Roof rats and mice in my house! Yuch!!! I interviewed several well-reviewed firms and selected Waterloo because they had the best price and because they could start that day. When you have rodents running about your bedroom at night keeping you awake, you want results quickly. Earnest got on the job right away with traps and closing holes. He and his assistant came every other day until the last pest was gone. Good riddance rodents and good job Earnest!

Ernest was great about coming over to look at my house and the situation I have. He was good about explaining to me what he will do inside and outside. I was also very concerned about my vegetable garden outside. He reassured me that he will use products around there that are not toxic. Ernest did a great job and was very professional.

They were professional, very thorough in explaining the process, and very reasonable for their service. They were on time and I would definitely refer another person.

I called Waterloo Pest Management based on reviews on Anglie's List. Ernest (the owner) is very personable and pleasant whenever he comes to the property, and I found him to be very professional and ethical in his dealings with us. He is really good about showing up as agreed upon, and calling if a problem interferes with a scheduled visit. When he first arrived to provide an estimate, he looked around the house, listened to my description of the activity in the attic. He provided specific information about the exclusion. I was additionally impressed by his problem solving skills in that he was able to quickly come up with a solution that would keep the rats from getting in and out around our ill-fitting garage door. Ernest provided an estimate that first day, which I readily accepted (I'd had other estimates that had been significantly higher). Ernest arranged a time the following day that worked around our schedule, and came, spending several hours installing the exclusions, then setting traps in the attic. He then re-visted every two to three days until we did not hear any activity in the attic and the traps remained empting...either four or five re-visits; I lost track. So now, the rats are gone, without me once visiting that hot attic or handling a single dead rodent! We also have a one-year warranty. I would not hesitate to recommend Waterloo Pest Management, both in terms of efficacy and professionalism.

I had a problem with German roaches in my dishwasher,electrial outlets and pantry. Waterloo was very nice to listen to my story on the phone about another estimate I had received. They were able to put me at ease just talking to them on the phone. They came out and gave me an estimate that was about 1/4 the price that the other company had quoted me. They went ahead and took off all the electrial outlet cover plates in the kitchen and treated those areas. Then treated the rest of the cupboards and pantry and dishwasher. Their estimate was so reasonable they treated the whole house inside and out for 1/4 the price!! They came back in three week and did and re-check. But I was pest free within a couple of days after treatment! I will call Waterloo again if I ever have a pest problem!! They did a great job and were nice people!

Ernest was very professional and friendly. He took me on a "tour" of the outside of my house, pointing out areas that pests were possibly entering my house. So in the future, I will be able to tackle specific areas that are in need of immediate repair of our roof and house siding. I appreciated that. He sprayed and took care of all areas outside and was gone within the hour. Wonderful experience!

Very impressed! My wife and I are moving into a home we just purchased and wanted to make sure we were all set from a pest management perspective. I contacted Waterloo Pest Management and received a call back within a few hours. The staff was very helpful and scheduled for Ernest to come out that same week. Ernest and his co-worker went up into the attic, did a complete walk around, and pointed out potential problem areas. He then sprayed the entire yard and house inside and out. He was very straight forward in saying they don't do contracts because most of his clients do "as needed" service or possibly just a couple times a year as a preventative measure. I felt the services and price were very reasonable and I'll definitely be calling back next spring!

We got them off the list. We had to sign a contract with them and the last time we spent about $300.

I was very happy with them. They came back again to my house, but it wasn’t an issue with bedbug. They are very responsive. They were very helpful and talked to me about various options. They did a very professional job.

They come out when they say they are coming out. The guy is very friendly and seems to give more than I ask for. I have used them at certain times and I would use their services again in the future.

It went great. Earnest came out within a few days of our calling him and his expertise and personality made the entire experience very pleasant. He treated the entire indoors and around the outside of the house. We did not have him treat our entire yard as it is over 1/2 acre and was not a problem. In addition to his treating the house interior, he surveyed around the entire outside of the house with my husband and noticed saw dust on the walls, indicating that we had wood eating ants which we were not aware of. He went into the attic at the location of the ants and blew in an insecticide to exterminate them. He cleaned the entire roof, removing debris and leaves which he indicated would attract and hide insects. He also pointed out tall shrubs with limbs touching the house and explained that would be a gateway for insects to come into the house so my husband did a little trimming. Never before have we had an exterminator come out and act as though they really cared. From our experience, they usually come out and spray here and there and leave and charge a higher fee.

