I called Payless Garage Doors at 11:45 and Ivan, the owner, answered the phone. He committed to having someone to our house between 2:00 and 3:00, and he showed up at about 2:30. As it happens, I couldn't duplicate the problem when he was there, but he pointed out several things that could be causing the problem. He adjusted the chain, which wasn't right, and pulled one of the rollers, which was clearly very worn on one side. He gave me several options, and I decided to replace the rollers, which he agreed to do for the Angie's List coupon price. He tuned up the door and replaced the rollers in about 30 min. The door works great and I can see and hear the difference in how it opens and closes. There is no doubt the worn rollers were causing the problem. I am very happy with the response, the service and the price I received from Payless Garage Doors. I would use them again and recommend them to any of my friends and neighbors. I won't need to check Angie's List next time I need garage door work because I know who to call now.

Payless Doors arrived on time and performed the tuneup and replaced the rollers in about 30 minutes. Also recoded the door openers at no extra cost (generally a $25 charge). Very pleased with the result!

The owner was friendly and informative over the phone. He was able to dispatch a technician, his son, very soon after the initial call. I had request Payless install a strut for added support as recommended by another company. I also requested that the control panel be relocated so that it was in line with the pre-existing electrical outlet. The technician arrived at the time we discussed and had a very friendly demeanor. I showed him the garage and further explained what I wanted installed. He responded in saying the install was not necessary given my particular garage door w/ re: to size, construction, etc. It is refreshing to find such honesty. With regard to the door opener panel, the technican would have had to charge a set fee for any work, and again, he said he would be willing to do it, but suggested how it may be a better to make it a diy project if I was up for it.

An employee came out to inspect my garage door. He didn't seem to understand that a tune-up was included or that I had already paid through the angie's list bid deal program. He knew right away what needed to be done (the springs needed to be moved up so they weren't rubbing on the track). Unfortunately, the angle iron they were attached to was not strong enough so it bent when he attached the springs correctly. He then patched the bent spot with a stronger piece of angle iron to straighten out the bent spot. He recommended I change out the rollers which cost extra as it was not included in the big deal but was less than I would have paid for the parts from Home Depot. The garage door works really quietly now as opposed to banging, catching and derailing the way it did before.

HE CAM E BUT SPEND ABOUT 25 MIN IN HIS TRUCK BEFORE STARTING WORK WISH WAS UNUSUAL FOR ME TO WAITE ALL THAT TIME WHEN HE GOT THERE.

Called at 8:30 AM and job was finished around noon. Very prompt action and provided life time warranty on some of the garage door items. Very satisfied.

Ivan, the owner, arrived almost immediately with a chipper and helpful disposition. He is proud that his son helps him in his business and that he has been doing this for many, many years. VERY polite, helpful and professional. Ivan took extra steps to ensure he didn't actually have the access codes at anytime. It only took Ivan approximately 30 or 40 minutes to take care of everything, and he double-checked with me that everything was working before he left. Ivan applied all discounts and coupons without being reminded, gave a written invoice, and processed the check before leaving. VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. I made the idiotic mistake of "deprogramming" the keypad accidentally (the week after the service visit), and Ivan returned to our house within 30 minutes of my call to reprogram it without any additional service fee. (I insisted on paying for his mileage.)

From the phone conversation with Ivan on Tuesday night through the quality work performed by Christian, Payless Garage Doors earned and deserve the highest marks I can give. But perhaps, like this company and these people, I can go above and beyond what is expected... Christian surveyed the damage and immediately set to work on the repairs. He was not rushed in his work, but he was extremely fast and efficient. His knowledge of the problem and his design of the best solution was flawless. He did not try to fix things that did not require it. He covered every component part of a garage door system and provided the highest level of professional service I have seen in many years. And we still found time to build a friendship! This garage door has NEVER been this quiet and smooth in all the years we have lived in this house. The professional technician was on-time, courteous, and talented. The company was extremely responsive and the experience was so much better than I had imagined. We will be using Payless Garage Doors every year for a tune-up and check-up, and they will be the only call I will make for repairs or replacements in the future. If you have a garage door problem, call this great team first! Our daughter and son-in-law just spent nearly 5 times the cost for a similar problem at their house. I'm not paid to say this, but you owe it to yourself - call them...call them FIRST! Amazing experience...

Technician arrived in the time allotted and finished the work within an hour. I utilized the Angie's List 20% discount and ended up with a great deal. 150 for the spring and 60 for the rollers - 20%. Best quote of 5 different companies I called. I will definitely use them again. The tech also helped me out with my 3 different garage openers and got them all back working at no extra charge. Very friendly and professional.

We needed a couple of panels replaced in our about 10 year old garage doors, otherwise still looking decent. The garage door opener system was pretty old and needed replacing too. After contacting a succession of two other companies well-advertised in the Austin area with extremely poor response, in total over 2 months of waiting, poor communication, promises, and in the end no replacement panels that match, we contacted the dealer of our particular doors locally, and they in turn gave us Ivan's contact info. Ivan operates his independent small business garage door company in the Austin area- he does everything with a helper or two. In addition to getting, installing and repairing manufactured garage doors, he makes gorgeous custom made wooden doors in various styles (Mexican villa, horsey farm, McMansion, etc.). Ivan is obviously a craftsman as well as a good business man and technician. Ivan was immediately available when we called, came out that day to advise, and worked with his contacts at the dealer to try to get us replacement/repaired pieces. Turns out they weren't available, and so we went a head and got new doors from him along with the new openers. On all occasions he was available either by phone immediately or called back immediately, was clear/straightforward, extremely courteous, and smiling. He arrived on time, was clear about costs in advance which did not change, wrote up invoices and receipts to record what was promised/paid, communicated if anything changed, had good help, delivered exactly what was promised with no "problems", produced installed product that looked perfect, and provided little extras never promised/mentioned prior (code panel for outside the doors to open them, bottle of touch up paint for the doors). He also promised to call in a year to remind us to service the doors and would do that if we wanted. Really a nice, professional guy - such a contrast to the unreliable business processes and personal demeanor of those we encountered at garage door companies we had contacted prior.
