+ -1 moreThis is the second time I have used Mims Plumbing. Both times the work has been excellent. The first time Steven Mims arrived on time, and immediately went to work. He installed a sink for me, which took a great deal of work due to the type of sink it was. He also checked to see if a noise I was hearing was the sound of water dripping. It was not, and he took time to explain to me what was causing the noise. Steven was quiet, professional, and also very clean and neat in his personal appearance. He did not leave any mess in my house either! The next time I used Mims, I had noticed a leak in an outdoor faucet. He again arrived when he said he would and performed extra work to locate the leak, fix it, and left everything neat outside. I highly recommend Mims, and have recommended them to many people.

+ -1 moreI reported last week. Steven asked whether we had any other problems while he was here, and we had none. Too bad the toilet wasn't leaking on his last visit, started over the weekend. My husband checked, but wasn't able to do anything so we turned off the water. We left a message, didn't expect a call back until Tuesday. Steven called Monday and came to repair the toilet. My husband had bought the bathtub on/off/temperature control device for the upstairs bath, but hadn't yet installed it. We had to pay for the service call and the toilet repair didn't take very long, so Steven installed the hardware for us. Great job!!
Description of Work: Repaired leaking toilet and replaced bathtub control.

Description of Work: I submitted a report a day or two ago about Mims Plumbing. I didn't include previous services, although they were a year or so ago and I can't find all of the dates or costs. In 2007, we found that we had a water heater leak in our garage; Stephen wasn't able to buy a good quality water heater to replace ours since it was on Friday afternoon and the plumbing supply places were closed. We assured him that we were able to shower upstairs where we still had hot water. He bought a water heater that met his standards and installed it on the following Monday. In 2006, our upstairs water heater "died" and we had an extraordinary estimate to replace it. After considering our options, we called Mr. Mims. Stephen "came, measured, conquered" and replaced the water heater in the attic for a very reasonable price

+ -1 moreAs stated previously, we have used Mr. Mims in the past for several plumbing problems and will continue to call him for any future problems. He has done work for my mother and two sisters living here in San Antonio, and we are all happy with his service.
Description of Work: Our kitchen faucet was dripping, not a good thing when we're facing Stage 3 water restrictions. We have used Mims Plumbing in the past, as have other members of our family. We called yesterday (7/1/09) and left a message. We received a return call within a couple of hours (this is a small business). Mr. Mims called this morning (7/2) to see if we were available. He arrived within the specified time frame after the call. He took care of the drip, was concerned whether we had any other issues since we had to pay for the service call ($80.00). We called Mr. Mims several months ago when we suspected a leak in our slab - water coming out from the side of the house. He determined that we had a leaking pipe in our wall, had to cut out a small piece of drywall in the bathroom to repair the pipe. He recommended a drywall/pain person to repair/repaint the drywall.

+ -1 moreHe showed up quickly and he got that part replaced. I could not get the part off myself, so that is why I called them. He also sold me a balancing valve, but he has not gotten back to install that yet. I am going to have to call him back as he must have just forgotten about that. I would use him again, and I know that my neighbor across the street has used him a couple of times.
Description of Work: He replaced the mixing valve on my shower. I had bought the parts so he just replaced it. He was here for about an hour.

+ -1 moreSteve was unable to make the originally scheduled appointment but was courteous enough to call and let me know he would be running late. When he arrived he got right to work - snaking out the pipe. Apparently, a clog was not our real problem as there was little debris dislodged.

+ -1 moreWhen I called Linda with Mims Plumbing on Thursday afternoon, they were very busy, but I could tell she really wanted to help us. It was going to be Monday evening before they could come, but she sounded like they were worth the wait. When they realized that they were going to be in our neighborhood on Saturday morning, they decided to squeeze us in and get it done. We are very grateful for the very prompt, professional job.
Description of Work: The kitchen sink was clogged on both sides from overloading the garbage disposal. The clog was deep in the wall, so it took more work than we expected.

+ -1 moreGreat! Steve Mims can be counted on to do a good job for a fair price. He came when scheduled; assessed the situation to see what supplies and hardware would be needed; got the necessary parts, and got to work. One of the toilets to be replaced was very old and required some additional work to be properly removed and replaced (something about an old flange?). Anyway, three hours later, he was finished, the old toilets were taken out of the house. And the new ones are doing their job.
Description of Work: Steve installed two low-flow toilets which we already had acquired and had here at the house.
