I had originally called on 9/4/14 and left a message with name, phone number (twice) and details that we were interested in getting a quote for a bathroom remodel. I was remiss in not waiting long enough for a response and contributed a negative review for this company. Since then, we made an appointment for a visit and estimate, which is in process. To this point, they have been prompt, punctual and responsive. We are weighing all estimates and will choose a contractor in the next day or two. I will update this post at that time.

We apologize for this inconvenience to this customer. Tim Hoff and I have reviewed our phone log, both incoming and out going. We can find no record of an attempted contact by this customer. We have been experiencing an extremely high volume of calls and it is possible we made a mistake. However, I would think it would be extremely unlikely that we did not get a call recorded that came in from a customer more than once. I have no explanation, other than an apology. I have no way to contact this customer at this time or I would do that immediately. Please email your contact info to pwhudspeth@hotmail.com or call 512-442-9717. Thanks, Paul Hudspeth

I attempted to get estimates from four different companies. Rx Home Solutions was one of the two that actually showed up to talk with me and were willing to take on a tiny bathroom remodel in an older house. They were accommodating, punctual, hardworking and friendly. However, mistakes were made. Five small holes were made in my adjoining living room wall during the demolition. One tile was used that didn't match any of the others. A chrome bathtub drain was installed which didn't match all of the brushed nickel hardware I'd purchased. The shower valve went from cold over to about an 110 degree angle instead of all the way to hot at an 180 degree angle. The vanity hovered about a quarter inch off the floor. Plus there's a small chip in the bottom of my bathtub. There are some other very minor imperfections that would probably only bother a stickler like me. Except the chip in the bathtub, which may not have been their fault, the mistakes were fixed as much as possible. Unfortunately I'll have to repaint my living room as the paint color I used before has been discontinued. I won't use Rx Home Solutions again but I think I'm somewhat persnickety.

This customer had discussed some of these issues with Rx Home Solutions and some she had not discussed. Any and all of these items can and would be corrected easily except for the bath tub chip, which she states we probably didn't cause. We went back and altered the cabinet because the floor/slab was not level. We altered the toe kick and cabinet to compensate for the floor problem. The drain kit did not match originally and we replaced and install one with matching finish while we were there working on this project. The faucet handle was adjusted at the customers request, because the water did not get as hot as she wanted. When tile was being installed one piece of tile had been placed in a box by the supplier that was a slightly different color than the others. We did not realize this problem at the time, but we did remove and replace the tile when the customer noticed and brought this to our attention. There were holes made in the wall accidentally during the demolition. This can happen in this process. We repaired the holes. The customer had stated she wanted to do the painting. Painting was not part of this project. We assumed that painting issues had been properly addressed. No additional charges were made for any thing that was altered or changed. We were unaware of any of the other issues, or we would have corrected them. There was damage to the toilet by the shipping company. We had to suspend work on the project and return at a later date to complete the work for this project when a new toilet was obtained. We returned a third time to address the floor not being level. We have returned twice at no charge for items beyond our control, hopefully that demonstrates we would return to paint the living room wall, for something that was more our responsibility than some of the other items. We work very hard to leave a product that the customer is happy with and will enjoy. We were under the impression this customer was satisfied or we would not have stopped working. We are more than willing to address any issues this customer would like to discuss.
I received several quotes for my kitchen remodel. Out of all the quotes, their quote was the most honest and transparent which helped me to determine the labor cost of my project. My project started on May 12th at 7:30 a.m. RX showed up everyday at 7:30 a.m. like clock work, worked all day and cleaned up the construction area each night which was really appreciated because living through a remodel is hard enough without living in a constant mess. The owner, Paul, was always responsive to my emails, texts and calls. He made sure the project kept moving forward and that the work was going well. Paul also liaised with the granite vendor, tile vendor and the light fixture vendors to make sure my supplies were going to be available for the remodel. Due to an issue with a tile vendor, my remodel was not done until almost August, but that is all on the tile company. Paul and his crew made sure my kitchen was usable even during the delay. I cannot say enough good things regarding their work and their professional demeanor. My new kitchen is beautiful and functional. I highly recommend RX Home Solutions for your next remodeling project.
Description of Work: Removed kitchen counter tops, cabinets, flooring and fur down. Prepared, stained and installed new solid wood cabinets. Installed under cabinet lighting and appliances. Installed porcelain tiled floors and travertine back splash. Removed and replaced base boards. Coordinated installation of granite countertops with under mount sink. Painted kitchen.

