If you need to have work done on your pool, I would highly recommend Paradise Pool Plastering. We had our pool replastered in Feb. 2013 and couldn't be happier with the work. Mark Norris came out on Feb 13 and gave us a free estimate (Nice guy to do business with). We got three bids and his was the middle bid but the one with the best references. His people showed up on time, did the work quickly and efficiently, starting with the pump-out on Sunday (We flooded our yard and our neighbor's yard over the next 7 hours so we wouldn't waste 28K gallons of water) and they finished plastering on Wed. pm. It was amazing to watch the proficiency of his 2 crews. Mark checked on them everyday and talked with us everyday to make sure things were going as expected. They also replaced some small loose tiles and replaced several loose patio stones on the pool deck. They also installed a handrail at no extra charge, which we had purchased directly from Mark's supplier. The job couldn't have gone better. He recommended Pool Doc to do the start-up, getting the water up to pristine condition, which we did. Chad did an excellent job also and we are really happy with the complete job. Thanks Mark and Paradise for a GREAT job.
Description of Work: Paradise Pool Plastering was contracted to replaster our 28K gallon/30 year old in-ground pool and replace some stones on the walk around the edge of the pool.

Each crew was on time, efficient, and did a great job. They worked two Sundays in a row. The only reason I gave a B grade regarding responsiveness, is probably due to the fact that this is the busiest time of the year for pool re modeling and they were completely slammed. We had a quick scare when it rained for two days, Marks phone would not take calls for a few hours and I panicked, thinking he must have either killed over from over working or had taken the money and headed out of town! He called later that day and all was good. The pool is filling today and we could not be more pleased. Mark, his son and all of his crews are highly recommended by us! *Out of the entire home and pool remodel... Mark and his guys were the easiest, quickest, most on time and on budget contractors we used!
Description of Work: We are new to Lakeway and had purchased a home / pool that was constructed in 1970. The pool was in desperate need of repair and re-plastering. After looking on Angies List, I contacted 3 companies. During the bidding process, we spoke to a neighbor that had recently had their pool re-plastered and they highly recommended Mark Norris (Paradise Pool). So, when Marks bid came back to us and it was very fair, we decided to hire his company. The pool needed re-plastering, old broken rock coping removed, old tile removed, fill in 6 old floor drains, add a second required drain, replace skimmer that was filled solid with concrete, replace light, replace all equipment, re tile and place new limestone coping around perimeter. During the homes remodel process, we let the pool turn into a lagoon that was filled with all sorts of debri from the construction. When he bid the pool 3 months before we actually hired him to start, the pool was clean. He did not charge us more for the debri removal.

Description of Work: We needed our pool replastered and Mark came to give us an estimate on the work. He pointed out that we had one drain on the bottom of the pool and new regulations require 2 for safety reasons. We would have been grandfathered in, but since we were draining the pool it made sense to do it. He also added, on as a bonus, some tile for our steps. We also had a light that didn't work, so we needed it removed and filled in. His estimate was $1000 lower then another estimate we had done, and that estimate only included replastering! Another good thing is, he is the owner of the company, so you deal directly with him! The pool was finished yesterday and it looks like a new pool! We couldn't be happier!

Mark came to my house to measure the pool and gave me an estimate. He noticed my wooden deck also needed to be replaced. He told me that if he got the plastering job, he could refer me to his deck contractor to get the job done at a reasonable price. I asked him for deck contractor's contact anyway during his visit but he refused to give it and said he would not give out any conractor contact for free. Too bad. He did not get my project because he is not interested in solving his customers' problems.

Seeing that the custome is writing a review a year after I was at his home giving a FREE estimate is the 1st question. I suspect it is because the work is still not done. Second, the customer pointed out his poor decking, I didn't. I'm in the plastering business. I explained to him that if I earn his business I would be more than happy to GIVE him any contractor names. He seemed offended and stated I need not give him an estimate. In the customer's review he states I'm not interested in solving MY customers problems. Nothing is further than the truth, just read all my reviews! But you first must be My customer! The customer is probably looking to get his pool done this swim season, saw the quality of my reviews, and it is still bothering him. Respectfully, Mark Norris

