J R'S CUSTOM DECKS

JR was very responsive to my calls and questions. He offered me the chance to take a look at work he was performing in our area to get an idea of the workmanship and materials. His crew was very efficient and did a great job, they cleaned up and removed the existing patio railing. Even though the holidays were approaching he fit our job in and completed it in 3 days. I appreciated JR communicating frequently with me even on the small details.

JR met with me at the appointed time. He was punctual, professional and very knowledgeable. He provided me within a week a written estimate and drawing suitable to present to the HOA where I live. After HOA approval and notification to JR, he scheduled the installation. About five men arrived on time to complete the work. The assembled the footings and support structures on the first day, and they completed the decking, steps and rails on the second day. The job is very profressional, looks very custom built for the area in which it is installed. The crews saved two large oak trees and incorporated them into the deck, which is exactly what I wanted them to do. All finish work was beautifully executed, and I have had many compliments on the quality of JR's work. I am so very pleased I chose this company. Their price, execution and punctuality were outstanding. I would highly recommend them without reservation to any one seeking a professional deck installation.

JR's people all arrived when promised for all operations. His folks demolished the old deck. The new deck is of cedar wood with railing all around. They built stairs in 3 places off the deck. The area between the support posts of the railing have tubular anodized balusters. We did that with JR's advice and it looks super. They had to put the deck supporting posts in concrete in many places. The old deck was not built with enough support which explained in part its early demise. The roof covers about 22 feet of a 50 foot deck. We wanted an area out of the hot South Texas sun and the occasional rains in order to maximize the usage of the deck. The deck even has cedar skirting all around to set it off. We are so pleased with the results and we recommended JR to our neighbor for a similar project. JR and his crew were always courteous and scheduled all operations to coincide with our schedules.When JR said someone would be there for a particular operation at a specific time they were spot on! The folks who picked up all of the trash were prompt and left the area clean. JR and his crew were very thorough with their work and they paid attention to all of the details including a cutout for a large tree near the new roof section. I highly recommend JR and his crew for any construction work around the home. When we have another project of this magnitude we intend to automatically call JR to take care of business. We feel very fortunate to have selected JR for our major project!

It went great. JR is very prompt, professional, and does good work. The pergola looks great. I have a future project in the next few years and I will go with his company. The project was completed quickly.

J.R. did an excellent job creating a deck that fit with my backyard. J.R. was prompt in his response to my needs. He was always on time and did exactly what he promised. I love the deck and arbor and I have received many compliments from neighbors on a job well done. He is an excellent communicator and I have referred him to many of my friends. The crew started work on 9/9/14 with a start up demolition of the old decks. They appeared at the time promised and worked consistently throughout the project. Just as the large deck flooring was nearing completion, JR noticed 3 planks that were not consistent in color. He ordered more to insure top quality on the project. I had wondered if he would use the old deck supports and/or some of the sound fence support posts. No, this was a completely new installation of decks and fence. One of the fence support posts was so sound that the crew could not get it out of the ground. Hence they had to cut it to the ground level to allow installation of a new post. We are very pleased with our new decks and fence. He hauled away the demolished materials and the crew cleaned up before leaving the last day, which was 9/16/14. I can totally agree with JR's rating on Angie's list and would recommend him for any deck, roof, fence or other work.

.JR responded immediately by e-mail to my Angie's List inquiry. We made an appointment for him to come to my house to measure and get information about what I wanted. He arrived on time, took measurements, e-mailed a detailed drawing, a list of what he planned to do, and a firm price quote. i e-mailed back my acceptance. He came to my house the next day {again on time} with a contract for my signature. Materials delivered, work started the next day, Wednesday. Thursday afternoon the job was finished, old deck hauled away, area cleaned, JR inspected the job, and I paid the bill-the exact amount he quoted. I had been hesitant about hiring someone to do the deck job because of bad experiences in the past. Several people suggested Angie's List, so I decided to give it a try. I chose JR, the highest rated builder in my area and I couldn't have made a better choice. He is very professional, a pleasant man to work with, his crew efficient. I couldn't ask for a better deck building experience. I will recommend JR and Angie's List to everyone.

We called three deck builders for estimates on our deck. Two names we got at the Home and Garden Show, and the third, J.R.'S Custom Decks, we got from Angie's List. All three companies came out, designed a plan, and quoted an estimate. All three were within $1,000.00 of each other. We chose J.R. because we liked his promptness in getting our quote and we couldn't ignore the fact that he had an excellent rating with Angie's List. We were told it would be two weeks before they could start and it would take a couple of days to tear down the old deck and a week to build the new. Workers showed up between 8:30 and 9:00 each day and worked diligently until 5:00. We were impressed with the work ethic, the politeness, the neatness, and the quality of work we were receiving. These guys took a short lunch break and possibly a short break during the day, but there was little idle time. J.R. showed up daily to inspect the work, talk with his foreman, and answer any of our questions. We particularly liked J.R. because he is very business-like, no nonsense, and does exactly what he says he will do. As promised, our deck was finished in a week and we love it. J.R. recommended a stain guy, Jose Perez, and he, too, did a neat and excellent job of staining. I recommended J.R. Decks to my neighbor, who is also pleased. I definitely will only use J.R. Decks for any decking issues or plans we may have in the future.

