McCullough Heating & Air Conditioning

Buyer beware. I went with McCullough because they were local and their ads and personnel sold me. Paid 15k for a new system and these hacks couldn’t even install it correctly (see photo), they choked the system and won’t bother fixing it. They also broke my faucet and I had to pay for a plumber to fix. I can’t get my house to 72 degrees and after a year I can’t get them to come out for the one year maintenance that’s included with a new install. Once they have your money they cut and run. I suggest going elsewhere.

I had a great experience in 2014 and decided to trust them again when I moved back to Austin now. Just spent a good amount of money with them, but the main problem is not solved. My home can only reach 67F by 5AM. The Condenser is brand new, so I imagine the airhandler was the issue, so I asked McCullough for help to solve the problem. Since they are the specialist, my expectation was to do a full analysis of the problem, however, they took the easiest path and just replaced the unit. After I realized the problem was not solved, I called them several times to come back, here their conclusion. 1. Ductwork is badly designed and might have leakage. 2. Charge more $450 to do a J Manual Calculation, to them sell me a new unit if needed. 3. Austin is too hot, and the unit is performing well. However. 1. Leakage test was done and later I found out a big opening closer to the airhandler installed by them. They came to fix it, but they still use the leakage as an excuse. 2. Other companies who want to sell the equipment are ready to do the calculation without extra charge. It seems McCullough is taking every opportunity to profit. 3. The installation was a mess, the McCullough Installer Mgr. took a lot of trash left by the installer when he came to inspect the equipment. 4. How we can have airports and malls in Texas with freezing temperatures during the summer? 5. They tried to blame me saying that I pointed to the problem when I called them. (I am sorry, but I am not an HVAC specialist) It has passed 2 weeks since the last visit from the installation mgr and no report or suggestion of fix was provided yet. Paying more doesn't mean quality delivery or customer satisfaction. I give up to work with them. I hope this post helps other people. Good look to everyone else.

Everything about my experience with McCullough was good. The people in the office were friendly and helpful; Troy, who came to give me a quote, was low pressure and very informative; and the installers were nice, respectful of my home, and as efficient as they could be. Just as they were about to leave, one of them thought that there was a noise in the condenser that wasn't right, so they stayed and hung outside with it to fix it in the heat; when they concluded it was a bad unit, they called Troy, who went to the closed warehouse to get a new one and bring it to them. Troy himself managed the process very well, was responsive, even on the weekend when the install happened. After the guys had left, I thought there was something wrong because it wasn't going on, so Troy called a technician who was in the area; he showed up after 20 minutes or so 9:00 pm) and noticed that I had it on heat (oops), showed me how to do it properly, and had a good sense of humor about it. Long day for everyone, but it works great and I'm glad I went with them. Worthwhile investment.

Sales consultant Alex Stevens arrived for scheduled appointment exactly on time. He examined the project, asked some specific questions and came up with multiple options for my consideration. He was well informed and full of information but at no time did he attempt to "up sell" me for features I didn't want or need. I felt the price he quoted was excellent value and I schedule the install for the very next day. The installation team of Mark and Cody showed up right on time and in less then 6 hours the job was done. They were so polite and kept me informed about every step of the process. I hardly knew they were in my house. From my first call to the office until the final install this was an exceptional and positive experience. Alex has already been back in touch to make sure I was completely satisfied. Could not be more pleased.

I was having issues with my blower fan going out about once a day during 100* weather. I was able to switch the unit off briefly and get it to come back on. My AC was installed by McCullough in 2013, and will be under warranty for about 2 more months. Shelton (hope I am spelling this correctly) came out, and the cause of the problem was not clear. But the blower motor showed signs that it was about to wear out, so he made an appointment to replace it. After replacing it, the AC went out again that evening, and I called and asked for emergency service since it was after hours and I could not get the AC to come back on. I was supposed to get the "on call" service technician, but Shelton was consulted and he volunteered to come out again that evening. He managed to correctly diagnose the problem and get it fixed. I was impressed because the company could have let the issue go unresolved at several points, but worked diligently to make things right before the warranty expired. I would particularly like to commend Shelton for doing a great job and coming back after hours as well rather than handing the job off to another technician. I am impressed with the honesty in honoring the warranty, and will definitely use this company after the warranty expires.