We've been in this house 12 years and the pool had not been re-plastered. Last summer, the plaster on the bottom began to bubble and crack. I also notice that I was having to put water in the pool more frequently that I thought. We called three different companies for quotes. All three came out quickly and gave us quotes on the spot. Mark was the only one to mention that we had a single drain and recommended a dual drain. For the extra money, we thought this was a good idea, especially since we were getting ready to sell our house and one of the questions on the Seller's Disclosure has to do with the pool having a dual drain! Mark's bid was in the middle of the three but we liked his professionalism and no-BS approach. After the new year, we got back in touch with him to let him know we were ready to start. We were flexible with the timing as we had nothing pressing, so he got started on Jan 14. He came out, set up the pump to remove the water from the pool and the crew showed up the next morning to start demolition. It took two days for the crew to remove the old plaster and chip out around the various fixtures (light, inlets, drain). We weren't replacing the tile, so they had to chip more deeply an area about 8and quot; wide beneath the tile to ensure a smooth transition to the tile. Despite temperatures in the 30's, the crew worked their tails off. After preparing the surface, they put on some sort of brownish undercoat, then left that to set for several days, returning on Monday the following week to plaster. The result is a beautiful new surface to the pool, chemicals perfectly balanced and a new main drain. The water loss I had seen before the work was done has been completely eliminated. I've called Mark several times with follow-up questions and he's always responded very quickly. He's given me a lot of good information on my and quot;newand quot; pool and I hope the next owners will appreciate the job Mark did as much as I do!

Mark was very responsive to my request for a bid, and when I chose him over another competitor he was able to begin the work quickly. Paradise was selected because of Mark's knowledge, a marginally lower bid than the competitor, and because I felt that being able to work directly with the business owner (Mark), rather than a hired salesman, would be helpful. Also, Paradise had done the plaster sub job for a new pool constructed last year a few blocks from our house, and the owner was satisfied with the work. Mark's and quot;demolitionand quot; team was able to begin quickly by dropping off an electric water pump to drain the pool. They began actual plaster and tile demolition work the next day. New tile was put in the day after that, and new plaster two days after that -- by an 8-man plaster crew. Overall job took about 7 days. There were no delays in scheduling the crews or getting the work done; Mark had the resources. Mark did a good job of feeding materials (tiles and lights) to the crew ahead of when they needed them. Paradise is well capitalized; because our pool is quite large for a residential pool, Mark used their big plaster pumping truck (rather than their small one) -- and it is a sight to behold. Mark is quite professional and accessible/easy to communicate with. Overall I am very happy with the job and would recommend Paradise Pool Plastering for any work of this type. The staff know what quality is and want to deliver it; the gentleman who came back after the plaster had partially cured to drill air holes into the spa did a very precise job. I did have to remind the crews during the project of a couple of the smaller steps: casting the spa step, epoxying the one crack that we found in the original gunite pool structure. And the gentleman who installed the tile had to come back after the project was nominally done to replace one exposed tile that was poorly cut and mis-aligned. But Mark was happy to do that, and I applaud his commitment to delivering a quality result.
Description of Work: We are currently doing a renovation of our 16 year old pool, spa and surrounding deck. I am subbing out the individual parts, and chose Mark Norris' Paradise Pool Plastering for the the in-pool work: all new plaster, all new tile, new dual drains in both spa and pool (to meet current Federal safety regulations), a new step to make it easier to get into the spa, and all lights replaced.

Exceptional experience. Mark provided the estimate and fully explained the process. I had read the reviews on Anglieslist noting their prices were reasonable and thus, did not waste time getting additional estimates. Mark's crew was prompt, courteous and professional. They arrived as expected (actually, we were hosting family for Thanksgiving so Mark pushed up the start date to ensure the pool was completed by Thanksgiving and it was), completed their work efficiently and completed the work without any issues. The pool and tilework looks exceptional and we could not have asked for a more pleasant experience. Highest recommendations from this satisfied customer.

The owner initially seemed to be really nice and since he had reviews on angies list we thought he would do a decent job. He said he would give us a discount of 200 if we did the replastering and curing process. The guys came did the replaster and we had to keep calling them multiple times for the curing process inspite of paying them upfront for that. They did a horrible job and added crazy amount of chemicals in there and did not check the chemistry. The plaster was etching in a week. We then called our regular pool guy for maintenence and he explained that PARADISE POOL PLASTERING had done such a pathetic job. When we tried to contact him he just blamed it on our pool maintence. we just checked the water and found high acid levels and our pool guy never added any acids. So it was very evident that PARADISE Pool Plastering had messed it up big time. We have tried calling him multiple times but never got any response. He does not want to confront because he knows it is his mistake. He never takes our calls. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY and we will be taking the next steps to address this issue legally.

