Terrific - hard-working, courteous, friendly. Even offered suggestions of restaurants in our new area. A few scuffs on the walls, but the narrow stairwell was difficult for them to move the washer/dryer unit up the stairs - no complaints on that. And two small items broke in the move, but again, minimal and no complaints. Would definitely use again.

The move was great. Movers were very nice and punctual. The experience from beginning to end was pleasant. Here is the only issue with the move: I told them in advance that I would have the movers make an Ikea bed and table. The movers struggled so much with the bed, that the total price of the move went up by over $150. Since I had warned them about the furniture and they said they could do this, I was surprised that they struggled so much. Regardless of this issue, I would recommend these movers and go with them in the future. The rest of the experience, makes up for this.

This was the second time I used them. We had to move 2x within about a year so since my first experience was great, I decided to use them again. I had items in a storage facility as well as my apartment. Since I was moving into a brand new house, they sent 2 trucks to each location with a total of 5 workers. They are very thorough from the person answering phones to the movers to the follow through afterwards. The movers were very accommodating, courteous and especially careful. If I ever have to move again, this is the company I will call again and again.

They had 98% of our stuff out of the apartment in less than an hour (I have a lot of stuff!) They did absolutely no damage to the walls, carpet, doors, or anything in the house, it was amazing! When they moved everything into our new home, there was one little mishap with our computer desk. They spoke up about it immediately, showed me what happened, and apologized numerous times. I was so floored that they mentioned it, because every other experience I have had, they hide it. I have no emotional attachment to the desk so I didn't file a claim nor did I care much. Instead I made a deal with them that they had to take this awful poster I got at a white elephant party last Christmas :) For our office move, they had a truck break down, so they sent another one and got the job done as quickly as possible. Overall it was a great experience. I will most definitely use them if I ever move again!

We purchased the big deal coupon for this service and it turned out great. They did a great job. We think their pricing was fair. We had priced a few of them and they were comparable. They did a good job and so we were happy with that. We had no complaints.

Service was excellent! We were quoted $950 and price came in $200 less. Driver's were courteous, professional, and prompt.

It was pretty good. I paid about $100. They seem to be pretty professional, they came on time and they did the work pretty quickly.

UPDATE: This review was originally written by an Angie's List representative after a phone conversation and scored a C because it was averaged between NorthStar and the subcontractor. I am updating this to reflect NorthStar's rightful rating. Because we moved across the country, NorthStar had to contract out. The subcontractor was late, not careful, unprofessional, and just a disaster. The first part of the move was exactly the opposite. NorthStar employees are extremely helpful, professional, careful, responsive. After I contacted NorthStar about the experience with the subcontractor, they took every step to rectify the situation and are no longer using that company. They took responsibility and did not blame the other company. How a company handles this type of a situation defines how they are as a company. I would absolute recommend NorthStar to anyone who is moving. I was extremely happy with their initial service and even more so how they responded to my concerns. They came and picked up the stuff originally and they were excellent. They were responsive. They did a full inventory and came to our place to do that. We really like NorthStar. On this end though they contracted somebody out to have it delivered and we were not happy with who they contracted out to.

A day before the scheduled move NorthStar located on Flower Street called to remind us of the appointment, unfortunately we needed to reschedule because we were not ready. The gal happily, and without attitude, rescheduled our appointment. She again, called before the rescheduled appointment to remind us. The movers called while on route, and showed up, at our door, at the exact scheduled time. The movers, though young, were very professional and worked very quickly. They promptly moved the pre-packed boxes into the van, then carefully began to encase all the furniture in either blankets or plastic wrap. At the new home, the movers swiftly unloaded the van and placed all furniture and boxes in the designated rooms. They unwrapped all furniture items and even took care to center the large pieces in the room. It is important to point out that they used extra care to clear the walls and doors when moving the large pieces through the narrow hallway, and all the furniture and boxes were placed safely away from the walls, so to avoid damage. We have beautiful antique mahogany wood furniture and, we are very happy to say, nothing was damaged in the process! There was a minor mishap, but before we could discover the issue on our own, the lead mover openly explained the mishap and suggested that we call his supervisor. The issue was so minor, no action was taken. It is important to note, that the fee quoted was the fee charged. No hidden costs. If we were to ever move again we would clearly choose NorthStar (on Flower Street).

It went smoothly. I wasn't there. I had the gentleman receiving the piano meet the guys at the house and direct them to his. He said it went well.

Estimator (Gadi) came out to inventory all of the household furniture and goods. We received not-to-exceed estimates for two different potential move dates. The move involved a crew of four people the first day that came out and disassembled everything that needed to be disassembled, they wrapped everything in heavy duty towels and then thoroughly wrapped everything in plastic. Everything was moved downstairs in preparation for the move the next day. Everything was labeled as to which room the items were going to be placed in our new home. The next day a crew of seven and two trucks showed up on time and the move took place. All furniture and boxes were placed in the correct rooms upon arrival and furniture was setup. The movers were very professional and work only for Northstar. Recommend them highly. They are the Cadillac of moving companes and priced competitively. Only 1 delicate item broke during the move and it was because I wrapped in poorly before boxing it - everything else was completely undamaged.

