The pool had been plastered by another company. The result was inadequate and Mark re-plastered the pool. Mark's workmanship to replace the original job was satisfactory, but later a rust spot was noticed on the wall near the spa. Mark was contacted and after several attempts, he repaired the spot for $250, although he was unable to match his plaster. He also stated that the repair was not covered under warranty and that the probable cause was a piece of rebar too close to the wall. He assured us that in the process of repair they would spray a rubber seal over the edge of the rebar. The rust spot re-appeared about a month later. Originally, Mark assured us that he would return and repair it again, but he failed to do so after numerous calls and promises. After four months of attempting to get the spot repaired again, we asked for a refund of our $250. After numerous promises to mail a check, the issue was reported to the BBB. He did not respond to them either. His original workmanship was acceptable, but follow-up actions were quite unsatisfactory.

Homeowener was made aware that there is no metal in plaster and therefore no warranty against it occurring. It is a biproduct of pool pool construction. We agreed to repair an issue that was not or fault for $250 with no warranty. It reappeared and the customer asked for their money back! We refunded the entire amount even though they new they were not entitled it. If asked, they will tell you the plaster is fantastic and the reason for not receiving an A has nothing to do with the the original unbelievable quartz finished we produced. The best job at the best price!

Brendan suggested Quartzscapes, which we thought sounded like a good idea. The work was done in a timely manner (working around rain showers), with good communication with Brendan and a clean work site at the end. We are also pleased with Paradise Pool's suggestion for startup chemistry, the "Pool Doc". The pool looks great, and we were very happy with the whole process.
Description of Work: We checked Angie's List for the best provider for pool re-plastering, and met with Paradise Pool's Brendan Norris.. Since we were pleased with Brendan and the price, we were comfortable with only getting one bid. I am not interested in getting the lowest price someone will give me, when the quality of the work overall can vary so much.

This home owner did not hire me! His contractor hired us to plaster his pool. I have explained to Mike that plaster doesn't rust! You need metal for corrosion to happen! But he doesn't understand the properties of steel or plaster. He has a glass surface that looks spectacular! Except where rust is leaching through the glass surface. I have reached out to Mike even though again, rust isn't an issue with plaster. Hopefully after he reads this he will change his review. But as I stated earlier, he never hired or paid Paradise Pool Plastering.

We decided to go with another provider for our pool re-plastering. Big mistake, they did a poor job and we needed to find someone to re-do the work. I contacted Mark at Paradise via email and he replied the same day. I talked to him on Tuesday and explained what had happened. He was very sympathetic and said that he was starting a job on Wednesday and he would be able to come by when he was done and look at our pool and if the original estimate would still be valid. I texted him on Wednesday to let him know that I had an appointment but would leave the gate open for him. He did not respond nor did he come by to look at our pool. I texted him again that evening and asked if he would be able to help us with our pool. He responded that he would call me on Thursday. I never heard from him on Thursday either. Since our previous pool contractor had poor communication and poor follow through on what he said he was going to do, we won't be doing business with Paradise Pools.

I contracted Mark and he had Brendan come out the next day and provide an estimate to replaster my pool and hot tub and gave me options to upgrade from plaster to either a quartz or pebble finish. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost for the quartz finish so I selected that option. I chose to leave the existing tile around the top of the pool so that made it much easier. Unfortunately, the weather has been off and on for rain the last month so it took a few weeks for their crew to get started with the removal of the old plaster and they had it out within a day. They returned a couple of days later to shoot the bond coat and a couple of days later the finish coat. The overall experience was excellent. I never had anyissues and Brendan kept in constant contact during the process to keep me informed on the schedule. The finish looks outstanding and I would highly recommend them.

