It was done professionally and with care. They were very careful with my stuff and packed the stuff that was left.

This move was without fault. The guys were fast, efficient and courteous at all times. Everything went so well and we were all moved in within 5 1/2 hours including 45 minutes travel time from one location to the other. I would recommend Tim and his crew to anyone! My husband and I were really happy with the service.

Packers and movers worked hard both days. They were efficient and careful. Our belongings arrived in LA in great condition. They were on time, careful and did a great job.

Northstar arrived at my at my apartment on time and ready to work. I was moving one bedroom, kitchen items and living room. I hadn't finished packing everything yet so the guys got started on boxes that were done. They were very courtious and helped me box the rest of my things. The guys were fast and efficient too!There were a couple minor nicks on some of my belongings but that's to be expected on any move. These guys were good.A little pricier than I expected but I'd hire them again. (unless I found a muuuuch less expensive option.)

After reading many reviews, I bought a coupon for ?$50 for $150 worth of moving services? from NorthStar Moving. Stefy called me the next day and reviewed all of the rates, regulations, and extra costs that could possibly be incurred. She set me up with an appointment for the day and time I needed with no issues. The day of the move the guys arrived right at 8am. They were very polite, and reviewed all the details of the agreement with me again before they started. The crew of 3 was super-fast and efficient, while at the same time very careful. They moved all of the furniture, boxes, and appliances (washer/dryer, refrigerator) from my 2/2.5 townhouse to my new home (1 mile away). This included disassembling and reassembling furniture, and moving several large, heavy items (washer/dryer, solid-wood desk) from upstairs. All of this was done in 4 hours; without a single scratch, dent, or broken item! After the move Stefy followed-up to make sure that everything went well. I would recommend NorthStar Moving to anyone who asks; they made the moving process as easy and stress-fee as possible.

Superior service from the phone call to investigate. Very careful wrapping furniture. Punctual and guys were very pleasant. Extra TLC from Alex my moving agent. A very professional guy and good person. I strongly recommend this company for local moves.

Good team of 3 men that worked very hard. They were careful overall but small damage a working table due to transportation but they were really apologetic and gave a small compensation fee which i am fine. Overall, the guys were very careful, professional and hard working.

They were fantastic. They called to confirm our appointment days before. They called a day ahead and called when they were on their way. They brought plenty of extra boxes, tape and plastic wrap to secure our furniture and reinforce our packed boxes. They also packed some difficult last items like lamps and dog gates etc. They were very professional, very polite and the entire team could not have been nicer. Or more careful and considerate. They were very skillful and quick in packing our things and fitting everything securely onto our truck. We made the 2500 mile trip without damage.

We were the first customers of the day when the Northstar guys arrived. The guys were nice and personable, and they got off to a very good start, and had all our many boxes in the truck within 35 minutes. When they got to the furniture, I took off for our new place. There were a couple hitches, but all our stuff is in the same condition it started off in, and the guys took the time to wrap corners and wood furniture so it wouldn't be damaged in the move. They made sure to move each box or piece of furniture into the room it was supposed to go in so we wouldn't have to move it again. I want to give a big thumbs-up to the customer service reps at Northstar Moving. They were amazing, and Wendy in particular helped us resolve some minor issues, and she did a follow-up with us about our move a month later. And she and the others at Northstar treated us like people rather than just clients, if you see what I mean. I really appreciate that. Overall I feel that they're a good company to deal with.

Estimator was nice and friendly. However, quote was 50% higher than my last move.

They were on time, efficient, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They took the right route between the shop and the house. I would definitely use them again. Very impressed!

It turned out very well. They were very communicative. They were on time for every time that we have had an appointment. The movers worked quickly and efficiently but they were very careful. The final cost for the work came in under on time and under on cost than what they had estimated. This is the second time we've used them to move and we would definitely use them again.

Great job all around. We were provided a 2-hour window in which the movers would arrive, and they arrived 30 minutes into the window. Loading the contents of our two-story 3BR house took about two hours and fifteen minutes. Unloading took about three hours. They were professional, efficient, and friendly, and they didn't damage our stuff. They put things in the right rooms, and once we had everything where we had asked them to put it, they asked if we wanted anything shifted to a different location within the house. They provided warderobe boxes -- the only quibble is that we weren't in the room to direct which box of clothes went where, so our clothes are all disorganized at this point, but this is a minor point. The only supplies they charged us for were the roll of shrink wrap used to protect our furniture and rolls of packing tape.

The pickup in California was great. They were on time, the guys were lovely, and they hustled. It was on the New York side that service dropped off. Once I had a new address, the items were shipped. On plus side, it only took 4-5 days for my belongings to arrive in New York. On the downside, they gave me almost no notice. They were supposed to get in touch with updates on timing but didn't follow their own protocol. The last update I got estimated the arrival for 4-5 days from then. Then I got an urgent phone call saying they were arriving the following day. I had to drop everything to be there and would have appreciated more notice. Again, the guys that delivered were nice. On the downside, the scuffed up the walls throughout my apartment building. Everything was intact in my boxes, so that was awesome. However, and this can't be verified, I believe that cockroaches might have gotten into my boxes in the storage facility or en route. As I unloaded my belongings, 4 cockroaches emerged in my apartment. I have a very dependable and trustworthy landlord who said the building never had them before. Again, it is of course possible that were indeed in my building, so please definitely refer to this note cautiously. Update - 11/10/13 - I do want to let Angie's List users know that after posting my review, a quite lovely women from North Star got in touch with me to discuss my review and apologize for the quality of service I described. She did inform me that if I had called their central office about the scuffs in my hallway they would surely have sent someone to clean up the walls. I wish I had realized that (instead of spending time cleaning them up myself). One thing I forgot to point out in my review was that the guys moved me in on the hottest day in the summer and that I didn't have A/C yet. They were troopers! In sum, I really appreciated her call and was left feeling much more positively about the company and their professionalism. I do feel that I would recommend them in the future and changed my overall rating to a B.

