We had 4 leaks after they did the roof. They did come out to repair the leaks. I feel if it had been done correctly there would have not been a need to come out to fix the leak and repair the water damage because of the leaking roof. Before the worked on the roof we had no leaks.
Description of Work: Wilson Roofing Co did our roof last September. We had hail damage to our roof.

Response from Wilson Roofing
This customer was contacted in response to this posting. The husband was shocked by his wife's posting as he was well pleased. We made note of the wife's concerns and asked two questions: 1) Did we get the leak fixed? In a timely fashion? The answer to both of these questions was yes. 2) Did you have any leaks after the 15" rainfall we recently experienced? The answer to this was no. It's not whether or not we are going to have the occasional leak because we will. It is how we respond to the leaks and whether or not we ultimately resolve the issues. All of our work crews have been with the company in excess of 10 years and have excellent track records. They would not be retained if they were not knowlegdeable and experienced.

The entire experience went very smoothly. After noticing ceiling stains in the vicinity of our kitchen skylights, we called several roofing companies for evaluation of our problem and estimates for repair. Wilson sent an estimator the very next day. He went up on the roof, inspected the skylights and almost immediately determined that the skylights had been inadequately flashed during the most recent roof replacement (which had occurred in 2003, three years before we purchased the property.) The estimator told us what would be involved in the fix: peeling back the shingles; removing the old, inadequate flashing; pre-fabricating and installing proper flashing, and replacing matching shingles. While on the roof, he photographed the problem skylights as well as some nearby roof stacks which he found to have been badly gnawned by squirrels. He showed us the photographs and explained his proposal, which -- in addition to re-flashing the skylights -- included covering the damaged roof stacks with pre-fabricated metal "squirrel-proof" stacks. The estimator telephoned us with an estimate within a few hours of leaving our home. An hour or so later, he followed up with a faxed estimate detailing the work to be done. After comparing feedback from several companies, we decided that Wilson's proposed solution seemed the best way to go. We called to accept their bid, and spoke directly to Mr. Wilson, who gave us further information about the prefabricated stack coverings which are the company's own design. To make a long story short, Wilson Roofing arranged to do the work the following day. The installation went very smoothly, and the workers were extremely professional, pleasant and informative. We could not have asked for a better result.
Description of Work: Re-flashed four skylights and re-covered six roof stacks which showed extensive animal damage.

I have had them do a $40K commercial job 7 years ago and did excellent work. They are not the cheapest, but I have not found any company that does a better, more professional job. If you are dealing with an insurance company be sure to compare the details of the bid against the insurance statement of damages. I've always found a few things off that needed to be corrected.

I love these guys. I wish I could hire them to fix the other problems around my house. The people they sent were obviously very knowledgeable about everything roof-related. They came out and identified the problem right away (something a previous roofer could not). They explained everything about the problems and how they would fix it. The work went quickly, they knew what to do. They even did extra work (they installed some insulation while the decking was removed) at no charge. They were friendly and professional. Wilson was referred to me by my house inspector as the type of company that may not be cheapest, but can do the work right the first time. I am hiring them for additional work on another roof.
Description of Work: Repair of roof leaks caused by damaged/missing flashing around chimney. Repair of decking, replacing shingles. Adding flashing to an attached shed. Replaced damaged vent boots.

chimney caps

The company that installed the roof on my house said the chimney cap needed to be repaired or replaced. I have an L-shaped cap that accommodates two fireplaces. I contacted Wilson Roofing after having a negative experience with another Angie?s List supplier, who unsuccessfully repaired the cap. (See my other reports.) After the repair, the problem was worse. I had to put bowls in both fireplaces to catch the water that entered whenever it rained. I explained the urgency of the situation to Wilson, and they responded promptly to my request to inspect the cap. They recommended replacing it. Wilson provided excellent customer service. While the cap was being fabricated, rain was forecast over a long holiday weekend. At their suggestion, they covered the cap with plastic, which required them to make an extra trip to my home. Thanks to their concern I could relax and not dread the sound of raindrops on the roof. I?ve been very pleased with the results. The new cap solved the problem. Also, I got positive feedback from a roofing consultant who saw the installed cap and said Wilson had done an excellent job. I highly recommend them. Their work, service, professionalism, and concern for the customer are outstanding.
Description of Work: Replaced L-shaped chimney cap that accommodates two fireplaces. The cap was fabricated and installed with two sections joined with a standing seam a minimum 1" in height. A kick-out and hem were provided at all perimeters. The cap was installed with a slight slope for draining such that no water ponds on it.

Wilson sent a proposal soon after their estimator came (very close to insurance adjuster's), made a change we requested (adding ridge vents), and completed the job on the scheduled date. Wilson's estimator returned for a quality check (appreciated), did a final sweep for odd nails and trash, and answered our questions. An excellent job.
Description of Work: WIlson Roofing did a complete re-roof following the March 2009 hailstorm. The company was very responsive (we were an existing customer), providing an estimate more quickly than we anticipated, given the demand in our neighborhood.

I had hail damage and needed a new roof. They were prompt responding to a request for bid and answered all of my questions. Scheduled the job fairly quickly (there had been a lot of hail claims in the area). The staff was very friendly and worked with me on the insurance adjusters estimate. The gutters they did not install but arranged their installation with another company. The roof went on in one day and the gutters, and everything was cleaned up by the time I got home. I found Wilson Roofing through Angie's list and I would certainly use them again.

