+ -1 moreI have been using Payless Garage Doors for about 8 years. Ivan is the nicest service person you will ever meet. He only sells you what you need and does not overcharge. Recently, my garage door was not closing unless I held the button down. Ivan was able to come the same day. He noted that I needed a tuneup and new rollers. It did the trick. Don't waste your time with other companies. Ivan and Payless are the best in Austin for service and value.

+ -1 moreThe man called me Saturday morning right on time to let me know he was 10 minutes away. He was very courteous, knowledgeable, appropriately dressed in uniform, and very accommodating. He was able to perform the job in about an hour. There were no negative aspects; everything very positive.
Description of Work: Original Work 8/10/13: I originally set up for the Garage Door Tune Up for $89 through Angie's List consisting of new nylon rollers, check alignment (not needed), lubricate, and inspect. With the door being 8 years old, they recommended replacing the spring. I decided to go ahead with that since I did not want the spring to break at an inconvenient time and having to mess with all the problems. The cost of $170 plus the $89 tune up was similar to what a neighbor paid another vendor. Update - 1/10/14: My garage door would not close on several mornings. It would start to close and then reverse. It might go down 2 inches before reversing or 18 inches. On two occasions it finally closed completely after numerous tries. On one very cold morning, it would not close, so I had to override it and then leave through the front door. The Payless Garage Door technician adjusted to down pressure and lubricated the rail. It is working now; however, it worked most of the time -- primarily had problems when there was very cold weather. Therefore, I cannot say whether the problem has been corrected or not. Payless wanted me to pay for the service. I felt that any adjustment problem should be covered by the 1 year labor warranty. The owner felt they were not responsible; however, decided to not charge for the service. I would expect the proper adjustment to the tension of the up and down movements to be part of the tune-up I paid for. That they did not make the adjustments needed was their responsibility - not mine. You may need to have a clear understanding of what the warranty is covering on any work done by Payless.

+ -1 moreThe company was supposed to reach out to me within 48 hours. Angie's List called to see if they had, they hadn't so Angie's List got the company to reach out to me. Payless Garage Doors told me they could schedule the appointment for the 9th or the 10th, I chose the 9th. They have since called me again to reschedule. I am in the process of getting a refund through Angie's List for this deal.

+ -1 moreWow! Great response! I called and left a message at 7a and was called back within the hour, and had Victor at my home exactly when promised. He was very polite, professional and completed the garage door spring repair in about 30 minutes. The price was very reasonable for two springs and service time. I will definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreThe extension springs broke on my garage door. I called in the morning, and Ivan was able to come by in just a couple of hours. He replaced the springs as well as the rollers (which he recommended doing since they were so old). The door works great now, much smoother than it did before. Overall, I was very pleased with the response time and quality of work. I'll be using them again for my future garage door service needs.

+ -1 moreMr. Ramirez came about 2 weeks ago to fix our door opener.. It was 13 years old and on its last leg.. He fixed it but did tell us to expect more problems later on.. Well, 2 weeks later it finally died.. He came out to repair but it was unrepairable.. We went ahead and gave him the go ahead to install a new Belt driven quiet opener.. His son (Christian) came out the next day on time to install.. He looks just like his Dad.. I never write reviews, but am making an exception in this case.. It is so refreshing to a family business work so smoothly and successfully.. Dad and Son are two of the nicest and hard working folks you could ever meet.. VERY COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY.. Their pricing is far below their big company competitors.. They have no middleman like the bigger companies..!! + -1 moreI took advantage of a deal for a $39 garage door checkup because my door had been acting up. The "checkup" went perfect, however the rollers were the problem so I had them replaced. The $39 was not absorbed or credited so I paid an additional $149...It was a good job though and I would probably use them again because of the quality and professionalism

+ -1 moreI purchased a garage door tune up to diagnose and do a tune up. I've found out that the door sensor was misaligned. Anyway the tech fixed the problem and tightened the belt so that the belt was not loose. He also lubricated the spring and did other maintenance stuffs. At the price, I will use them again. I used another company 2 years ago using Angie's List for a tune up. I used the other company for a simple fix, but ended paying $100 for a service call. I would use Payless Garage Doors again because the tech. said that Pyless Garage Doors only charge $39 for a service call. I am planning on using the company for my in laws' house.
Description of Work: I had a problem with a garage door not working correctly. I had to keep pressing button to close the door.

