I hired Northstar to help me with my home staging business. They picked up all my pre-packed bins, boxes and artwork and delivered them to my job site. Later in the day they came back and picked up our tools, supplies and whatever we didn't use and returned it to our warehouse.

They did a good job. Their prices were competitive.

Three polite, hard working, friendly guys showed up on time, never took a break helped out in packing and organizing, moving furniture. These guys were tops... especially compared to some other movers I've used in the past.

In a word everything about the move was outstanding. The team was efficient, careful, and professional. No time was wasted, yet every care was given to our more fragile pieces. Moves are stressful. Northstar went out of their way to make our move much less stressful than anticipated. We will recommend them to friends, family, and colleagues without hesitation.

Having had previous bad experiences with movers, I was apprehensive. I needn't have worried. These guys were amazing. Showed up right on time, moved everything carefully, negotiated many stairs at my old place, and were very efficient. Also very friendly and pleasant to be around. The entire move only took seven hours. I can't recommend them highly enough. Just be careful when you schedule the move, and ask many questions. The day before the move, a "dispatcher" told me they wouldn't touch the refrigerator because of a plumbing connection for an ice-maker, or a china cabinet because it was screwed into the wall. I had to rush around to find someone to take care of it. This problem, though, had nothing to do with the men who actually did the move.

The team got off to a very rocky start. They were handling our furniture and boxes quite roughly and I was very upset with their approach. Things did get better as the day progressed, however, and our move was completed without breakage or much damage to our belongings.

It went well. They showed up within the time frame provided. The company didn't charge us extra for Sunday move. Most of the boxes and small items we moved ourselves week before, but what was left was very heavy and bulky. They walked around the house to take a look and started working right away. They were efficient, pleasant and worked very hard. Not everything was packed (we stayed all night packing but ran out of time) so they helped us with what was left. Make sure to walk around the house after they load everything, there were lots of small stuff left around. I wasn't paying attention so I can't really blame them. They quickly took apart beds and assembled them back at the house. One of the lamps got broken which they pointed out to me. It was old and cheap, so it wasn't big deal. One of the house plants (palm tree) lost several branches in the process. Next time I would move them myself or ask to be put in tall boxes. Nothing of value was damaged, overall - great experience!

It went far better than expected. I can't recommend Northstar enough.

They were amazing. They came in and had everything moved out in less than 45 min. They arrived on time and I was very impressed with their services.

They told me their was a problem with the truck and there was about a two week delay in having my belongings delivered to me. My things were picked up on April 26th and delivered in Chicago on May 19, 2007. My biggest problem with the company is that they never called to inform me of the delay.

They did a great job and only one item was broken in the entire move. It took a lot longer than I expected, but I never asked in advance how long they thought it would take, so perhaps my error in unrealistic expectation. They were courteous and helpful and I would use this company again and recommend them to others.

This company was more expensive by 5 cents a pound compared to competitors, but I saw all the A ratings for them and wanted to be sure nothing went wrong. The movers arrived close to on time, although they spent some time driving around in the wrong condo complex next door. They brought 4 men so they finished the job in a little over 5 hours. They crew was efficient though not particularly friendly. The lead supervisor was surly and even rude at times. He was getting ready to leave the company and obviously had a short timer attitude. They were willing to pack some heavy items in my car for me. There was a 10 day delivery window. The day before the 10th day I called them and had a hard time getting a delivery date. It ended up being 3 days past the window, but I have heard nothing from them about compensation for that delay. Some of the boxes had puncture holes or were crushed on top. Since I had packed them they blamed it on the quality of my boxes.

The packing and moving took forever because the estimate was off. They broke things, put tape on furniture, put items in boxes with no padding, etc. They gave us a hard time when we brought the broken items to their attention. I've never seen a company act in such an unprofessional way.

They were fast, efficient, and thorough.

Very nice people. Four people came out to move stuff from one room to another. They only problem I had was that there was a TV I wanted removed which they took out, but set on the side of the street. It was an old TV and I doubt anyone was going to take it.

The crew they sent out arrived ten minutes before the scheduled start time. They came in and surveyed the items to be moved and proceeded to load the truck with no delay. Throughout the day the crew was quick and professional. The Supervisor (unfortunately I forget his name), was very experienced and kept his crew in check and made sure that they were handling all items appropriately. The truck was loaded in about 4 and 1/2 hours and unloaded in about 3 hours. I anticipated that the job would take 4 to 5 hours, but it did take longer. We had a couple of very heavy and bulky pieces and one of them had to go upstairs in the new house. The crew was able to handle the items with no real problems. The experience of the Supervisor was invaluable in getting these items in the house with no injuries or damage to the items or the house. The only shortcoming was that some of our boxes were not placed in the correct rooms. Overall, not the cheapest, but well worth the money. I highly recommend.

They broke many items, they charged outrageous extra fees (example: they wrapped my $40 microwave which never needed wrapping before and charged me an extra $9 for it + tape fees for an unusually thin roll of tape). They also tried to cover up their damage (for weeks I was finding broken items). They had even broken two items that they wrapped, don't ask me how. :( When I called the company, they paid me 67 cents per pound as per their insurance contract. So if they break your computer, they'll give you $10. Thank goodness I moved my own computer the day before! Terrible company. I don't understand how these same people could have gotten As or awards. I don't remember how much it cost, but it was literally double the last move.

North Star was very helpful in my move. They did all the packing at a great price. They arrived when they said they would be here. I felt the price was very reasonable even more so considering there was absolutely no damage to any furniture. I highly recommend them.

They were careful with all of my belongings and I thought they did a perfect job in every aspect. They were amazing!

The movers arrived within the 8 o'clock hour as promised and were courteous and professional. They did an excellent job packing the truck and moving my items and even made suggestions that in the end saved many of my items.

All furniture was bubble wrapped and covered in blankets. They moved my stuff into storage and then into the house. They were very good. They did not charge me for the move between my apartment into the new house. They came when they said they would.

They arrived on time, were friendly and hard workers. Would definitely use them again.

Well done - the movers were very careful, no dings in furniture or nicks in the wall. It was a tough haul, with a double flight of stairs, and lots of tetris-type jockeying around. After the room was remodeled they came back on a day's notice with the same crew we had requested. The foreman forgot some paperwork and had to chase us down at work the next day to sign an inventory sheet - a minor hassle. But the work was done well and on budget.

They were very responsive and courteous. I would use them again.

We were very pleased with the packers. They worked quickly and cleanly, asked questions when necessary, and generally did a very good job. The movers & deliverers were pleasant and worked well, but were very slow. Overall, we are happy that they were tidy and careful, slow we can deal with!
