Beginning with Alma on the phone, Northstar is a group of consummate pro's. As a repeat customer (which I hope not to "repeat" again anytime soon - exhausting!), I received a discounted rate, so along with the Angie's Deal I purchased, it was quite competitive. On moving day, Mark and his crew could not have been more hard-working and diligent. We left a 3-story townhome and it was not easy moving some of the heavier bedroom pieces out - but they were extremely careful. Mark even went above and beyond when setting up one of the beds at the new house so that it accommodated a new frame. Very resourceful guy, and we appreciated all of their smarts and muscle! It's nice to put yourself in their hands on a stressful day, and know everything will be handled with care.

The movers arrived on time. They explained the details of the move and the pricing structure in advance. They were fast, efficient and professional. They even correctly re-assembled a bed that had been improperly assembled during my last move. I have no complaints at all and would use this company again.

They had quoted me $140 for 3 men for an hour over the phone. They brought the truck and told me that he would have to give me a bid right there. They quoted me $2000.00. That would be two days work and could not possibly be correct. They started to load the truck and I told them I wanted to top it off at $1000 and they then took my belongings off their truck and left. I did speak with a supervisor and he didn?t change the price either. The company's customer service representative did contact me by telephone a few days later. She apologized for what happened, but by that time, I had hired a U-Haul and 3 men and completed the job. I am disabled and to be left in the lurch surrounded by boxes on the day of my move was a great inconvenience. The company offered me something for my inconvenience which I thought was professional of them. If I had been able to get past the "supervisor" that morning, we probably would have resolved it, since the customer service representative was very reasonable. My advice: Get it in writing all beforehand! Another update! The company has decided not to compensate me for any inconvenience.....not professional after all.

Cesar H, Luis R, Marcos S and Joseph M. were great. The move did not go perfectly (not move ever does) but they handled every little bump professionally. These guys worked so hard and got the move done quicker than the estimated number of hours. They were the best.

It was great and costed less than the quote.

Four men worked quickly, professionally, carefully and considerately. Made at least 10 prior moves with other companies. This one was the absolute best!

Overall a good experience. Pros: the actual movers were great. Luis, Vinnie, and Andrew were punctual, polite, professional, and respectful. My things were delivered within the delivery window, and I received plenty of emails from Cesar as well as phone calls from Randy well in advance. Everything made it there safely and in one piece, and for a reasonable price. Cons: the pickup and delivery days require 6 hour windows, which makes scheduling difficult (ie I had to take full days off work). My pre-move estimate also had several typos (wrong inventory list, wrong pick up date, wrong delivery window), which was nerve-wracking. Fortunately, the movers give paperwork on the day of the move which corrected everything.

We had a great experience. We really liked how they give a will not exceed quote so you know what your maximum cost will be. They worked hard and were very efficient. We would use them again in the future.

Very professional, very talented moving team. They knew how to unload the truck quickly, place items where we wanted them and ensure our items were not damaged.

It went well, except that they damaged a solid wooden shelf that fits into an armoire. I have emailed them the problem, but so far they have not repsonded to me.

Since this was going to be the biggest move that we've ever done and I didn't want any surprises on moving day, I requested a "not to exceed" price quote from three different moving companies (all from Angie's List). They were all courteous when I met with them and the pricing was very similar, but Ilan (Northstar's estimator) just gave me a good feeling that everything was going to go smoothly. He was very professional and knowledgeable - he's the reason I went with Northstar and I'm really happy we did. Moving day went as planned and we had a GREAT team - Luis R., Henry R., Ivan A. and Erwin R. Thank you Northstar for making a really stressful time that much easier!

My fiancé and I sold our homes very quickly - to the first persons who saw them, in fact, so we haven't had time to purchase a new home. Both moves were complicated logistically, with most items from each home going to a storage unit and some going to our apartment. Our crews were careful to keep everything straight, handling our items carefully, quickly and with good humor throughout the day. We loved our first crew of Gorge, Antonio and Alex so much that we requested the same crew for today's move. It turned out that Alex was not available today, but the team of Gorge, Antonio and Carlos did an equally terrific job. From our first telephone contacts with the office staff to signing off on the delivery documents at the conclusion of the move, NorthStar was the best moving company that either of us had ever dealt with. Thank you, Angie's List, for helping us find them!

