John Bradford and his painting partner, James, did an AMAZING JOB!!!! I cannot give them enough kudos!! There is no doubt in my mind that John Bradford is the BEST PAINTER in all of DFW!!! Let me tell you why I say that. John and James were on time every day & each of them had a smile on their face. The patching of the cracks from our foundation repairs were done beautifully and the very difficult to match "Crow's Foot Knock Down" texture was matched impeccably! John is a perfectionist and will take the time to do it right. He is methodical and patient and would not rush a quality job. He prides himself on taking his time and doing it right. He inspects everything he does and will go back and redo something if he does not like how it looks when finished. Not only was the painting and wall repairs done amazingly but John did so many extra items to help in any way he could. For example, while on the scaffoling, he dusted our ceiling fan that hung from the 24 foot ceiling! He and James moved all our furniture and treated it with the utmost care. During the 3 and a half weeks of this job, each Friday afternoon, for the weekends, they would move all the furniture back so we could still live in our home. They are trust worthy, dependable and I could leave them in my home while I was running errands and NEVER worry. I trust them implicitly and are sooooooo very pleased with their work. They are both fine gentlemen that I would recommend to you without hesitation. If you have to wait for John and James to get you into their schedule, it will be worth the wait!!
Description of Work: We had the 80% of the interior of our home (8 rooms and multiple hallways) painted. We just had foundation work, so there were cracks to some ceilings & walls that needed to be repaired. The texture on our home is was is called "Crow's Foot Knock Down" and only the most experienced painters even recognized it, least were able to match it where the repairs were required. This job included all ceilings, woodwork, & walls & the paint itself. We have triple crown moldings and lots of picture frame paneling and a 24 foot high walls in the family room. We also had new baseboards installed by someone else that also needed to be painted. It was an extensive job and professional painters were a must!

An absolutely outstanding experience. John is meticulous and downright persnickety about details, which makes all the difference on an interior painting project. We had him come in right after our hardwood flooring was replaced, so all our furniture was stored elsewhere in the house. Rather than cover the floor in just the area where they were working at any particular moment, they covered the entire floor - all 1300 square feet - just to be absolutely certain that our new floor was protected. They used extra-thick layers under the area where they staged their equipment and heavier stuff, like paint cans, to make sure the floor wouldn't be dented or gouged. They were super-careful about taping down the protective paper, and only taped to the baseboard rather than the floor, again to make sure that nothing marred the finish of our new floor. Then he and his assistant James thoroughly prepped all walls, including cleaning, patching where drapery hardware had been removed, removing, cleaning and painting AC returns, removing and redoing old caulk, sanding doors and frames, and of course patching nail holes and nail pops. John thought the baseboard in one area had not been installed by our floor crew as snugly as it should have been, so he also took care of that. Another example - there was a sloppy eye-level join in a door casing done by the previous owner - John and James sanded and patched and now you'd never know it's there. John also had good suggestions about special finishes to consider in our bar area. The newly painted surfaces all look great. Not a single drop of paint where it shouldn't be. They cleaned up thoroughly after themselves and we have yet to spot a single drip or missed spot. Super-professional and highly recommended. We plan to use them again later this year in our master bedroom/bath.
Description of Work: 1) Painted all the walls in the house except kitchen, bedrooms/baths. 2) Primed and painted new baseboards 3) Painted eleven closets (including interior shelves) plus nine doors and door casings/frames. 4) Walls: Two coats satin S/W Promar 200, zero VOC for walls. 5) Doors, casings, shelves, base: S/W alkyd (oil-based). 6) Installed new doorknobs in all doors.

John Bradford was a consummate professional. He responded within 15 minutes to my request for an estimate. He came by my home to evaluate the project the following day and sent me an email with the estimate that same evening. John projected it would take a day to complete the work. He and his assistant arrived at my home exactly when he said he would be there. My husband came home for lunch about 1:00 and they were completely finished and were loading the van. Everything was put perfectly back in place and the ceiling was beautiful. John did a beautiful job and I will definitely use him for future projects!
Description of Work: John repaired nail holes in the ceiling and then painted the entire ceiling.

