J R'S CUSTOM DECKS

Working with JR was a simple, no nonsense and professional experience from start to finish. We wanted some kind of shade for our uncovered patio. JR came over, listened to what we were looking for, and came up with some options and a plan. JR‘s quote was right in line with, or less expensive than other quotes we had received. We ended up going with an approximately 30x12 cedar arbor. Once we settled on a day to get the arbor installed, JR and his crew came over on the scheduled day, and was on time. He and his crew were very professional and friendly, and they were very efficient. What I thought would be a multi day job was completed in one day. As for the results, the arbor is beautiful. It really does provide significant shade. It is as if we have a covered patio, but with the benefit of having air circulate more freely. We love our arbor and highly recommend JR for any arbor, deck, or other wood work job. He does excellent, professional work at a fair price.

JR and his staff was very efficient and professional throughout the entire process. JR helped us design an outdoor space that met our needs. When I made a late change to the design, he was able to accommodate my request with no problem. The job was finished on time with no issues. I am very pleased with the new space will definitely use him again and recommend him to my friends.

J.R. was very accommodating in scheduling a convenient time to meet and discuss what we wanted done. Our existing wooden deck was small and original to when the house was built. We wanted to replace it with a larger composite deck and J.R. was very helpful with showing us samples and answering our questions. Once he was able to get the approval to start construction from UC, his crew demolished the old deck, hauled the debris away, and constructed the new composite deck within two days. (They had to take a day off for the UC Inspector to approve the framing and footers). They are excellent craftsmen who turn out very high quality work. I would definitely use them again!

J.R. responded promptly to my request for an estimate and was able to meet me at a convenient time. He gave me an itemized bid for the demo cost and prices for a couple of different options for the new deck, including the Trex. He also provided a sketch with dimensions and took care of getting the building permit. He kept me updated throughout the project and responded quickly to my questions. He and his crew are excellent craftsmen. They built a beautiful new deck on a super sturdy frame within about a week, including hauling away all the debris from the old deck. Very high quality work, reliable, and great communication.

JR was courteous, patient and on-time every day. His crew was clean and put up with us peeking out the window every hour to see the progress! His deck was almost half the price of the other estimates we received and the deck isn’t lacking quality. We will recommend JR for anyone that wants to get a deck!

We are so pleased with our new outdoor living space! J.R. listened to our ideas, gave his input, and built just what we wanted. His crew was very professional, on time, and did quality work. He even had a followup crew to come to the site and haul away all the trash. J.R. always responded to our questions in a timely manner. No money was due until he was sure he were satisfied with the work. We would definitely hire him again.

Great...JR was very easy to work with and made sure the correct amount of materials was ordered so there was minimal waste. Workmen were always on time and were very professional. Some of the fencing delivered was not the best., but the workmen identified any wood that was not up to their standards and had it picked up and replaced. JR let me order some of the materials from Lowe's where I got a 10% military discount and saved a lot of money. I got other bids but JR was much lower. I would use them again and highly recommend them to anyone else needing deck or fencing work. I was very satisfied.

Oct., 2017 JR gave us an accurate estimate. The cost was competitive with other bids. The quality of the work is excellent. JR has two main workers who did the work. They are good. They removed the old deck and carefully installed the new composite deck, attached to the house. They were on time, and finished as scheduled. The clean-up was thorough. I recommend JR and his crew. Our only regret is that we did not do this sooner.

They did an excellent job. They finished in less than two days, and it turned out to be very well constructed and very good-looking. When one of the doors began sticking a few days after they finished, they came right back and fixed it, no questions asked. The porch has been used on an almost daily basis since they finished it. It turned a space that had become virtually unusable

I met with three different companies including JR'S CUSTOM DECKS. JR was the last company to come out and I really liked his no-nonsense approach. There are three things I look for in a vendor... 1. Reputation - He had 175 reviews on Angie's list and his website had lots of photos of decks he has built. 2. Honesty - He is a "straight shooter" and he isn't trying to upsell or convince you of more than you need but he does listen to what you want and he made suggestions based on his experience when I asked for his input. 3. Value- I am a middle of the road kinda guy. I rarely go for cheapest as I have been around the block enough times but I do appreciate value and quality. - JR was not the cheapest nor the most expensive but after reading the reviews, viewing the website and talking with him, I went with his bid, feeling very confident in my decision but still on guard. The work itself exceeded my expectations. From beginning to end he and his crew were polite, professional and very capable of building my deck. I will say that my deck has some very tricky sections. I spent a lot of time watching because I wanted to make sure they didn't cut any corners. They are craftsmen in the truest sense of the word and there were never any issues. I did change a few things from original design and he was very accommodating to my requests. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. If you are scanning the reviews on Angie's List looking to use a company for decks - from one homeowner to another - you can sleep well knowing that these guys are the real deal and capable of much more than my curved masterpiece!

Everything went great. JR returned my call quickly and sent me an estimate within a couple of days based on the pictures and measurements I provided. He also suggested that I use metal balustrades instead of the wooden ones I was replacing. This was not something I had considered and I'm grateful for the suggestion because it has a much cleaner and modern look. The work was done within less than a week from my initial phone call to J R. His team was on time and J R came to check the work when it was done. I'd definitely hire him again. Throughout the process it was evident that customer satisfaction is a top priority for J R.

Perfect, the craftsmanship is excellent. The crew arrived on time each day and the job was completed on schedule. The crew cleaned up and disposed of all residue from the worksite.

He was very professional. I just didn't go with him I went with a another company. His bid was very close to theirs. I called him because he was on Angie's List and he did some work from some friends who are really picky and they thought he did a good job. He seemed very knowledgeable, called like he said he would.

Everyone involved was very professional. J.R.'s crew were his employees, not contract people. J.R. came up with a clever solution to be able to drain our hot tub without having to unscrew decking boards. I highly recommend this company.
