They did a good job. Very professionally done, and good price. Would use them again.
Description of Work: Very basic cedar fence installation. Hauled off the old one. They installed a custom cutout and hog wire drainage area for a drainage channel to pass underneath the fence.

They were very responsive. I had asked them to give me several quotes. One was for posts made of wood, which was for about $2500. Then I asked them for a quote for posts made of metal, which was for about $3000. It was a little on the higher side. I didn't have them do any work. They were nice and friendly. They came out quickly. I didn't have a problem with them. I haven't decided if I'm going to contract them or not. I got several other quotes from other companies as well.

I don't have time to go into detail ~ please accept my comments stated above!
Description of Work: They removed existing wood privacy fence and built a new fence. They did everything they agreed to do in timely manner. They subbed out the work to a man and his son ~ it was not their crew as I assumed it would be. But the man did good work and we are pleased with the results. I would use Viking Fence again.

Dan Cullison at Viking Fence was very professional and thorough in his bidding for replacement of part of our fenced back yard. Although the price was quite a bit more than 3 other bidders, the materials used were much better and the installation was very well done. We only completed a third of the total area for now, but it is the area we see daily from our den and it's beautiful! We could not be happier with the way our back yard looks against the stunning fence. We do plan to complete the fence in stages; one side and gate after Christmas, with a spring completion of all remaining. We will contact Dan at Viking for the rest of the project; we highly recommend both he and the company.

Their price was reasonable. They were on time, very professional and informative. They answered all questions without appearing we were bothering them. They were very forthcoming and made suggestions that were worthy of listening to. We were very impressed with them.
Description of Work: We used the services of Viking Fence recently to get a quote, we are going to use them but we have not used them to date. They came out sometime last week to provide the quote. The quote was for railings on a new deck and a metal fence.

They were great. We had researched a couple of options. They were cost competitive and were very attentive in terms of coming back out and fixing some minor things that weren't done right the first time. There were times when they had come out a bit too early. There were also tiny little things along the way that would have been nice if they had told us about it ahead of time. There were no major problems, though. We would definitely recommend them to other people.

He was quick but he did not listen what I wanted an estimate for. I wanted an estimate on both of their kinds of boards of fencing but he only gave me a quote for his premium board fencing. I am not pleased when people don't listen to what I ask them to do and try to up sell me like I am some stupid woman. He was on time and courteous but he just did not give me the estimate for what I had asked. I would probably consider using them again in the future since they are probably one of the best ones around here.

I explained to the person answering my phone call that it was a very small job, probably only 20 feet wrought iron and a gate; but very significant in my dream for this little side garden area. They said no job was too small and would be out. They did come out on the appointed time. I assured them I would understand if they realized now that it was indeed too small for them. Again they assured me no job was too small and would be back to me within the week with a quote. Didn't happen. Gave them a couple weeks. Left a vm msg to please update me. Never heard from them. When a potential customer repeatedly acknowledges understanding and acceptance that a job might be too smal for them, don't commit and then stand them up. They lost out on three other not so small jobs my friends came to me about, even knowing nothing had been done as far as workmanship. Integrity and reliability are equally important.

Estimator was very prompt in arriving to discuss job and submit the bid. Scheduling a time for the work crew to come out became a big challenge. It is standard operating procedure for fencing companies to try and schedule as many jobs as possible in one area vs having their work crews drive back and forth all over Travis and Williamson counties. It is also pretty standard for them to prioritize the bigger jobs and then fill in openings in the schedule with smaller residential jobs. I suppose this is reasonable. In retrospect, I should have communicated to the foreman that I needed at least 36 hrs notice before the crews would be on site. I live alone and have a pet that must be kenneled if the fence is down. I usually leave very early in the day for work and often do not return until late that evening so it is imperative that I am given notice of at least 36 hrs so that I can make arrangements. A call the evening before is not acceptable or reasonable for busy people. After a few times, this really frustrated me - hence, I should have made it very clear up front. Once we were able to set a time, the crew came out and were very efficient in tearing down the old fence and setting the new posts. Unfortunately, when I arrived home that evening at 9:30pm, I found the neatly stacked tower of remnants of my fence sitting on my lawn. Not only is this bad for the grass, it is justification for the Home Owner's Assoc to cite me for a violation - which they did. Viking was apologetic, agreed that this was not the normal process of removal for them, and they took a small amt off of the final bill as a goodwill measure - which I appreciated. The old fence was removed in 48 hrs when they came back out to install the remainder of the fence. Overall, the fence looks very nice as they use great materials (cedar lumber) which should wear very well. There is one minor defect in one of the gates. Once the weather moved into the high 90's, the gate/fencing expanded and there wasn't enough clearance to swing the gate open - which was pretty snug when it was first installed. It should have had a bit more clearance to allow for expansion due to hot weather. The lumber is dry, it has just shifted/expanded a bit. I took a chisel and routed out 1/2" channel to allow for the closing mechanism to move freely and clear the gate. Problem solved. The second gate functions just fine. Be very specific when telling them when the job can be done and how much notice you need for changes in their schedule - if you want to allow for that. If I had it to do over again, I would hold their feet to the fire on the original agreed upon time - and that's it. Other than the scheduling, they did a good job at a very reasonable price for the materials used.