The guys showed up exactly on time, were extremely cordial and polite.
Description of Work: Repaired a hole in a ceiling, checked all windows for proper opening and repaired as necessary,, several small plumbing jobs.
Rx Home Solutions is a company that prides itself in performing the work in a timely fashion and at a reasonable price. We were very pleased with Lamar and Jeff. They were prompt, respectful and took pride in a job well done. Paul is a great person to work with. Always available to answer questions and to keep the project moving forward. This was an unusually hard project because the bathroom is upstairs at the back of the house. All the tile had to be cut outside, so it was many, many times up and down the stairs. They put protective covers on all the furniture and rugs in adjoining rooms, hallways and stairs. John was on hand to bring last minute items, run errands, etc. He always had a friendly greeting and comment. We have many more projects to be done and will definitely call Rx first.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced all tile in master bath. including shower and around garden tub. Installed new fixtures, replaced all hinges and door knobs, installed new hardware on all cabinets, including hinges, moved electrical outlets, updated all the lighting and painted all walls and woodwork. They also repaired a large spot in the garage ceiling and a damaged place in the wood trim outside.

We take the happiness and satisfaction of our customers very serious. This review is 99% false. We did provide this person a written estimate in a timely manner and that is as far as the truth goes. WE DID NOT PERFORM ANY WORK FOR THIS PERSON. This person requested that we start this project almost immediately. We could not meet this persons time frame and was completely honest about that fact. This potential customer replied by email with some type of incoherent rhetoric about the "military responds on their on time frame" and they do not care about others schedules. The potential time frame for us to start this project for this lady was approximately 6 weeks. She stated on the telephone that was not quick enough and hung up on us. This person was a little frightening and this evaluation should be removed. This person's review was totally false, we did no work for this person. This person paid us no money. I hired Rx Home Solutions to remodel a small bathroom, which included a tub to shower conversion, and to repair some water damaged drywall. Tim, who completed the initial bid inspection, was the only bidder to suggest (correctly, I believe) a roof leak as the likely source of our water damage. In addition, he provided some well thought comments on the proposed changes to the bathroom. The bid paperwork, while initially sent to an incorrect email address, was promptly resent to the correct address once I followed up via phone call. The bid was reasonable, and all questions I had regarding the process and tasks were promptly answered in detail. In fact, I asked a lot of questions along the way, and everyone on the Rx team was willing to explain why they did things in a certain way, always to my satisfaction. The bathroom remodel is great, everything looks awesome and works well. The entire staff was punctual throughout the process, kept the work area clean, and kept me well informed of their progress and of the issues encountered along the way. I couldn't ask for anything more in a remodel project.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel, tub to shower conversion, drywall repair.
Immediate response when contacted--and very good follow-up and responses. Excellent coordination w/ City of Austin for permit and required inspections. The work required electrical work around the large window area and was completed by an excellent electrician also coordinated by RX Home Solutions. Completing the project also included some wood work and painting ( inside and outside) --excellent work!! Workers arrived on time; professional; very good clean-up. Project was completed in full in 5 days!

Our master bathroom and master closet remodel took approximately three weeks. I have a home office; therefore, I was at home nearly the entire time that Rx did their work on the bathroom. They arrived and started every single day when they said they would arrive. There were no slackers among their work crew. They cleaned after themselves every day. Notwithstanding extensive demolition, they kept the dust and debris contained in a small area. They finished the job when they said they would finish the job. They worked seamlessly with suppliers (many of whom we had chosen before contracting with Rx) and the floor contractor. They were open to "last minute" changes to design and paint colors and happily made the changes with little additional cost. It was apparent from their work and the answers to our many questions that they were very knowledgeable about their craft and we incorporated nearly all of their recommendations. There were no new cost or expense surprises. The new master bathroom and closet exceeded our expectations. Oh, and our dog loved them. We have used Rx on smaller jobs since the master bathroom remodel and we will continue to use them in the future for our kitchen and other jobs.