Our experience with them went well. They did a great job. We were very happy with the services they provided, and everything arrived undamaged. They did a great job packing things. They showed up on a holiday. There was a parade in town. They managed to get around the parade and get there on time. They worked all day. It was literally an all day move. They came in the morning, and we did not finish until after dark. Everybody was very courteous and respectful of our house, our belongings, and us. I would recommend them to anybody else who is considering using them. I think the price was more than what I expected, but they give you the initial contract then they do some extra pricing according to how many things they have to wrap their plastic around stuffs. I think any other company may have done the same thing.

See above. What NorthStar did was to provide moving services from Long Beach CA to Oklahoma City OK. They provided a person to analyze my move and storage until I called for shipment.

-Move went fine; movers were punctual and efficient, in addition to pleasant. The estimator was an hour late for the appointment. Wound up moving again 9 months later, estimator was 1 1/2 hours late and had to reschedule, late for that as well and gave incomplete bid requiring follow-up on their part (only received a casual call). Conclusion: movers are good, the dispatcher over-schedules the estimator egregiously (two other referrals had the exact same experience) Update: While I'm not changing my critique of the estimator being for late or rescheduled appointments, on the incomplete bid/follow-up issues, in fairness, as this was a complicated interstate move involving dual loads going into and out of short-term local storage, the estimator may reasonably have been awaiting further information and directions from me (never given) that precluded a completed bid submission. I would request another RFQ on a future move but would lock down either an early AM, first call or late PM last call estimator appointment.

Moving out for renovation is never a pleasant experience. That said, North Star Moving Corp made every effort to make it as easy as possible. Jesus, Christian and Jose were so courteous. They were very careful and yet worked quickly. The total came under the quoted price by $150. When our furniture was returned, Tony, Christian and Julio were just as courteous and hard working as the team that came to remove it. The total again, came under the quoted price. I'm amazed how fast both teams were. They were all so considerate, and so hard working...they never took a break, and I live in a two story home! Would I recommend this company? ABSOLUTELY!

Everything went perfectly, except for two issues: The company was able to send only two movers, instead of the usual three, on moving day, so the loading process took several extra hours. I was having severe back pain, which was exacerbated by standing and walking. Otherwise, the delay wouldn't have been a major inconvenience. My shipment arrived a couple of days later than estimated, but I'd planned for that eventuality. When the truck neared my new city, I was contacted. I offered directions, but the driver wanted to rely upon GPS. Mistake! The crew got lost in a subdivision several miles from home, on the other side of town! However, once the truck arrived, the crew was efficient, friendly, helpful, and professional. I couldn't have asked for more. I thought the price was reasonable. It turned out that the size of the load was UNDERestimated, even though I offered to show the estimator the contents of my closets and cabinets. Nevertheless, no additional charges were added. Overall, I highly recommend this company, and the two minor issues cited above were undoubtedly the exception, rather than the rule. I do not blame Northstar for being one employee short that day. Northstar's services overall are impressive, efficient, friendly, professional, and fairly priced. I would never dream of recommending any other moving company to my friends.

North Star moving may be the finest movers in the world, but I will never find out. Their estimate, including full insurance, was more than double of what I paid with another moving company (which also include full insurance). Most interstate movers will base their price on their estimate of the weight of the load, and then adjust the price based on the actual weight. North Star does not. They give you their estimated weight (mine was 12,545 lbs) and then their final price based on that estimated weight. That's it. If the actual weight comes in lower there is no reduction in your cost. Northstar's estimated weight was 3000 lbs over the estimated weight of the moving company that I used. The actual weight of my load was 1000 lbs less then the estimate (it was approx 8500) and I received a corresponding adjustment on my final price. The moving company I used did a terrific job and I cannot imagine another company doing any better. Based on my experience, I would not consider North Star in any future moves. Update 11-14-2013 - I received a phone call last week from Wendy, Northstar's Client care senior operations manager. She expressed her concerns about my customer experience and asked for my feedback on how they could have done a better job. She made me aware of the various rate plans that they have and that there was obviously some miscommunication when I originally met with their estimator. I felt that Wendy was sincere and genuinely wanted to make sure that my experience isn't repeated with other customers. After our discussion I do feel better about Northstar and would call them for an estimate were I to move again. I am changing the Price rating to N/A as I was unaware at the time of the other rate plans and would have to give them another chance to quote me. However, I would still seek competitive quotes from other moving companies.

