Sharp Refinishing

It was a pleasure to have Jim in the house. He went to work at once, and installed an exhaust fan to take the fumes from the bathroom. The door was closed at all times, and we never noticed fumes. He covered every surface and wall with paper before beginning to work. After stripping and spraying, he departed for the day, leaving the exhaust fan running. He returned the next day to remove all the covering. He cleaned the bathroom and floor. He warned us that the tub would be slightly more slippery than before. The bathtub sparkles, we are very happy.

From the first contact with Jim and Debbie Sharp, we felt very comfortable with our selection of Sharp Refinishing for our project. Both of them were very prompt with responses and courteous, making suggestions as we requested. Jim showed up promptly to give the estimate and told us what we needed to do prior to his refinishing. We thought that we wanted him to apply the same resurfacing material to the backsplash but he recommended another avenue that actually utilized another contractor. By suggesting this alternative, Jim actually reduced his potential revenue from our project but we appreciated his suggestion and are very pleased with the outcome. Jim spent a great deal of time in preparation, making sure that everything that could possibly be affected was either covered or removed. As the job progressed, he would evaluate after each application and discuss with us if we should make slight color variations. His expertise is tremendous and the outcome was even better than we had anticipated. Once completed, actually ahead of schedule, he was as meticulous with his clean up as he was the preparation. We have already discussed future projects with him. we would most definitely recommend Sharp Refinishing for any refinsih/resurfacing projects.

From the first email to Debbie Sharp, the whole process was so professional. She responded within a day. She answered all my questions and scheduled an appointment the following week for her husband Jim to come to my home to give me a quote. She called the night before to confirm the appointment, and he called the next day when he was running a little late. Jim is also very personable and professional. He brought samples of the various choices and also let me know that he could customize the colors somewhat to match what we already had. His suggestions were very helpful. The next day Debbie emailed me the quotes. As I had requested, the vanities, tub and surrounds were quoted separately so I could decide what I wanted done. I emailed Debbie back when I had decided, and we agreed on a date to begin the work after the Holidays. She called the week before to confirm. I had asked Jim to suggest a plumber to remove the garden tub drain, and that was done the day before the work started. The first day Jim and his helper very carefully taped off everythng in both bathrooms that would not be refinished, and made sure the fumes would be vented outside with a fan and tubing they set up. In the next few days they sprayed the various vanities the tub surround and the tub. The job took longer than the 3 days that had been estimated, partly because I had not told the plumber I was replacing the tub and sink faucets, and partly because the plumber miscalculated the length of the tub drain, cut it too short and a new part had to be ordered. Not Jim's fault at all, and he made sure we could use one of our showers until they finished. The completed project looks fabulous, the cost matched the quote, and we highly recommend Sharp Refinishing.

I found Sharp Refinishing on Angie's List. I emailed them from the Angie's List website and Debbie Sharp responded to me in about an hour. I should note that the time I emailed was about 10PM. Through email communication I described what I needed done and sent her photos of the tubs. Debbie gave me a firm price for the refinishing, any extra repair work that would be required, and a follow-up visit to remove paper and install new overflow and drains. She was great. We went back and forth several times with questions and prompt answers. I scheduled the refinishing work via email. You must be patient to schedule Sharp Refinishing. They are very busy. Each tub refinish is quite an involved process and Jim Sharp is the man who does the work. It is much more complicated than you might imagine. Debbie asked us to remove the drains and make sure they could easily be removed before Jim came to do the job. Jim is not a plumber, and if the drain doesn't come out, then you have to deal with that. In fact, even though we have a 16 year old house, the drain in one tub disintegrated. My plumber was able to get the drain out without any problem. Jim Sharp and his assistant arrived exactly when he said he would. He explained everything they would do in detail and walked through the job with me. Then they got to work. The prep for this type of work takes a lot of effort. There was not a single drop of anything anywhere it did not belong. I have never seen such meticulous work. Our tubs were really cheap steel tubs and the finish had simply worn away over time. Now they look brand new. The spray products Jim uses do have a strong odor. We kept windows open overnight and did not sleep children in the adjacent rooms that night. The next day Jim came and took away all of the paper. He then placed absolutely perfect caulk lines on the tub surrounds. The tubs are beautiful (as tubs go!). Brilliant white. Debbie sent me a note containing cleaning suggestions. It is very important to NOT use abrasive cleaners on your new tub surfaces. It is also essential to not leave bottles of shampoo and wet washcloths on the surface as this may cause bubbling. I have followed their instructions to the letter and have had no issues. We were doing work in other areas of the house and one of the installers chipped my Jacuzzi tub on the upper rim. It was small, but it was really bugging me because we had just fixed everything up. Jim Sharp filled the chip and airbrushed it. I can't even tell where the damage used to be. He's a master. Do not hesitate to have him repair an acrylic tub. On top of Jim's superb work, and his wife, Debbie's superb customer service, they are just such lovely people you feel like having them over for dinner. I don't have any more bathtubs to fix, but if I did I would use Sharp Refinishing in a heartbeat.

