Description of Work: These guys were awesome! They were pretty challenged in dealing with Mother Nature and the rain storms, but they really did a great job! |My house needed the railroad ties/retaining wall replaced. I think the rr ties had been around since the house was built in '74 and I wanted them replaced with a limestone brick retaining wall to match the back yard. Senon came in with the best quote out of the 7 contractors I got quotes from. There were two others that were very fair quotes and four with ridiculously high quotes. The reason I chose Senon was he and I discussed a foundation issue I was having (among other things) and he offered a solution to the problem opposed to just covering it up. The steps leading up to our front door were sinking. Senon said essentially our steps were cement over dirt and that was the reason. He suggested to dig out the dirt and replace it with rebar and concrete to stop them from sinking so I had him fix the steps. He covered the steps with limestone to match the retaining wall. Everything looks awesome and my house is no longer the eyesore on the block! Love my yard!!!!

Description of Work: The retaining wall in the back of our yard was built in Spring this year and then extended to wrap the rest of the yard in October. Due to weather and work load, work started much later than initially planned (delayed by almost 2 months causing a bit frustration on our end), but was completed promptly and efficiently once started. The masons are truly some of the hardest working people one will meet. |Concerns/changes all go directly through Senan himself, so that the masons take orders only from the guy in charge; the end piece of our wall was laid straight vs. in a turn, then promptly corrected once I phoned Senan. |This was the 2nd time we worked with him and his crew and are considering for future projects. |

Description of Work: .We live overseas and by necessity have to make initial contact with service providers by e-mail. It is not just Senon's Masonry but in my experience most companies with websites do not monitor them. If they decide for whatever reason (not in work area, not their specialty, job too small/big, etc.) they don't want to take the job they simply don't respond. I will report back if they respond. Update: Senon sent me an e-mail on February 15th and we arranged to meet in April. I will update at that time.

Senon and his team are very professional, very hard working and the work they performed is exceptional! Senon himself came out every day to check on things and talk to us. He was very responsive when we had questions and did exactly what he said he would. I highly recommend Senon's Masonry and I hope to do more business with him in the future.
Description of Work: Senon's team moved our existing sprinkler heads, set the foundation for our new patio (via concrete), installed stone for the patio surface on top of the concrete and grouted between the stones. Afterward they even came and cleaned the patio!

Senon and his crew did an outstanding job. Great quality. Very attractive design. His continual contact and communication throughout the project was very important to me. Without reservation, I would recommend Senon's Masonry! So glad I found them through Angie's List because I wanted this project done and had no idea who to hire. Note: I am getting lots of nice comments from people visiting the house.

I had recently hired a different stone mason to put in a dry stack retaining wall. The contractor was a little cheaper, but I the work would have rated a "C". So, I looked a little harder at Angie's lists reports and found Senon, and looked at samples of his work. I called and explained what I wanted. My needs were a little different because I wanted some stone that matched our property better, rather than typical limestone. He persevered to find the stone that I wanted. All in all, I was very happy with the result. Things he did that I appreciated: * removed all the old stuff (included in price) * constructed a solid foundation and internal construction block base * laid the stones with high quality * cleaned up the work area when finished. I would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: I had two brick columns at the entrance of my home that were in disrepair, one knocked over by UPS. Senon removed the existing columns, and built two new columns, with an integrated mailbox in one, from a natural stone. For a reasonable additional cost, he also took down and replaced a section of split rail fencing.

I chose Senon after getting quotes from three other masons. His was the highest quote but I was impressed by how thoroughly he went over what the house needed, how he would do it, and I generally felt confident he would do an A job whereas the others didn't inspire as much confidence. I was worried that the new mortar wouldn't match the old, and when it seemed a bit darker he pointed out that it needs time to set and dry, and assured me in writing that if I wasn't satisfied in 30 days he'll come back and fix it so I am satisfied.
Description of Work: Entire stone facade house re-pointed (holes filled, cracked mortar dug out and replaced, whole chunk of wall taken down and rebuilt). About 10sq ft of wall built-up to fill in where an old window was replaced and a smaller new one put in.