Ernest was great to work with. He is knowledgeable, polite and reliable. As a Realtor, I come in contact with many companies, some good and some bad. I will always recommend Waterloo Pest Management to all my clients, friends, neighbors and fellow agents. They guarantee their work for 1 year, so if the rats come back, so will Waterloo. Did you know that 90-95% of houses have this problem? I had no idea! They also sprayed the outside for bugs for a lot less than other companies. After 3 months, they said they will call and ask me if I need them to come back. It is my choice if I want more spraying. Other companies bind you in a contract for at least a year, charging a lot more for each time they come. Overall, great company to work with! A+

Wonderfully. I was anxious that he might fall off the roof, but he had a stabilizing ladder and had no problems.

Ernest and his neatly dressed crew arrived promptly and got to work. He showed me a black widow spider and nest and worked extra to be sure there were no others. Ernest removed 2 scorpions from the bathroom and discussed other issues we have with rodents. His crew was careful around my pets and neatly wounds the water hose when done.

We had several unwanted critters in the walls and attic of our house. The week before I called Waterloo Pest, I had called our existing exterminator and they were too busy to respond to us for a week. When the existing exterminator came out , they looked at the size of a single hole we found in near the AC unit and said that the animal was a squirrel or a rat and that they would not be able to help me since the largest animal they exterminated was a mouse. They didn't even go into the attic to see if they could confirm their findings. I called Waterloo Pest the next day and they set up an appointment. They came on time for the appointment, did a complete inspection, and were able to schedule a house sealing appointment the next day. They sealed the holes we found and sealed several other places where critters may have been able to get in. Waterloo Pest came out several times after they sealed the house weeks to check on what they caught in the attic. Waterloo Pest even resealed several places when it became apparent that the critter had figured out how to break out through the first sealing layer of wire, foam and caulk. After three weeks we no longer heard noises in walls and attic and the technician no longer found any unwanted critters in the attic.. We are now critter free.

Ernest has now done our new home a few times. He always explains what needs to be done and had me redo my roof venting screens on my brand new house to prevent rodent intrusion- and he was correct! I had that problem on a previous home when rodents gnawed their way right through the thin screens. He does a very thorough job, and I never have any more insects after he leaves. He also does not come too often or is too pushy. You have the feeling of a really honest man who takes a great deal of pride in his work. I highly recommend him without reservation.

It was great. The owner did the work with the help of an assistant. They were very professional; fair priced and did a good job. No bugs anymore. He answered some questions he had about ants; I was concerned that we really might have some really bad ants that were eating the wood. He told me what they were and that they weren't doing that. All in all I was very pleased and I would use them again for sure.

Ernest was fabulous. We had a family of rats living in our attic and Waterloo quickly and thoroughly got rid of our problem. They showed up within the time frame and were done within minutes. We didn't have to wait around or wonder how long they'd be in the house. We'd definitely use them again and recommend to our friends.

I called Waterloo Pest Control after seeing termites in my laundry room. Ernest came out at the scheduled time to look over everything and give us an estimate. On the day of the work he was here on time and worked hard for several hours, treating the entire house and perimeter. His work was extremely neat and he was kind and professional during the entire service. After he completed treating the house he sat down with my husband and me and discussed in detail exactly what he had done, as well as what we should expect in the next week or so post-treatment. He answered all of our questions, scheduled a two-week follow-up with us, and reassured us that if we had any other questions or concerns that we could contact him and he would get right back with us. Ernest did a nice job of filling in all the drilled spots in our patio tile as well as the concrete breezeway walk. He drilled in the same holes that the previous homeowners had drilled years ago to lessen the chance of broken bits (which saved us money) and so that we wouldn't have the extra drill marks as well. Ernest did a great job and his price was competitive with other agencies. I would definitely use his services again if needed and would recommend him to anyone who wants an exterminator that is fair and takes the time to talk to you before, during, and after the work is done.

