"Dear Angie’s List Member, Awesome, we love hearing from our clients about their moving experience. It is great to know your move went so great! As your moving company we know the importance of your belongings, therefore, we take the time to carefully wrap and protect to ensure their safe arrival. The movers will be happy to hear that their hard work and care for your belongings resulted in everything arriving in an excellent condition. It is a pleasure to have been your moving company of choice. I wish you all the best in your new home! Take care, Monica Orantes Client Loyalty Team NorthStarMoving.com"
moved swiftly and with care. They also were extremely polite and personable young men -- an added bonus. A week later, my fiance was moving but we called NorthStar too late for them to fit us in for a move on a weekend day. We used a different company and it was such a different experience. While those men also were professional and got the job done, their pace was significantly slower. Thus, NorthStar also proved to be a good move economically. I'm a pretty fussy consumer, and these folks really proved themselves worthy of a strong review.
"Dear Angie’s List Member, Thank you for taking time out of your day to share your wonderful moving experience with us. There is no greater satisfaction than knowing our clients were impressed with the moving experience, from start to finish. It’s been our pleasure to assist you on your second move with us. The movers will be ecstatic to hear that you had such kind things to say about them. We think they’re pretty great, too. Thank you once again for entrusting your belongings with us. We hope you are all unpacked now and are enjoying your new home. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy your day, Lauren Lustyan Client Loyalty Team [removed website]"
The estimator was very efficient and timely. I was impressed. The crew that picked up my stuff wrapped everything so carefully that a bomb could have gone off and not damaged my stuff -- or so I thought. They were fast efficient and polite.
I did my own packing and it did not turn out to be a great idea. Many items were broken or damaged. Small stuff but it was evident that the stuff was handled pretty roughly in the unloading and reloading.
The delivery was very timely. The goods arrived nine days after loading. I did not receive any updates while the goods were in transit (as promised). The driver was polite and professional. His hired helpers worked very hard.
I gave them a B because so many small things were damaged (broken glass, broken bookcase, broken lamp, crushed lamp shade.)
"Dear Angie’s List Member, It was a pleasure speaking to you about your move. At your convenience please complete the paperwork. If you need any assistance you may contact me at 1-800-275-7767 extension 119 or you can email me at [email protected]. Wishing you all the best, Wendy Paola"
Chatsworth, I'd expected to hear that a moving company couldn't schedule the kind of services I needed without
a reasonable amount of lead time. Speaking with Beatriz, I explained that I was moving in two days.
Beatriz was lovely and so helpful. She was able to arrange for the move on the day it was needed.
The men arrived on time. They were polite, professional and worked quickly and efficiently. My new
home is two stories and the fellows were up and down the stairs too many times to count. They
were careful with the furniture (which they'd shrink wrapped) and careful not to damage the walls.
The move went smoothly, without any problems. I'd certainly recommend NorthStar in Chatsworth
to anyone considering a moving company.
"Dear Angie’s List Member, Great! Thank you for taking the time to share your moving experience with us. It was our pleasure to assist you with your last minute move. We do our best to accommodate our clients, whenever possible! Beatriz will love to hear you thought she was lovely and helpful while coordinating your move. That is such a sweet compliment! The movers will also be happy to hear they were of such help to you. Our goal is to have the entire move run as smoothly as possible. We do our best to anticipate the areas where problems can arise and make an effort to prevent these sorts of problems from happening. I’m thrilled to hear the move went smoothly for you, from start to finish. Thank you once again, we hope to continue to be your moving company of choice. Best wishes, Lauren Lustyan Client Loyalty Team www.NorthStarMoving.com"
Moving and Storage, then in Chatsworth California, was contracted to move the contents
of my family?s home in July 2012. The
move was scheduled to take place on August 29, 2012, from Las Vegas Nevada, to
Eugene, Oregon. Instead of NORTHSTAR, an
unknown to me third party: NEW PLANET MOVING and STORAGE, of Las Vegas NV,
showed up unannounced the morning of the move. Three NEW PLANET employees
then conducted an In-Home Robbery during that day while loading our
property. It was a well rehearsed, divide
and distraction method. Isolating us to
avoid the detection of the movers stealing personal property.
The team
leader, a man who said his name was Yana, talked me out of buying additional insurance
coverage saying: "NORTHSTAR NEW PLANET
is affiliated with MOSHES in New York City, the movers of the rich and
famous. You can trust we are the best
movers in the country, you have nothing to worry about."
