My name is Steve Lee. I have been in the home maintenance and repair business since 1991 and have been servicing the Austin metro area since 2004. Austin has grown tremendously in the last decade but my business remains small to keep the "Quality" in the services we strive to provide for our valued clientele. It went very well
Description of Work: Steve renovated a greenhouse that was built in 1937. No 2 panes of glass were the same size and significant wood was rotten. He did the entire project on time and on budget (-$1800). The greenhouse should be good for another 75 years with new glass, new wood and a fresh coat of paint. Steve has done quite a bit of work for me over the years. I have never found anyone better considering quality, price, professionalism, and timeliness.

Do not use this man.
Description of Work: This is another update to an earlier post about services for which we hired Steve: repairing the skirting under our house, installing an access door under the house and installing a roof vent to our attached shed for air circulation. The bottom line is that Steve is not qualified to do most of what was done. He is disorganized, uses poor quality materials and is slow to communicate. Despite this, he is (we thought) a nice guy so we accepted and paid him for the he work he did on our house only to find out that the roof vent leaks! When I contacted Steve about this it took days for him to reply because he was on vacation but he promised us a quick refund. However, although he itemized the receipt in terms of what was done, he did not provide individual prices for each item, so could not give me a total amount for my refund over the phone. He said he would call back that day with the total. Instead he emailed my husband two days later with the total refund amount: $40. Forty bucks for something that has now cost us $300 to repair. And to add insult to injury, he said he would drop the refund check in our mailbox on Thurs. (because he hadn't managed to mail the check yet), but it is now Fri. and still no Steve, no check. What a nightmare. I had updated my first negative post and raised his rating from F to C after he promised a refund; however, I cannot allow that rating to stand. This is the last update I will make. This experience has been terrible. Do not hire this man.

To whom it may concern I am responding to this obviously outrageous posting that is only one sided in how it is being told. To begin with when I was first contacted by this client I was initially told that I would be doing an estimate for a wide variety of items to be repaired as told to me by the meber's wife, so I naturally blocked out a sufficient amount of time to walk through the list with him but, as it turned out when I had arrived at their house it turned out that her husband had already hired another contractor to do most of the items on the list so, I met with him and took a look at the items that he still needed to have done, might as well as to not waste a trip, so he walked me through what still needed to be done and we agreed as to what would done and how it would be done, I really did not get a lot of time to speak with him because as it turns out had still yet another contractor showing up at the same time that was supposedly set aside to meet with me. So I sent an e-mail estimate for the work to be done and he agreed to the price and so we set a time for me to do the work. When I was finished with the job I assumed it would be the husban that I would be meeting with but as it turns out it was his wife that showed up to pay me, so I walked her around and showed her the work we had completed and she said it looked good and she paid me. End of story right? Wrong!! I got a call from them shortly after we had some rainfall and they stated that the roof vent was leaking (which is in an exterior building) so I told them that I would be more than happy to correct the problem but, they told me that they had already hired a contractor to do the work for $300.00 WHAT! yea my response exactly! They told me that they wanted a refund so I agreed but that I did not know the exact amount because I did not give them a line item estimate (which they did not ask for) but would have gladly provided them with one if they had requested it, even if there were only two items on the list, as in this case, so when I got back to them a couple of days later with the refund amount they thought that I would be refunding the full invoice amount not just the vent installation, now why would they think that when there was no mention about the other work that I did? I assumed that a signed check meant that they were happy with what I had completed? Well the next thing you know is I get this Crummy report on my list from somebody that hired me, paid me and said the work looked good! Well I do not like the fact that I was not allowed to correct the problem to make them happy, I would have even refunded just to keep somebody from giving a report like this! From somebody that does not know what real communication and professionalism is, but if anybody is interested in what a good contractor can provide for you then please scroll down past this wasted space and take a look at some of the major jobs I have done for some very, very satisfied clients.
