He was here when he said he was going to be and completed the service in the time frame he originally said it would take. Very pleased.

I came home from work to discover the interior of my house was as warm as the exterior, well over 95 degrees. There was water all over the floor next to the furnace and ice on line leading to the outdoor condenser. I called the phone number of the company that installed the split system 17 years ago but the number was no longer in service. I frantically logged onto Angie's List for help and found AccuTermp. It was almost 6 PM and I dreaded having to wait until the next day but I left a message anyway. Within a half hour or so, Steve returned my call. After a short discussion, he said he'd be right over and not 15 minutes later he pulled up. Considering the age of the system, I feared the worst, but after a quick examination of the system, he declared the problem to be no more than a clogged air filter. I just so happened to have a replacement that I had purchased several days ago but not yet installed. Steve took this as a teaching opportunity. I learned that not all filters are created equally, that the more expensive pleated ones certainly do trap more particles but also restrict air flow. Mine was so clogged that basically no air was getting into the system and when that happens, the air conditioner literally turns into a freezer. Hence the ice on the outside line. He recommended that I use the cheap $2 fiiberglass filters that every grocery store sells. Yes, smaller particles will sail right through it but the system won't have to work so hard. So, I did as he suggested and slowly the house started cooling down. While we were waiting, Steve revealed to me that even the best residential systems can achieve a difference of of better than 22 degrees.

Mr. Brock was understandably busy during the heat that emerges in Central Texas toward the end of Spring, and more than a week passed between the time I first called and the date he actually arrived to inspect the unit. However, I had informed him up front that our problem was not an emergency, that our unit was cooling satisfactorily, and that I could wait for a few days. In hindsight, I am ecstatic that I waited for him instead of engaging someone else. Mr. Brock obviously has many years of experience, and he is just as obviously a fair and honest man. After inspecting and testing the system, he explained very patiently and clearly to me what he believed to be causing the problem, and he candidly told me that he believed he could repair it inexpensively. With my approval, he departed to purchase some materials and supplies that were not in his truck, and he soon returned and completed his work. After more than 24 hours, there is no sign of further condensation or leakage, and I am confident that the problem has indeed been fixed. When he was finished, Mr. Brock presented me with an invoice for $109, including total materials of $35 and his travel charge from Cedar Park to my residence in Austin. I believe that his knowledge and labor were worth considerably more, and I am mailing him an additional check today.

He made an appointment for a follow-up and never showed up or called. He rescheduled and came out and finished the work. I found out that he was no longer a contractor with them when something else went wrong with my A/C and I called the home warranty people.

They were very friendly, and seemed to be honest. They were professional, and the quality of work was good. My overall experience with them has been good.