Mr. Bradford was very accommodating. He and his assistant were professional and skilled.
Description of Work: Paint on guest bathroom walls was cracked and peeling. Mr. Bradford scraped, applied mud, and re-textured the damaged areas before painting the bathroom, including door and trim. He also painted the adjoining hallway walls, doors, and trim moldings. He installed a new lamp fixture in the hallway ceiling. His assistant removed wallpaper from a small accent wall area in the kitchen, repaired a nick in the chair rail trim molding adjoining the area, and painted the accent area, chair rail and base molding. Mr. Bradford also secured a loose exterior window shutter and decorative front porch window trim.

John did a fantastic job! He was very responsive by working with my schedule to come over to see the room for the quote and performing the job 5 days later on a Saturday. He promptly arrived at the agreed upon time and starting preparing the room. He mentioned to me earlier in the week that it would just be him and the job would be about 6 hours. He pretty much nailed the timeframe and the job! Needless to say, he did a wonderful job and the room looks great! We plan on using John again in the future as we try to update other rooms in the house with some fresh paint. Thanks for the great job John!!
Description of Work: I needed a small bedroom (about 10x11 - future baby's room) and the reach in closet painted - walls, ceiling, trim/wood work, closet doors (both sides) and the interior facing portion of the entry door.

Pretty good Wish everything had been pulled off to paint Some items were not tightened back such as light switch plates, receptacle covers Did patch two holes in doors and made too look like the grain lines (bonus)
Description of Work: John and James came to the house and did an estimate and they were the best offer for what we wanted done. The overall painting was good, but the only thing I've found since they finished is that towel hangers, toilet paper hangers, child safety latches were not removed and were painted around. The ones I removed prior to painting the holes were patched and areas painted. Towards the end they were rushing because Mr. Bradford had to leave to go paint his brother's house. They were both friendly and courteous, great with kids. They weren't exactly punctual and they ended by 5 pm daily.

I chose John because of his professional, prompt response to my Angie's list inquiry, plus his complete and written estimate that included a comparable price for the service. I will continue to use John because of the quality work that he performed and his dependability. He and one assistant were very respectful of the household while completing the work (minimizing noise/dust, meticulous protection of my hard wood floors, gentle removal of my crown molding/ceiling fans so that I did not have to replace them with new). My new ceiling and patched ceiling both look great--and both were completed using sound procedures (screws, not nails!) John took the time to reinforce my patched ceiling, installing screws in the existing sheet-rock to strengthen it--all without prompting, mind you. And he stayed within the anticipated timelines and estimate to complete the job. The rooms were clean and all trash/refuse was removed from the site. It was a refreshing experience to have a handyman do what he promised and to exceed my expectations.
Description of Work: John did various tasks during this job including 1) removiing/replacing ceiling in one room, 2) patching ceiling and removing popcorn/acoustic texture in another room 3) removing and replacing ceiling fans in both rooms, 4) removing and reinstalling crown molding in both of the rooms, 5) retexturing both ceilings (orange peel), and 6) painting both ceilings.

John possesses a high level of skill and expertise for painting. He is very patient and professional which leads him to do a high quality job at a reasonable price. John was very patient with us on color decisions and he accommodated our in-process changes (i.e., repainting) with minimal price increases. John's work on refinishing our oak cabinets was truly outstanding. His abilities "erased" the team damage to the original lacquer. Overall, the 10-year old cabinets came out looking as good or better than new.
Description of Work: They painted a majority of our house interior. They removed wall paper and textured walls in three of the rooms. They refinished the kitchen cabinets and painted our dining room trim.

John was a good listener in terms of trying to figure out what I wanted and what look I was going for. He came to my house, looked at my product and gave me an estimate. We agreed on the service and he made a few visits to my house to paint the fireplace. He took my cabinets to his shop and worked on them. He was able to perfectly match a low luster black on my vanity to the cabinets by eyeballing it. I was very impressed with his work. I consider myself picky. He was also nice enough to clean up the prior paint job on the adjacent walls. He cleaned up after himself after each visit.
Description of Work: John painted some new cabinets in my bathroom as well as a brick fireplace (interior).