It was real hard to get an appointment because they were so busy. They were excellent and I would absolutely recommend them. I would definitely use them again.

Excellent! The work was done very well and I was very comfortable with him working in our home for 4 days. We had very bad weather (snow and ice) and he still made it over to work. He made an extra effort to keep the fumes from the material he used out of the part of our house that was not being resurfaced. We are very pleased with his work.

Jim on site (and his wife/office mgr) on the phone were courteous, timely, attentive to detail. Price was reasonable (matched estimate) and certainly much more cost-effective that replacing any of those fixtures.

I could never get the bathtub to look clean. After 60 years of use, it looked dingy and dirty. I didn't enjoy using it and chose to take showers in my smaller bathroom instead and I was definitely embarrassed when I had overnight company. I checked Angie's List and found Sharp Refinishing. They had outstanding reviews. When I called them the first availability was 3 months later but I felt they were the best choice and was worth waiting for them. They even recommended someone that they trained if I needed the work done sooner. They called a week before to reconfirm the appointment. When Jim came out, he covered the floors leading to the bathroom, brought in fans to use in a window to draw the fumes outside, and covered all the surfaces in the bathroom. Spent the entire day refinishing the tub. I chose to have him come out the next day to put the drain back in, caulk and remove all the paper. Caulking work was great and well worth it. The bathtub looks brand new. It is so beautiful.

The work was done 6 weeks ahead of the original starting date to satisfy our schedule. I think the tub looks better than new. I had trouble removing the old drain but Jim was able to do so and installed a new one. Jim wore protective covering on his shoes to protect our floors and he cleaned up after the job was complete. The work was done on time in a professional and courteous manner. I would recommend Sharp Refinishing to anyone.

This was an excellent service experience. I contacted Sharp Refinishing via email, and I was called within 24 hours. The phone call was handled by Jim Sharp's wife and was a pleasant conversation. After reviewing the work requirements and the price, I set up a date for the service. Because of my personal travels, the date was set for 5 weeks after our conversation. On the appointment date, Jim arrived within 15 minutes of our scheduled time, calling to let me know he was running a little late due to a weather-related traffic tie-up. He immediately reviewed what was needed and got to work. He vented the fumes to the outside with a fan and hose; there were still some fumes present because the bathroom window would not open ( dried paint). He made a point of checking with me to be sure I wasn't being overwhelmed by the fumes. He cleaned the area before leaving. Jim returned the next day to do the final touches and to add the new drain. Due to my schedule, he agreed to come in the early afternoon, A morning service call caused him to be an hour late, but he called twice to let me know what was happening and to update me on when he would arrive. He completed the final touches, added the drain, and cleaned up in under an hour. Jim maintained a pleasant and professional attitude through the entire experience. The bathtub looks like it is new. It is in my guest bathroom, and friends and relatives who frequently stay at my home have been amazed at the look and performance.

Jim brought his samples and pictures to us and explained how his work would be performed. We settled on and Ivory finish for the counter tops. I Removed the old fixtures and drains the night before Jim was to come. (If you are not a DIY, you might want a plumber for this part).He was punctual and very professional throughout his work. He did an outstanding job on repairing the chipped place on the tub as it is virtually un-noticeable. I had been a little concerned about how durable this new surface might be, but well after 6 months the countertops still shine. It saved money by not having to upgrade to stone and it allowed me to remodel without having to spend a fortune. All in all it was a good experience.

Professional, punctual, clean-cut, clean workspace, very communicative and responsive. Taped up the entire bathroom, refinished tub, provided air fan to exhaust fumes to the outside, left a very clean work area. Returned promptly the next day to finish up re-caulking the tub and cleaned the rest of the bathroom.

With painting/refinishing there are fumes. Jim came prepared and worked hard employing vents with filters to minimize the effect. His work was neat, clean and the prep job he did was amazing. Thank you to his bride Debbie, she was extremely helpful in the beginning which made the entire process surprise free. That is what I like best when I spend money on my house!

