Description of Work: I was cheerfully greeted on the phone and was given to Kevin. I have some waterline tile issues that need to be repaired or replaced. He explained that currently they no longer do that type of work (that could change if he finds the right people) but would give my name and # to a " guy " he has used. Kevin gave me his mobile # and asked that I give him a call back if I have not heard from the tile guy by Monday. That is a professional way to do business. You can't be all things to all people. I was in a service business for 30 years before I retired and I know what being a professional is all about. He didn't get my business this time but if I need service in the future, I'll call Parrot Head and be sure to ask for Kevin. And recommend Parrot Head to anyone I know in need of pool service in the future High marks for Kevin and the phone greeter. I mention the phone greeter because she needs to know how important that job is. First impressions start with answering the phone.

Description of Work: Parrot Head has done an excellent job in getting my pool back in shape after a string of bad pool companies. The owner has taken personal interest in getting my previously habitually dirty pool back in shape. Now, my pool looks like a resort, crystal clear, without excessive eye irritating chemicals. Just to make sure, I took a water sample to our local pool store and had it tested. Came back perfect! Which is what I expected. I also had a 13 year old pool heater replaced. Another great experience. Job was completed for under my budget, and in under 4 hours. Heater works perfectly. Highest rating!

Description of Work: We requested a pool pump repair, and we were fortunate that Mark arrived to skillfully disassemble the pump, perform several tests, and diagnose the problem. A part had to be ordered, which meant one day later, he was back and repaired it....all in 24 hours. Mark is competent and personable, able to answer questions and instill confidence.

Description of Work: Bought a home with a pool. New to pool ownership and tried to do the maintenance myself. However, I wasn't confident enough to clean the filter. Called Parrot Head after reading the reviews here on Angie's List and scheduled a pool filter cleaning the next day. The only critique I have was that I didn't know when to expect the service guy to show. I was told I'd get a call to set the time, but the service guy showed up late in the afternoon. Luckily, I work from home so this wasn't a problem. I wanted to use this opportunity to learn how to clean the filter myself, and expressed that. The service guy was very accommodating. He answered all my questions and showed me what to do. He gave me a pool school on my equipment, showing me what each item did. He went the extra mile and showed me how to vacuum my pool. He even went into the pool to inspect my plaster because I had some dark spots that weren't coming off with brushing and determined they were calcium spots and advised what I needed to do after doing a calcium level test. Finally, I had pool lights that kept tripping the GFCI and asked if he could look at it. He inspected the lights and found one to be faulty and needed replacement. He provided a quote for the light replacement. As a short-term fix he asked if I wanted to have the faulty light wire removed from the switch so the GFCI doesn't trip, this would at least have my other light working. I said yes, and he made that fix and didn't even charge me. In total I paid for a filter cleaning and some filter parts that needed replacing, but got way more in one-on-one pool owner education and some extra services. Plus, I got 10% off the parts for being an Angie's List member. I definitely feel I got a great value from the service. Ask for Mark, if you're in a similar situation like me, a newbie to pools and trying to do the maintenance myself, he's awesome and will answer all your questions and then some.
