+ -1 moreI attempted to remove the cartridge myself and was unable to. It was a more involved process, given that the two rubber gaskets had somehow separated from the cartridge and wedged into the water lines. Mr. Mims took his time and was very thorough, making sure he had every single piece of the rubber gaskets extracted before installing the new cartridge. I couldn't be more pleased with his work and clean up after the job was complete.

+ -1 moreThis guy's excellent. It's a one man company. His wife takes the phone calls. He's reasonably looking. He works out of Boerne. He's really good. When you come in and you only have a limited piece of work and he still has his minimum. He's got a minimum charge that you pay to have him come. So, he will run around trying to fix some other things just to make sure. Can I check the area in your faucets, so that I feel that you're getting the entire of benefit out of me? He's really good as far as picking your brain for anything else, not to charge you extra, but to make sure that the work he does is at least with $75 that you're going to pay to have the work done. He's also repaired the main water line coming into my house from outside where he had to dig up to find the leak. He charged me 40 % of what it cost me with the other company that I was disappointed with.
Description of Work: They repaired three out door faucets, and they repaired the master bedroom toilets.

+ -1 moreRemoval of old faucet and installation of my new dream faucet, along with the under-counter water filter with spout went exceptionally well. Steve was very friendly and professional and did an incredible job of getting everything installed perfectly and in a timely fashion. He had to come back the next day to check on a small leak in the hot water supply line. Turns out it's the supply line from the faucet to the hot water outlet, and I had to get a new one from the manufacturer. II called Mims back when it came it and he was here the same week. Everything's all hooked up and working great! Honest, nice, professional and does an excellent job!
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen faucet and installed new under-counter water filter using items I had previously purchased. Replaced supply lines on faucet.

+ -1 moreI called on a SATURDAY to inquire about pricing. Linda provided that information to me and was extremely helpful. She coached me on handling the warranty call to GE. We scheduled our appointment and her husband was here 4 days later. He arrived on time. He did what he said he would do. In fact, when our local home improvement store was confused about the warranty process for a water heater, he remained very patient. They wanted our old water heater, which was different from his previous experiences; however, he was ready and willing to do that. He installed the water heater and did more than we had initially agreed upon to do so (i.e. returning our old water heater). His final bill was on target with the initial verbal quote.
Description of Work: Picked up new water heater and dropped off old one at the local home improvement store.Installed new water heater along with expansion tank and vaccuum breaker.Verified that the pressure valve was operable.

+ -1 moreI have used Steve Mims exclusively since 1993. He has performed a variety of jobs over the years outstandingly. I will use no other plumber.
Description of Work: I recently had Steve Mims put in a new water heater and back flow valve. I have used Mim's plumbing since 1993. He is so good that I have used no one else. Steve Mims always does outstanding work at a reasonable price. I have had him fix plumbing fixtures in the bathroom, outside and other places throughout the house. We put in new sinks throughout the house. Steve Mims took out the old ones, put in the new sinks along with all the plumbing adjustments that needed doing. I am reluctant to fill out this report because it will give Steve Mims more business and I might have a hard time getting him.

+ 1 moreThe latest work was the usual excellent experience from beginning to end. Steve's dispatcher is very pleasant. When I called, she set up the appointment on the spot for a few days later. Steve showed up on time and the work was done in short order. I had not asked for an estimate, but felt his charge was very reasonable for the work performed.
Description of Work: Our house is 64 years old and we have lived in it for 22 years. Soon after moving in we needed plumbing work, and saw an ad for Mims Plumbing in a small community newspaper. Steve came out, completed the work quickly and very professionally, and charged a very modest price for it. He has been our plumber ever since and we have had him out here at various times to do the following: - Install dishwasher, garbage disposal, sink and faucets in a "do it ourselves" kitchen remodeling - Install a vanity and sink in a "do it ourselves" bathroom remodeling - Find and repair two different water pipe leaks that developed inside our walls - Run a plumber's snake down our kitchen sink drain to unclog a plug - Replace heater elements in our electric water heater and then replace our entire water heater (15 years later) He is "our plumber" and the only one we ever call because we have yet to find a plumbing job he can't perform -- plus his charges are always so reasonable. He even bailed our church out when we developed a waterline break the day of a big fundraiser; he made time in his schedule to come down and patch the line temporarily so we didn't have to shut water down in the building which would have required cancelling the fundraiser. Our most recent service was on January 16th 2012 when he came out to fix a leaky kitchen faucet and replaced a leaking hose faucet. I simply called and arranged for him to come out. He was on time, completely fixed the problems, and his charge was reasonable. Steve will give you a free estimate on a job, but I have used him so much and have come to know him as so reasonable and honest that I don't ask for an estimate anymore on routine repair work! I can't say enough good things about him and his work. I have recommended him to many people, and don't know of anyone who was disappointed by his work.

It didn't take very long, and he asked me if there was anything else that I needed done. There was a service charge and he wanted me to get my money's worth, but I didn't have anything else for him to do, but he asked. I thought that was wonderful. He was very good and very typical.

That didn't take a great deal of time, so he asked if there was anything else plumbing related that he could take care of while he was there. The only thing I was having a little problem with was the sprayer part of the kitchen sink faucet. He found the problem and took care of that also. He seemed to want to do as much as he could to give me my money's worth for the service call charge. I really appreciated that. I will definitely use him the next time I need plumbing help.

+ -1 moreStephen showed up at 4PM to install a new dishwasher. I had disconnected the old dishwasher and he moved the old one out to my garage. He unpacked the new one and had to wire in a power cord. He installed the new one and leveled it. When he went to shut the dishwasher door, he discoverd that the door would hit the bottom of the tile counter top. Even with adjustable screws, he couldn't get it low enough so the door would clear the counter. He asked if it would be ok to file down the tile overhange and I said yes. He got his sander and spent some time filing down the tiles to a point where the door could close. After he was done, he cleaned up all the dust and tile particles, then ran a "wet" test to make sure the dryer was working properly. When he was completely done, it was after 6 PM. He did a really good job and I would recommend him to anyone.

Linda was extremely helpful and patient in helping me to gather information on the latest products available and assisting me in making the correct choice for my situation. Steve Mims did a very clean professional replacement and installation of my water heater in a difficult location - moving water heaters in and out of an attic is always a tough job. Their pricing was good and I always appreciate having the owner of a service company do the work - they obviously have a direct interest in doing the job right. I will definitely continue to use Mims for my future plumbing needs and I have already begun to recommend them to family and friends.