We had specifically requested white ceilings, colored walls and enameled wood trim (crown moulding, chair rails, baseboard, door frames and doors). John moved furniture, masked and papered the floor and protected all non-painted surfaces, including removal of all electrical switch and receptacle plates and covering of all ceiling fans and fixtures. We had experimented extensively on walls throughout the area with squares of ten different paint samples to help us decide on a color. John primed all of these areas to prevent the squares from showing through the finish coat. I requested a paint quality upgrade, which increased the cost from the estimate and John was not satisfied with the look of the ceiling, so he repainted it at no cost, except to buy the extra paint. I also asked him to paint two extra doors for an additioanl charge. All of the work was done meticulously and professionally and clean up was complete. John left no mess for us to clean up. We just moved everything back into place when he was finished. As the work was being done, John did everything he could to minimize the diruption of or routines. Each night before he left he would remove tarps and plastic covers wherever he could so that we would have access to necessary areas, e.g., the kitchen and eating area.
Description of Work: John estimated the job and advised on paint quality and how best to accomplish good results. The estimate was for a family room, dining room, kitchen and eating area that were all contiguous. Walls, ceiling and trim were painted. Wood surfaces were sanded prior to painting.

I received and accepted John Bradford's estimate and he performed all tasks expeditiously and professionally. I just requested that he 'paint the house'. He carefully inspected and provided extra surface conditioning (sanding/priming) where needed on his own. Cleanup was very satisfactory.

They did an excellent job. He was very conscientious and they were all very good. There were three people that did the work. I had the den painted before and it was the wrong color. They gave me an estimate and we scheduled the painting. It was John Bradford, Miss Lipsky and another person. They all worked very hard. The paint company gave them the wrong paint and it didn't look like the chip, so they got new paint and repainted it. I would recommend them to anybody. I plan to use them again to take out an attic fan in my older home and close that area off. The den is around 23x27 and has a vaulted ceiling. I felt very secure with them being in the house. They were very honest and cordial. The price was very compatible.

I got a lot of bids for this project (8 total in fact). John was one of the first to come out to give my bid because he was willing to give up his Saturday. He arrived right when he said he would and was very courteous and asked a lot of questions to ensure he understood the project. He was the *only* bidder that sent me a detailed list of everything that was to be performed and broke out his price by project/ area of the house. He was also one of the lowest bidders. Bids ranged from $1400 to $3300. I have to say that we felt the most comfortable with John of any of the bidders, so his very reasonable price was an added bonus. Several other companies had A's on Angie's List, but blew through my house and did the estimate in about 5 minutes flat. I was worried that I would have to "manage" these contractors a lot to be sure to get what I wanted. John worked us in with another project he had going on. He called every day to let us know where he would be and, if he was coming to our house, when he would be here. He was always extremely courteous and professional, just an all around nice guy too. He typically works by himself, although he brought a friend carpenter the day he did all the woodwork, which John supervised. I trusted him to be in and out of our house even when we couldn't be there. He is a very talented painter and does a fantastic job as far as quality goes, all with very minimal mess. He is thorough; he sanded and vacuumed all the baseboards and trim beforehand. He is not satisfied with anything less than perfection. I thought the master bathroom looked great, but he was not happy until he added a caulk line at the top of the wall to get the wall/ceiling line perfect. He even offered to come back another day to put knobs back on cabinets and hang pictures again (once all the paint was completely dry). John was super tolerant of my 2 year old daughter and comfortable being in someone else's house. He is a very hard worker and a very talented painter. My husband and I are very particular/perfectionist about things and we didn't have one single issue throughout the entire project, which took about a week total.
Description of Work: Repainted large living room and kitchen area, including all oil based trim. Pulled down border in kitchen, re-textured, and installed crown moulding that matched up to the living room exactly. Installed decorative trim around a large art niche (approx 6' x 6'). Repainted entire master bathroom (large) including all trim and fronts of all cabinetry.

Description of Work: I had texture removed in the kitchen and bath, re-textured, primed and painted. John Bradford performs general purpose painting, but excels at cabinet refinishing. We had asked multiple painters to estimate the job and received responses ranging from, "I wouldn't even touch it." or "You couldn't afford for me to do it." to $4500. John Bradford proposed a unique approach to doing the job which was more akin to restoring damaged furniture than refinishing cabinets. The results are spectacular. We experienced a minimum of inconvenience (never lost the use of our kitchen). All of the damaged and blemished areas were restored to their original appearance. The cabinets have an effective protective coating that will last for a very long time. The cabinets truly look brand new. John even gave us a senior citizen discount.
Description of Work: Our maple kitchen cabinets (10 years old, 27 doors, 10 drawers) had a lacquer finish which had deteriorated badly - especially where exposed to moisture or frequent use. John Bradford refinished all of the kitchen cabinets, restoring them to like-new appearance.