He entered, did the most professional taping job and covered everything that needed to be covered, and even taped up the towel rack and top of the tile that we were going to take out anyway. Very professional and friendly between spraying on coats of paint. He gave me an update and even suggested what I could do to fix up the rest of the bath. He did a 100% perfect clean up job, sliced the tape just right which peeled off without a hitch (I was afraid of that part, but he sliced it before he left, and made it peel off perfectly). I have been through a couple of really crappy remodeling people lately, and Mr. Sharp was someone who was professional and put my faith back into the remodeling industry! We will call him with no hesitation if we ever need anything from his skill set.

Jim refinished my bathrooms earlier this year. I liked the finished product so much I had him come again to do the kitchen countertops, which he had given me an estimate for when he did the bathrooms. The counters were a laminate butcher block type and now are a beautiful multi-specked surface. The entire job was done over four days, and started and finished right on time. Jim is very professional and thorough and detailed in his work. He did a great job and a great clean up. The result is even better than I expected.

The owner?s name is Jim Sharp, and he is very nice. He does tubs, sinks, appliances, and chip repair. He has done numerous jobs for us, and has always been excellent.

Around Feb or March 2009 I called Sharp Refinishing and talked with Debbie about refinishing our cultured marble tub. Debbie was very helpful and friendly. Her husband Jim came over that night and measured and gave us an estimate. He offer many suggestions on different things we could do in our bathroom. Jim suggested that we tile the side of the tub and make a tile border around our window. His brother has a Tiling business -- we ended up using him for all the tile work in our Master Bath. I went to their home a few days later to see there kitchen counter and bathroom tub and counter that they had refinished. They let me take home a book of multi spec samples -- so I could make up my mind. Jim said that I needed to have all my other work done before he did the refinishing. After we had all the tile work done and the bathroom wallpaper - I called to see the book of samples again to make sure I picked out the right sample. On June 8th he came out to refinish the tub and our 2 countertops. The tub and one countertop had some damage that needed to be fixed. There was some smell, but they set up some fans to vent the odor and I opened some windows. They left the fans there to run a hour or so after they left until the odor left. It took 4 days to finish -- 1 extra day because one sink had a bad spot. So Jim sprayed both sinks another time to correct. All of my questions were answered and Jim offered tips regarding the care of the tub and coutertops. I really like the multi speck. It is my favorite and it is easy to clean. When I started to summit this report to Angie?s List about my service with Sharp Refinishing I noticed they had a 10% coupon. I didn?t get 10% off. When I had been on the site earlier this year I didn?t remember seeing the coupon. I had told Debbie that I had seen them on Angie?s List when I went to there home. But they didn?t tell me about a discount. I didn't ask to see if there was any discount either. I called Debbie June 23rd and asked about the discount and she said she would send me a check in the mail. I thought that was very fair. I would definitely use them again Jim and Debbie are very polite and friendly people.

Jim was there when he said he would be and ready to start work. Both Jim and his assistant Jerry were very professional and cleaned up after. They did an excellent job and the bathrooms look great. It took several days to complete the project and they worked hard and late to finish. There was some smell, but they set up a fan to vent the odor and left it with me during the job. Jim answered all my questions and was very helpful giving advice on the care of the items. He gave me advice on replacement fixtures I was purchasing and saved me some money there. I was impressed by Jim's attention to detail and the work is beautiful. It came out even better than I expected and my bathrooms look brand new.

The service and professionalism was outstanding from the initial phone call to set up the appointment to the job completion. Jim and Jerry arrived as scheduled and went right to work taping the edges of the sink before continuing with the repairing, cleaning, and refinishing. There were a couple of dents in the porcelain that were filled in after the entire sink was cleaned several times. Jim recommended that he put a special coating on the bottom to give it a rougher surface to prevent the possibility of slippage. This was done at no addditional cost. Then the refinishing was done and numerous protective coats were applied, followed by numerous coats of sealant and polish. The entire task took over four hours which was longer and more involved than I imagined. Looks like a new sink at a fraction of the cost for a new one to be installed. Jerry suggested that the sink not be used until the next morning to insure that everything dried and set to a hard finish. Overall, a very excellent job and well worth the money.

Jim arrived on time and started the work right away. He set up several large box fans with filters attached to catch any dust or spray. He worked very hard to fill in and sand damaged areas in the tub. Once he was ready to spray, he carefully covered surfaces which might have been affected by any spray in the air. It took several hours to complete all of the work, but once it was done, the tub looked like it was new. There was some odor related to the spray, so Jim left a fan, which I used to vent the odor through a window. By the time Jim returned the next day to remove the protective paper, install the new drain and re-caulk the tub, the odor was completely gone. Jim answered all of my questions and offered tips regarding the care of the tub. He helped me locate the type of replacement drain I should purchase, by phoning local plumbing supply companies to explain what he needed. He was very helpful and informative about the whole process.