Call to get an estimate went well. Brendan arrived on time as the appointment was scheduled. Took the measurements and showed me examples of the upgrade quartz finishes that are available. We decided to stick with traditional white plaster, simply because that's what we prefer. I believe I received the estimate within 48 hours. We traded 1 or 2 emails to work out other details, such as how I wanted the tiles on our steps re-installed (in a ribbon fashion instead of every 12" inches), and I also had them add a statement in the quote regarding completion schedule. The quote was finalized the next day. I then spoke to Mark Norris on the phone more about the schedule, as we were working around a very rainy few weeks in the Austin area. I believe we waited about 1 week until the weather cleared up that they could come to start the chip out. This was the first time I had ever had a pool re-plastered, so my knowledge was limited to internet research. This is what they did: First they drained the pool, which took a full day (35,000 gallons). The next clear day, they began the chip out. They cut just below my tiles, and did a chip-out down to the gunite for about 18" below the tile. For the balance of the pool, they did what I'd call a matrix pattern of chipping into the existing plaster about every 18", and in some areas where my former plaster had worse spalling/delamination, they performed more aggressive chip-out. They cleaned all of the chip-out debris into bags and carted it off by hand into their truck. We waited a few more days for the weather to be clear again for the actual re-paster. When they returned, they did more clean-up prep, including acid washing around my existing tiles to remove some black algae I had pointed out to them. They then applied to all surfaces what they called a bond coat, which was a dark grey mixture which was troweled on, and we had to let that cure. A day or so later, they returned for the final re-plaster. There was a crew of about 6 guys I believe. I work out of my house, so I watched the entire process. I believe they troweled/smoothed about 3 coats.....that whole process took from about 8am until 5pm. And we immediately began refilling the pool with my two garden hoses; the refill was accomplished in 22 hours. It's important for plaster curing to have the re-start chemical balance be just right, so Mark recommended I hire a pro, which I did. The pool looks great, so I am happy with the quality of the work. The one negative during the experience is that the crew failed to install 2 of the 3 directional eyeballs in my return jets prior to leaving, and it took 22 days, and several txts and emails to Mark to get them delivered to me; but I finally got them (which is why he gets a B in responsiveness).
Description of Work: Pool re-plaster - in white plaster. Also installed dual deep-end drains to meet new code requirements. I have a large pool. It is 40' long by 20' wide at the diving well bowl, and 8'-6" deep in the diving well. Approx 35,000 gallons.

I described a lot of the details up above. I have not found an honest person in Austin yet. I'm still looking. Oh by the way. the manager did say he would provide me with names of tile guys. Still waiting on that, but never mind. Oh and he tore up my stone deck (a piece) and took a piece of tile out to see what was underneath. I never would have let him do that if I thought he was not going to do the job. Now I'm left with an even terrible looking stone work and a piece of tile out of place!! Horrible people!!!
Description of Work: NOTHING! That was the problem!! I have been talking to them and emailing them for weeks about replacing the grout around the tile in my pool. I then decided to replace the tile also because just replacing the grout would not work. After all this then they tell me they do not do small jobs like this. WHAT!!! Why were you wasting my time and yours? They misled me and I'm not happy with this provider or Angie. I thought she would do a better job then I did of choosing people. I was hoping honest people would be on this list!!!

Sorry [Member name removed] feels this way! We are first and foremost a plaster company. Not a tile re grouting company. We do all size PLASTER jobs. She didn't even want a tile job at first, just grout. The uncontrollable amount of damage and mess caused by adding grout to old existing grout.. Well, you don't need an M.B.A. To figure this out. Read all our reviews and you find out, not only are we the best plaster company in Texas, but we don't sell what you don't need. But if you need it, we will tell you. We don't do half a.. As you read our reviews you find a constant... We do it right. On time. On budget. And what you need. Good luck and look for a tile company. Mark Norris