After insisting that I give the member a "special price" it became clear that it was more about the money to them then the quality of the work. We still got a B for price even thought we were the best price.Apparently companies need to do it for free for the member to give an A. Im not sure why the member brings up a curing process when what he got was a start up FOR FREE along with the blue dye for FREE. The $200.00 discount was what the member extorted out of us to write a review after we were done with the job. When we were done with the plaster and the start up, there was no review and no one to pick up the phones when we called. All of our ratings should be A's. We showed up on time, did a excellent job, had the start up going immediately and left the pool to the member impeccable. After finishing the job it was impossible to get ahold of Beepa for final payment. They would not answer the door. Typical with people who negotiate the price and always want something thrown in for free, NOT the typical ANGIES LIST user that we are so used to. With over 100 pool service companies, there are only 3 that are NPC certified. Being one of those three, our chemical tech who was out there FOR FREE for four days straight, left the water chemistry perfect, as always with all our start ups. We then left it in the hands of the member. With people who negotiate price more than anything and want free things, such as the member, he tried taking care of the chemicals himself! Home owners similar to the member, are 9 times out of 10 unable to take care of the pool due to not being able to understand how to do chemicals and matienance. I personally went over to the member's house to check the chemicals after I was contacted regarding etching. To get an unbiased reading, I took the sample to Leslie's pool supply and received a computer readout of the chemical analysis. Not surprisingly, the member had every single chemical drastically out of range, he even let the water get so low that the water was below the skimmer so the pump was sucking air. Etching is due to poor chemical maintainence and nothing else! It can be typical for the incompetent homeowner such as the member, who tries to do the chemicals themselves. We have contacted his "regular pool guy" who actually just took the pool over a few days ago. We have our chemical logs from when we did our perfect start up and a chemical analysis from Leslie's of the member's incompetence. We patiently wait for the member's response to determine if we contact our lawyer for libel. Mark Norris, Owner.

I called and talked directly to Mark Norris, the owner. He immediately gave me a rough estimate of the work over the phone and said he would be by my house in 30 minutes (!) to see the pool to confirm his estimate. I couldn't believe it - I had never had such an easy interaction with and quick response from a home service company before! Sure enough, he was over within 30 minutes. We hit it off immediately. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He checked out my pool and gave me a finalized estimate that ended up being VERY close to his original estimate over the phone. In fact, the only reason he had to revise the estimate was because I had not given him accurate dimensions for our pool. When I gave him the go ahead to do it, we simply shook on it and that was that! He said, and quot; When do you want to do it, does tomorrow morning work for you?and quot; Once again, I couldn't believe how easy and convenient this whole thing was. I said absolutely and he said he would send over some people the next morning. The whole thing took about an hour from start to finish (from my first phone call to him to when he left my house). The next day 2 guys came over in the morning and got right to it. They too were very personable and professional. They were quick and thorough and finished within a few hours, which was pretty impressive because we have a pretty big pool. All in all I was very impressed by how quick and easy everything was. In addition to the ease of it all, they did high quality work for an extremely reasonable price. I will definitely be calling them again whenever I need any repair/remodel work on our pool or pool area.

Description of Work: Mark and his crew were amazing. I heard about Mark from the pool plaster wholesale company where I purchased my pool tile. I reached out to him after a bad experience with our first pool contractor. Mark came right over and rescued us! He agreed to complete the job for what we had left in our budget in spite of a lot of rework that had to be done. His crew really saved us! Very timely, very professional, very quick, and EXCELLENT work. Would highly recommend Mark to anyone AND he recommended a terrific pool maintenance guy, Chad Stadler, Pool Doc. Chad handled all of the pool start-up including daily brushing for a week and all the chemical needed to get you back in your pool!

A nice family to work for. The spa jets were special order due to the age of the pool. One inch jets are not made any more, but they did come in and were installed immediately. I am unaware of why the quality is not A+. The pool actually had 3xs the amount of cracks behind the tile which we charged no extra. We pride ourselves on always being worth more than your paid and are happy Gordon gave us an A overall!!

