The representative was very nice and professional. The overall experience was terrible to the point of misleading, and incredibly expensive. When I called to schedule the appointment, I was very specific regarding the parts required, and that my house was currently without water. I was given a wide window of 8-5, but was told that they understood the need and would give me the 'first available'. At noon I called to ask, was told I was next in line, and would get a call when the technician was 1 hour away. I finally got that pre-call an hour later, but the technician would not show up for an additional 2+ hours. When he did, he did not have the parts necessary to do the job! He left and returned 2 hours later with the right parts to finish the job. If it were not for the great attitude of the technician, the ratings on this company would be all 'F'. Buyer beware.

It took a long time to complete. Also, excessive solder in the lines as a result of the work caused a problem with the auto-fill valve on our pool. The system also developed a water hammering problem which our technician said he could take care of for another $5,000! we went with another company who solved that issue for $500. I thought when we first hied Radiant that we were paying a premium for greater expertise. Well, we definitely paid a premium! Don't think we got any better expertise than anyone else.
Description of Work: We had quite a bit of plumbing work done including replacement of a water heater, adding a water pressure regulator and sediment trap, as well as a "water cop" system.

It went great. Jake first gave us an estimate of the work to be done. Once I OKed it, he cleaned all of the faucet heads so that our water would flow again. He also cleaned the resin out of the toilet tanks. He then gave us a couple of estimates for replacing the water softener and changing the RO system filters. We have him scheduled for later this week to do these jobs. Jake was very knowledgeable and professional, as are all of the folks at the Radiant office that I've dealt with.
Description of Work: Our water softener went out and resin clogged all of our faucets. We needed the faucets and toilets cleaned out.

It went well, but it was way too expensive. A tailpiece was replaced in the toilet, along with 3 stops. Not too difficult I believe, but the price was 530.00.....even after I supplied the toilet tailpiece.

Well, fool me once shame on you. fool me twice shame on me. Last September Radiant installed to new heat pumps and air handlers. At the time I was told that I would get a free service checkup in the spring to make sure everything was good and the refrigerant was at the normal level. A couple of weeks ago I called my salesperson, Woody, and spoke with him about the service check and he said he would call me back in a day or so. A week later I called him and left a message on his voice mail. After a week I called in to speak with the owner and was told he was in a meeting.....why are the bosses always in a meeting. 2 hours later the GM called me, apologized and set up an appointment for the following week...6 days later...between 12-2. At 3:30p I called and the dispatcher, Morgan, said they were finishing up their previous call and were on their way to me. At 5 pm I called back and spoke with the GM and heard the story about how busy they were and I just wanted the system checked. The technician showed up at 5:30pm and looked at both heat pumps, put in some refrigerant, never looked at the air handlers in the attic and they were gone after 10 minutes. Did everything check out in the attic? We'll never know.

They didn?t even attempt to call the manufacturer to get the parts. They just said it was too old and that it needed to be replaced and they gave me the cost estimates for it. I called the manufacture and there was no problem getting the parts and they were willing to work with me. The technician didn?t even take the cover off or take a look at the problem and just tried to sell me a new one.

The tech was over 3 hours late from the original appointment time of 4:30pm and no one ever called to let me know when the new time would be. It was almost 8pm when the tech arrived at my house. When I called at 4:37pm to find out if someone was still coming and when, the office person taking my call said immediately she could play me the recording of the phone call made without even verifying herself. I asked for the phone number that was called and the number she gave me was not my number but another customer's. She quickly stated that she was looking at another customer's appointment, and then looked at my appointment finally apologizing that no one ever called. She said the new time would be about 1-2 hours, which should have been 6:30pm at the latest instead of almost 8pm. The tech called at about 7:18pm to say he was 24 minutes out but as I said it was close to 8pm by the time he arrived at our house. I was glad at least that the tech called even though it was late. My conclusion was that the office personnel scheduled the appointments too close together knowing fully that the tech would not be able to meet any of the appointment times and end up being late especially given the long distances between locations, not exactly the tech's fault. Jessica was the office person that scheduled my appointment. Additionally, Jessica did not tell me upfront on the phone when she scheduled the appointment that I would be charged a $39.00 fee to find out the types of water softeners they sold and to get a quick water hardness test. I found this out at about 8:40pm when I was pressed to pay and sign many times over. Jessica was quick to tell me the next morning when I called back that she had a recording of her telling me about the charge which I knew was not true even though she hadn't even checked herself. I guess it was her/this company's standard response to issues and a way to make money. There was nothing on their website about any of the water softeners or filtering systems... absolutely nothing! The tech knew very little about water softeners or filtering systems and was only able to email us pricing for their systems before he left so I still had no product info, that was emailed to me the next day with no explanation of any of them, just brochures/handouts that could have been put on their website or sent to me in an email before coming out. The tech was nice but seemed more knowledgeable about general plumbing. He filled an already used water bottle with our water to take back and test, so the next day he emailed the hardness at a level that I knew was too low and not accurate. The entire evening was wasted including my $39.00! I have contacted many companies about water systems and none of them charged me a fee for the same service. I'm requesting a full refund from this company for all the reasons I've listed above.