Most of the work was ok, workers good. However, the owner Paul is a very rude man. My guest cottage in on pier and beam, and when Rx provided me the estimate, there was not any mention that the laminate floor could not be installed correctly due to the house being on pier and beam. Upon the owner Paul coming over to address some issues I had with areas of the floor had small gaps and in places was not totally flat. The owner informed me " nothing is done 100% right not even in brand new houses. So, if you want any remodeling done 100% correctly, don't hire this company. Then the owner states the following "I bet the sink does not even have a "pee trap" (I don't even know what that is) and said, this outhouse smelled like pee when he came in, unless one of his men had just used the bathroom (outhouse, meaning my guest cottage). If they would have told me it would have been better to have carpet put down, that the laminate flooring could not be put in right and that it was a cheap product, I would have gone with carpet. A part of the flooring has already come off, and no one is even living in the "outhouse"!! I am sure there will be rude response from Paul. But, instead of working with a customer, he comes prepared to fight. I know if I called, they would probably come out and fix, but I do not want this company on my property.

I contacted Rx Home Solutions about replacing a glass shower enclosure, replacing and painting a 15-lite metal door leading from my master bedroom to the patio, and replacing a bathroom vent fan. Tim Hoff called me to schedule an appointment, and I asked whether the company does small jobs in northwest Austin. He answered affirmatively. When he arrived on November 26, he said his company does not replace glass shower doors, and he recommended replacing the entire shower, a service Rx Home Solutions provides. I said I wanted only to replace the shower enclosure, and he recommended two glass companies Rx Home Solutions uses when they replace showers. After gathering information about the door and the bathroom vent fan, he left. As of December 10, I have not received an estimate. He wasted my time and his. Since I work during the week, time is extremely valuable to me. I could have spent this time getting an estimate from a provider who was interested in doing what I needed done.

The root cause of this poor review is we made a clerical error in the email address for this person. We attempted to provide an estimate to this person ( she was not and never has been a CUSTOMER that we provided work for) on December 2, 2013. That was two working days after we met with this person at their home. Two letters in this persons sir name were accidentally reversed when processing the paper work. This was an error made by US and was totally OUR FAULT. We became aware of this review on 12/15 2013 and this person was contacted that day. The following email was sent that same day (12/15/13) via our Quickbooks software using the persons corrected email address : Dear [member name removed] : I received notice from Angie's List this morning (12/15/13) that you had submitted a review that outlined your displeasure with us. In the review you stated you had never received an estimate and that we would not provide you with an estimate for your glass shower enclosure. My records indicated that we had submitted the estimate by e-mail on 12/2/13. After I spoke with you by phone, I was able to determine that we had made a clerical error in the spelling of your last name and in your e-mail address. We apologize for sending this estimate to the wrong e-mail address. I also apologize for spelling your name incorrectly. When we set the appointment on 11/26/13, to provide you with a free estimate, there were several items we knew we would be providing an estimate for. We do a lot of tile and shower repairs. We did not realize that replacing the glass for the shower was the repair that was needed for the shower. We do not complete the glass component portion of a shower for any project that would include that task. We are not able to do all things for all situations. We try to communicate those limitations to potential customers instead of attempting to complete a task we do not possess the skills to complete. Handling glass of this nature is highly specialized and dangerous to all parties involved if not completed properly. I certainly wish you had called us to correct the situation that had disappointed you. It is totally our fault. However, this situation could have been corrected hopefully to your satisfaction, immediately if you had given us a quick phone call. However, I do understand that is not your responsibility. We apologize as well for as you stated "wasting your time". The attached estimate is the estimate we attempted to send to you on 12/2/13. We hope you get your projects completed and have a good holiday season. Sincerely, Paul Hudspeth Rx Home Solutions, LLC 512-442-9717 We realize potential customers are obtaining estimates from multiple contractors. Unfortunately we do not sell every estimate we submit. Our sales to estimate ratio is about 40%. Some potential customers respond even when they select another contractor, thanking us for our estimate. However, about 90 % of the people that select other contractors, do not respond to us. We do not make any follow up phone calls to try and "talk " potential customers into our services. We do not want to come across as "pushy" or as a "pest". For that reason, we do not contact individuals that never respond to us. I would never want them to be made to feel uncomfortable and I personally hate to be contacted by some one on the phone trying to sell me something. The facts this person presented in the above review are not totally accurate. This person received a free estimate from Rx Home Solutions. She had not received the formal written estimate due to a clerical error, but she had received a verbal price on the day of the meeting - 11/26/13. I am truly sorry this lady was upset. The mistake that was made was not this lady's fault. However, it could have been corrected much sooner if she had taken minute to contact us by phone. We provide between 500 and 600 written estimates per year. We try and email those estimates within three business days from the day we meet with potential customers. We are not always perfect and do not always make the goal of 3 days. If you are a potential customer, please help us serve you better and give us a phone call if something or someone does not meet your expectations.

