (ironic, huh?) To his credit he's been kind and patient. I appreciate his nature very much.

Came to my rescue and fixed a pool leak quickly. Very knowledgable and trustworthy.

They diagnosed the problem and fixed it very quickly. It turned out to be a small problem with my pump and they didn't do anything more than they had to. Very honest and friendly.

We have had issues with our pool from the moment we moved into the house. We have always do the pool service ourselves, which was a big mistake considering we had never owned a pool in our lives. We were unfamiliar with how to check ph, add chemicals, clean filters, etc. The last few years have been the worst. The plaster had been slowing coming up into the water in the form of a fine powder, which has made the filters nearly impossible to clean. We had been buying our pool supplies from the nearby Warehouse Pool Supply & asked them for a list of qualified companies that could re-plaster our pool. The list contained about 15 names, that DID NOT include Parrot Head. After calling everyone on the list, we had NO ONE return our calls...yes, that's correct, NO ONE called us back! A few months earlier, we had subscribed to Angie's List & had incredible service on a great company that installed a whole new sprinkler system on our yard. Therefore, Angie's List was our next step to finding a reputable pool company. We called Tommy, & he promptly answered his phone, no voicemail! He set-up an appointment to come out for an estimate the next weekend. He was prompt & spent several hours listening to our concerns & offering a range of solutions, working with our budget & lifestyle. Within a few days he had emailed an estimate, which we accepted & he started the project the following week. His employees have all been prompt & worked diligently to complete the multiple projects in a professional & timely manner. We are now having our pool serviced and maintained weekly by Parrot Head Pool Service.

Originally, Tommy & his Parrot Head team did major repairs on our pool: moved the pool equipment, new plaster, "sand-blasted" the tiles, etc. (This review was written-up in a separate Angie's List review.) They did a GREAT job with the repairs, therefore we decided to continue with Parrot Head's weekly maintenance service. They are scheduled to always arrive on the same day, but are very accommodating to change days. We have been more than happy with Parrot Head & have already recommended the company to our neighbors.

I used Parrot Head for about 2 years for weekly cleaning and pool equipment repairs. All repairs were done expertly and I was very happy with their work and the price. Parrot head excels at this type of work. However, their weekly pool service steadily went downhill. The technician was not showing up on the agreed to date and the quality of cleaning the pool declined. I contacted them about the problem but there was no improvement in several months. Unfortunately, I cancelled them and went with another pool service company.