I have yet to hear from them, and its been over 3 months. For a company that knows its the highest rated roofing company, they sure don't have good customer service - I wonder if my discloser that I was getting quotes from other places played a part in them never following up.
Description of Work: Filled out online service request form, and after a week of not hearing form them, I called and spoke to the assistant of an apprentice, who was supposed to look at the roofer's schedule, and then call me - he never did, and after a few days of trying to get in touch with them, I gave up, and contacted another roofing company.

Said they would be here @ 9:am = got here @ 9:30 am. BUT he made up the time difference with a EXCELLENT ATTITUDE & WORKMANSHIP. All his work was Excellent & VERY agreeable in answering ALL questions I had. 1 Solar vent makes a Vibration noise [like a unbalanced fan motor, which they say they will exchange. I decided to replace the second Skylight in the middle of the job, Which was delivered to the job site promptly with no hesitation or griping from anyone from Wilson Roofing. I WOULD RECOMMEND WILSON ROOFING for your Roofing Repairs, from my VERY PLEASANT experience on my CONCRETE TILE ROOF which is A LOT different from Conventional Roofs, as I have been TAKEN TOO THE CLEANERS IN THE PAST on this particular type of Roof . Would be More Than GLAD too sign my name to this anytime.

I'll use them again in the future. I think we need to replace the roof entirely, it's 50+ years old, and we'll definitely call them in for a bid.
Description of Work: Have had them out to the house 3 times. Each time they've done a pretty good job. We did a patch the first time about 1 1/2 years ago but it didn't hold up after that period of time. They recommended replacing our passive vents and the roofing immediately surrounding the vents. Our contractor also noticed other areas which need to be worked on and they did those spots as well for the original price.

The quote that they gave was the highest among the other companies and I didn?t consider using their services. They came out to the house and we had good conversation with them. They were knowledgeable and then they said that they would give me a written quote which they did. They were very businesslike and seemed to be very competent. It was pleasant doing business with them. I appreciated the fact that they gave me an estimate. They also gave me a good basis for evaluating the bid and I had the choice to choose the best bid, as all the other companies who gave me an estimate seemed to be good as well. I have nothing against using their services. The only thing is that I don?t have much experience with them like I have with another roofing company. They were the last ones to come up with the bid and I was holding on to start the work until I got all the bids.

This company was very professional. They were punctual, and the large crew worked very diligently to complete the job in a day. The job supervisor checked on them several times. He also helped with installation of the solar tube from the inside. There were only two glitches. First, the solar panels for the fans weren't aimed in the right direction, so someone had to come back out the next day to re-direct them (they're on a second story roof). Second, there was a hole in the roof where an air hawk vent had been removed when we first installed the solar vent fans. It had been temporarily covered at the time of that installation, because it had to be closed in order for the solar vents to work. We discussed this at length with several people from Wilson, who said they understood and would permanently cover the hole when they uncovered it to put the new roof on. However, no supervisor was there when the crew did that part of the roof, so they not only did not cover the hole, they also installed a new air hawk vent, which made our rather expensive solar vent fans useless. When we called the company to ask them to fix it, we got some argument initially (them saying there was a hole, so naturally there should have been a vent, and us saying the hole had been covered, and that we had made it clear more than once in advance of the job that it had to be covered for the fans to work), but they dropped the argument pretty quickly and just said if it was wrong, they would fix it. The supervisor came back out the next day to fix it. We thought the price was a little high compared to what some of our neighbors said they paid, but we selected this company because of their reputation for good work, both on Angie's List and from other sources, and our insurance company paid the price (their portion) and didn't seem to think it was high.

A service technician came to the house to inspect the damage and give me an estimate. He arrived at the arranged time; was friendly and professional. He answered all questions I had about the job. He asked for my email address and said that I'd have an estimate later that day (he needed to check if there were parts in stock, or if they would have to be ordered). He left a business card with me. I received an estimate and contract via email later that day. After getting estimates from other companies, I decided to go with Wilson Roofing. I printed out the contract that had been emailed to me, signed it, scanned it, and emailed it back. I received a call later that day to say a repair person would be out three days later (on a Friday). However, when I got home on Thursday, I found a Wilson Roofing card stuck to my front door. I went and checked the skylight, and sure enough, it had been repaired. The job was well done, and the area was completely cleaned up (no dropped screws, sheetmetal, etc). So they did the repair a day early -- which worked out great because that night was a thunderstorm !! I received a printed invoice in the mail a few days later which exactly matched the estimate. The skylight has been through a couple of heavy, windy downpours and is watertight. I'm very happy with the repair done by Wilson Roofing.

It did not go well. On Wednesday, August 19 I called and asked to have someone come out to estimate the damage to my roof. The young lady I spook with said their estimator would be out maybe Friday the 21st by for sure Monday the 24th. Monday afternoon I had not heard so I called and s/w a gentleman. He said that they could not be out until Wednesday at the earlist. I told him to forget it, I would get someone else. This has nothing to do with the hail storm we had several months ago. Wilson Roofing just seems to have more business than they can handle.

They gave me a good estimate where they described in detail what they were going to do. I asked to compare the cost between replacing the roof with the original style versus an upgrade. They also replaced to skylight covers. I didn't take them very long to do the actual replacement. The majority of the time taken was waiting on the insurance company.
Description of Work: We hired Wilson Roofing to replace a damaged roof for me. Wilson got there to give an estimate before the insurance company got there.