I called Waterloo after hearing noise in the attic and finding an opening in the siding under the eave of my house. We had used his services last summer to "varmit proof" after an animal died in the attic. The entrance this time was the same used last summer. Mr. Vasquez came and sprinkled a deterrent powder in the attic to try to discourage entrance. This did not work. Several days went by. I suggested trapping and he used my large trap which over many days caught three possums and one raccoon. The raccoon was probably just passing by as the noises were more consistant with possums. I kept telling him that I continued to hear noise and gnawing sounds. The cage was large and it would take several days to catch one. I'd rebait only to find the bait gone but no animal. When one was caught, he would take the cage, not leave a replacement, and not return with my empty cage until the next day. This meant that there was added lag time between catching. I went through an entire jar of peanut butter. I final asked that he put a replacement trap out. His trap was smaller and immediately caught a young possum. I was then sure that my trap wasn't working because the animals weren't heavy enough to spring the trap, but Mr. Vasquez wanted me to keep baiting my larger trap. I was getting very frustrated with all the delays while I continued to hear noise in the attic wondering what kind of damage they might be inflicting. I called and asked that he use his smaller trap instead of mine. I never heard back from him and he never showed up. I finally borrowed a smaller trap from a neighbor and caught three more possums in three days. When I climbed up into the attic, I saw that Mr. Vasquez had just put wire mesh over the original holes last summer and the possums easily pulled it off and pretty much decimated the siding in that area. I had to get a carpenter to repair the damage. Mr. Vasquez did not even try to contact me to see how things were going. I know that six possums could be considered an unusual amount to deal with but that is Waterloo's business and they should act in a timely manner. Mr. Vasquez is very nice and friendly, but I called not due to his personality but because I had a problem that I wanted help with. I don't feel that I got that help. We originally went to them because of the high rating on Angie's List. If you use this company, you will need to be very persistent. If you have them "varmit proof" be smarter than I was and get up in the attic to check the quality of the work when it's complete.

As an "extreme" animal lover (vegan diet), I was quite chagrined that I was going to have to deal with pest control people at all; however, I was losing sleep and most of all, worried about the integrity of my house as the creatures were gnawing ferociously every morning around 4 a.m. When I called to schedule an estimate, they were able to come out the very next morning. They called when they were on their way and again when they were actually at my house. I liked the way Ernest asked me questions about the animals and then actually listened to what I told him regarding their behavior (which dispels the "I know everything attitude" that I have encountered in some service people in the past). He assessed the property and the attic quickly and when he told me he was pretty sure it was squirrels, not rats, I was surprised. I did not want any of the squirrels trapped and killed, especially since, as he said, they were probably nesting. Basically, he installed a one-way trap door on the egress point at the chimney base and over several days, the squirrels began to leave--they could get out, but not back in. What most impressed me is that Ernest came back over the course of a few weeks, checking on the progress of the exiting squirrels. He had also set rat traps (as an added measure in case there were rats but, thankfully, nothing got caught in those traps) and he checked on those each time. Not until he was sure the squirrels were completely gone from the attic did he and Roy schedule a time to seal areas on the outside of the house where the squirrels could have potentially gotten back in. Given that he came back on several occasions to make sure the job was completely done, was consistently polite and professional, and gives one the impression that he does indeed understand the critters he is tasked to removing--17 plus years' experience--I am giving him a POH nomination :-) An aside: I'm not sure if the baby squirrels in my backyard are exceptionally cute, as squirrels go, or if I feel that way because each of them cost me about $175 apiece; but, these are the most humorous squirrels I've yet to encounter, so I feel blessed that they were able to get out of the attic and now reside happily in my backyard. Watching wrens bicker over nesting sites or watching young squirrels explore trees acrobatically makes for a lovely scene to view while enjoying one's morning coffee.

'General' Ernest was our fearless leader in the war against the squirrels! After surveying the attic and sealing all the other possible entry points with metal flashing, Ernest set up a perimeter around the entry hole to allow the squirrels to leave easily, but not return. But the squirrels were persistent. After multiple trips to our house over 2 weeks time, including late on one Friday evening, he was able to seal the final opening. He was always very pleasant and easily reached by phone. Highly recommend.

I bid the project out to three recommended Angie's List pest control providers. Waterloo Pest Control's price was the middle price; not the least expensive but the most thorough. I had Waterloo perform the services on March ST, 2011. Since then Ernest Vasquez has communicated with me daily and informed me of his results. I would definitely recommend Waterloo Pest Control to anyone based on my experience.

Ernest was very thorough and explained everything to me and also showed me where the areas of concern were. He described what he would do, quoted a price, and returned two days later to perform the service. Throughout he was prompt, efficient, and courteous.