Yaniv, claimed
to be a citizen of Israel. A second Hispanic man Yaniv introduced as Carlos, later
denied his name, claiming his name was Andrew, A third young man Juan, a
citizen of Costa Rica. The three men worked together as a team, absconding with
at least the following items listed in a LV Metro Police Department report filed
the following week: Removed all cash
from wallets, ransacked backpacks, GPS equipment for the drive to the new
location, A Loaded Gun, Prescription Category 1 medication, syringes, Computer
Drives, many boxes set aside and labeled in Orange Tape; MOVERS DO NOT
TAKE.
During the
day someone would constantly be asking us ?what goes, what stays? calling us
from room to room. This allowed someone
else to rifle through our belongs.
They
deliberately failed to take articles destined for the moving truck. Hid and camouflaged those articles under
shopping bags and blankets.
The next
day, I contacted NORTHSTAR customer service employee, Wendy. When she was told of the robbery et.al. she chided
me for not taking the additional coverage, saying in effect I should not have
trusted Yaniv, her trusted subcontractor.
When she was told the robbery would be filed in an official police
report, Wendy said, "You might as well, I would." She refused consideration of the expressed
circumstances, offered no concern, service, or even surprise. When I requested to speak with the President,
ABRAHAM KATALAN, she refused. Later during the next telephone conversation,
after consultation with her management, she conveyed; "NORTHSTAR stands by
its subcontractors, period."
IT GETS WORSE:
NORTHSTAR
then repeatedly refused my requests to delay delivery to the destination
address. We needed additional time to
determine what to do with the left-behind property, and assess what legal
recourse was available in Las Vegas.
NORTHSTAR now had our property and hijacked the moving process. They refused our request to delay
delivery. Some days later, employee Adam
in dispatch told me, "We made the delivery in Eugene Oregon, you were not
there, therefore, an additional $2000.00 redelivery charged is now
assessed." This was after we spoke
directly to the driver, telling him we were not in Oregon, and to wait until he
heard from us we had arrived. [Storage
would have been cheaper for the customer than a redelivery charge].
NORTHSTAR
employee Adam Also informed us that the cost of the transportation would exceed
the initial quote by over 300%.
The initial
quote process was conducted only by phone, by employee Alice, who insisted
"all we need is the number of bedrooms to give you a quote." NORTHSTAR employees, who like Yaniv, are
Israeli citizens, with accents difficult to understand, made verbal
communications more difficult.
No prior
on-site assessment or walk through was made, by any NORTHSTAR representative,
of the contents to be moved. However, it's
now clear NORTHSTAR had in NEW PLANET a local Las Vegas sub-contractor capable
of an on-site inspection.
Two weeks
before the move, a Las Vegas "boutique mover? offered a dedicated single
truck, not a consolidation load. The
quote included loading and unloading and transport. They gave a quote LESS, than the amount
NORTHSTAR is now attempting to collect as ransom.
Additional
storage fees now exceed an additional $5000.
It should
be noted we were forced to "re-buy" essential living items after finally
reaching the destination. Bedding,
dishes, clothing, medical supplies, other items equally important, beyond our
financial reach.
Formal request for investigation was
made to the US Department of Transportation after we were told we were victims
of a "Rogue Hostage Mover." US
DOT informed us NORTHSTAR violated Federal regulations by insisting on
pre-delivery deposits, made clever use of forms and contract paperwork to
position themselves for a win-lose confrontation. USDOT has no authority to demand return of hostage
property; they can only fine NORTHSTAR et.al. DOT never informed us to what
extent if any an investigation was conducted, as of this date. Attorneys advised us the only success with
"Rouge Hostage Movers" is to quote "Pay the Ransom." The only legal venue is in Federal Court, a
two or more year proposition with attorney fees exceeding entire cost of
property lost. Which doesn?t include the
loss of irreplaceable personal belongings. Personal papers, financial and work
related. We no longer have any personal items of family history, nostalgia,
photographs of parents, siblings, friends, pets, birth and death certificates,
passports, tax returns, receipts, medical records, you know the rest. If you have any experience in these matters
that could assist us, please contact management at Angies List. Be advised, NORTHSTAR was chosen for an
aggregate good rating on Angies List. After
the robbery, a check of NEW PLANET on this list revealed a arating of
"F" with similar customer experiences. Clearly NORTHSTAR was aware of the status of
its subcontractor. Other member
customers experience with NEW PLANET led to the conclusion NEW PLANET had
conducted many similar operations. They
were fast, and well trained in the art of deception. They repeatedly conducted themselves in an
odd manner during the day, but not enough to assume the worst was taking
place.
A USDOT web site contains information on
how to avoid these companies. Had I
known it existed, I would?ve been clued in, from the first request for a
deposit, that something was wrong.