+ -1 morePayless Garage Doors charged to "fix" a problem that wasn't fixed, and gave the wrong reason why it didn't help.
Description of Work: One of our garage doors had developed a "shimmy" when it was closing, and would occasionally spontaneously reverse as a result. I figured something must be out of alignment or something minor, and called Payless to inspect and adjust the door. The fellow spent some time (about an hour) adjusting the door and fiddling with the wires, which didn't really solve the problem. He said that the rollers needed to be replaced. After he left, I replaced all the rollers -- about an hour of my time -- but nothing improved.

Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's deal and then almost immediately Mr. Ramirez contacted me and I met him over at our rent house that needed the work. The garage door had been opening and closing on its own. Mr. Ramirez figured out what was wrong, replaced the wheels, programmed a new remote, cleaned up, left an invoice for me, locked up and left the key right where we had discussed. It was fast, painless, done right and economical Thanks!

+ -1 moreDid not honor the % discount posted on Angie's list, said that wasn't for Garage Door Opener's or installation. It didn't specify any restrictions on Angie's List. They made me pay for the service call on a problem they couldn't fix, then pay again for the garage door openers and installation. Most companies would apply the service call $$s towards the new purchcase and installation. They did not. Wanted 1/2 of the total up front and would return the following day to install and collect the other half. They didn't show up when they said they would. When I called them, they said they were really busy unexpectedly and would have to reschedule for the following day or two days later. NOT a good experience when they already have my money up front. They ended up coming that night and staying late until it was completed, but didn't like the inconsistencies in their coupon application, scheduling or pricing. Was quoted one price on the garage door openers and installation and when it went into writing it was MORE than he had quoted.
Description of Work: Needed a garage door opener repair on a 5 year old unit. Said it was broken and couldn't be repaired and sold me new door openers and installation.

+ -1 moreI called this morning and was initially told they could be here between 10-12. I got a call at 11:30 telling me they were on the way. Christian arrived a little before 12 and got to work. He replaced the bent brace and added a metal strip before re-attaching the brace, making it better than it was before. He also lubricated the tracks and it is almost unsettling how much quieter the door opens and closes. He told me that the rollers were okay, but they would be the next thing that would need to be replaced. I asked him what that would cost and was pleased I could fit that into my budget now. He had a set of rollers with him and he was able to make the repair and change the rollers in less than an hour. He took the time to answer all my questions before, during and after the work was completed and was very pleasant and professional throughout the process. I was very pleased with every aspect of our transaction. I know I'll be calling them again if any other problems develop with my garage doors. Great job, Payless!!! A+

The work was done quickly and with our Angie's List coupons we paid less than the quoted price. I would call them again for repairs and would recommend then to anyone in my area having garage door problems.

+ -1 moreDo - call them if you need a garage door repair Don't - give it a second thought. Everything will be done quickly and professionally.
Description of Work: After nearly destroying my car and garage door, my neighbor recommended Payless for the repairs. I found that everything she told me about the company to be right on the mark. The owner came out within a few hours to give me an estimate. He also did a quick check up on the rollers on both doors (10 rollers in all) and showed me how they had worn. The rollers were 15 years old and really needed to be replaced. The total for the two panels and 10 rollers along with the 20% coupon he offered to Angie’s List customers made the entire repair $396.00. A few hours later, his son was here with all the parts and my door was up and running in less than an hour…just like new. I highly recommend Payless, I just hope you don’t need them because you hit the garage door with your car.

+ -1 moreVery well. We bought a deal from Angie on Thursday, called and set up an appointment for Saturday between 9-11. We were called at 9 and told they would be here in a half hour. Christian and two brothers arrived as promised, immediately got to work, and did a thorough inspection in a professional way. When asked about the sporadic performance of a remote opener, Christian replaced the battery. I would definitely call them again.