I was very happy with this company. I was called back quickly and someone came out that same day to give me an estimate. I later received a written estimate that was even lower because I changed to a type of tile that didn't require sealing. They kept in touch with me about when they would arrive and showed up when they said they would and arrived on time every day. They moved my refrigerator and stove to accomplish the installation. The work they did was excellent and everyone was friendly and helpful. They cleaned up very well and didn't leave any mess.

They were very clean. They taped everything up, and every day they removed all of the debris. They were very courteous and friendly. They were knowledgeable and confident in their work. In the whole remodel, the thing I was most nervous about was the support beam. I brought a lot of contractors out to look at the support beam, but the project manager for RX Home Solutions seemed to understand the structure of the house the best. He went into detail about what supported what and how it all came together. He was very upfront and told his crew exactly what they needed to do. He knew framing really well. They got it done, and it is beautiful.
Description of Work: They were here for three days and knocked out walls for a remodel and raised the support beam into the attic. They constructed one post in the interior.

Overall vet satisfied. Bid was quick, Work was excellent, Johnny did most o the work and he was amazing! Only issue would be timeframe, so just be clear how long project will be and agree on a duration. I would use this company again for sure! Brian, Kat
All of the work went very well. The fireplace looks great. They had to raise the top of the cabinets and remove a support on one cabinets to fit the TV. The TV fits great and no one would know anything was done to the cabinets. The lighting fixtures work and look great. The refreshing of the cabinets took a good 10 or more years off and the hardware further updated the cabinets. The outside vent for the cooktop works great. The pedestal sink is attached perfectly to the wall. Great group of folks to work with. They will tell you what they are going to do and do just that. Great Job!
Description of Work: 1. Removed brick from the fireplace and replaced with tile. 2. Reconfigured cabinets to fit a larger TV. Required uninstalling top portion of two cabinets and raising. 3. Installed two new lighting fixtures. 4. Refreshed all cabinets and installed hardware. 5. Installed outside vent for cooktop. 6. Repaired installation (was provided by someone else) of pedestal sink.

They were pretty prompt and they wanted to make sure that the customer is pleased and they did that for the most part. There were couple of little hiccups, but they came back out and redid it and took care of the situation and other than that I don't have a problem. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Rx Home Solutions about a week ago. We were remodeling the bathroom and we took out the tile and redid the tile and put in backer board and redo all the bathroom fixtures as far as the shower is concerned.
I was impressed initially with Tim who came out to give the quote. He was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to give me a rough estimate on the spot. On the first day of work, the owner of Rx stopped by just to check in, which I thought was nice. The guys were all very respectful and would check in with me before turning off breakers, etc. They were also friendly to my dogs, which I (and the dogs) appreciated. They left everything neat and tidy when they left each day. There was a delay with my flooring coming in (Home Depot's fault), but they kept me informed of the status every step of the way. The work itself was very high quality. They had to paint an area of the wall above the range in the kitchen, and I still can't believe how perfectly they matched the color. I think this problem & resolution speaks to how they do business. Somehow one of the tiles in my bathroom got chipped during the course of installing the vent fans. They called me at work to let me know about it, so I wouldn't be surprised when I got home, and assured me that they would make it right. When I got home and saw how small the chip was I realized there was a good chance I wouldn't have immediately noticed it. They found a matching tile and replaced the chipped one the next day, and I can't even remember which one it was, because it blends perfectly. Based on my very positive experience, I would recommend Rx to anyone, and definitely plan to use them again if the need arises.
Description of Work: Rx Home Solutions installed new laminate floors in one room, two bathroom vent fans, an exterior door from the garage to the backyard, an attic ladder door, and a new range hood. They also relocated the washer and dryer connections into the garage (from the interior side of the wall to the garage side). There was a lot of incidental work also -- they built a small platform for my washer to sit on, patched the holes in the drywall where the old W/D connections had been, painted, etc.