Paradise Pools was ONLY company that had reasonable terms of agreement. All other bids received required 50% deposit UPFRONT and FULL PAYMENT prior to completing the job. Marks payment terms were very reasonable. 50% once pool is drained and prepped (old plaster removed - all old tile removed - all old pool fittings removed - spread special bonding surface to hold plaster). Balance of payment provided once pool is completed. My pool was built in August 2001, Grecian Shaped - Light Gray Plaster - Two Water Sheers on back wall of pool. Pool perimeter is ~130' (counting the beach area pop out) Last couple of years we noticed it was difficult to keep chemistry stable, algae was very quick to come back and challenging to keep up with. Pool seemed to be losing water more so than usual in the summer season. Mark spent time with us to discuss options to have pool re-plastered with new tiles. He did NOT UP-SELL the project. He was very open in stating he is frugal himself and what would be needed to make the pool look nice and not spend too much money. I really appreciate this about the interaction. He sent us to his pool materials store to pick out the tile. We went with standard white plaster, new tile for around the pool and our water fall wall with a different tile. My wife of course chose the upgraded tile which cost more due to glass accents - which added to the price/cost of the project. His crew came in early - was very CLEAN and did not leave us with a messy yard. Work was done efficiently as ~4-5 people were here working on it (they knew what they were doing). Marked called me a day later and informed me that a hole was found behind my light fixture and I was slowly loosing water. He said during the prep work they filled the hole with high grade cement (believe he said hydraulic cement) to fill and seal up the hole. I mentioned that one of two water falls were leaking - he had his team dig into the wall - repair the leak with special sealant and prepped it for tile work. Both of these repairs were performed for NO EXTRA CHARGE. He said we already had the material on the truck - he did not consider this major structural repair. The tile guys came out to install the tile. I came home from work - I inspected the tile work and I did not like how the tiles were installed. I took video of my concerns - texted Mark. He called me back and scheduled his tile guys to come back and rework the areas of my concern. No questions or push back. He said he wanted to ensure I was happy and appreciated the quick feedback since there was time to do the rework prior to plastering. As we looked at the progress being made, we looked at the coping around the entrance of the pool and now see it looks weathered compared to the new tile work done. Mark said it will be fine - he will have his team sand it down to get a fresh look on it. He did not see a need to spend an extra $500-$700 to replace it. This was done at no extra charge and looked great after the sanding/cleaning. Plaster team showed up several days later - the pool looked OUTSTANDING. Bright White - High Grade white plaster. All new fittings inside the pool. I am very detailed and as you can see - I waited quite some time before processing my feedback. The entire pool season this year was the BEST ever. My chemicals are stable, water bill reduced, pool cooler due to high white plaster color. My family and friends enjoyed the pool this season. The quality and workmanship was OUTSTANDING. Mark and his team are all PROFESSIONAL and look to please customers. The pool looks like a resort pool now. We are extremely pleased with the work performed. I strongly recommend Paradise Pools Plaster for your pool remodel and re-plastering work. Mark's quote/bid was $1,000 to $2,500 cheaper than my other 3 bids from local known vendors. Mark and his Son run the business - they are great people with solid work ethics and really want his clients to be more than satisfied with the quality and workmanship.

Had a hairline crack in my pool plaster and wanted just that area re-done. Pool plasterers don't apparently perform small jobs like that. My problem may get worse or may just stay the way it is for a while. Had the pool re-plastered about 4-5 years ago by Cody but warranty only covered me for a year. With the recent amount of rain in central Texas and the nature of the soil, there could be some soil expansion/ movement around the pool area. Who knows. May be looking for a pool plasterer next year . This guy seemed like a straight shooter to me.
Description of Work: Didn't actually hire this provider but he gave me good honest answers about what he could/would do. Turns out the job I was asking about was too small for this company but I learned a few things about pool plastering etc.

A very good experience from start to finish. Brendan came out promptly to provide a quotation, and, once agreed, came by again to provide samples for the QuartzScape and tile. Work commenced shortly thereafter. They had specific crews for specific jobs i.e. removal of old plaster, tiling, finishing. Everything was left clean and tidy after each day's work. Total job time was approximately 10 days from our first call to them. Would highly recommend.

