Description of Work: Another semi-annual maintenance check that went as smoothly as all previous visits from David, my preferred McCullough tech. He's always pleasant and thorough, taking the time to explain what he's done and what all my options are in ways I can easily understand. I'm satisfied with McCullough enough to gladly sign up for another year of their service plan. Great folks and great service at a reasonable price.

Description of Work: My heater wasn't working, so I called McCullough. They sent out their newest repair personnel. He believed the problem was a faulty breaker on the unit. Said he didn't have one with him and that they would order the part. I didn't hear back, so I called and was told the person to order the part was out of town. Weeks passed and I called again. No one called me back. Another week passed and I called again to be told they don't actually do those kinds of repairs. In the meantime, a month had passed and now my heating bill was almost $1,000! After more complaining, McCullough sent another repair person to the house who discovered it was not a breaker, but that the outside intake wasn't working. Their initial repair person had left my heater on emergency heat, which caused the expensive bill. A $35 part fixed the problem. But I ended up spending over $1,000 on something that should have been simple to diagnose. Very disappointed. Won't use them again.

Description of Work: Removed HVAC, cut a new piece of plywood to replace the base (which was water damaged). Had to cut holes for the hoses. Put HVAC back together.

Description of Work: I called this company over a week before I wanted them to come in to do an estimate on work in my new house. This timing was crucial as it had to be done within a window around other work. I scheduled this appointment as one of three HVAC visits to receive an estimate on work that was recommended by our home inspector. I expected to meet with someone who would be qualified to provide an estimate on all the work recommended. The man who came in was very nice and friendly (Derek). To my huge disappointment, all he seemed to be interested was making proposals for making my home more efficient. While I was not opposed to the idea of considering it, what I really needed was to have him give me an estimate on the items from the inspector. He was unable to do that!!!!! He said that I would have to make a service call to have someone come in to check out my HVAC system. He did give me an estimate on sealing the ducts which was also on my list, but he said that he was not able to see the ducting. How is that possible???? This was a very pleasant man, but it seemed to me that the company took advantage of my calling to send in a salesman rather than providing the service that I took the time to schedule way ahead of time. This was a waste of my time, but more important, it reduced my number of estimates by one, and I had to scramble to get another HVAC guy in with very little notice. Derek was very quick to send me an estimate for the various options that would make our system more efficient. Again, this was not the reason I had scheduled this appointment, but I was open to it. When I asked him how much certain jobs would be (that did not involve the actual HVAC unit, bc he was not qualified to check that), he said that he would throw that in for free with the options. Basically, he disregarded my need for an estimate on the work that I wanted to get done, and pushed his agenda with options I was only remotely interested in considering.

Description of Work: McCullough totally replaced our HVAC system and added two very high efficiency air filters. The job involved replacing two very old heat pumps with new high efficient systems to include new thermostats. We could not be happier, all installed equipment is performing well beyond our expectations. The installation was performed by very professional individuals who were punctual and professional. Great job!

Description of Work: Had an old house fan that I wanted taken out, but they said they don't perform those kinds of services. However, a few years ago, they did fix my heat (blower motor had burned out), and they were very nice and quite reasonable in price.

Description of Work: Angel, the technician, replaced the capacitor that leads to the heater's motor. Once he did that our central heater started working. Good job, Angel!

Description of Work: Our central AC unit was freezing up in the 105+ Texas summer. I called McCullough because of their posted ratings and comments from others in this forum. The company set up a service call the next day, and was there on time. The technician came out and performed a full detailed inspection and teting, diagnosed the problem and made the repairs methodically and professionally. He was honest stating that our unit was very old (22 years), but the compresor pressures were good for now and he thought it may have a few good years left. Very professional and less expensive than I had feared. The unit has worked well ever since. It is indeed quite old and I know it will need either additional service or even replacement eventually. In either event McCullough will be my first choice to do the job.