Mr. Senon was professional and helpful in our meeting with him. I think he would have been very good to work with and his work likely would have been quite good. But his bid price was significantly higher than his competitors and the one we selected (the mid-price) also did outstanding masonry and hardscaping of our front yard.
Description of Work: Mr. Senon was very responsive to our request for a bid. Unfortunately, his bid was considerably higher than his competitors.

Senon's Masonry was the least expensive of three quotes. After I accepted his quote, he said that it would take a few days to get the rock and come to do the work. He also had to finish up another job he was on. I thought he was going to arrive "early" on the morning I expected him. (My definition of "early" is 8 or 8:30. When he didn't show up by about 9:30, I called him. It turned out that the supplier of the flagstone was out of the product. Senon apologized for the delay and for not calling me immediately. That was on a Wednesday. He wasn't able to secure the stone until the following Tuesday. He did keep me informed via email and phone of when the stone would finally arrive. They actually didn't get started until Wednesday, late morning. Once they got here and got going, the work progressed smoothly. I did note that they were going to pour the concrete and insert the stones directly into the wet concrete without using any type of rebar or remesh. I had a roll of wire fencing that I gave them to use as reinforcement in the concrete. The stone/cement "patio" for the trash carts was not part of the original quote. When Senon came out to visit the work on Thursday, I asked him what it would cost to go ahead and do the "patio". He said that it would be less expensive if they would do it as part of the current job, as opposed to coming back at a later time. So I had them built the "patio." It is something I thought I would do myself at a later time, but it was more expedient to go ahead and get it done now. They finished up with everything by Friday evening, and then came back Saturday morning to clean up. They even moved some of the unused stones into other locations on my property. I thoroughly like the work they did, and would definitely use them again. The "B" in punctuality is because I'm an early riser and expect other people to get started early in the morning, or let me know immediately if they can't.
Description of Work: Senon's Masonry built a raised flower bed - 12 inches tall by 8 foot long by 2 feet wide - out of limestone. They also dug out two old 10x10 foot porch/patios in front of our entry way, that I had created years ago with limestone rock (without concrete) and rebuilt two new patios, using new limestone and cement. They also built a stone and cement "patio" to accommodate our trash and recycling carts, so we don't have to keep them in the garage. This last project was more complex because of the double slope of the ground next to our home. It drops 2 feet in 8 linear feet one way, and 1 foot in five linear feet the other way. They completed the total task in three days, and then spent the morning of the 4th day cleaning up. Everything looks Fantastic!

Although it took longer than I anticipated I am extremely happy with the finished work. His crew cleaned up each day and when finished left the yard very clean. His crew are very good Masons. He would be the only one I would call if it had to do with stone or rock.
Description of Work: Senon tore down our old elevated wood deck and built us an elevated rock deck with rock stairs and walk pathways around both sides of the house. He added a terraced walkway in front of the house and installed 2 borders along plant beds.

He was professional, kept me up to date with any set backs, and did beautiful work. I had several quotes, only 2 of them (including Senon's) included grading to account for a water drainage issue I have in my backyard. Out of all of the quotes, his was in the middle range, and I feel really good about the work he has done. We did have a large rain since the patio was installed and there doesn't appear to be any problem with drainage. I am very happy with his work and highly recommend him. Should I have any needs for stonework in the future, I would use his company again without hesitation.