I requested this service over 4 years ago and was notified that I was out of the service providers service area. No big deal. I've received reminders to rate the service from Angie's List every time I log on since then. No other option but to write this bogus review to stop getting reminders. Apologies to the provider. It's an Angie's list issue.

I have been a customer of the extended maintenance program for years and paid a monthly service fee of $23.95. I always received prompt service for preventative and emergency service when called. I recently called as the A/C unit was not cooling and it was quickly diagnosed as a blown circuit board. I received an estimate of $1200-$1500 to replace the part but was heavily encouraged to replace the entire system due to it's age. This was estimated to cost between $10,000-$14,000 depending on the model and efficiency chosen. This is a difficult decision to make on a Sunday night at 9 pm when the A/C unit is not cooling in July. I decided I would like to replace only the blown circuit board in order to get the A/C back on and then be able to research a large purchase of a new system not in the moment of a crisis. After some online research, I found that the circuit board part costs $150-$300 and takes about 30 minutes to install. After speaking with a manager at Radiant about the high estimate, I was offered $100 off the $1200-$1500 estimate. I found another highly rated provider on Angie's List to complete the repair for $613 (part, trip fee and labor costs included). I have since cancelled my extended maintenance contract with Radiant as I feel I was overcharged for other repairs in the past and this latest circuit board estimate sent me over the edge. Radiant is a good provider but it comes with a very high premium. There are plenty of competent and competitive providers available on Angie's List. Good Luck Austin!

Heard my AC buzzing early on a Saturday morning so called Radiant. Was told that because it was "off hours" that a $159 trip fee would be applied. Seemed excessive, but they said someone was in the area and could visit soon and I was working to clear a fallen tree from the storm, so I decided to accept it. The service technician shows up and within a few minutes said the problem is that ants had gotten into the contactor outside and that it would be $350 to replace it. Note at this point that the compressor & contactor is less than 6 months old--it was installed last summer. I didn't have time to deal with anything except the tree at that point, so said fine. After another few minutes, he said he was done and the AC seemed to be working normally. Surprisingly quick service call. Later in the day after I'd finished clearing out the fallen tree, I did a bit of research on AC contactors & ants. I found that the part installed was only $9, so I called Radiant to ask if it is typical to mark up parts that much. I also found out that the problem of ants getting into contactors is a very common problem in the southwest, and that there are sealed contactors which prevent this from occurring. These sealed contactors cost $40-50, but it eliminates the problem permanently. A few days later, the service manager did call me back and credit back a good portion of the cost. Given the circumstances, I was okay paying a couple hundred dollars to get the issue fixed. I will still go and purchase a sealed contactor and install myself in the near future.