The Viking estimator came out and spent quite some time with me, walking the property to finalize plans for the fence and gates...and then was very patient as my desires for the work request morphed. Once we settled on a reasonable price, I was on their calendar. The crew who constructed the fence were extremely hardworking (especially in 100+ degree heat) and did a terrific job. The gentlemen who came out afterward to pour the pad I wanted under one of the gates were equally conscientious and professional. I would (will) hire them again.
Description of Work: Viking removed my old wood privacy fence and replaced it with a red cedar horizontal wood fence, two gates, and a concrete pad under one of the gates.

The service I received from Viking Fence was superb and completely exceeded my expectations. I contacted Viking Fence this summer to request an estimate for approximately 350 linear feet of horizontal cedar fencing with a top cap and two gates. Tom Ransom responded to my request and I could not be happier that he was selected as my Viking Fence representative. His service was exceptional. He walked me through every step of the process to ensure that I was happy with the end result. I interviewed six companies for this project, including Metalink, Allied, ABC, Austex, AAA, and Viking. Three of the six companies bid similar amounts, but of the three Vikings products were far superior. Most fencing companies bid a standard and frac34;and rdquo; rough cedar board with pressure treated posts. Viking is able to offer lower prices on superior products though because they are their own distributor and ndash; which means they cut out the middle-man and save you some cash. Vikings quote included 5/4and rdquo; (e.g. true 1and rdquo; board) cedar planks with one smooth side and cedar posts. I wanted to upgrade to metal posts though after reading some consumer forums online. When I told my Viking rep, Tom, about my decision to upgrade he promptly set out to find the best possible solution that would accommodate my horizontal plank installation. Well, he nailed it and I couldn't be happier with the results. During the construction phase Tom's installation crew arrived on-time and went straight to work. They were very polite and patient whenever I had a question or request. They worked diligently for three days to complete the project and thoroughly cleaned my yard when they were finished. Tom stopped by twice during the construction phase to make sure everything was okay and that I was happy with the work they had done. On the day Tom was unable to stop by in person he phoned to make sure everything was okay. I am so pleased and grateful for the experience I had with Viking Fence. This project was a major investment for me, and I am very happy with the results. My new fence is gorgeous! Viking Fence truly sets the bar for product quality and outstanding service.
Description of Work: New fence installation using 5/4" cedar planks and metal posts. Planks were installed horizontally with a 1/4" gap between each plank. 5/4" cedar cap was installed to finish. Fence runs 350' and sits 6' tall. Two exit doors were also installed - one facing a back alley and another entering to the front yard.

They were punctual to come out and estimate. John was positive and told me how they would do the job. The estimate came within a day and they worked with us on lowering the costs based on other estimates we had received. We chose them to do the work due to cost, the fact that they would do what we asked, could also do the handrail and were willing to negotiate. They seemed focused on the customer. They came out within a day as told us- showed up by 8:30 and worked hard. Oscar and his team were efficient and courteous. There was some miscommunication- Oscar didn't know about the railing but set about to do it anyway. We also had him move some posts which wasn't too much of an issue. The cleaned up well and did the job in 3 days as promised. John wasn't around to answer questions while the job was going on so that was frustrating but all in all a very good experience. Hey, they did what they said they would do in the time that they promised with a good price-- hard to find these days!

He was prompt on coming by for his estimate appointment. He explained everything they would do and when the work would be performed. The intallation date was pushed back a week, but the work was completed in a timely manner without me having to take time off of work to be here with them. After the install, we noticed that one of the poles that was to be replaced was not, so we called and someone was out within the next few days to replace it. It was a very good experience overall and we were pleased with the work. We will have them do more work for us in the future.

Incredible service from this company. Within 2 hours of my call, Garrett Limmer w/the Access Control Installation division (cell 983.1065) was at my house and determined that our battery was bad. The initial work was very poor and unsightly. After about 3 months, including a BBB complaint and a scathing report at Angie's List, the work was redone. However, my membership at Angie's list had expired, and I could not go back in and amend my report. Viking is under new ownership. The new owner contacted me about the very poor report. I told him about how the job had been redone, but I was no longer a member of Angie's List. So, I just renewed my membership at Angie's List to reflect the fact that the problem was fixed. In fact, the new owner, as proof of the quality of his work, sent a team out to repair 2 gates at his cost. The team showed up on time, did excellent work, finished promptly, and cleaned up after themselves. I think the new owner of Viking is serious about providing a top-notch product and I am happy to report that I am now a completely satisfied customer.

The job took much longer to perform than they'd originally estimated because the field supervisor skipped town with no word. So, what was supposed to take several weeks took nearly 1.5 months to complete. We had problems with the fence panels shifting so our locks wouldn't work. After a few attempts, we got the panels secured but still occasionally experience problems with the locks. Installation had been completed towards the former part of this year, so it's frustrating to still experience issues but the last attempt to fix the problem has thus far worked. Despite this, they are consistently responsive, professional and always prompt and courteous. We'd still use them again; Dean Stockwell is the guy to ask for!

They sent out a contractor for the job, his name was Lupe and he was AWESOME. He is a sub for Viking. We did not have a problem with Viking, it was a good experience. Lupe worked really hard and got the job done. He did not take breaks and worked hard the whole time. He did a perfect job, made suggestions for solutions about our toddlers. He was pro active with his work.