We had a inground pool that was approx. 18-years old with the original plaster surface in the pool. We wanted to completely resurface the pool with a mini-pebble epoxy surface. We got three different quotes and Paradise Pools responded with one of the lower bids. We choose them over the alternatives because they provided a more complete description of what was included, answered all my questions, and had great reputation as a local family business. They had several different crews specialized for each phase of the work: draining and preparing, removing the old plaster surface, preparing the pool with drilled holes every 8-10 inches, applying the undercoating, and applying the final mini-pebble finish. We also had all of our boarder ceramic tiles replaced as well as brought the main drain up to current safety standards. We were very happy with the finished product and any minor issues along the way were resolved. I also liked that they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. The whole project was completed in about two weeks start to finish.

Although I had a little bit of difficulty reaching them at first (two unreturned phone messages to schedule the initial consult), I'm so glad we hired them to do the work. Mark and Brendan were very knowledgeable and professional, and seemed to have a good working relationship with the skilled workers they hire to perform each step of the process. The site was cleaned up daily and we were pleased with the quality of the workmanship, i.e. the uniformity of the Quartzscape, the lay-out of the flagstone coping, etc. And, to top it all off, not only was theirs the lowest of the three bids, but they also came in under budget and credited us the difference!
Description of Work: We had a dated pool that was in decent condition, but needed updating. After comparing bids from three different contractors, we hired Mark Norris (and Brendan) to oversee the removal and replacement of our old plaster, coping and waterline tile with fresh Quartzscape plaster, flagstone coping and matching tile.

The plaster looks great, they did a good job. They were quick on taking out the old plaster and replacing the new plaster. We had to call them several times to come and bring in the eyeballs of the pool and an electric cord that belongs to us. They only take cash or check. I would tell other members to ask about the way they take the money. They ask for half on the day they started the other half when they completed the job. Had to do more ourselves than they did for the money they asked. They were quick and very nice when they came to do the bid. They had a great rating so that is why we went with them. They also had the most positive reviews. I would hire them again, hopefully we wont have to.

Brendan came to our home to measure our pool and he gave us a bid in early April. I am a CPA and we wanted to get started on the pool remodel soon after tax season was over. I talked with five replastering companies and got bids from three including Paradise. I did all ofmy initial research on Angies List. When I was ready to make a decision, I called the office at Paradise and asked them if I could speak with Mark. We had not met at that time but he returned my call promptly. We visited on the phone, I told Mark I was ready to make a decision right away, but that we needed to meet with him and go over the details of the contract first. Mark came to our home the next day, looked over the pool and met with my wife and me. Mark is very down to earth and we developed a rapport very quickly. It was clear to us that Mark enjoys his job, and cares about his work and his customers a great deal. It was important to me that the owner was accessible, and that was definitely the case throughout the job. Mark was incredibly helpful every step of the way. He helped my wife and me a great deal in making selections of coping, tile and the finish on the pool. We have twin daughter who are seniors in high school, and my wife asked him if there would be any possibility to fast track the job so that we would be done in time to host a party for the kids after their Prom. Mark went out of his way to accelerate the start date on our project. Paradise began the job later that same week, so that our pool would be ready before Prom. Ten days later we had a beautiful new pool ready for swimming. All of the guys on Mark's team are employees of his company. That is very unusual. All of the guys were courteous, polite, and most of all they were craftsmen. Remodeling a pool is not something we had been through before, so we were apprehensive about the project and the choices we had to make at first, but in the end we feel that quality of the job and the value we received is outstanding. We could not be happier with our decision to contract with Paradise Pool Plastering and we love our newly remodeled pool.
Description of Work: Mark and his team at Paradise Pool Plastering completely remodeled our 12 year old pool in Circle C. They removed the old white limestone coping that was falling apart, removed the tile, and replaced the coping with a beautiful stone that is much denser than we had before, replaced the tile, and replaced the plaster with Stonescape Tahoe Blue mini pebble finish. The results are pretty astonishing. Our pool has a completely new look that is much more attractive than we could have anticipated. At the end of the job we engaged Paradise to replace our pool heater because the quality and value of the work on the pool was outstanding. Mark's guys performed the same high quality of work replacing the heater as they did on our pool remodel.