We have to move out of our home for awhile as result of water damage to our walls and floors. I had three different companies come out and give bids for their moving services. The estimator, Ron, just gave me confidence with his assuredness of how to handle some of the tricky details of out move-out/move back in scenario. I will write a follow up after the actual move takes place, but just wanted to give props to NorthStar for their professionalism so far.

went well. No problems. Sofa large for size of small condo. Very difficult to move into unit but guys were very patient and worked well together to figure out how to make it fit. Ruben B. Luis R. And William L were great. they reminded us of Angie's list coupon and waited until we purchased it online in spite of slow internet. This saved us $100.00.

Alma was friendly, gracious, and professional! The movers were great as well (Jesse R, Miguel, and Ruben) - very efficient and treated our belongings with care. Overall wonderful job!

very well and very smoothly. the guys that moved us were professional and fearless in driving through the hills of hollywood when other companies said they could not get their trucks up to my new home without another big charge. this is an honest company with honest hard working guys doing the moving.

Northstar's crew was fantastic. Very thorough and respective of our belongings. We had never hired movers to actually do our packing before and it was a fantastic idea and service. Only issue is trying to figure out what was in each box since we didn't actually pack anything but thats nobody's fault but my own.

It went smoothly. They had broken off some knobs from the washer but pointed that out and we are going through the claims process. They were efficient and fast, we would use their services again.

Moving is so stressful, but Northstar's excellent service made it. Alma especially was very helpful and reassuring through the entire process.

This is a excellent company to deal with. Their excellent reviews are what got my attention first. From the moment I called, I was very well taken care of. All my questions were answered. It was a real pleasure to deal with NorthStar. Superior customer service. Was very pleased in every aspect of this transaction. Will definitely recommend this company to any one considering a move. It went great. The workers were polite, friendly and on time. They worked efficiently and didn't waste any time which is great when you're paying a per hour fee.

They showed up on time and were very organized and efficient. Getting to work right away and asking the right questions as they went along. The move took 6 hours in total with 5 men helping. Everyone was super accommodating, professional and cordial. Every request was accepted with a smile and assurance that it was no problem. After having had a bad experience with another moving company, NorthStar was a breath of fresh air. We liked them so much that we are using them again to help with another move while we renovate our existing home.

I am really pleased with the outcome of this job. We moved our home of the last 15+ years to a new place several blocks away. I called Northstar 3 weeks prior to our target move date. They sent an estimator, Ron the next day. He was on time and went through our home with us to do an estimate. At that point we had not done much packing. We have a lot of interests and hobbies--so after 15 years, we've accumulated a lot of "stuff". On top of that we also had a large fridge, washer and dryer and a fair amount of furniture. Our plan was to purge what we could and pack and move the rest. After we finished at that house. We drove over to the new place so he could see what the delivery end would be like. The old house was on one floor with easy access to the street. The new house is 2 floors with a steep down-sloping driveway and no parking on the street. Ron's "not to exceed" estimate was that it would take a crew of 5 10.5 hours. Also that they would need 2 trucks. A big one that would be unloaded on the street (because it wouldn't be able to handle the angle of the drive) and a smaller one to carry the appliances down the drive to the rear entrance. The "not to exceed" estimate was $2,450. We were a bit surprised by that--but confirmed with him that since this was a local move-- the rate was entirely based on an hourly rate (with a 3 hour minimum). If we could get it done quicker, the price would be reduced. We set the date and time--and went to work purging and packing. By moving day we had packed and organized everything that was going to move (it was a lot stuff). The movers called the day before to confirm and showed up exactly on time. The crew, lead by Eduardo, were pleasant and professional. They worked quickly but took the time necessary to treat each item carefully. It took about 3 hours (with no breaks)to get the trucks loaded. The big truck was completely packed (no room to spare) the smaller truck was more than half full. We took a lunch break and met at the new house. They had a different strategy than Ron for unloading. Rather than unload the big truck on the street and wheel items down the long driveway. They managed to skillfully back the large truck partially down the driveway. This got it off the street and reduced the carrying distance from truck to final location. Here again the team worked quickly and professionally - they worked until both trucks were empty (no breaks). It was very hot-and and unlike the old place- much of the furniture and heavy boxes needed to be carried up to a second floor. It took about 3 hours to finish the job. The crew were cheerful while they worked--and they took great care with our stuff. (They even complimented us on how well we had packed and prepped for them.) All in all a great experience. Nothing was damaged. In the end the total was based on 6 hours and the fee was about $1600. Very reasonable for the job. I recommend them highly. Thank you Northstar!