I had already done extensive investigation and determined that the leak was in the main supply line coming in from the well and knew that we had to find the main manifold where the incoming line split to the exterior faucets and main feed for the water softener and the rest of the house. I provided an accurate diagram of the house and where the known pipes/faucets were and where I suspected the main line went. I knew the leak was in the main line because I plumbed around it to get water back on in the house. I suspected the manifold was under the water heater/water softener in the garage. After discussing my troubleshooting and suspicians the plumber agreed with my hypothesis and so obviously my next question was "where do we go from here" He then said "before I can go any further I'll need you to pay $220 for diagnosis." He went out to his truck and spent 15 minutes writing up an agreement. After he charged my card he cut a 12"x12" hole in my garage wall peered inside and said "yup there is your manifold". So again my question is where do we go from here and he says he will write up an estimate. He then goes to his truck and spends 30 minutes writing up a proposal. The proposal is for ~$500 to cut a large hole in the sheet rock in the bedroom, ~$200 to push the water out of the lines, and ~$1800 to test for the leak by capping and pressurizing lines. When I asked where the estimate for the repair was he said, "gee that will be really expensive and depend on what we find". Well I know that we have a leak in a supply line and it will need to be repaired/replaced somehow and it was really a question of if all the exterior faucets would work or not. He gave me a very rough ball park figure off the top of his head after I insisted on telling me something of use. After the estimate he cleaned up the sheet rock dust in the garage and taped the piece of sheet rock back in place. That is the extent of the work I got done for $220. Confirmation of what I already knew, a hole in a garage wall, and a written estimate on further diagnostics with no estimate on the repairs. I got a follow up call very soon thereafter asking how I liked the service and did I want to schedule work. I said the plumber was very prompt and professional and I'd get back to them. After I had a few more hours to think about it and explain what had happened to my wife I got pretty irritated that I spent $220 for a hole in the wall and nothing more than confirmation of what I already knew. I responded to an online survey from the company in which I expressed my dissatisfaction and never heard back from them. They were recommended by another local plumber who didn't specialize in home repairs and from the reviews I saw on Angie's List. I had also researched them on their website and other reviews before calling them. I was not satisfied with the charges nor the estimates and would not use them in the future. And that $500 he wanted to make a hole in my bedroom? I removed the baseboard and cut it myself in less than 15 minutes including cleanup.
Description of Work: I had a broken pipe under slab. I wanted an estimate on how much it would cost to find and recommendations on repairing the leak. I called and requested a bid for work to be done and was told it would be $40 for an estimate. After a lengthy explanation of what I had discovered and what I thought the plumber said before he could do any diagnosis it would cost $220. The plumber cut a 12x12" hole in the wall in my garage, flashed his light in and said "yup there is the manifold" then spent 30 minutes writing up an estimate.

Radiant stated to just repair and replace refrigerant would cost $3390. I asked what a new A/C would cost and was quoted $6060. When I asked for the name of the model they quoted me they could not provide any details except for the brand name. They could not provide me with details on the price quote (labor verses equipment, etc). I received another quote from another company for the same A/C replacement and it was for thousands of dollars less. To sum it up I paid $235 for them to come out and tell me the refrigerant was missing and to give me an enormous quote with no details.

The work was very good, but 1050 is about the same cost as 2 new and premium tanks (without installation costs). Again, the joke is on me. If standard pricing is standard pricing, I would think that TRANSPARENCY should be a standard practice. I learned my lesson. I can't recommend this company as I felt I was taken advantage of at the time, and most of it is due to my own lack of research. When I called back today with feedback on the service, I explained, politely, that the service was great, but I felt ripped off. All I got was "we are sorry you feel this way and hope you use us in the future." Right.
Description of Work: Here is the rub. Always get 3 quotes. I had 2 heaters where the anode rods needed replacing and the tanks drained. I did my best to service them myself, but needed professional help as the mineral were a bit heavy and the tube was too tight for me to remove. I should have ran away when I asked for standard pricing, which applies to everyone, but was not revealed over the phone when I called. So I had my technician drain /flush (2) 40 gal tanks and replace the rods. He made it look pretty easy, so I must have been doing something wrong and lesson learned.

Radiant's high prices are so outrageous that I will never use them again, despite their quick availability. I have a leaking toilet tank with a broken gasket between the tank and the bowl. Radiant's technician came promptly, and informed me that the price to fix would be roughly $375 for a job that would take 30-40 minutes (his words), and include only about $25 in parts (my estimation). Simply put, $375 for a job of less than an hour, with no significant parts cost, is insultingly high. Another competitor provides "emergency" after-hours service for only $162 an hour, by comparison. I declined services but had to pay the $39 appointment fee. Radiant's pricing is so high that I would never use them again, regardless of any other factor.

To start, the office personnel were efficient..both for making the appointment and then calling 45 minutes in advance to let me know the plumber was on the way. He showed up on time and went straight to work. He knew what he was doing and was quite professional. Update: As it turns out the sulphur smell came back a week later. They had used vinegar instead of bleach and it did not get rid of the problem. I contacted Radiant and set up a Re-do, this time with bleach, and also the same day an Air conditioning call to check the 3 units for coolant before our hot summer. They came out for the A/C and topped off the coolant and all is good. Then I received a call asking about the plumbing telling me that they do not use Chlorine when the shock water heaters. Well, this must be something new as I have had the water heaters shocked many times in the past and always with Chlorox. I was told the General Manager would call me and it is now 6 days and nothing. Customer service followed up and I reminded them about the GM calling but still nothing. Bottom line: I am out $350 and have the same sulphur smell that I had before I called them. Their A/C service deserves an "A" but I have to say that the plumbing side deserves an "F" for not doing the job correctly and not calling back. Now I need to call a different plumbing service to get this handled. One thing is for certain, I never paid as much as $350 for the shocking of the 2 water heaters but Caveat Emptor.....and this time I lost.