He contacted me in a timely manner. He called me ahead of time saying he is coming out but didn’t send me the final estimate. He showed up on time. He came and he was going to work up an estimate but I never heard back. He showed up and wrote things out and he knew what all the prices were and he said he will tell me by the end of the week, but he never contacted me. It is not my job to call them and tell them as I had three or four estimates.
Description of Work: I called Rx Home Solutions, LLC to get an estimate for bathroom remodeling, home repairs and minor repairs around the house but I never got the final estimate.

This customer was contacted and an appointment to meet with this customer was made for Tuesday March, 5 2013. The project was discussed with this gentleman and info provided at the time of our meeting. An estimate was sent via e-mail from our Quick Books software on Thursday 3/7/13. We can not be any more timely than 2 days, we have limited resources and can not act any quicker. We submit several estimates each week and are usually fortunate enough to sale approximately 40% of them. Our policy is to not pester or "hard sale" potential customers. We leave any subsequent contact to the potential customer. I have contacted the customer today (4/10/13) to inform him that the "formal" estimate was sent via email on 3/7/13. The customer stated he would contact Angie's List to inform them of the inaccurate report. I think it is irresponsible of the management of Angie's List to allow FALSE information to be placed on their web site.
We have used Rx Home Solutions for (2) bath room remodels and have recently received proposals for more remodeling as we prepare our home for resale. Tim, Paul and the rest of the team have been excellent to work with on what is typically a painful process. The is very punctual, clean and pleasant. They do quality work, leave the site clean each day and are great to work with. I plan on using Rx to do the remainder of my renovations and would not hesitate to use them on any other project that I have in the future.
Description of Work: We have used Rx Home Solutions for (2) bath room remodels and have recently received proposals for more remodeling as we prepare our home for resale. They will be refinishing a staircase (sanding and refinishing, replacing balusters and painting walls), replacing wood (laminate) flooring in the kitchen/hallway, removing wall paper and painting, refinishing cabinets, replacing countertops, repairing the exterior entryway and painting and repairing exterior siding. After that, I will have them remodel the master bath and paint the upstairs bedrooms, to complete the renovations.

They were referred by a friend. I have some cracks in my drywall and grout in both bathrooms. They didn't want to come back without charging me and they wouldn't come back within the 1 year warranty either. They're blaming the weather for the issues. I also have some issues with the tile and they didn't want to address them either. They were not professional and they didn't get permits. They were not good at responding to my complaints either.
Description of Work: 2 bathrooms, scraped the ceiling and redid the texturing on the drywall