Mark Norris (owner) was responsive to all my calls and questions throughout the job. He was friendly and courteous and even willing to help troubleshoot a leak problem we had with our pool. His crews showed up on the dates as promised and were clearly well experienced and thorough. As others have noted, all trash and debris was removed by the end of the job - which only took about a week from start to finish. Now a month later, the finished product is beautiful and uniform without any splotches. It does appear a little darker than what I had hoped for but we have a lot of shade in our backyard (Tropic Blue pictures shown on the internet display pools that are in full sun). I recommend letting Brendan and Jessie (Paradise Pool) do your chemical start-up rather than trying to do it yourself. It is an extra $350 but the chemicals are probably half of that cost and the potential for ruining your new surface just isn't worth it. Overall, a very professional job delivered as promised without any problems or extra fees.

Mark and Brendan came out to quote the job a couple days after I called them. They were very nice and very professional. We wanted to start fairly soon and they said they would be able to start right away and finish in just a few days. At first we were going to just get a quote on an acid wash, since our pool was only 5 years old. Mark noticed that the plaster was actually raised and not attached to the gunite, therefore creating hollow spots and cracks all over the bottom of the pool. He pointed out poor workmanship from the original plaster installers, and therefore created the cracking problem. He said we would need to remove parts of the plaster and re-plaster. He then quoted us a price on a stone surface and it was not that much more, so we decided to get a much nicer looking surface than just plaster. The first crew arrived on time and were also very nice and answered questions. They were not sub-contracted, but worked for Paradise, which we really liked. The next crew again was very nice and made sure the area was kept clean. The job was finished in 4 days and looks amazing. We ended up with Aqua White from Stonescapes as our new pool surface and we love the color. They delivered on service and product just as promised. We would definitely recommend them! Thanks guys!

Mark Norris and Paradise Plastering came to our rescue when our pool contractor left our job. Paradise's bid for our pool and koi pond was $2,000 less than our former bid and included a lifetime warrantee. They were on time, worked diligently and professionally. We are ecstatic with the results and would highly recommend them to others.

Mark made a personal introductory visit to see the pool to determine our needs and to show us finish samples. In just a few days we had a contract and were on the schedule for work to commence at our convenience within a couple of weeks. His crews arrived on the site promptly each day, worked non-stop, showed us the utmost respect and thoroughly cleaned up their mess each day. We were impressed, not only with the quick 4 days from draining to re-fill, but also with the quality of workmanship. We found Mark to be quite attentive to detail and a hands-on manager of his crew. Paradise Pool Plastering’s professionalism, yet friendly outlook, made the service go smoothly and we can recommend them with confidence.
Description of Work: We needed to re-plaster our pool in the Dripping Springs area and our pool service company referred us to Mark Norris of Paradise Pool Plastering which proved to be a wonderful experience.

WaterShaper Pools finished off our huge spa/overflow pool project with Paradise Pool Plastering doing the plaster work. PARADISE WAS GREAT! The owner, Mark, showed up initially to review what was to be done and took a real interest in all of the details, including flush mount jets (12 of them) plastered drain covers (6 of them) and the finish work on a unique auto-fill water system. This is the 5th pool we have had built and our first (and final) in Texas (previously in CA and AZ), so we are not new-commers to pool design and construction. Mark was extremely knowledgable and knew exactly what to ask us. His crew, lead by Juan, was puntual, organized, neat and very professional. When Mark left to handle another pool, Juan took charge and drove his crew to fantastic results! Could not be more pleased with their work. not only are the benches and steps perfectly formed, but every bit of plaster that ended up on the coping, the tile or the brick decks was removed and the entire project site, pool and patios was left immaculately cleaned. We cannot thank Mark and Juan enough for such a tremendous final touch on a truly terrific pool. Also, we cannot thank Greg Gray (the WaterShaper) and WaterShaper Pools for bringing such quality craftsmen to the complete the final steps our the construction of our pool. The best we have ever had and I would recoomend both Paradise Pool Plastering and Watershaper Pools to ANYONE who wants quality work and design in putting in a swimming pool and/or spa. A final note: I was very impressed with the communication and interaction between Paradise and Watershaper in meeting the expectations of us, the customer.