After calling JR, he came out and gave us an estimate. He took measurements and then gave us a drawing with the materials he was using and the specs for the arbor. We had gotten 5 different estimates and JR was by far the best price and the best materials. He was polite, considerate, and took care of getting the building permit for us. He kept us informed of the status of the permit and the morning he received the permit, he had his crew at our house within the hour. The crew was extremely nice and worked very efficiently. The job site was clean and neat when they left. The job was finished that day and was beautiful. I can't say enough good things about this company. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. The price is great and the quality is even better!

The work was programed and remained on schedule, with one exception, weather. we got rained out one day. All the old deck material was removed, each area underpinnings were evaluated and where leveling was required, new supports were installed. This operation did indeed provide for a few surprises and additional material was required. The talents of the assigned team and the cooperation between them added to getting the job accomplished on time and with no repeat construction. Daily clean up was accomplished and even with the completion of the job our own recovery was easy. The wife reported very few plants in distress and a few nails which were missed. All in all the performance of the team and the visitation of the head man was commendable and outstanding. This is a company which delivers what they promise and keeps the client informed with a good ear. I would call them again and recommend their services to all.

He took out our exisiting deck and replaced it with a new one. He did a very good job and was very efficient.

Our deck was a builder grade deck; bad railings which were out of spec, balusters that obstructed the views of our backyard, and an improperly installed staircase which were literally falling apart. JR and his crew came out, arriving to the job early, and tackled the job promptly and professionally. They replaced our railings and balusters which completely opened the view to our backyard. It's very nice now. They also tore down our old staircase and replaced them. Our stairs, which were installed improperly and were not safe, were falling apart due to years of use and misuse. They even made the steps a little wider for me to accommodate my big feet and I couldn't be happier, especially because they are now safe. They are a great crew and we highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their deck.

J.R.'s and crew long history of experience was most evident by the quality of the finished product. It was accomplished in a timely manner. It was a pleasure to deal with a provider who performed as promised with no complications of any kind. Even the cleanup was perfect. I joined Angie's List looking for the best provider for the service needed. Being burned by contractors in the past it was crucial to find a reputable contractor who could install decking around an in ground pool. The pool is kidney shaped and the concrete around the pool was curved in the same shape. Of course it also had electrical, PVC, and ground wiring that was a foot beyond the pool under ground and could be struck if hit with a post hole digger when installing decking if not precise, so finding the perfect contractor was crucial. To top it off, we had flooding in some areas and erosion in others. It was a big job to take on as the ground was unlevel from many years of washouts! I came across JR's Custom Decks website on Angie's List, reviewed his website, ratings and others comments. We were impressed. We called that evening and Mr. Reyna answered the initial call and others that followed. He came out the next day, reviewed the landscape and made us feel confident that he could take on this massive project. Within a couple of days he had a drawing and quote which we reviewed. The price was very competitive and we were pleased. We pulled the plans for the pool and located all the piping and the job was underway. Within 2 weeks we now have a beautiful 1200 square foot deck, stairs, a ramp for our pets, railings with balusters, a 32 foot pergola which provides much needed shade, precise cuts around the pool and existing palm trees. The crew was upbeat, patient, and answered any concerns we may have had as the decking was being built and left us feeling secure that the job was being done right. I must say, you can walk on this deck and it is solid! We loved the experience and would definitely recommend JR Custom Decks to our friends and family. He provided outstanding service and gave our family exactly what we wanted! A+++ Rating!!

It went very well. We are pleased with the resuklts and dealing with JR. About a month later we noticed that on board on the arbor had split. JR came out and promptly replaced the board himself. We highly recommend JR Custon Decks. It was a pleasure working with JR and with his crew.

I contacted JR. He called to make an appointment.We decided on a date that he would come to give an estimate. JR came , took all measurements, we discused plans for the deck. He gave his opinion, and I gave mine.He then said he would get back to me with the plan of the deck and price. That same night he called and said he had e mailed me the estimate. I looked it over and called back JR letting him know I accepted his proposal and wanted the deck built.He said he was busy and would get back with me in about a week to schedule a date.In about a week he called, we agreed on a date and he said it would take about to 3 days.It did take 3 days, as we had 1 rain day in between. I am pleased with the deck. It added great beauty to the back yard. I also had JR and his crew rebuild a gate that was not closing.His crew was punctual, friendly and worked consistently through out the day. They did not clean up every day which was ok by me), however they did clean up nicely the last day.J also transferred a rosebush from one spot to another.I would use JR in the future if needed.All and all a beautiful job was done. I would recommend JR to neighbors and friends. On a final note JR recommended a guy to stain the deck. e also did a great job.