The folks at McCullough could not have been nicer, professional or more helpful. True gem. They were the absolute best in fitting me in when it was 104, getting the job done right AND making sure I knew what was going on. They offered the best service.

It was great. Bull was the one that worked up the estimate and checked in during the work and installed the screens. He was here during the city inspection. He is very professional and put me at ease.

Very well... the technician, Chris, arrived exactly on time. He even called before arriving. Very knowledgeable and willing to spend time with me to answer my questions. He let me know every step of the way what he was doing. The resulting inspection report is the most detailed and complete of any I have ever seen. Have already received a follow-up call from the company and an online survey of my satisfaction. And I always ask technicians how they are treated by their parent company, and I like and prefer companies that treat their workers fairly, and it appears that McCullough does that and it is evident with the professionalism personality of the people I have met and talked to so far. I like this company so far.

On time, professional, considerate, willing to explain what they were doing and why, worked long hours to be sure we had a functioning system each evening, cleaned up when they finished each day. Heidi spent a lot of time analyzing our home to evaluate potential systems and justify her recommendations.

We've used McCullough for several years for regular HVAC maintenance and repairs. When our furnace failed during the New Years cold snap, and we decided to replace our 16 year old unit, we were confident in using McCullough. Heidi, our comfort adviser was really helpful in laying out all of our options, and the whole installation and weatherization crew were great and professional, and worked late into the night to have our system up and running as the next deep freeze arrived. I would absolutely recommend them for any ac/furnace repair or replacement.

Very well. The service tech did not mind my questions and looking over his shoulder to see what was happening. He showed me how he tested each safety feature for the furnace and the UV light replacement. When finished, he reviewed the things he checked in detail.

Great as usual. I have used this company for the past 4 years. Price is fair, they are always on time and very professional. Will definitely use again.

The installation crew was professional and punctual. They cared for my home by laying down tarp so as not to scratch up my floors or walls. After completing the job, they cleaned up after themselves. The crew did a good job at explaining the installation process to me and made sure that I understood how to work the system before they left my home. The system failed to function the next day. However, the company was responsive and had a crew person on sight the same day. The problem was fixed and so far I am happy with the work that was done.

Very professional , had a lot of obsticials to over come. Air Intake was one and they did a great job. Laid all new decking.

The install team did a great job and today Mark did a wonderful job taking care of some remaining items. The entire staff has been helpful and very professional.

Great! I like the organization, training and processes that McCullough uses.

All went well. The old unit took extra effort to remove but both Derrick and Bo paid attention to every detail. The communication was good. The service truck stopped by in a timely manner when they discovered another part was needed. The cleanup was good. McCullough did a great job! That is why I keep going back to them.

Heidi rocks! She wasn't satisfied until she found the problem knowing that there had to be a good reason for very little airflow. She found that a damper was closed and was able to take care of the issue quickly. And since I had paid for a McCullough service technician to check the problem a week prior, there was no additional charge.

We found them to be top notch in all aspects of service. We have since replaced our old HVAC with a different brand unit and we now use the installer of the new unit for maintenance service.

I'm very happy with the job they did. All of their staff were extremely courteous, friendly and professional, from the people who answered the phone to the service technician who diagnosed the problem (Chris) to the weatherization sales guy (Oscar) who gave me the appraisal to the team of three young men who performed the demo and installation (Vinny, Mike and Jordan). Contrary to the cute phone on-hold message, not one of them was actually Scottish, however :-). They were able to schedule the job fairly quickly, the price seemed reasonable, they charged me exactly what they estimated, and my upstairs rooms are cooling much better now. I would definitely recommend McCullough to others.

Excellent. Management team and the installation techs did an outstanding job! The job done on time, quickly, neatly and with care. I was impressed, and would definitely recommend them. The only issue I had was with McCullough Heating & Air Conditioning's salesman who was not helpful, brusque, and behaved as if he was doing me a favor, rather than considering me as a potential customer. I was surprised, and only because of their reputation, I contacted their management team. All issues were immediately resolved to our mutual satisfaction, and unlike the salesman, they did indeed care about their customers