We completed this project 5/18/11. In March 2012 we were contacted by this customer about some issues. On 3/8/12 we went to her house replaced one tile, re-caulked some grout and base boards. We did a little extra work at that time and let her know there were issues due to dry weather and foundation movement that was causing the cracks she was starting to notice. To our knowledge she was satisfied. On 3/30/12 this customer contacted us with more of the same issues. We indicated we were sorry but for the damage due to things beyond our control, we would have to charge her if we returned. The situation was dropped at that time - we thought. This customer then filed a claim with the BBB in December of 2012. This customer was now alleging there was a damaged tile or two, poor workmanship, etc.. She no longer wanted us to return to her house. We offered $400.00 for the alleged damaged tile, she wanted $4000.00. Then in the middle of this negotiation with the BBB, this customer filed a claim with my insurance carrier. This resulted in the BBB closing the customer's complaint. After an investigation, our insurance company paid her $300.00 for the "scratched" tile - no one knows for sure when or how the tile was scratched. Nor was it determined who scratched the tile. This customer also alleged that we damaged other portions of her home, areas and places we did not work, when our insurance company adjuster met her at her house. After the insurance settlement, this customer then attempted to file another complaint with the BBB. This complaint was denied. This has been a difficult situation. We work hard to try to please each and every customer. On very rare occasions this may not be possible. This customer was not the easiest customer to work with during the original project. For that reason, when we completed this work, we refused to provide an estimate for a kitchen remodel. We have never turned down work before. I feel terrible that we could not reach a resolution that satisfied all parties, in fact I don't believe either party was satisfied. We regret we could not reach a happier ending.

we have researched our records and can find no evidence that we have ever spoken by phone, met this customer at their home or communicated by email at any time. We have researched all of our tracking records from 8/1/12 to 12/13/12 (date of customers review). We conclude that this customer has mixed us up with some other organization. I plead with the management of Angie's List to check the facts and accuracy of these reports.

I decided not to use Rx for a couple of reasons: 1. The man who came to do the bid appeared to have decide before walking in about how much he was going to bid for, and proceeded to give me a list of things that they "would not do" including procure shower glass, tile and any other materials. 2. He was attempting to explain to me the process of the remodel in complex terms (I have a close background to construction so understood everything, but I was irritated that he seemed to be trying to sound like an "expert" rather than explaining things in layman's terms). He then wrote the amount(s) on the back of a business card and left. The bid was obviously for labor only, since I was going to have to do all of the procurement, and was one of the highest I received. DO: Make your customer feel like theirs is a unique job. DO: Speak in clear language and explain the process thoroughly; (I looked at the bids on a point-by-point basis but had nothing to compare his to since he chose to be condescending rather than explaining the process clearly). DO: Submit a professional bid that looks like you took the time to think about it rather than had a "cookie-cutter" plan and wrote down a number without spending anytime or work preparing a bid.
Description of Work: I received an estimate for a bathroom remodel.
This experience was so much better than I had dared hope. Paul and his crew were unbelievable. Tim Hoff must have given me 6 or more free estimates in the 6 months leading up to the start date- every time I changed my mind or reworked my ideas. He gave me suggestions to help me realize my ideas better but never infringed on my tastes, my plans. Once worked start, Allen was the person most involved in the day-to-day work. He was here every morning at 7:30, ready to work. There was a person assigned to get parts and Paul showed up almost every day to go over what was done, what still needed doing. I had people in my house who completely respected the fact we were living in the house while they were working. At the end of every day, the work area was cleaned and left safe for all of us to move in until the next day. Most important, the whole crew helped look out for the two dogs and two cats. They closed gates, watched doors and spoke to the dogs so that there were no surprises. The bathroom is like a retreat- calm, relaxing, beautifully tiled, well thought out as far as drainage and convenience. It's a mix of custom work and big-box convenience products. When I forgot to choose trim tile, the parts person, John, came back to the house with three possible choices that he thought would go with my main tile. The first time the drain cover was set in the tile, it was stainless steel. I had chosen oil-rubbed bronze for all the fixtures but wasn't going to make a fuss- I never said anything to Allen. The next day, the drain cover had been switched for an oil-rubbed bronze finish. This kind of attention to detail was everywhere. Our kitchen is stunning. I didn't expect it could be done so beautifully for what we spent. We have a colorful, open inviting room that looks like high-tech professional meets Mexican kitchen.
Description of Work: Bathroom conversion from tub/shower unit to fully tiles shower with new plumbing, shower pan, glass by-pass door, built-in recesses for holding bath products, bench seat. All of it was tiled. Kitchen remodel included widening doorway, opening wall between kitchen and living room, removing drop-down ceiling and a funny dividing wall, removing all cabinets and tearing out old countertops. A bar counter was built in the living room. Doorway was reframed, opening framed, ceiling and walls re-done and new countertops installed. Appliances were re-connected and the new countertops were tiled.
