We used the deal because we had a small leak in our roof. J-Mar thought they had found the problem (badly installed flashing around chimney) and fixed it. However, during next rain, still saw the leak. J-Mar came back twice to ensure that the repair was done to our satisfaction! Their people are great to work with.

They did it all in a timely manner.

I pretty much had them focus their attention to a single area (probably 40 ft of flashing joining a roofling covering our deck butted up against a facing exterior wall) and some leakage issues we'd been having. This wasn't very typical of the needs being address by people buying these deals so he needed to leave and come back with some different supplies. Scheduling was a little awkward, but I wasn't in a hurry and went along with a few reschedules/postponements. When he made it back out, he spent a couple of hours manually working the seals. The rest of the roof didn't get a lot of attention but for the price paid I probably got a fair deal in just some focused 2+ hrs of manual labor on my problem area. I will consider them in the future when I need some more thorough roof repair/replacement work done.

Overall JaMar did a good job at a fair price. The only issue we had initially was getting a call back to get the job started. Once we made contact they were great and everything went as planned.

A while ago I purchased an angies list deal for a roof inspection from this vendor. Angie's list called and said they'd priced it wrong and the vendor couldn't do the work at the price I bought the coupon for. So Angie refunded my money. It wasn't the roofer's fault - it was Angie's list's fault but I understand that sometimes folks make mistakes so no harm done. The roofer did email and apologize even though it wasn't their mistake. I appreciated that.

They called me to see if they could come by and give me an estimate. No one came by at the appointed time. I left after waiting thirty minutes with no phone call explaining why no one had shown up. When I arrived home someone was there. We walked around the house for a good 45 minutes. He seemed knowledgeable. We set up a follow up appointment. On that day, I received a call from the office saying he couldn't make it. I chose to not reschedule thinking what a nightmare it would be if they were actually working on my home and not showing up as promised.

Bill was thorough and responsive throughout the process (from estimate through final check). They accommodated a schedule change request that I made without any problems. The crew was respectful of our property and they cleaned-up as promised. It has only been a week since the work was completed, and we haven't had enough rain yet to check for leaks, but the job appears to be done well. I am very satisfied with the overall experience with Ja Mar Roofing. I would use them again in the future.

Had attic fan installed and found no difference from before installation. Hubby went in attic and discovered that fan blade was bent and could not rotate. Installer never bothered to check to make sure fan was operational after installation. Once hubby freed blade, we knew it was working, but made very little difference in the heat level in our attack. It also took months and months to get them out here to install the fan. Apparently they were ordering fans in bulk and had no inventory when they ran the special on Angie's List. We had to follow up several times with them to finally get them out here, even after they received the fans.

They did a good job and cleaned up well after the job. They were very professional.

Foreman and crew (3 workers) arrived at about 7:30 AM and were done and cleaned up at about 6:30 PM. Worked right thru a light rain most of the afternoon. Roof was completed to my satisfaction. I did have to do a some caulking around the 4 "eyebrows" at the eves of the gable ends.............maybe I'm a little too particular. Overall an excellent rating.

Helpful meeting, but in comparison with another competitor, their offer was less good. Alsso they offered no senior discount and did not accept payment by credit card.

It went great. They did an excellent job and their price was very competetive. They were professional and cleaned up after themselves. They were very good with communicating with us and we would definitely use them again.

They arrived Friday morning and were 85% done by nightfall, finished the roofing on Saturday and returned for a short time on Monday to finish some of the trim work. The results look great, and there have been no issues in the six months since the job was finished. They were good about cleanup - I only found a few nails here and there, mostly from the trim work on Monday.

Ja-mar contacted me promptly. They were willing to work with insurance company. They also able to give me a quote while I was not at home, leaving roofing samples on my front porch. They sent me the quote via email which was nice and accepted notations and changes via email too. Accepted proposal 3-4 weeks later and they scheduled quickly and started quickly. Took about 2-3 days. Excellent & nice crew worked on house. They cleaned up very well - I found 1 nail out of the 1000s they had to remove and used - amazing! A little bit of communication errors on the ridge vent on the roof but they addressed that professionally and worked hard to guarantee I was 100% happy. End product was awesome. Would recommend them to anyone. Update - I've learned more about what a quality job really is and how it looks is by far not the most important piece of a quality job when it comes to a roof. After a recent rainstorm I found 2 leaks - one was visible, one could be heard dripping inside the wall. Four sunny days later they finally came out to fix the leaks even though I was at the top of their list. I was told 2 vent collars were not tight enough and 1 was not even in place. There is also an issue with the flashing along the garage against the house which leaked because the flashing was not really installed correctly - they caulked the flashing against the siding. A siding contractor that I plan to use to fix this said the flashing needs to be under the siding else it will leak. That is 4 total places where my 'preventive' roof replacement created leaks by using Ja-mar. All these leaks created problems - 2 were inside my walls, the other 2 stained my ceilings. Though I liked the initial interaction and customer service and everyone was nice and the product looks great, the product did not perform to my expectations of a product created and installed by professionals.