Our current deck needed a complete replacement. JR assisted us by showing us how to use the existing space but opening up the deck to look larger and placing additional steps to appear more open. The work was started and completed on time and was very professional. His workers were efficient, did not play loud music nor were boisterous in a way that would bother neighbors. They cleaned the work area each evening and produced a beautiful, open and relaxing outside living area in our existing deck space. We are so pleased and would recommend JR's Custom Decks to anyone needing to replace an existing deck or to build a new deck. You couldn't go wrong!

Called JR in the morning and he called back a few hours later. We made an appointment to meet the next morning AT 9am and he was on time. We showed him our deck and discussed what we had in mind and he listened and called us back the next evening with an estimate. In the meantime we had had a change of heart and he came out again to give us a new estimate based on the changes we wanted to make, he called us the next evening and gave us another price quote. Well needless to say (and I will blame it on my husband) we had another change of heart and he once again came out and listened to our additional request. When we were all finally on the same page, he gave us what turned out to be our final quote (mercifully JR has the patience of a saint). Work started on a Monday and was completed on Friday of the same week. JR, Mike, Mario, and the rest of the crew were very professional and cleaned up the area each day before they left, these men take pride in their work and it shows in the quality of their product.our new deck is 23 ft long and 16 ft deep at it's widest point coming out our back door. It now has as solid a foundation as our home and is a 100% improvement from what was there from the previous owners of the house. We will easily recommend JR Custom Decks to anyone who ask (and probably even those who don't ask). We are so proud of this beautiful deck and pat ourselves on the back fror making such a wise choice, but in actuality we cosider ourselves extremely fortunate that there are still people like JR aroud who take pride in their work and product. You would be doing youself a favor hiring these very capable and competent people.

It went fantastically! The contractor was intimately involved in all aspects of the preliminary coordination. Always answered our telephone calls and e-mails. He provided a quote and a diagram of the proposed deck. He was true to the deck diagram and and the quote he provided. His comment was that the price would not change unless I decided to add to the diagram. His team was punctual, skilled, and very professional. They took great care to ensure minimum disturbance to the yard. Work was started on time and finished ahead of time. We could not be more pleased with the craftsmanship that went into our new composite deck! Highly recommend JR's Custom Decks!

The work was done very professionally. Everyone in the neighborhood has been impressed.

We contacted JR to have our existing deck replaced, we had never been very happy with the original deck or design as it came with the house when we purchased it. We decided after 7 years to have it replaced with a cedar deck. We wanted the deck to be larger than the original and when JR came out to give us an estimate he understood immediately what we wanted and had envisioned, he explained that the original cover over the deck did not need to be replaced and was in good condition, they used cedar around the post of the original. JR did a drawing of the cedar deck and after reviewing and clearing up any questions we agreed that this was what we wanted and the tear down/construction began. The tear down of the original deck only took half the day and it was piled neatly and clean up was done by the crew after everyday they were here, we have dogs and they were careful to not leave any nails laying around. The crew was very professional and they did an excellent job, there was always a supervisor on site and he was very courteous and resolved very quickly any issues or questions we had. We are very pleased with our new deck and it looks great, as our neighbors have made comments to how wonderful it looks. The fact that it has a lot more area than the old deck is a huge plus as we like to do entertaining with family and friends throughout the year. I would highly recommend this contractor, he's honest, professional and does high quality work as does his crew. He recommended a contractor to do the stain and we were pleased with that as well. It looks great!!!

He came out one evening to get information and provide a quote. He e-mailed me by the time he got home with full amounts and pictures of a similar job he had completed. I accepted his offer and he brought a full, professional crew on Monday morning to start the job. They were completely finished including haul off by three o'clock Tuesday. The deck is absolutely gorgeous and he was so professional. He even helped me with a late notice sprinkler repair man that moved a couple of heads for me so they didn't get damaged in the process. Thank you JR - I know who is the right guy to go to for deck work in my area! It is better than I imagined!

I’m glad I called JR. He responded immediately to my first inquiry and that set the tone for how he does business---no games, no time wasted. JR just gets in and gets it done right. He was well-organized and his workers worked skillfully and quickly. My deck is built around an Endless Pool that’s halfway above ground. Because of the way it’s situated, the support structure was more complicated to build. JR had to get creative and took extra care to build a sturdy foundation. He created a practical design that made perfect sense. He even built invisible hatches into the deck floor that allow me to easily access the pool machinery under the deck. And a storage cubby! I’d interviewed several other contractors before. Some were too chatty, others threw out a price that seemed hasty.