I used Northstar for my move from Seattle area to Las Vegas because a) they had good reviews on Angie's List, and b) their prices were competitive with other movers I got bids from. The driver and van were Northstar's and they hire local packers and loaders at each end that work under the driver's supervision. The driver, Evan, called me a couple days ahead to confirm the scheduled pickup and also volunteered that he could do the loading a day early if I was ready - which I was. I had prepacked everything except the furniture, so that eliminated any concerns about packing dishes and other fragile items. Evan arrived on time with a father & son team hired locally who regularly worked for a local mover. This team was excellent. It became obvious very quickly that both Evan and the local guys really knew what they were doing. They quickly and thoroughly wrapped all the furniture, disassembling tables, etc. as necessary and loaded the van, tagging and inventorying as they went. They were pleasant, careful and just very professional - but didn't waste any time. At the arrival end, Evan again called and arrived a day early. This time he only had one helper. This younger guy wasn't as physically strong or experienced as the Seattle team, and I gathered that Northstar did the hiring, not the driver, and Evan didn't know him before they arrived to unload, hadn't used him before, and would have preferred to have someone a little stronger. Nevertheless, the unloading was accomplished without any casualties. I am very satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to use Northstar again - especially if I could get Evan as the driver. He is a real asset to Northstar.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and I think it worked out pretty good. It was not seamless, but it worked out pretty well. I did not expect it to work perfectly because it seemed like the type of process where it seemed like there were a lot of different companies involved so there were going to be communication problems. I thought NorthStar did a good job of trying to coordinate everything and the furniture was shipped well within the delivery window, which was good. It actually came too soon. NorthStar hired a subcontractor to do the actual delivery and there was some loss of communication about what needed to happen on this end. The guy arrived and I was told repeatedly I could use a credit card, but I was told I could not. They wanted a certified check or something like that, but he ended up accepting a credit card in the end. So, it was little things like that, communication problems, but nothing that could not be resolved the way they were supposed to. It was not 100-percent smooth, but everything worked out in the end satisfactorily. The price was less than I calculated what it was going to be. They did not pack boxes, but they did pack furniture and did a good job at that.

Northstar Movers have excellent customer service - you had one contact to reach out to for any questions about your move ahead of your move date, they called ahead of time to confirm the move and 30 minutes ahead of their arrival. However when it came to the actual move things could have been a lot better. We were remodeling our new home and didn't have the time before our move to do a lot of packing so Northstar took care of it - for 5 full hours. When we moved from Singapore to the Bay Area six years ago we had 3 movers who were done in 3 hours. I will know better next time. As we're unpacking at the moment I'm discovering the strange logic with which our items were packed and am starting to understand why the packing took so long. Items that were stored and packed away in bags or drawers were individually removed and re-packed (in tons of packing paper) into boxes. If that isn't inefficient (and wasteful) I don't know what is. When it came to the actual move their attention to detail could have been a lot better. So far they have: broken the light fixture outside the apartment we were renting, scratched our newly refinished floor, dented our newly painted walls in at least 3 places and broken a champagne glass that was hastily stuffed into a canvas bag with no protection whatsoever. My tip for future customers: if you want to hire Northstar, be prepared to do all your packing yourself and keep a close eye on moving day. Attention to detail and protecting your walls and floors do not seem to be their strong suit.

The three guys couldn't have been nicer. They were quite punctual, communicative, thorough and extremely careful with my belongings. If cost is no object, these are great movers. UPDATE: I was very impressed. Northstar contacted me about the cost issues, we discussed why I thought it was a bit high, and they made some reasonable adjustments. I appreciate that they listened to my concerns, and resolved them fairly.

I'm very impressed by NorthStar. This is the second time I've used them, and very solid experiences both times. The first move was almost 8 years ago and they were as good if not better than what I remembered. My team of three movers was on time. They moved swiftly and with care. They also were extremely polite and personable young men -- an added bonus. A week later, my fiance was moving but we called NorthStar too late for them to fit us in for a move on a weekend day. We used a different company and it was such a different experience. While those men also were professional and got the job done, their pace was significantly slower. Thus, NorthStar also proved to be a good move economically. I'm a pretty fussy consumer, and these folks really proved themselves worthy of a strong review.

It was a mixed bag: the estimate and the loading were outstanding; the reloading and unloading were so so. I haven't made any damage claims yet so I don't know how that will be handled. The estimator was very efficient and timely. I was impressed. The crew that picked up my stuff wrapped everything so carefully that a bomb could have gone off and not damaged my stuff -- or so I thought. They were fast efficient and polite. I did my own packing and it did not turn out to be a great idea. Many items were broken or damaged. Small stuff but it was evident that the stuff was handled pretty roughly in the unloading and reloading. The delivery was very timely. The goods arrived nine days after loading. I did not receive any updates while the goods were in transit (as promised). The driver was polite and professional. His hired helpers worked very hard. I gave them a B because so many small things were damaged (broken glass, broken bookcase, broken lamp, crushed lamp shade.)