We live on a slope and have a retaining wall around 1/2 of our front yard. We also live on a corner, and a few weeks ago the corner of our wall was demolished by a truck that took the turn too fast. Senon's estimate was the most reasonable, and Senon himself was very personable and professional when we met with him. Originally, we wanted him to repair the existing wall and extend it across another part of the yard for aesthetic reasons. He agreed to do this, but informed us that he would recommend using recycled limestone because it would match better and was very up front about the fact that this would cost more than new limestone. We agreed to that. He brought samples by, and they just weren't quite right. So he brought some additional samples of stone that was a different color, but that he said that he had gotten a deal on it and would redo the entire wall with a mix of that stone and new limestone. The price he gave on redoing the entire wall was extremely reasonable; so we agreed. It took a while to get started because Senon had a death in his family the week the job was supposed to start, which is understandable. He called us and made sure we knew what his plans were. His crew showed up when he said they would. Once the job was begun, they worked very fast. The work was beautiful, the crew was polite, and they cleaned up very thoroughly when they finished. We are very pleased with the results and feel that we got a good value for our money. Our neighbors have been very complimentary of the new wall as well. I would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Originally, the job was to repair and extend a damaged retaining wall along the property line in front of our house. For aesthetic reasons, after working with Senon, we opted to replace the entire retaining wall, which extends around 1/2 our property (we live on a corner).

My backyard was sloping quite a lot. I leveled the yard by creating an upper part and lower part. I needed a retaining wall built to hold the dirt in the upper part and prevent it from sliding to the lower part. The wall dimensions were 55 feet length and 17 inch height. I put the concrete foundation and got the stone myself but the type of stone (Oklahoma Chop) was too irregular for my masonry skill to attempt it. I contacted Senon's masonry and he was very professional and responsive. He quoted a price over the phone which I thought was a bit high (hence B for pricing). We negotiated for him to stop by and evaluate the project since I just needed his labor and skill (I purchased all other material). He showed up on time as promised. I had a deadline of 4/20 for the wall to be built and he was able to squeeze me in on Saturday 4/16. He had four of his employees to come and do the job and they were professionals too. It took them only about 5 hours or so. Moreover, I needed about .4 ton more of the stones and he offered one of his guys to go pick it up and I just paid for it. This was at no additional cost over the negotiated price. Senon also provided all the cement for the wall. I am very happy with how the wall looks. It has a sharp 90 degree turn and a nice smooth curve. The crew cleaned up after themselves. Senon provided a few more tips to help prevent the wall from collapsing in the future and his crew put in a weed block tarp that I purchased. The price may be a bit higher but you do get an awesome quality for it and I am happy I went with Senon's Masonry. I will choose him again in the future to build a stone pedestal for the Big Green Egg grill and possibly for some updating of our fireplace.

I wanted to get the retaining walls (tree and flower beds) and the repair work done in advance of some Spring landscaping. I was interested in the possibility of adding facade stone to portions of the front of the house but only if the person had done it in the past and knew the process. Senon was extremely responsive and punctual and provided a bid for the services (materials and labor) at the time he promised. He had experience with facade work and had a great idea for adding some trim work that would make the transition from new to old stone look more professional. The start date for the project was pushed back a few days due to some slippage on his previous project, but he kept me informed and once the date was finalized, they were on time. The crew was extremely professional and did a great job of minimizing wear and tear on the yard. They cleaned up their materials each night and didn't leave any trash. Senon informed me that they had to purchase and additional adhesive to make the facade process work, but explained why and I was comfortable with the add-on cost. The final product is great. The retaining walls are very sturdy and the facade really changed the appearance of the house for the better. I will use Senon again in the future and would recommend him to others with upcoming projects.
Description of Work: 1. Constructed short retaining walls around seven large oak trees. 2. Constructed short retaining wall along a 35' long flower bed. 3. Added thin facade stone to front of house to cover exposed foundation areas with a decorative lip to separate new facade from existing stone. 4. Repaired cracks in existing stone walks and larger retaining walls.

I was primarily interested in him doing masonry. He didn't actually do any work for me, but he's a great mason. He was prompt and his communication was excellent. He followed up well and did an excellent job on the bid. A lot of people don’t do so well with the follow-up. The bid was for about $5000. His prices were reasonable for the quality of work that he did. His ideas for designs were really good too. I just decided to take a different direction. I thought I would save on some of the labor for the work on flowerbeds by doing it myself. I would have used him had I decided to do any masonry work. I had gotten his name from somebody else that he had done work for. I knew that he did good work, and then when I found his portfolio I was absolutely sure of it. He has a great portfolio.