"We have been subject to your threats and harassment for the past year: A. You threatened us you would go to the police, which we welcome. We have done no wrong and want the police involvement and assistance with you. B. You complained about us to the Department of Transportation, which we responded to their satisfaction. C. You have harassed our team members. D. You have threatened to take us to court, which we welcome. We feel that we need the courts help in dealing with you. We are anxious to deliver your belongings to you as soon as possible. We cannot do so until you contact us to arrange for this delivery to take place and give us an address where you want your belongings delivered to. To this day, we have not been paid for your storage charges with our company and you have not returned our calls or responded to our letters. If you continue to ignore our communication, we will have no choice but to take action. If you wish, you are welcome to have your attorney contact us. Very Truly Yours, Wendy Paola Client Care Manager"

"Dear Angie’s List Member, I am glad I had the opportunity to speak with you. As a moving company, we always strive to provide our clients with the best moving experience possible. We move thousands of clients each year. Unfortunately, once in a while (very rarely) we drop the ball. We strongly believe a company’s character is determined by the actions in these situations. Therefore, we feel it is important to make things right. I am pleased to hear that, in the end, I resolved your issues to your satisfaction. I wish you all the best and we hope that in the future when you move, you will use us and experience how well we usually move our clients. Very Truly Yours, Wendy Paola"
"Dear Angie’s List Member, Thank you for taking the time to share your moving experience with us. I am glad the movers were able to be such help to you. The movers will be happy to hear your kind words. It’s very kind of you to buy the guys drinks and food. It’s not our intention to send our movers out at 5 pm but every now and then we have a commitment to a client. While they were working they were getting paid overtime and/or double time. We were awarded Best Places to Work by the Los Angeles Business Journal for a few years now and that is an award we truly value. We wouldn’t receive such an award, if we mistreated our workers. Our movers are well taken care of, but we do appreciate your concern. Again, thank you for choosing NorthStar Moving. We wish you all the best in your new home. Very truly yours, Wendy Paola"
"Dear Angie’s List Member, Thank you for taking the time to share your moving experience with us. We know how crucial organization and good communication can be during a move. It is not only important for open communication for our clients’ peace of mind, but also open communication is important within the company to ensure that a move goes as smoothly possible. We are thrilled that we were able to be of such help to you!! Wishing you the very best in your new home. Take care, Lauren Lustyan Client Loyalty Team www.NorthStarMoving.com"
"Dear Angie's List Member, I appreciate you taking the time to share your moving experience. As a moving company, we always strive to provide our clients with the best moving experience possible. The crew will be happy to hear that you felt they were hard-working. If you think we were being overly protective causing the move to not go as quickly as you preferred, we would have loved for you to communicate this with us during your move. In the future, you are welcome to direct your specific needs to the movers or call the office, so we can do what is right for you. It is important for all Angie’s List members to be mindful that moving companies will always assume you want your belongings to be protected. If your items don’t require as much protection because they are not that expensive, this needs to be communicated in order ensure that the movers are as timely as possible. We hope to continue to be your moving company of choice. Wishing you all the best, Lauren Lustyan Client Loyalty Team NorthStarMoving.com"

I have nothing but praise for these two individuals and the company they represent.
I highly recommend them for any long distance moving situation.
"Dear Angie’s List Member, Thank you for kind words! Our movers will love to hear that you were impressed with their professionalism and efficiency while moving you from North Carolina to Montana. We understand how valuable your belongings are, and always do our best to go the extra mile while moving them. Good luck in your new home. We wish you and your family all the best! Enjoy your day, Lauren Lustyan Client Loyalty Team [removed website]"
The only reason we're giving a couple of B's, is because we noticed some dings here and there on our custom wood furniture, and had a broken leg on our bedframe (which we had to get repaired.) However, that was it! Nothing else was damaged, and the service was very good. We assume that because NorthStar had to move our items around (due to consolidated shipping), the dings and breakage were probably inflicted when moving from one storage container to another -- we did not notice any dings or damage on the moving day, and had a really pleasant experience. The movers were quick, professional, kind, helpful, and worked very hard the whole time.
Also, Wendy at NorthStar was excellent in assisting us with the bed issue - she helped us get everything sorted out in a quick and timely manner.
"Dear Angie’s List Member, What an amazing moving experience! Thank you for sharing it with us! At NorthStar Moving, we are committed to provide our clients with the best service possible. We provide our clients with the best movers possible who are willing to go that extra mile you mentioned to assure a successful move. I wish you the best of luck in your new home! Good luck, Tahura Bibi Client Loyalty Team www.NorthStarMoving.com"