The owner came out to do the estimate, and he was a nice guy. I think the problem with my job is it was so small he gave it to one of his guys to use as a weekend project. The plastering job looks good they just started 2 weeks later than originally stated and they left lots of rock, dust and debris down in the pipes of the pool. Our pool cleaner eventually had to run some high pressure water through the pipes to get all of the junk out. There are not many companies in the area that do this work, so I might use them again (if needed) I would just be looking for cleanup issues and I would want the owner to lock in a start date (or small range of dates). Overall, they did a good plastering job for a reasonable price.

I called Mark Norris, Paradise Pool Plastering, and he came out and gave me a quote. Actually, after I told him the size on the phone he gave me a quote. I was concerned that he could do this sight unseen, but he then came out and did a personal inspection and when he actually saw it discovered that numerous tile were coming off and it was more than just a plaster job. Anyhow, long story short, I agreed with his price which became only $200 more and he scheduled his people to come out and do the work. I work for a company that allows me to work at home but have to travel with some regularity. I wanted to be home when they did the work. Mark could have done the job but I was going to be out of town for a week. He said that was okay, his guys do two of these a day and I didn't need to be there. But I said I wanted to be here when they did the job. A seemingly small thing, but big thing to me was what Mark said when I said I wanted to be here when it was done. Mark said something to the effect that "we do two of these per day but I know this is a big deal to you and I you want to be comfortable with how this gets done." He was ABSOLUTELY right. It was a big deal to me and a lot of money. Plus, as soon as the pool is replastered it has to be refilled and immediately get special brushing and chemical treatment. I didn't want to be out of town when all this was going to get done, period. Step one was to have one crew come out and prepare the surface by chiseling off all the old, weak and flaking plaster. His guys knocked the prep work out in a couple hours. We then scheduled the replastering for two weeks out when I would be back home. Mark's team came out early Wednesday morning to start the job. They got to our house around 8:30 and were DONE by noon! There were probably 5-6 men on his crew that new exactly what they were doing. They are very experienced with some of them having over 15 years experience. It made me feel good to know that they knew what they were doing and that I was going to get a good job. They immediately started their prep work and then began mixing the plaster on their truck bed out on the street. They had a huge, long hose that they pumped the plaster with all the way to our back yard. There's a real knack to doing this right, from spraying the new plaster to fine finishing the surface. And these guys were absolutely pro craftsmen at doing this. You could tell they could do this in their sleep. They were like fine finish carpenters but doing pool plaster. Needless to say, our pool looks like brand new. It is beautiful. I can't say enough about Paradise Pool Plastering. I highly recommend them to everyone who wonders if they can afford to get their pool redone and whether they weill be able to trust the company. Paradise Pool Plastering will do excellent work, do it fast and do it with pride.
Description of Work: Our home and pool are now 18 years old and for the past couple years I've known that the plaster was sorely in need of repair. It was flaking, chipped, stained, rough and just a mess. I thought I might be able to fix it yself so I drained the pool and started to do my own mini-plaster job. This was a mistake because there was just too much. I asked both Leslies Pool Supplies and Warehouse Pool Supply for recommendations and they gave me a list of companies but they really couldn't give me any insight into who was good, trustworthy or anything about them. All I knew really was that it was going to be expensive and I had heard horror stories about people having pools installed and the pool company not finishing the job and or doing terrible work. I was not optimistic that I'd find a company I could trust or one that I could afford. I figured this would be a $10,000 project. I also needed the cool deck surface around the pool repaired as well. That's the textured surface on concrete that's cool to walk on. With my list in hand, I called a company on the list and started to talk to them about my pool and the receptionist gave me a general idea of what it might cost and as I suspected, it was gonna be too expensive. I didn't even have anyone come out to give me an estimate because what she told me reaffirmed for me that $10,000 was probably going to be right. I also asked her about pool cool deck repair and she referred me to Charles Bryant of Americoat. He came out right away and did a fantastic job. I have referred him and his company in Angies List, and I bring him up now because he referred me to Mark Norris, owner of Paradise Pool Plastering

Paradise Pool Plastering was easy to work with and performed well. They delivered a quality product at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: We have a commercial pool that needed upgrading to meet code requirements. The pool also needed re-plastering and tiling to enhance function and esthetics. Mark Norris discussed the code requirements, pool equipment modernization and various surface options to enhance service life and function. The entire experience was very positive. The estimate was done by the owner who checked in on the job every day. They did a topnotch job and the pool looks better than new with its blue “Quatzscapes” finish. The job was done on schedule and for the contracted price. They did a good job of cleaning up when the project was finished. We highly recommend this company and could not be happier with the results.