The team of three movers arrived early and were ready to start as soon as we reviewed / signed the paperwork. The townhouse we moved out of had 3 flights of stairs to the top floor, so the team had to do quite a bit of stair climbing. No complaints and it didn't seem to slow them down a great deal. No damage to the hardwood floors or walls while moving. The move took about 2 hours longer than the estimate we received over the phone. This could be a result of the stairs at our townhouse, or it could be that the movers gave a slightly low estimate. Other movers were contacted gave similar estimates in terms of the number of hours as well as the recommended number of movers, so we were not concerned. The cost ended up being higher than expected as a result, but not out of line. The foreman for our move was very young, about 20 years old. English was his first language, so there was no trouble communicating at all. He kept things well organized with the other two movers. I think the foreman could have worked a bit harder / faster throughout the move, but the other two movers were working constantly. We might have saved 30 minutes with more dedicated effort. The nicer furniture was wrapped carefully before being moved into the truck. There was minor damage to one piece that was not wrapped, but everything else arrived with no problems. My only complaint is that the moving company has been unresponsive to my request to have the damage evaluated / compensated. I called and was told that the Damage Department would contact me, but they never did. This would be a much bigger concern if we had more damage.

They arrived earlier then the estimated time and took very good care of our prepackaged boxes. I was resistant to hire a moving company because the horror stories of friends but the 4 man crew were very professional and didn't damage or lose any of our items and they finished everything within the 4 hour window we payed for. They honored my coupon and there was a discount for paying in cash. I feel I got more than my monies worth on this deal.

Gil from Northstar arrived as scheduled, to provide me with an estimate to move my family from our Hollywood apartment, to our home in Woodland Hills. His estimate was the lowest of the three bids which I received, and was a "Not to Exceed" price! Decided to go with Northstar based on reviews and their pricing. Northstar Moving told me that their men would be at our apartment, the day of the move, between 8am-10am. They arrived around 8:30am, and started work immediately. The men were presentable, and very friendly and eager to be helpful! They assisted us in moving some items to the storage room in the garage of the building where we were moving out of (we're keeping some items there for a short time), assisted in dismantling beds we weren't moving, but wanted to store, etc. etc. They worked quickly and efficiently. The job went slightly longer then they had planned ,but they offered to work through lunch, so we ordered pizzas and sodas for the guys, and they grabbed a quick bite and kept on working! Furniture and fragile items were padded and/or wrapped, and handled with great care! They completed the job at around 5:30pm, and the final price came in about $50 below their original estimate (we didn't need any boxes that they had included in their original estimate. Moving is stressful, but having a professional group of guys who care about their work performing the move for you makes it substantially less stressful! I'd highly recommend Northstar to any friends or family planning a move in the future! These guys were GREAT!

Crew showed up on time and performed in a professional manner. I was very impressed by the professionalism of the foreman and the work ethic of the crew. The move could have not been completed sooner or better!

All went well with the move and I was so happy with the service from start to end. The guys showed up on time and explained how they would start to move items out of the house. They also worked with me as I finished packing the last of our items. The guys worked as a team and with us. They were very professional and put us a ease. I would definitely use them again; however, I hope I never need to move again :)

North Star moving was very professional, on time and non of our items were damaged or ruined. They were super fast as well. My boyfriend was skeptical about hiring movers, but he was very pleased with the guys and how fast and helpful they were. They came to our house on time and took about 3.5 hours total to move all of our stuff.

It went great and it was a good experience. The big deal saved me $100. I would use them again.

The representative who answered the phone was very professional and knowledgeable about their business. They would require sending out a truck, charging too much for what I was willing to spend. They kindly refunded me the amount of the deal.

They were on time and friendly. Most of our stuff was already packed, so they were just hauling things to the truck. Everything went smoothly. There was an issue with some tape that they used on some IKEA storage boxes. It ripped the coating of the boxes, honestly, we didn't think much of it and didn't make a fuss. But I was contacted by someone from Northstar asking how the move went and I brought the issue up. They ended up refunding me an amount more than the cost of replacing the boxes. I would have used them again anyway, but knowing that they have that type of customer service makes me like them even more.

There was definitely some logistical confusion between the office building, the mover and perhaps my office assistant regarding when they could pick up the furniture from the office building. It seemed to me that Northstar was not communicating very well, but they may not have been solely responsible for the confusion. As a result there were delays and an extra trip by Northstar. When they arrived at my house, they said they could not bring one of the pieces up our stairs because they didn't have the right crew or equipment. They had not asked me in advance about stairs at my house, although in retrospect that is a common question. So further delays and multiple trips resulted from this. Then they charged me extra for the stairs, which would have been more understandable if they had dealt with this issue in advance instead of after I was fully committed to them. In the end they offered a discount to make up for everything even as they were saying they didn't think their service had been a problem. I think they acted in good faith but there were hiccups.