JA-MAR was very quick to call me back after I left a message about wanting someone to give me estimates for my roof. I was immediately unsure about hiring this company when the person I spoke to (Rick King) asked if they could start work right away if I was happy with their bid. I hesitated before answering him, and He asked me if I was just fishing for estimates at this point. I responded by saying that it is important to get at least three estimates before embarking on any project. He responded by saying that it would cost his company too much time and money to come out to my house twice as opposed to only once if they were the company I chose, and asked me to call him back after I got my other two estimates. I did question him about not wanting to come out to Elgin, and he said that he never said he did not want to come out to Elgin, (his demeanor said something entirely different) but it was not until I told him again that I was asking the company for two separate estimates for my roof that Rick scheduled an appointment to look at my roof. One estimate was to be for the area on my roof that was leaking around a vent pipe, and one estimate was to be for the entire roof to be replaced. Rick called me to re-schedule our appointment due to rain that put him behind on a job he was currently working on. Since I had rescheduled the appointment with Rick, the other companies had already come to look at my roof and given me estimates. I just could not bring myself to have Rick come out to my house at that point. I already had a bad feeling just from our conversation on the phone that I did not want to waste my time or the company's time because I already knew I would not hire them just from the conversation I had with Rick on the phone. I called Rick and canceled the appointment.

I simply received an estimate from these folks. Daniel left me a voice mail on Friday stating he would have an estimate in my email that night. Anxious to have my roof repaired I did check a few times that evening. I received no estimate. I checked my email on Saturday as well, no estimate. I finally called him on Sunday. Daniel called me back, being very polite to let me know he hadn't forgot about me and that I would have an estimate in my email when I woke up on Monday. I think I get up prior to Daniel. I received an estimate at 9:33am, Monday morning. So, I have to give the grade of D in Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professionalism. I'm the type of guy who like it told to me straight. I understand it was Friday and everyone wants to have their weekend. No problem. Unfortunately, I was told one thing and given another, twice. I will be unable to use this company; the trust was violated right out of the gate. Sorry guys.

I didn?t feel comfortable with using them. Their estimate seemed out of line for what I wanted.

After my initial contact with JA-MAR roofing on1/04/2010, they did not respond until 1/11/10, when a man named Bryan (but the caller ID read David Philips) left a phone message saying "That they had a lot of employees out due to the holidays and they would be out soon to look at the roof and give me a call". After not hearing anything for almost two weeks, on 1/22/10 I called and left a phone message reminding them that on 1/11/10, they had said someone was going to look at the roof and give me a call. I asked if that had been done and could someone please call me. On 1/23/10, I received another phone message from Bryan (the caller ID still read David Philips) saying, "That he was sorry, he had been out sick, he thought someone else was going to look at the roof for him, but they didn't and he was putting it back on his clip board to get this thing going for me". It is 2/02/2010 and I have still not heard from JA-MAR roofing about the repair issue. If they don't want to do the job, they could have the courtesy to tell me so that I could contact another roofing company. A different roofing company could have fixed the roof by now. So far, this company's customer service has been extremely lacking and in my opinion, they do not deserve to recommended by Angie's List.

My roof needed to be replaced as a result of the hail damage last spring, and Ja-Mar was willing to come out, meet me, look at the damage and provide a work estimate. The estimate was very close to what my insurance adjustor had written up. I had a bunch of questions which Bryan was happy to answer and they were able to obtain materials and start work just a few days after I signed the contract. After the roof was completed, there was a small repair that needed to be done as a result of some old wood rot, and they were happy to come back out and take care of it. From start to finish I thought that Ja-mar was great. I worked with Bryan, and he was very easy to work with, professional, always punctual, and did a great job keeping me updated. I had a few roofers out to look at the storm damage. I felt like there wasn?t a lot of pressure with this company, and liked that their process is provide a work estimate without the home owner having to sign a contract first, or provide the insurance paper work. My new roof looks great and I can?t imagine a company that could be any easier to work with.

Bryan, the sales rep was professional, promt, curtious and helpful. The crew was great and did a wonderful job. During the tear-off, they discovered some areas of deck rot that needed repair and they got it done quick and right. The crew also did a great job of cleaning up after they were done for the day and the final cleanup looks as though they were never here. I am very happy with the final results.

They were dependable and reasonably priced. They were very professional. The only thing that I didn't like was that I asked them to call me when they were finished with the job, but I didn't get a call back.

Got a quote from Ja-mar based on a recommendation from a friend. Their quote was the highest, but after negotiating with the insurance company they agreed to cover it. I wanted to go with Ja-mar because they don't use subcontractors and they were the most professional company I dealt with during the bid process. The job took one day (~29 squares on a 2 story house). Employees were friendly, although we didn't interact with them much. (You don't really want to be home with the constant sound of walking and air guns above your head!) The roof looks great and I've seen no sign of leaks with all the fall rains we've had. My only complaint regards cleanup. I've found a lot of old staples (presumably from the tearoff; they use nails) in the time since. Luckily my kids' feet haven't found them the hard way. I think a couple of more passes with the magnetic sweeper would be a good idea.

The project got off to a slow start - it was a little hard to pin down a start date - but once underway the team did a great job and finished quickly. They cleaned up the job site and the roof hasn't leaked a bit. They even installed a solar tube at no additional cost.
